Seems like going through the back wall in Dredge Fractal doesn’t work now either. Lots of bug fixing.
I find Mimic really good for Fyonna’s Nightmare Tree. She’s too tall to feedback the eggs, and Mimic will 80% block every egg and give you a projectile to reflect. the other 20% it works as stated and you take 1 egg hit to absorb.
That and staff is best in melee range, or rather, <600. Greatsword gets worse the closer you get to melee.
Well, unless the Dev straight up lied to us, RNG just punched you in the face so hard. Which really sucks..since 0 for 30 is statistically possible, but very very improbable. Sorry about that :/
If the Dev lied/didn’t know what he/she was talking about, then perhaps there is. Needs testing…but who wants to test the possibility of losing mass cash?
You have some good ideas there, now put them down in concrete form and focus on which aspects of the Mesmer you like the most. From there, you can then find your primary weapons and build, so on and so forth.
Survivability? Well you have some options. I noticed you said you liked focus for swiftness and iWarden, so you might want to check out the Inspiration trait tree for the reflect on Focus skills and 20% CDR.
That also opens up healing mantra support builds, thanks to Restorative Mantras. (AoE 2.6k + .2*Healing Power heal on end of a mantra channel). You can build those pretty tanky, with Cleric’s or other such gear with vitality or toughness, healing power isn’t strictly necessary as your mantra heal really doesn’t scale all that well with it.
Other survivability options are available, if you enjoy staff. Going 25 into Chaos for 5% toughness to condition damage + Rabid gear (Cond, prec, toughness) turns you into a somewhat tanky (if you get some vitality in there) staff + offhand mesmer that hits very well with conditions and Sharper Images in Dueling. Further benefited by Nourishment (6% toughness, 4% vitality to condition damage at level 80 Nourishment) and Superior Runes of the Undead, which do the same thing as the trait. It all stacks for a large amount of condition damage.
Another variation on survivability is a shatter build with any of these stats and side playstyles. There’s tons of Mesmer builds out there, experiment, figure out your playstyle, and go from there.
The non craftable sets -are- getting better, albeit slowly. FotM and dungeon jewelry is creating jewelry for non-craftable sets, and the non-craftables have a lot of representation in dungeons.
Rabid, for example, is from Cadeceus Manor, Twilight Arbor, Honor of the Waves, and Arah. Doing those will net you an armor set + weapons, and the chance for dungeon jewelry drops for the jewelry. Course, those are rare so you may have to buy them..and they don’t come cheap.
Yeah I just started doing this, it feels so -weird- being able to farm something on a mesmer. I watch other classes dps them down while I insta-half health with iWarden reflect then finish up with a blurred frenzy and f1. Done.
Next one eats feedback and confusion finisher from GS. Good times.
It’s random. you get 10-50 back, I got 33 on my last conversion.
The recipe is 250 Silk, 1 Gossamer, 5 Piles of Crystalline Dust, and 5 Philosopher’s Stones.
Always works for me, try switching the order you place them into the forge. Otherwise, clearly bugged but not sure of the solution.
Well, world event chests seem to drop at least exotics now (Got a named Focus from the Caledon Forest world event), so I’d assume the dragons drop the same if not better now.
Who can apply that much constant burning though? Seeing as burning is very low duration and high damage. Fire elementalists and a bunch of guardians with more condition damage than a staff mesmer, which probably has high condition damage unless you’re using it as a shatter/defensive weapon, in which case does the burning proc matter -that- much?
Well, at least with burning your stacks don’t cease to exist unlike with max stack bleeding. It just waits on the previous durations to finish. On normal mobs that’s a problem, but odds are on veterans+ you’ll get your burning off. Depends on what you fight more often really.
You could also farm Fractal Relics and make the Beta Capacitor for an agony resistance slot. It’s an alternative if you don’t want to spend much money, just have to do FoTM quite a bit.
1-9 = Vials
10-19 = Ring chance from Daily, Shards/Vials
20-29 = Ring/Infused Ring chance from Daily, Globs/Shards/Vials, Fractal Weapons
I believe that’s the progression of fractal-specific drops.
Don’t know if the recipes are soulbound, but there is dungeon jewelry on the TP, so either it’s sellable or the jewelry pieces drop soulbound on use from the respective boss that drops recipes as well.
Agreed there. I have Carrion Jewels in my upgrade slots on my Rabid Jewelry + 2 Carrion Rings while I wait on Ascended. It’s pretty nice.
I personally run a Condition Bunker build with Staff + Whatever offhands I feel are appropriate for the situation ( I run mostly PvE Dungeons, and I have a Staff/GS/Sword/Sword/Pistol).
If you want a staff-focused build, condition damage is your best bet. Rampager’s is good, and easy to acquire due to being craftable (prec, +cond, +power). I personally went with full Rabid (cond, +tough, +prec) with Runes of the Undead. With level 80 food I can hit 1,985 condition damage, it’s pretty fun. I would break 2k if I had ascended rings…but alas.
At least the rarer stat combinations are slowly becoming available. With Dungeon jewelry and ascended rings/back, there’s Rabid and a few other previously no-jewelry stat combinations out there. Course, there’s still no Exotic version of Crests, so upgrade slots are sort of what would you like to amplify your build with (or go with the rare Crests),
They are craftable…if you get the Recipe drop from the appropriate dungeon, which again, is hilariously rare.
They drop from the appropriate dungeon, whether in actual trinket form or the Recipe for them.
Be warned ,they’re stupid rare. Like, it seems rarer than RNG’ing a precursor. It took an entire week for one of the TA dungeon trinkets to finally be put up on Trading Post, just to have a listing.
Did all 3 paths of TA, got 2 bags each run (18 additional tokens, karma varied between 300 and 400, maybe because of level).
One dropped from the jungle wurm/vine each time, and I think I got the other ones from Leurent/Mesmer/Mrs.Transformsintospider.
It’s 3 bags per run in TA (possibly, the masterwork Jewelry takes the bag drop slot).
Up – Wurm, Malrona, Fyonna
Forward/Foward – Wurm, Champ Warder on the bridge in front of archers, Leurent
Forward Up – Wurm, Defiler, Vevina
They’re not in the vendor. My thoughts were perhaps you get the recipes for all the dungeon-based jewelry from Fractals?
Mesmers who willingly accept these changes are naïve or have never fought against people who knew well enough what they’re doing to prevent the mesmer from face rolling.
Mesmers who willingly accept these changes have only fought idiots that do not understand the class and don’t care to and as a result have an over-inflated sense of worth thereby blinding themselves the the kitten hole mesmers are really in when they have to fight someone with half a brain.
Mesmers who willingly accept these changes are willingly accepting “fixes” that break further broken mechanics, cut the DPS of a primary source of damage into a third, and significantly cripple a fundamental aspect of their own class.
Mesmers who willingly accept these changes make baseless accusations to mesmers who do not share their unpopular opinion as being unskilled players who are bandwagoning in order to remain in a fictional position of dominance.
Maybe it’s not the Mesmers who are complaining that are bad. Maybe, just maybe,
mesmers who willingly accept these changes are the ones who are bad.
Well said. I’m a Condition Bunker mesmer and therefore this doesn’t affect me much…but it’s still complete ridiculousness. Hoping ANet fesses up and fixes this soon.
It’s not worth it. Syn just doesn’t respond to reason. Alas.
just like every class, of course it goes on cd… if a melee class uses there skill and you aren’t in range it goes on cd(i assume) so how is mesmer any different? if you miss the skill you don’t do damage
not sure why you’re complaining about it though… seems very petty
oh and of course you can’t damage the thing in coe if it’s invulnerable… neither can anyone else, if you use your skill when you know its invulnerable then that’s your mistake not anyone elses
just like every class, of course it goes on cd… if a melee class uses there skill and you aren’t in range it goes on cd(i assume) so how is mesmer any different? if you miss the skill you don’t do damage
see->
You cast zerker or warden on a pack.. the ONE target you had in the pack was blocking, invulnerable, or made you blind
you now lose aoe on THE WHOLE PACK
Which is completely stupid. That’s like making Dragon’s Tooth fail just because your target blocked while casting or making Death Blossom fail to cast because your target had aegis.
The problem is they aren’t like regular skills. Not only does it function like a pet summon, many of them function like targeted AoEs which don’t normally don’t completely fail as an AoE just because your target avoided it. It’s still a functional AoE and it’s still a pet summon so both of these things should have been considered and weren’t.
they function as a targeted aoe but they aren’t though and they’re a single target skill which means they’re prone to blind/block
Please elaborate how a skill can function as a targeted AoE and yet not be a targeted AoE. Dragon’s Tooth and Death Blossom are both single target AoEs and yet they will still deal damage to nearby enemies regardless of blind/block.
death blossom = 3 hits = 3 blinds/blocks to negate
the skill for phantasmal berserker = 1 hit = 1 blind to negate
no idea about dragons toothdo you really not understand that?
But that’s not how it works. They function as AoEs so they are not affected by blind.
iZerker hits three times in a single button press just like Death Blossom so by that logic it should take three blinds to stop it. Dragons Tooth and Death Blossom are just two examples of skills that function as targeted AoEs, there are many more that work exactly the same way.my mistake for thinking a single target sword throw that creates an illusion that can aoe is different than 3 dagger hits, it’s almost as if every class has different skills!
So which is which?
i clearly said that if the mesmer skill is used, like every other skill in the game, it should go on cooldown, not that every skill is the same
i simply used the melee out of range message as an example
But…it already does go on cooldown when we use it…but why should we lose damage, utility, and survival to a simple dodge?
