If the gyros are a gimmick how is that acceptable given the attention other classes like Mesmer/Chrono and Rev/Herald have gotten? its really frustrating playing this game hoping the xpac would make the Engineer class interesting again… I was really excited to use the gyros and now I feel like I shouldn’t be using them at all.
How could Anet so badly screw up the one feature for Scrapper that makes them stand out? the gyro AI is awful… stealth gyro doesn’t keep up which leads to stealth breaking after 3-5 seconds every use, it gets clipped on terrain and will not fly with you while gliding. Purge gyro has the same issue in combat. Blast gyro is effing worthless, and shredder gyro’s damage does not scale well enough. The only gyro I’ve found even remotely useful are the medic gyro, which I spend 50% of the time swapping out for healing sentry.
Anyone else kittened off about this when in the meantime we have classes like Revenant/Herald that seems to have gotten the majority of the attention in class tuning/development?
meta grinds and gutted wvw are leading to the early death of this game
Don’t worry, Anet will add those armor skins to the game soon for the low price of 800 gems.
There are people blindly defending Anet here when in reality there is no progression without grinding since release of HoT. Masteries are an abomination… they can only really be attained through grinding out meta events and they net the player absolutely nothing other than the ability to traverse an already small, soon to be dead zone easier.
isn’t the lfg tool after 2+ years of being implemented still in beta?
I like logging in after 3 years and still seeing my armor clip and oversized head items on my Charr Engineer… I had the luxury of choosing both the worst race and worst class in terms of gear aesthetics.
Regarding the spell animations don’t even get me started about how Anet gave Engineer the finger… our “Orbital Strike” looks like a sliver of sunlight shining through a window pane… its pathetic. Lets also mention how pets in this game are worthless now because you can’t even have them out in the HoT maps because they get too populated and your pets then become “disabled.”
Aren’t all of the WPs in DS locked at all times? every time I’ve logged in and tried to travel to one it bounces me to the nearest one available, which is in the northeastern corner of DS, where the story NPC is located. Unless it’s because I haven’t defeated Mordremoth yet, I’m not sure why I’m unable to run to any of them either.
This was taken from a post of mine in another thread, and I thought I would start a new thread on this topic because I haven’t really seen one to date on it yet…
I spent about 5 mins when I was logged in the other day and zoomed out on the World Map and kinda glanced over it for a bit. 3 years later and almost half of the world map is still inaccessible. Was this by design? did they intend to create a game with an already thought out world, just didn’t bother putting the effort in to create the zones? I look at the 3 maps in HoT (the 4th doesn’t count, you can’t even get to DS without completing a meta event on a timer) and can’t help but think how they thought this would be enough to put their stamp of approval on for kitten retail price.
Does this mean we can look for another 2 year development cycle for just one of the areas to open up that have been on the map since GW2 launch like the Janthir, Scavenger Causeway, Crystal Desert, Woodland Cascades, Blood Legion Homelands and Far Shiverpeaks? If we will have to pay $50 per expansion for each of those small zones like we did for HoT I will not be returning to this game in the future.
yeah they don’t want to waste development time giving their player base that spent $50 on their content lacking “expansion” the ability to earn items for their character when they can charge $10 for it on the gem store.
anyone else beginning to think the whole Masteries system was put in place to create the illusion of content? making you do the same meta events over and over again to disguise the fact that the only real content here is the short, underwhelming story, and the access to guild halls.
I know I’m parroting someone here, but I’m really sick of seeing all this stuff being added to the gemstore every other week, meanwhile HoT is severely lacking content and priced at $50. What is the point of playing an MMO without a monthly fee when you can’t even customize your character to your liking through playing the game itself… And don’t give me the “you can buy gems with gold” reply, acquiring currency in this game is probably the hardest out of any MMO i’ve played.

I’ll go back to FFXIV and get my money’s worth in the meantime.
I for the most part agree with the OP.
The main problem I have with the game right now is the overwhelming burden of knowing that as soon as I log in I’m going to be scratching my head trying to figure out what I should do to get any facet of enjoyment from the game itself… I didn’t have this problem with GW2 before HoT was released. The masteries grind is really bad and I think it is one of the worst systems ever put in an MMO. Period. It gets you absolutely nothing other than the ability to traverse an area you have already explored kitten near every inch of slightly more efficiently, and grants you access to sectioned off areas (via ley line gliding) that yield little or no reward, and that is the 2nd major problem I have with this game currently… no sense of reward for your effort. I’m going to work towards getting my Ascended weapon through the collection achievements, but after that I think I’ll be playing something else that rewards me for my time, is fun to play, and has content that is actually content and not just watered down LS events with grinds for cheap weapon/armor skins.
