The doom and gloom preaching isn’t about phantasm builds, it’s about everything else. This is the most ironic part of the whole thing. The nerf seemed to be targeted at phantasm builds, and yet phantasm builds are the least affected by the nerf, because it nerfed the WRONG part of the builds.

the scepter AA should be redesigned yea, making it more like greatsword AA in terms of concept. 3 laser beams instead of 3 floating eggs sounds way cooler and would have a better/faster effect. it would also help if it had any condition on it, be it bleed, short torment, burn, just to make it more appealing~
to be fair when the game first came out the big plan was to be scepter/torch staff condition mesmer but anet just doesn’t want to let me >_>
The main issue that arises here is that they decided to make shattered conditions a very good party support trait. The need to shatter collides with the need to keep the phantasms up by default. A lot of mesmers, myself included, have been looking forward to this change. However pushing iCelerity makes you doubt whether you will want to shatter or not. I think that is one of the main reasons for dissatisfaction, at least for my part.
considering the scepter still being the trash that it is I highly doubt that we’ll stop seeing sword as the ‘obligatory’ mh.
I don’t think the majority of ppl who are happy that mesmers are kitten ed realize yet that most mesmers don’t care about the effect of the changes in pvp as much as it is very annoying in pve.
I’m fairy sure that at least 75% of the kittening from the mesmer side could have been prevented if they just separated the skill/trait changes/effects in pve and pvp…

Well retaliation builds are pretty strong as it is, mesmer was a nice counter to that.
I agree that BF was maybe a bit too strong but as you said, either/or should have been done, either cd increase or the effect change, by no means both >_>
the blurred frenzy change was huge ._. it’s not just retal that’ll hit u thru it, never just consider things u see in patch notes. retal was the reason for the change, but the consequences are much greater lol.

pyro are you sure about those numbers? I did some testing after the patch yday and it seemed to me that the base hp was around 5.5k, 8k with SoI, and something like 9k with SoI and trait :o

I ain’t even upset about the pvp aspect of this that much, more about the huge nerf it is in pve where not every dumbo runs a shatter build. the only reason I bother posting here is cause the geniouses that are our dear developers seem only to read this stupid kitten section.

With Signet of Illusions fix we won’t need to pump out as much phantasms as before, to begin with.
Here is a diverse build for you: 20/20/0/30/0, take Restorative Mantras instead of IC, enjoy boosted healing and more condition removal with Mantra of Recovery across the board.
If anything, this + new Signet of Illusions will make Phantasm Mesmer even more OP 1v1 and a bit more viable in anything other than that.
Khm so here’s the deal:
Without iCelerity and with a fix to SoI phantasm mesmers will be resorting to SoI to try and keep their little glass figures up longer to compensate. However Shattered Conditions will remove conditions from the group on shatter, so you’ll want to shatter stuff for that reason. However without iCelerity, you might not always be able to, unless you absolutely always spec Deceptive Evasion, which if you were a Phantasm Mesmer you often would replace with Phantasmal fury which again is a dps loss. Then there’s also that you’ll have less phantasm uptime cause recasting them will be a pain in the butt and circlejerk this around a bit, might be you’ll see the problem…
All in all I don’t see the logic in shattered conditions change and moving iCelerity so far up… Unless they plan on making mesmer another ele with 0 10 0 30 30…..
It’s pretty comparable. I mean if you go 30 in arcana you’ll still be fine, but if not ur f’d up beyond repair.
You can now have two phantasm builds. One with at least 25 illusions, for more reliable casting of phantasms. Another with the old setup, except without the 5 points in illusions, for more damage but less reliability.
