mm interesting, only one question.
When can I use it?
I recommend you look at FA, TC, DB or Maguuma. Just keep in mind whatever you pick, you will almost certainly be PvDooring with 400 transfers in the Oceanic/SEA/Euro timezone.
I think it’s great that CD and SoS have the persistence that they have been showing against what must seem like insurmountable odds. Now what you need to do is pair that persistence with WvW builds. I don’t think I’ve seen a finer demonstration of toughness gear vs zerker gear than in this matchup- we can literally cut through your zergs like butter.
Spread the word to your team mates, wear toughness gear and run support builds (condition removal, heals, boon stacking).
As someone who was on FA for a short while and is now on TC, I’d like to give a summary of my experience on it.
- FA plays hard until they mass-sleep, and then there is a coverage gap as clear as day and night.
- FA has a good framework for expanding their server— their teamspeak is set up and utilized effectively and they have good experience balancing their available numbers between borderlands— regularly having teams switch borderlands at a drop of a dime.
- They have a variety of guilds with different personalities, most with a great desire to improve their [already good] field combat.
- Their Lions Arch will pretty much sum up FA— it’s quite empty as most of their players are in WvW.
I personally enjoyed following some of the FA commanders, especially when they wiped successive zergs.
Basically it’s like what the OP said, if you want meta, you will be very very stressed on FA (if you are a big guild and really have the dedication to help out in this regard, then their players are actually quite receptive to learning new tricks). If you want to kick kitten on field and can accept you won’t win the numbers game any time soon, then FA may be for you.
Here’s to hoping for a balanced tier!
The biggest mistake you made was… rolling a warrior.

Wow SoR, you did a bad thing… now prepared to be bored by the lack of challenge.
I like that it gives us the option to apply confusion in some way, but the skill ceiling on this is very high and as mentioned, you would have to really have to spec around this trait and still likely not receive the desired benefits.
If the confusion was applied from more than just ‘interrupts’ or if the trait synergised with another trait that allowed the warrior to interrupt much more easily, then it could be worth it.
Which server are you on? Some servers are more active than others in WvW. I also recommend you join a guild, or look for ‘commander icons’ on the map (blue icons) which are players who can potentially guide your team mates to more organised battles.
Great job to all who helped dethrone JQ from #1, two weeks in a row.
I’m a member/officer of ZN and I can say this guild very unique— we are very dynamic in our day by day play-style, always trying to keep it fun for our members while never abandoning the essentials of WvW. Some days we will play tower/keep assault while on other days we’ll go back to basics with tower defense/yak walking.
Our guild has training and recommended builds, however we are working on improving those all the time, including our group compositions and field strategies.
The guild is very open, everyone can have their say and we utilise our guild forums a lot to ensure all our members are included in all ideas/discussions. All members are encouraged to join and participate.
Ultimately, while we welcome both new/inexperienced players and veterans alike, what we are really looking for are players who are willing to contribute to the guild in any number of ways. This can include skill in PvP, strategy commanding, patience of being sentry/walking yaks, discipline of a team player, willingness to learn, being entertaining to speak to or even things like graphics design and video editing. Whatever you bring to the table, we will make use of (if you are willing)!
The ZN recruitment process is by no means exclusive, what I always say to people when I recruit them is ‘try us out, you can always leave if you don’t think we are a fit’. We have the experience and resources to help our members improve and be successful with us in WvW.
Thanks!
The only problem I have with warriors is its healing. Fair enough, they don’t want warriors to be Guardians 2.0, but the large health pool on a warrior is laughable when you see your health drop in spades and then your healing fills it up a teaspoon.
The cast time on the warrior heals is also a killer, considering that we are heavily dependant on melee and we don’t have the easiest access to stability (without wasting utility skills).
Like many have discovered, going full clerics on a warrior not only doesn’t allow you to be a real bunker 1v1, but it also destroys your damage.
I think I understand what the original poster is saying. Currently, the use of water fields increases the skill ceiling of WvW, therefore it is unfriendly to players who wish to play as an unorganised mass rather than a coordinated force.
Because of this, I have no doubt it will indeed be taken as a serious suggestion and be nerfed.
:x
Awesome fights tonight, great turn out ! Here’s to hoping for a sustained effort from all three servers throughout the week!
Why burn out the night before reset? TC isn’t quite covered for T1 anyway. We’ll get the points when we are.
Getting back on topic….
Some good fights in KN BL in the last 2 hrs. Ran my poor eng all over the map doing early warning of the big bad TC zerg (ZN and friends) and keep/tower defense that finally culminated in the loss of garrison. Too bad we didn’t have more engies with FTs.
Here is TC getting mopped up by our well known “naked zerg”. They snuck in through the water gate awhile later while we were distracted.
Hey chill out, you guys still had weapons on
Thanks for the fun !
Ouch, DB has a lot of big personalities joining it very quickly. I hope the DB culture can withstand it.
In other news, glad to hear that T2 will become balanced once again!
It would be fun if the guilds leaving Kaineng went to support either Fort Aspenwood or Dragonbrand in tier 2. Here’s to hoping for a stable tier 2 in the near future!
Good on you for seeing past tier 1 and even dropping as far as tier 3 to find a place for your guild to grow (although no doubt your sights are set on tier 2, and almost certainly not on tier 1 even in the long run)!
What I want to know is why a server would NOT want to try and make themselves more competitive by strengthening their weaknesses. Don’t blame those who get better for getting better, blame yourself for not only falling behind, but also for encouraging your peers to fall behind.
Amen to those who see the need to BUFF other classes rather than nerf a working class. Some of the suggestions look like they will have extremely negative impacts to the entire class (perhaps even other classes!).
Dear FA,
Please release the ridiculous idea that anyone in tier 2 will move up to tier 1 any time soon. No matter how well you did this week, there was never a chance that you would have gone to tier 1, so please don’t try to use that as an excuse or reason to not take first place.
Thank you.
The very fact that the password measures tell you that someone is using a particular password is a security issue.
