Also, Reef Riders (not Young Reef Riders) have unusually high HP for a normal mob. If you’re running a full Berserker gear setup, you can still carve through them without much trouble, but if you’re not, it’s generally better to avoid them than tangle with them.
Even though some champs in the game are possible to solo (and I have done a couple) I generally don’t bother as it’s not worth the time/hassle anyways. As for the reg Reef Riders, my trapper burns through them rather quick and even when I’m not on that char I’ve found they generally don’t pose a huge threat on their own so it’s possible to just sit there for a min or 2 and just slug it out with one if you don’t mind taking the time :P There’s only 2 reg mobs in SS that I tend to avoid unless I am 100% sure nothing else will join in the fight and that’s vet Karkas and Drakes. If I’m farming or just running from one area to another anything else that gets in my way and is openly hostile dies

Just got to know how to pick your fights :P I’ve taken my level 30 from one end of that zone to the other with no problem (though she is a mes, and I’ve also run 2 80’s over the whole place so I know what I’m dealing with). Get a small group together, attach yourself at the hip to whatever zerg is running around, and in most cases you’ll be fine. That said, they are tough mobs, and even the most prepared and experienced 80s fully decked out can still be caught unawares and face kitten d…especially by drakes :/

Finally got around to legitimately giving it a go early this morning, just for the fun of it. Took a little bit of time but eventually got through it. Done it a few more times since just for kicks. At least now I don’t feel so bad originally getting the achievement or more recently the sample via port. A little bit of practice goes a long ways…and if a particular jump seems impossible it might be and you might need to alter your course to accommodate that. There’s at least one spot in both sets of vents where continuing straight forward isn’t the answer as you’ll never make it.

Yep, pretty much. IMO best thing I can get out of them are more passion flowers. The rest is just gravy.

Semi bright red (roughly matching with Lava dye) on my male ranger with greenish blue bark. A bit more darker/subdued purple on my fem necro with darkish green bark.

Having only a Sylvari ranger that I’ve spent any time with I wouldn’t call myself experienced with them. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head lorewise or what have you that sticks out for determining a class. I will say though you can make a pretty kitten sweet looking sylvari female necro if you so choose. I haven’t played her at all yet, save for the starting instance, but that’s the one I threw together on a whim fwiw.

The problem isn’t that the stats on it are worthless, that really depends on the build. The real issue the Censer has is that it’s a rare item that can’t be ascended and it comes with an infusion slot instead of a gem slot? Wtf, seriously? Needing to use fine tranny crystals just comes with the territory of transmuting anything that’s 80…I really see no issue there.

Why is the flower on the right shoulder when every weapon is stowed from right to left, thus clipping through the weapon?
Why did they choose this?
Yeah, it kinda boggles my mind. Put it on my ranger and while there’s really no noticeable clipping with my VotM it’s absurd with my Wintersbark :/ Definitely should have been off the left shoulder to minimize clipping as much as possible.

Despite not showing up in the transmute window slotted gems do carry over. You can freely transmute the skins to get different stats without worry. I’ve done it myself.

Don’t hate him per se but I’m certainly not fond of him. His voice bugs me, his dialogue bugs me, his hair and face are funny…then again my sylvari ranger also doesn’t care for any of the planty armor or weapons either :/

I was worried about that as well but the gem does carry over. Transmuted the Censer for my sylvari ranger and it still kept the exquisite emerald that was in the previous backpiece.

Finally got this like 20min ago. Eh, it is highly luck based but there are things you can do to “tilt” the luck in your favor. Regardless it’s done and I can maybe enjoy 1 game a day for the daily while forgetting about it the rest of the time I’m in SSC.

Well I’m back with a pic. The clipping really isn’t so bad with the gs (if it’s noticeable at all with VotM) but my god does my Wintersbark sb look ugly clipping through that thing. Really don’t know why they didn’t orient it off the other shoulder to limit this somewhat.

Just by virtue of how it looks I really didn’t any other option than to give it to my sylvari ranger. It may not match him but I was at least able to find some dyes for my armor that match or at the very least compliment/contrast it quite nicely. Can’t add a pic atm but I’ll prob post one up soon. Only real issue I have with the piece is wishing it rested on the left and not the right so there wouldn’t be as much clipping with my gs/sb. Now if only I could get over my general disdain for any sylvari cultural armor or their exclusive t3 weps :/

I really quite like it. Admittedly I liked it before now but it really offered little lasting incentive to hang around. I just hope there will be enough content lasting after SoS is over to ensure that it stays, at the very least, a moderately compelling zone to visit. Even if that isn’t the case though I’m sure I’ll still visit occaisionally for the Consortium JP and chance to massacre some young karkas or the odd guild mission. At the very least it’ll have been fun while it lasted.

You were probably unlucky with your team setup or were with people, who had never done it before. Once you know the mechanics, it is actually really easy. The boss fight is still challenging, but once you are on top of jumping waves and dodging red circles it really is not that difficult. Maybe try looking for an experienced group!
Pretty much this. Only times I’ve had pugs fail is when no one communicates or cooperates. Then people start getting frustrated and bail and it’s all downhill. Other end of the spectrum it’s smooth as butter…even the boss.
