ANet has never liked speed clears or runs, but it remains to be seen if they’ll do something about it. To be honest, their attempts to fix speed clears in GW1 were dismal failures; the multiple updates to Underworld to make it harder just made it SO tough that most normal groups gave up on trying to complete Underworld normally, leaving gimmicky speed clear groups the only viable option of beating Underworld (within a reasonable time frame).
You could also exchange the scraps for Zephyr Supply Boxes, which have a rare chance to contain a Kite Fortune. Those in turn can drop more scraps or a Golden Fortune Ticket. Of course, this is basically a “last ditch gamble”, so if you’d rather not risk it, you can just wait until the Zephyr Sanctum returns and hope that the skins are still available.
^ While your above comment is correct with regards to the increasing prices of gold → gems, the gem-gold conversion rate IS also a gold sink because while it costs about 3.5g to buy 100 gems with gold, you only get 2.5g when buying gold with 100 gems. Therefore, the more people using the currency exchange, the more gold is being siphoned out of the economy.
“Not the leg…” Whenever my female Norn says that, I can’t help but smile. XD
No idea, but it seems to be a mechanic to stop players just smacking him in the face at point blank range, which negates a lot of his special abilities. Of course, if you have stability, activate that and whack the stuffing out of him for as long as the stability lasts.
Try and fight them in a populated map like Queensdale too. Having other players around to help fight the Champion can make it a lot less annoying.
If the Gauntlet is returning, I hope they make them account bound again so I won’t have 5 different sets of tickets sitting in my bank. >.<
Ehhh, I’m not so thrilled with the idea of more boss tiers. I think a boss that’s even harder than Liadri would result in a LOT of destroyed keyboards and monitors. XD
I’ve completed all of the Living Story achievements released to date (except for the Gauntlet achievements which I’m still working on), but I heartily support the achievements for festivals returning again each year. I don’t see why new players who weren’t around the first time shouldn’t have the same opportunity to earn the achievements we did.
You can have all the mithril ore I dig up you want, as long as you pay 50c each. It might not cost that now, but it will sometime in the next month, and I don’t need the money now-now-now, so I just post them for 50c even when the going rate is around 26c… Undecut me all you want, the tide will rise and mine will sell.
Interesting… I recently sold a stack of Mithril Ore for 29c each. For fast moving commodities, I typically just sell my goods at whatever the current lowest seller is offering them for (or 1c below), but perhaps I should look at pricing my Mithril at 35 – 40c. Thanks for the tip.
On a related note, there’s a Seraph in Divinity’s Reach who constantly says, “Another day, another gold piece” to a fellow Seraph. If being in the Seraph pays a gold a day, forget adventuring! I’m joining the Seraph! :P
On top of what Maethor said,
She acts as the leader of the Shining Blade during the book. Given Anise’s title, it’s possible something happened to her in the past 70 years.
Or perhaps Anise is simply a front. She’s capable and skilled, to be sure, but maybe Livia is still pulling the strings from behind the scenes, and just put Anise up there to deflect suspicion, and well-founded concern, about having a human live for so long.
“Ambrosia”, legendary food item. Gives the same stats as the Dragon’s Revelry Starcake. Unlimited uses.
I’m getting about 70 – 100 a day. The Glorious chests scattered in each zone within the Pavillion gives an average of 10 Sprockets, and then farming about 6 of the events should give me another 20 – 30 before I stop farming for the day.
Still, I’ll need to buy up at least half of the Sprockets I need to learn all the recipes. I only have plans to craft one Superior Sigil of Malice, so I can just set aside a stack of Sprockets for that.
Anthony did state originally that the Sprockets are a permanent addition to the game, but technically, so are the Candy Corn and Zhaitaffy. So, just to be on the safe side, I’m learning all the recipes before August is over in case the vendors disappear.
With the new Champion loot bags, supply for the Lodestones should (theoretically) have increased too. Personally I got my very first Corrupted Lodestone from, ironically, Pyroxis in the Crown Pavillion. Of course, prices may remain the same or even rise if demand increases to match the supply.
I’m not bothered by the Watchknight’s “details”, although I’ll admit I was a bit surprised by the effort put into their design. I think they look quite beautiful myself.
(I’ll probably not think the same way once they go “Terminator” and start trying to kill us though.)
Oh, I know. I’m waiting for it to hit about 20 – 25g before finally dropping coin on it.
For the Rapier, I’m waiting for it to hit about 5g. Call me a miser, but anything over a gold is something I put serious consideration into before buying. XD
Entropy has become my new long-term skin goal for my Warrior’s hammer.
Queen’s Gauntlet will return, possibly as part of the activity rotation or even other events. In any case, you’ll be able to complete those achievements at a later date.
Please note that it’s very important that the achievements done later should be retroactively assigned to the Gauntlet tab. We don’t want a new tab with new achievements like you did for crab toss and other activities.
Thank you for the clarification, Anthony! It’s very reassuring to know that, if a player just doesn’t have the gear or the skills to complete the Gauntlet at this time, they can try again at a later date when the Gauntlet returns and they’ve had a chance to improve themselves.
I’d just like to echo pavo’s request that the achievements remain in its existing tab and not get a whole bunch of similar (but new) achievements like we did for Crab Toss and the other activities. I’d also like clarification that the Liadri mini will also still be obtainable if we complete the Gauntlet in the future when it returns.
I’m going to submit “Queen’s Soiree” as my prediction. The Jubilee finishes off with a grand dance and ball (which is, of course, gatecrashed by the Aetherblades and Scarlet). At the same time, the GW2 anniversary celebrations take part, so we’ll be getting birthday presents.
ANet has said they’re aware of the feedback we’ve been giving on the forums, so hopefully this is one issue that they’ve taken note of.
Like everyone else here, the pace of the Living Story is getting quite draining and I’d like it to be either slowed down some more, or have the non-open world content remain permanently in the game so players can complete it at their leisure.
Another way the chests can bug is if both you and another player open the chest at the same time. So make sure you’re the only one opening it if you and a bunch of other players are up there!
There are a total of 44 Balloon Towers across the entire world, so if you get a few bugged, it’s still possible to complete the achievement. I agree that the bug is extremely annoying, however. To be on the safe side, after a balloon tower is cleared, wait a few moments for players to open the chest before opening it yourself so that no one else is doing it at the same time as you.
Yep. Everybody’s been buying it to give them more endurance regen against Liadri.
I wonder, will we be able to get more watchwork sprockets after this jubilee is over? If you want a full set of the superiors, you need 6 stacks of sprockets!
Would like to know this too! If the Watchknights are going away at the end of Queen’s Jubilee, that doesn’t leave us a lot of time to gather all the Sprockets we need.
But despite that, I truly do appreciate your taking the time to post your thoughts.
I would just like to echo minbariguy’s remark here. I’m in much the same boat as he is (see my post a few posts above), but I would like to add that I’m thankful for your feedback and comments, Anthony. (And Colin and Martin and everyone else.) It’s quite reassuring to know that our concerns ARE being heard, and hopefully we can all find a mutually pleasant approach going forward.
I pronounce it as “Goal-em”. The other pronounciation just reminds me of a wretched little troglodyte hiding in the darkness and whispering “My Preciousssss” to himself over and over. :P
The Queen’s Gauntlet will return, yes. However, I’m still not certain that the achievements will still be completable the next time it returns. After all, Crabtoss, Southsun Survival and Sanctum Sprint all returned as activities, but it’s still no longer possible to complete the achievements that came during their respective releases.
I always enjoy new content. I just dislike new TEMPORARY content. I’m not complaining about having new titles, items and achievements to work towards; I’m complaining about the fact that we have to do it NOWNOWNOW before it’s yanked away from us.
Of course, things that affect the open world shouldn’t stay out there permanently. I wouldn’t want to have Periscopes/Balloons/SAB boxes littering the world forever after, but at the same time, I really don’t understand why content like the Molten Facility, Aetherblade Retreat, or the Queen’s Gauntlet has to disappear. Put a “Memoires” NPC into the Home District that allows you to re-visit this content whenever you like; this allows players to do the achievements and gain the rewards at a time and place of their choosing.
Festival content that returns on a regular basis is fine, as long as players still have the opportunity to complete achievements and gain rewards from the first time around.
It seems that the balloons do NOT reset. You need to find 30 unique balloons across the entire world map. This could make it problematic for players with only low level characters.
2 weeks is too short, I agree. I would prefer that the release schedule gets increased to every 4 weeks. It also gives ANet more time to polish and tweak things.
It’s not the first time exploiters have ruined things for the rest of us (see first-time completion of Canach’s dungeon and Aetherblade JP) either.
Agreed! I think the Komalie dagger is the best dagger skin I’ve seen yet in GW2.
Personal tastes may differ and all that.
People were being exploitative and creating new characters by the dozens to get the tickets, deleting the characters and starting over. That’s why.
@Zenon: Well, that’s the thing. I’ve got her up to 3 stacks of Exhausted before, but it didn’t seem to make any noticeable difference to the frequency or damage of her attacks. In any case, dodging straight into her whirling charge seems to work best.
Haven’t fought the Heavy Hammer or Blazing Pistols Champions yet. Whirling Edge has been the most annoying Champion so far. Does very little damage to start off with, but as her health drops… Wow. Suddenly she’s two and one-shotting you. Not quite sure how her exhaustion mechanic is supposed to work yet either.
I prefer Entropy over Genesis.
Archdiviner Hammer FTW!
So what’s the general consensus with Liadri? Is she easier/harder than T3/4 Trials pre-patch (or post-patch)?
Still better than smashing pinatas. XD
They apparently still drop from JP chests. Probably an oversight.
I remember looking at the Sanctum Sprint frequent sprinter achievement and it did say it was repeatable up to 3 times, so presumably the others are capped too.
I haven’t seen any Steam creatures myself when escorting the emissary (I’ve seen Renegades and Separatists in Fields of Ruin, Hyleks in Caledon Forest, Aetherblades everywhere), but I’d caution against jumping to conclusions too quickly. Perhaps Scarlet or whoever’s behind the Aetherblades has simply discovered a way to appropriate the steam portal technology by studying them in Lornar’s Pass. I won’t rule out the Grand High Sovereign theory, of course, but it wouldn’t really make a lot of sense to someone who hasn’t played the Infinity Ball storyline.
I personally don’t think so. Colin’s blog post indicated that they were going to make blues/greens give back consumables that could be used as MF, but that particular functionality is not in the game yet.
Yep, the Opening Ceremony was really enjoyable.
I’m still waiting for Braham to make a drunken pass at Rox. XD
The Queen’s Champion that spawns at the balloon tower is random. If it’s not the one you want, try another balloon tower or come back again later.
I’ve personally seen the following:
- Champion of the Heavy Hammer (haven’t fought this guy)
- Champion of the Whirling Edge (axe. Very annoying)
- Champion of the Lightning Blade (sword. Fairly easy with blocks/CC)
- Champion of the Stony Shield (shield. Reflects a lot, but extremely easy in melee)
Just to see what characters of other races say to Jennah and the others. I did it on my human, but I’m awfully curious to know what Charr characters get from the NPCs.
Yes, I would like them to be account bound. IMO the mistake was making each character get 5 tickets. While it was welcome, the obvious result was that people were just going to create and delete characters ad infinatum to build up a huge stockpile of them.
I had 5 support tokens left after the election, so I sold them, but I agree that it would be nice to offer compensation for the players who have (possibly) stacks of candidate buttons remaining. It does feel a bit like a slap in the face to players who spent lots of time voting (and wearing down their mouse button). Maybe they shouldn’t be worth 1.1 silver each, but have them be worth SOMETHING at least…
Use stuns/CC to keep the dog away from the meat, is what I’ve heard works.
