I am looking for high level pvp Rangers to talk to. Are there currently any top 100 people that are Rangers that have Twitch or vids?

No i’m saying that this top 100 is full of ppl who wouldn’t have been even in first 1000 on old one…so it’s totally pointless…while most of top players like zapdos are in %

Queing up all day and losing half matches is totally different from being good…ppl up there with less than 60% win/loss ratio rofl, i really would like to ask the #1 guy to set up his team for a friendly best of 3 with us on stream

Gonna be fun…you know if it was old one then it would have been CM meaning a pretty sure loss…but now…i don’t even know dat guy

thanks for your input. I like the new system. I"m not sure it is fair to say that baddies can just show up and win 50% of their games. Or even average people. I see that you are EU, but in NA – I’ve played against/with some of the top 10 and they are legit. They are typing out orders telling people what to do and playing to win.

I am still new to taking this pvp seriously in GW2, mostly due to the reset. Before the reset I was trying to dig out of the losses from when I was learning…it was daunting and I was inching my way out of the “Percent” bracket.

I really like the restart and it is making a person like me – a mid-skilled player – really get into this and try to be better….because I have a shot at top 250 now.

Again, thanks for helping me understand this better and any advise you can give to newer players who are trying to break-in to the group would always be welcomed.

Set Up: Power Ranger LB/SB with Travelers

My synergy in soloq ( i only soloq) with teammates on Forest, Temple or, god forbid Khylo is lacking. I cannot find a good strategy/positions for my power ranger that I feel is going to dramatically help the team.

In Legacy, I know my strategy and I go in feeling like our team can win and I am going to be a big help to that.

In Temple, I’m ok…I bring timer alerts and good map awareness, but where are the best positions for soloq? Right now, I float in the space between mid and home to stop people pushing far and so I can quickly +1 mid. But I feel like there’s better.

In Forest, Ranger is tough to position in mid. If I stay on ledge/ pet is useless (unless I get lucky and someone is on other ledge). I can’t drop down or I get a beat down.
Question: Would switching to Ground Targeting Traps for Forest be a better Strategy?

In Khylo – I start on Treb, shoot first, then move the treb to mansion proper and attack mid for the first 20 seconds of the match, then go back home and float home/mid.
But the home/ mid strategy is really lacking. After I jump up building on either side, my pet can’t join the fight without running all the way around….again, losing all the benefits of pets. What is the best Strategy/Position/ Set UP here. Again, I’m thinking of Ground Targeting Traps.

What happens to our points if someone rages quits or DCs. Do we still lose full points if we were under 200 points?

This is what I would like too. A Global chance of winning or the points I receive for winning or potential losing. I agree….when I am losing and we don’t have a chance to come back , I tend to just say fk it and get frustrated and mentally check out.

We removed seeing other player’s rank to prevent harassment and the shaming of new players.

We don’t show MMR for the same reason.

I feel like harassment and shaming happen already. At least with the information present, in some cases, the people doing the harassing and shaming can be shown to be idiots.

With the new matchmaking system, after a while I really shouldn’t be going against newbies. Because I’m an optimist I believe that if people knew a player was new or just starting out they might be more willing to offer tips and advice. Right now, some assume that if you’re doing ranked queue you know what you’re doing and that simply isn’t true. I want the pvp community to grow. Showing us as much information as possible could help us know who needs help, who is having a bad day (it happens), and who is just a jerk (yes, I can be an optimist and a realistic at the same time).

I would agree on that, if i saw a person was a newbie, i would be more inclined to explain strategies. However, as an experienced PvP player, I think MMR could be shown in Ranked area only. Practice and unranked should be there to learn. When i first started to play PvP, i played almost 100 matches in hotjoin before playing soloq. This game me valuable experience and practice before progressing against more experienced players.

I understand atm with the reset that experienced players are getting mixed with various ranked players, If you feel newb bashing still is likely to happen, may i suggest an Overall MMR for each team. I just want to know overall, how experienced my team is compared to those, and how likely i am to win. Ok, i get that if i see a low MMR on my team then i’m with new players, i might moan a little, but after a few weeks this shouldn’t be happening.

I started this topic because i have no idea whats happening to my ladder ranking unless i constantly look at the leaderboard.

My example is this… If my team is winning… GREAT! However, if my team gets down 300-100 on Battle of Khylo for example, i know winning is pretty slim and i don’t really care so don’t fight that much. However, if i knew that i was playing a team that i was expected to beat, and that a crushing defeat would mean -3 pts to my ladder ranking, i’d be fighting hard to try and minimise the defeat.
I don’t mind if MMR isn’t shown, thats not what i’m asking for – just the odds on us winning… maybe in the form of a bar _____I____] like this show that one team is more likely to win.
Then at the end of the match, when u get a score breakdown, perhaps have a ladder ranking change number added – so when it says:
Mikei the Mighty 120
now add in the ladder change. For example, a small win would be +2, whereas a big defeat would be -3

I’m the typical player….just play for fun. I use to be just under 1000 rating. Which was fine. I always felt like I had a chance to win. Now my teams are getting blown out.

You’re losing people like me. I don’t care if I my rank is bad…as long as I’m playing other people at my level. Increase the effin wait times or something….this is getting really old.

At what point are you seeing players join teams from spectator mode? Rewards are based on time played on a team, so are people forgoing partial rewards to be on the winning team?

Spectate is not bad…it’s really good. I wish you could look at people’s gear and traits too.

However, what is bad is the Stacking from Spectate.

What you do is, click on all people on both teams and look down at their pvp rank. then you make the judgement as to which side you are going to join.

Next, if it’s going poorly, you jump in spectate, wait till auto-balance, then jump over to the winning side.

Other thing people do is join a winning side to make it 5 v 4 (or some other imbalance number)

No one cares about losing the points because they joined late, you can make up for that by waiting and then auto-balance volunteering if you care.

People join Hotjoin for two reasons:
1. To practice new specs professions
2. It’s a place for Baddies to beat up on Noobs

Fixes:

1. Randomize start, don’t allow people to pick which side they want to join. (Allow for teams/groups to stay together- some people want to play with their friends)
2. If you are in spectate mode, you are never allowed to join the winning side once it begins.
3. Joining the losing side from Spectate mode counts toward Auto-Balance Volunteer Points.
4. Leaving match to join Spectate debuffs for you for rest of match.
