Necro – [BanD]Nighnus the Black
Yak’s Bend
FR did not try to recruit anyone, did no post on english forum, had no contact with NA ladder (while FSP was paying guilds to get nightcrew), the SE transfer just happened…
This is true. We came of our own free will. Although I do want to thank the FR community for welcoming us where possible. Killove has been a great commander to work together with. Great leader!
I actually wish ANET would do something about “Night Cap” because it’s annoying maintaining a structure like top WvW servers. They have guilds in timezones every four hours so that they get global coverage. It’s a really unstable system that usually gets a lot of server transfers when one of those guilds leaves.
at least we know who doesn’t have jobs/skips school
and then
Thief/Necro LF wvw guild that actually cares about winning matches or at least tries… willing to xfer
playing usually during EU/oceanic prime time
I find your fighting spirit amusing.
Yikes, well at the least now you know she doesn’t speak for all SE.
This is what last night felt like for you other Melodeath fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YyN6zIzBfU
Seriously though, I’ve always known FSP had numbers over FR, but organizing them like that as to stay up late for that huge comeback was amazing! And hey, we also fulfilled some people’s wishes and got to fight during “Pseudo Peak” Hours. Been a pleasure!
Boomshakala. Been a good time swimming in a sea of red! So many golems!
OMG, the BLaOaB speak ? i think i don’t hear correctly.
Yesterday on FR bl we were 22 aZm, but and i want an answer, how many AoA + pugs how many ? how many arrow cart, balista on supply camp and bay?
What do you want ? we put 30 ac on every tower and we wait you come and you wipe in 3,0s chrono like in garrison ? or you want a gvg 20v20 the next week and i hope you don’t fear the proposition.WTF, xXx you play good and fight very hard but your mentality is the baddest, this week no one see a xxx raid guild…… oh wait one anouce, many had see xxx in the blob, like yesterday with the BLaOaB
You calling us BlaOaB? We dont blob that much as you know, we are a guild based on wvw and we have so much players in WvW. Sorry but i think it is better you don’t say that anymore. I comanded today this morning in FSP, took whole UW and FR border with PUGS, just a few AoA (5 or so). And i comanded a blob too, which contains only pugs and no guild-members.
I co-operated last wednesday with VoTF and XxX, i was comanding FSP border and leading a pug zerg. It was a nice co-operating with VoTF AND XxX too. I noticed that XxX is a great guild, they are pro too in WvW, XxX and VoTF tagged up a commander for to help me coördinating where the guilds are because i am the only deaf comander on FSP, i am happy with that and grateful to those guilds and i have respect for these guilds. But please keep your "negative’ comments for yourself.
Greetings and lead FSP to victory this night!
Khalar BladestormHummer boy
I personally enjoy this match up, fr and fsp close till the end of the week.hihi
And yes how could FR take bay? There was no timer at bay and i suspect it was glitched by a thief, Anet should fix this….
I’ll try to dig around and see. I finally have some time to play today.
It does no AOE damage so things like necros and engineers will always teamfight better. Also it only has 1 condition
You’re forgetting Poison and Torment.
While Necros get access to Burning, Poison, and Bleeding, we get Torment, which is usually worse than Dhuumfire, but with some tricks up your sleeve, can be stacked HIIIGH.
love how SE still waits till we all go to bed.. lol but when we have KINDA even numbers we wipe them :P love the SE blob running around EB now.. come get on when we have even numbers PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, one of our commanders was able to get earlier (not sure what server time) where the FSP zerg was still strong in EB. (I guess it was all night) We teamed up with Killove of Fort Rank, and had to use some interesting tactics to beat your numbers. And yes, we got wiped more than once, but that was part of the bigger picture.
That was a lot of fun. And holy kitten, FSP, nice job closing 10K point disparity. It seems like Underworld has decided to mostly attack us!
“Everyone knows I log on to AFK 90% of the time.” ha ha ha ha ha
We all know now what your server is about – no skill, no bravery, no expertise – so no glory can ever be sensed by any of your server members.
If we do not win, we do so knowing we gave every breathe of effort possible to every fight. We do not sit around waiting until the opponent(s) are not present so we can cheat our titles. Shame on you. Did you not learn anything from the Battle of Waterloo? When will you learn, you just haven’t got it in you, at a species capability level. Roll on next week, when we can have decent hard-fought fights again, (don’t shake FR readers), and we can be rid of these plebians who know not how to win in war.
I would want to apologize to any FR or anyone else taking offence by this person’s rude and offensive remarks in the area bolded by me. As an FSPer, I am ashamed to see him as a commander with such a foul behaviour as this.
I wouldn’t worry about it. I think anyone with half a head on their shoulders and some internet experience understands that majority of the internet functions on the maturity level of a 15 year old.
It’s actually one the most difficult things about establishing any serious support for E-Sports since the “professionals” act like morons.
Thanks for all the good fights FSP, and sorry to UW for having population issues. I primarily ran guild-less for a long time and I know what it feels like being lost in the wake of larger organization going around.
I think the most important thing is that from all the fights I’ve seen, no one on FSP ever gave up. If we were hitting them too hard at night in one BL, they kept swinging around and going somewhere where we were blind. I understand that this game has an objective and it’s nice to see a highly mobile battlefield adapting to new blindspots and weaknesses.
Thanks to all for a good fight!
We’re not supposed to have a lot of mobility. At most we get swiftness, otherwise all of our “mobility” skills are designed solely to chase, or create distance while in a fight, but not leave it completely.
well that’s …dumb.
We have the ability to run into a zerg with 50,000HP, 5000 Toughness, and then pop into another 15,000 HP Shroud cover, while the death around you regenerates this pool. What would be dumb is if we could do this and then suddenly pop out of the fight when kitten hits the fan. That’s just my opinion because I play a Thief as well. And generally my thief is spongy even has a Condi/Toughness/Vit build. Where he does shine is the fact that I can leave the middle of a battlefield consistently, but that is only fair because I can be taken down incredibly quickly.
Does P/D work as a power/ precision build? Sneak Attack (AA when stealthed) is a pretty beefy chunk of direct damage, as well as the bleeds.
No,
The auto-attack on pistol is really weak for direct damage. You can use it for conditions, however if you want physical damage pistol is the worst weapon for it.
Is it fair to say this? The problem with ANY pistols-first build is that the auto-attack is kitten unless your are conditions. Pistol’s builds focused around Crit Damage are all Initiative dependent for damage. P/D due to the fact that you have to spam CnD when you can to do any damage from Stealth, and P/P due to Unload Spam.
The benefit to these builds is that you don’t have to be in the front lines, being the primary target of the Zerg when it gets sight of a nice juicy paperweight. (NOTE: Except for P/D since it requires you to jump into melee range to hit CnD
)
Does P/D work as a power/ precision build? Sneak Attack (AA when stealthed) is a pretty beefy chunk of direct damage, as well as the bleeds.
I can’t comment on it from a competitive perspective, but I had a lot of luck soloing Camps due to the consistent access to stealth with CnD in P/D. The “Stealth Shots” move happens to be a weaker version of unload that doesn’t require you to waste initiative, so I was definitely a big fan. It will never be as much damage as Backstab, but it has it’s merits in survivability.
I currently want to try a build that involves Poison, Torment, and Bleed stacks.
Dig your music choice.
It’s hard to use in a zerg because to get maximum Bleed Spread, you have to constantly be popping into stealth and using Ricochet. D/D is simply better in a zerg environment. While I would say that P/D is amazing as Conditions build in a one on one situation. I never knew how fun Torment was! I’m gonna be trying to experiment with something related to stacking torment on targets.
I remember a few days ago I had thief charge me and I was excited. Oh boy! Fun thief attacking me! Time to have a fun thief duel, full of stealth, teleportation, and MORE!
As soon as he starts attacking me, I see confusion stacks just popping up EVERYWHERE. At this point I just pop stealth and leave. Nope, not even slightly interested.
Hey guys, I wanna apologize for the previous tone of this topic, and I don’t think it’s right to continue in that manner. We’ve had a great time on Fort Ranik, and I’ve run with some amazing commanders. It’s interesting to see the different tactics and fighting styles of American and French commanders.
Unfortunately, a large portion of SE have jobs and can only rally later in the night, which often is after peak hours. A few people like myself are available to play during peak hours where we’ve been lucky enough to catch commanders that are willing to speak English.
Overall, Fort Ranik has been a great experience and I want to thank everyone on the server for being accepting of a new Guild. We also hope to catch some other powerful guilds besides the ones we’ve been fighting in the future if time permits it!
Overall, good luck and have fun! You’ll find me being an idiot on [SE]Valnilus or [SE]Nighnus the Black.
Rune of Perplexity? There’s plenty of kittens exploiting this, and it kitten es me off more than Permastealth, because at least when people are in Perma-stealth they aren’t fighting me.
Isn’t the immobilize too short for your to get a use out of it? Aren’t you losing on stacking more bleeds by using it, and it only lasts what, 1.5 seconds?
So. With recent nerf (should i say fix) it is nearly impossible to land at least few strikes of pistol whip on good opponents.
Good game.
I guess swordplay is now limited to S/D once again unless you only use Pistolwhip when the target is Basilisked…
Does Pistolwhip still evade?
EDIT: Yes PistolWhipe still evades, however I don’t know for how long. I guess Anet thinks that this ability Evades so then the fact that you stand still is balanced? It might work in big zergs but… “shrug”
(edited by Valvador.4291)
With 10/30/0/0/30, I used to run Ricochet quite often, but more recently I’ve just focused on Bountiful Theft instead (w/ Thrill of the Crime). P/P is mainly single-target anyways, and boon-stealing/sharing helps both offensively and defensively (esp. against boon-heavy professions).
Thoughts?
Without 30 in CS, you’re missing a potential 20% damage increase, as well as the additional precision and crit-damage from it.
Putting points into Acro (or for others, SA) only “gimps” your damage in P/P. I put 10 in DA for Mug, and 30 in Trickery for Sleight — it turns Steal (21~ sec CD) into a “beast”. :-)
If your chosen utilities are what you’re using, then the Blinding Power and Shadow Refuge are also “gimping” your setup. They have more use for stealth-heavy builds.
Hmm, I believe with a little bit of re-traiting you could turn this build into a Sword-Dagger build which is what I’m looking for at the moment for the ability to switch out of being pistols.
The potential 20% damage after 50% HP is replaced by the fact that if I stay above a certain level of initiative I’m always doing 10% more damage so it events out. The reason I wanted to go acrobatics is that I believe the constant ability to dodge is crucial.
It works fairly well in WvW because unlike Melee it allows you to stay out of harms way most of the time. But I guess if I want to do more than that it’s a bit lackluster.
What do you mean as far as buff besides buffing the utility of #2 in groups?
You answered your own question pretty much. Unless you use that thiefsmer build, you’re going to be spamming unload, which isn’t that powerful. Now then, let’s assume you aren’t condi specced, the auto attack is rather laughable, so this means your main source of damage is coming from Unload. Nothing wrong with that…or is there? See Unload essentially becomes your bread and butter attack for P/P, not the auto attack, unless you use condi specs, but you normally wouldnt be doing P/P anyway. Back to the point, your bread and butter attack isn’t your auto attack, which means it uses initiative, which means that if you want to use any of the other moves that quite frankly have no synergy with your bread and butter attack (Unload in case we forgot), you have to sacrifice some initiative, which means less unloading and more lolpewing. That’s the problem, no synergy, little damage, and too slow it seems: no built in evade or stealth like literally every other weapon set the thief has.
I appreciate the explanation. I haven’t had much one on one time with this build in one on one operations. I am usually in combat and am relying on my utilities and dodges to get out of the way.
However with S/D I’m either using flanking string to string boons, or spamming 2 to teleport, or 5 to attempt to daze or heal.
With Dagger Pistol I am only really using Blinding Powder to stealth and then backstab.
I don’t know if saying that “relying on Unload” is really that bad of a thing especially if it’s your primary way of doing damage. And what makes you say that it’s not that great of a burst utility? Because it’s easy to read and dodge?
If anything, P/P is a good burst option for Stealth-minimal builds as the range factor allows you to dodge and work in unloads.
With the right build you can pick up +30% damage to pistols when you’re above 6 initiative (easy when you have 15 max) and less than on full endurance. With the right gear, you’re pretty much sitting on 75% critical chance with fury active. You can do 3 unloads in a row and whenever they crit they hit between 4000 and 6000 damage (depending on armor).
So what exactly about P/P makes it so much worse than S/D or even D/P? S/D has sustained damage, but not much. Has the mobility and now lowered Boon Striping.
I run this build for laugh in WvW (yeah, not a serious min/maxer either), the idea is to be a glass-cannon as much as possible.
Link: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQRAqa4YlUm6OXcS4E/5Ex2DfCUe6pAsitTxVtKA-jUCBYLDimgAmsIQUBgJPFRjtMsIasqFYqSER1eDFRrGA-wIn zerg fight, I just sneak around and look for enemy below 50% health, pop 2 signets to get 10 stacks of might, and Unload can crit for 10k for all 8 hits, so unless they go true bunker, it’s an instant down when they eat the whole attack.
Before I rarely used Body Shot because why do that when u can just Unload again.
I welcome this new change because Body Shot now acts as a utility and can offer some offensive support in group fight, for example, instead of spamming Unload, I can spam Body Shot and let my team down my trapped target.
It’s not a bad P/P build overall. I can’t imagine a better one for WvW, and it still works well for roaming.
I am no min maxed either unfortunately. I wonder if I can make a venom sharing version of this build, but I fear that I’ll lose some roaming power this way.
This build works amazingly well with Rune of Lyssa due to small cooldown of withdraw and basilisk venom.
Hey guys. Most of what I do in GW2 is run WvW with a guild and I’ve been trying to adopt my thief to it. I have a necro that is all set but I’m trying to figure out a good way to integrate my thief.
Melee backstab sucks because by the time you get through the AOE to get one hit you’re stuck evading for the rest of the fight doing no damage. With Venom sharing I found very marginal use when the party grows much larger than 5.
Now I’m trying this
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQNAqaVlYmiPHcy9E/5ExODgCAPFAQs9MAAAA
With Ricochet when I unload I frequently crit up to 6000 and frequently bounce over half the damage. With high initiative regen and high initiative at the start I can do massive damage by unloading multiple times in a row. Basilisk and Withdraw are good combos with rune of Lyssa and when I am roaming I can switch out SB for P/D.
Thoughts?
Shadow’s Embrace works as it did before.. actually “better” for D/Ps, for some reason I’m cleansing 2 conditions every 3s at several occasions..
How are you heart-seeking such a small distance?
Maybe there’s a 10s ICD between instances of stealth for Shadow’s Embrace. So still removes every 3 secs, but once you leave stealth the 10s ICD begins. I’m at work. Can anyone test that?
That’s actually a good idea.
hmm Shadows embrace still works as it did before … so what the fk with that tooltip ? want to give us heart attack ?
Better prepare yourself for the nerf. If they added the tool tip, they seem to be prepared for it.
Also, is no one concerned about the Basilisk Venom change?
I think the interval portion refers to removing conditions after the initial removal, while staying in stealth. So instead of removing 2 conditions if you sat in stealth long enough, you only get the one removal.
This is an attempt to nerf D/P thieves, but it’s hurting other specs as well.
My other question is, who do they think spends 10 seconds in stealth? Are they implying that D/P Thieves are working as intended? Because I’ve been playing under the assumption that they are not.
10 s internal cd …
I guess Rune of Lyssa is now mandatory with Basilisk Venom?
Post-Patch test, Lifeforce true amount appears unchanged.
As far as I can tell we take half damage in DS or something close that. Eat 10,000 damage from mob only about 5k actually lost in DS display.
Strange. DS doesn’t seem to alter our armor in any way or form…
Wait, Petrify is now stun breakable? Wasn’t it before?
Just an FYI, they seem to be focusing on the “Buffs” with this video. As a Thief player who has been expecting a Nerf on S/D they didn’t discuss any abilities that they’ve toned down. My Necro is my second main character on this account so that does concern me.
The only thing that really concerns me about HeartSeeker is the fact that I am completely dependent on it for Mobility, kind of like warriors on their leap attack. For example, my way to escape a zerg is to either drop a Refuge, or a few Stealth stacks and then Heartseeker in an arbitrary direction so that I cannot be found.
When you first started making these topics I was really glad that someone wanted to have a great organized critical discussion. While your organization skills are good, your imagination and ability to design FUN GAME MECHANICS is somewhat lacking.
I legitimately don’t understand where you think of the fact that replacing our big “OH WOAH, OUT OF NOWHERE” big damage move with an arbitrary move that stacks vulnerability over time. Stacking vulnerability is more boring than World of Warcraft Looking For Raid-tier boss fighting. Repetition is not the key here. If you really think you want to alter the Thief class this massively, how about trying Innovation rather than attempting to create PvE-like mechanics in PvP.
The damage would not be done instant like with the current backstab.
That’s exactly the point of BS.
Thats not fun and anet knows that.
Using it to surprise someone to put him into a vulnerable spot is way more fun i think.
Not only for the thief that has to use more of his skills to be effective, but also for the enemy that get at least a chance to react.
How does Anet Know that? Half the point of specs that use daggers are hitting that critical backstab. It’s a difficult situation when the target is aware of your trying to sneak up on them. It’s a reward for being able to flank them. Backstab is the entire point of paper thieves that jump in, Backstab and then run away.
The way backstab functions right now is infinitely more fun and more useful than your 5 stacks of Vuln idea unless you are fighting a champion.
I just looked at Wish’s mug: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/thief/?7.0|8.1c.h2.8.1c.h17|c.1c.h2.8.1c.h17|1c.71j.1g.71j.1c.71j.1g.71j.1c.71j.1g.71j|2s.d13.2s.d13.3s.d17.3s.d17.2s.d13.2s.d13|a3.u36c.u56b.0.0|39.1|57.5c.5b.5h.0|e
And I just realized that the only reason I had a Short Bow was for mobility and Zerg Support, the latter is something I rarely do.
I just realized that if I really needed to run away using Initiative instead of utility skills I can easy spam Heartseeker with no target to achieve the same effect. So this answered my question.
Hey Guys,
I’m a pretty WvW Centric player and now that I have a very group oriented Necro at level 80 and some decent gear, I’m trying to figure out how to make my thief a Roamer/WvW Camp Killer. Someone who can run around and play interference. I’ve been a big fan of the Sword/Dagger builds because they allow you to forgo stacking toughness by letting you being mobile, but I’m having issues coming down to something that is truly great. So far I’ve come up with this skill Trait:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQNAsYVlYmSOHcy9E/JFx+hdy9wpItpaFoZ/BsC
Basically, it’s a variant of the 0/20/30/20/0 build, except that I pull 5 points out of each of the 20s so that I could get mug for better 1v1 Basilisk application. The nice thing about the 30 points in shadow is that it’s great for survivability, and then in groups I can also switch my Grandmaster point into venomous aura and give my groupies Basilisk Venom.
I’m planning to use this with mostly Assassin’s gear, and a little bit of toughness thrown around to keep me at about 45% Crit chance with Signet of Agility and 2500 Armor. I’m saving up some money for Runes of Lyssa to use with Basilisk Venom.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I just tried to 1v1 an Engineer roamer with this and got annihilated multiple times. kitten was running perplexity.
I think I might try collecting some gold on my 80 Thief and work on crafting my way to 65-70. Currently I’m working on Weaponsmithing (for daggers) and Tailoring, but I’ll do Jewelcrafting and Cooking for leveling purposes once I save up some gold.
I love these depressing waves of Ele’s saying how they are a kittenty class in PvP.
Your first sentence could have been omitted. Are you saying Necro’s are a better class now?
Hi All,
My first and main character is a Thief, and I’m level 80 and working on getting some exotics. I’m finishing my Personal Story finally, and have no intentions of doing it on this Elementalist because of how horrible the gameplay on the personal story is.
I’m also getting incredibly bored of PvE, and managed to bypass the early parts with a Birthday Booster from my main character. I’m now level 32 and I tried to outfit my Elementalist with Toughness Gear so that it scales me for WvW better (only 1700 armor ATM
)
I am looking for Build/Gear advice for leveling an ele in WvW that still has some PvE farming capabilities. Primarily, though, I want to be a useful upleveled character in WvW. Does anyone have any suggestions?
