Those ones that Rampage linked are all good choices.
At minimum u want a Intel 3630QM processor. Preferably a 3740QM/3820QM for the higher clocks.
GPU wise atleast a 660m

UnSpec: FYI . Ivy at 4.4ghz is equal to a Sandy at 4.5ghz. there is ‘roughly’ a 100mhz performance difference Which is mitigated by OC’s when using the same cooler*, since sandy can go higher. So overall they r the same.

*By that i mean if u got a 3570k and a 2550k (same base clocks) both of which were a good average quality example of the chips (so no ‘gold’ chips or ‘sub par’ chips) using say a Evo212 cooler, the 2550k would be able to get ‘atleast’ 100mhz higher clock and thus equal out the performance

Not all silicon are created equal. I probably just got lucky in the lotterry and got a good chip.

And no, Ivy can go the same as Sandy. Even if they do have the same cooling. depending on the chip you get Ivy can match Sandy in OC’ing.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_3000/ I’m a bit hesitant on the desktops thought just because of how mobile I need to be lol. Is there any other laptops you can link? I will consider the one you did link, but its more of a last resort.

You could look into Shuttle PC’s. They’re really small but can still fit a full graphics card and have good cooling for something like a 3570k

It depends on what you’re doing. If you’re just leveling then I could see you getting 60FPS in some zones, but some major cities and WvW can get very laggy. Even the best rig on the market with water-cooling and an OC’d CPU can’t run GW2 at a steady 60FPS on max’d out graphics options. the game is very CPU heavy so I turned off Shadows and Reflections which seemed to raise my average FPS everywhere.

I run max graphics and lion’s arch is a constant 60 for me. And that’s with Vsync on

What are your specs and resolution? For me it’s a GTX 680, i5 2500k OC’d @ 4.8 GHz and my monitor is 1920×1080:60. I don’t have a steady 60FPS in Lion’s Arch with all graphics options max’d out. Is there a trick?

3570k @ 4.4ghz with an overclocked GTX 670. Ivy bridge cores are faster clock for clock than Sandy bridge.

Good computer, althought GW2 lags alot.

um, Unspec I really doubt its the player models that are the issue here…..considering that his system could im quite sure play WoW, L2, Aion, Tera or a slew of other games with just as many people on the screen at once.

the problem is, this games designed as if everybody has 5-8ghz tricores…..

the game has 3 critical worker threads, nowhere have I seen anet say what these 3 threads do, but Im guessing one of them is for culling…..and its defective…..if any of those 3 threads hits a wall even for an instant, your fps will suffer, this happens to everybody, some people are hit worse then others.

if you dig back in this section you see people with systems far far better then the OP’s having the same problems, example is the other day I saw a post by a fellow with a 3900x series intel chip he had it at 4.5 or 4.6ghz yet he was having horrible perf in DE’s and WvWvW……he also had a much better video card then the OP’s……

Flonkz.1387: sorry to say this but, in a way the fellow above is correct, your cpu is bottlenecking you due to the very very poor optimization level of this game, your best bet is to oc your cpu and just wait to see if anet fix their kitten.

if you want a fun mmo to play in the mean time, try tera, its going free to play and runs better then gw2 for everybody I know…..(unreal engine based probably helps with that….despite its warts/flaws at least tera’s perf is somewhat consistent across systems of similar spec. and at least i never see HUGE fps drops in towns…)

My friend runs a slow CPU and the players refuse to render, or they’re just the pre-rendered models floating around

Won’t run GW2 on high or ultra. Weak graphics card.

This laptop is better IMO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230589

If you really wanted to play GW2 on high at 60FPS constantly, you’d have better luck looking at desktops

Wondering if this PC will handle GW2 on high

It won’t run GW2 on high. It has a weak graphics card and a weak (relative to GW2 standards) CPU. You’ll most likely need to upgrade both components to play GW2 on high. Upgrade the CPU first, then the GPU if the CPU upgrade wasn’t enough.

The GTX 650 TI should be able to run GW2 on high, assuming you have a good CPU (2500k, 8350 or 3570k)

Good computer, althought GW2 lags alot.

Your CPU is too slow to handle all the player models in WvW

I have never ever played GW1 so I dont understand why it would make me link an account (there was no option to skip)

I get I may have paid more attention but at this point my ANet experience has been very very poor I just want to play the game! there was no warning about home servers etc really just feel like uninstalling and putting this down as a bad experience

You just ignore the account link for GW1. The website doesn’t know if you played GW1 or not, so its there for everyone.

You selected a European server that speaks German. You probably should have paid more attention when selecting a server (there is a server filter when selecting servers)

Your account (and characters) are linked to a home server. All characters created on that account is connected to that server. There was a period when server transfers were free, but that ended on the 28th.

Linking the GW1 account is optional, and the passwords you tried may have been blacklisted due to various reasons. Anet is very tight about account security.

Eyefinity vs Nvidia 3D vision(tri-monitor)

Unspec.9017

Eyefinity at the moment is superior in performance, due to its higher memory bandwidth. But of course has the UI issue. If you go Nvidia, make sure to get a 6xx verion card, because the old 5xx generation doesn’t support Surround on one card.

And a side note: Its not Nvidia 3D vision. That’s the name for their 3D solution. Its called Nvidia Surround.

GW2 Black Screen Crash (driver crash?)

Unspec.9017

I’ve been playing GW2 for 1-2 weeks now, and sometimes very randomly my game would black screen for maybe 5-10 seconds then come back, but now with much reduced framerates (20 or so. Game becomes very choppy). It goes away when I restart the game, which makes me think GW2 is making my drivers crash. I have a GTX 670 with latest drivers (310.90) and a i5 3570k. I’ve followed all the tips on the stickies, such as turning AA-mode to application controlled and the such. Anyone got any ideas as to whats happening?

Also, I am overclocking, but it is very meager. +10 on the core and +550 on memory with a MSI GTX 670 PE/OC
