If you mean forging your Exotic Fractal backpiece into an Ascended Fractal backpiece, you can indeed pick new stats. The forge returns a brand new item that is now ascended.

I did my one and done. Bifrost is all I need…
Until something comes along that I like of course.
I’m definitely going gold. Omnomberry Bar’s +40% in addition to the 20% from utility makes certain dungeon runs very profitable as the bosses drop 10-17s base, that’s an extra 1.6x silver per run just from that alone. It’ll add up.
Hey, just wanted to chime in on the support PvE twist I threw on this build. I -finally- got enough PTV (still not quite optimized as best I could hope) to have a solid shot at it.
Stats:
Power: 1,716
Precis: 1,173
Tough: 1,780
Vit: 1,672
Armor: 2,700 HP: 22,642 Cond Damage: 379 Healing Pow: 465
Traits: 0/0/20/30/20
Chaos V, X Inspiration I or IV, VIII, X Illusions II, VII
Runes: Superior Runes of Altruism
Overall it plays pretty well. 100% uptime on Retal and Protection, lots of Chaos Armor, my mantras AoE heal and Mantra of Recovery provides a 100% uptime on 3x might + ~50% uptime on Fury, mitigating the overall lack of precision in the build. I’ve done a few dungeons with it and felt useful.
I’m using a Rabid staff (Bifrost) cause it would feel a shame to not use the rainbows when I can. If I get higher in Fracts I’d probably use a PTV staff to fully optimize and working on PTV amulet + backpiece.
Thanks again for the awesome build Pyro, it’s made my supporting really entertaining.
does this mean that if i ran lvl 10 and my reward lvl is 30, i would get a 30 chest for doing lvl 10?
even lvl 2?
You’d get a level 10 chest. The -lower- of the two.
It’s based on the lower of either Personal Reward level or Current Scale.
Reward: 30, Current: 25 = you get a lv 25 daily chest
Reward: 30, Current: 40 = you get a lv 30 daily chest.

Also, everyone who has 1m+ karma to spare is dumping their karma all at once on the boxes, creating a huge burst of supply, if you will.
Give it a week, they’ll go back up as the supply gets eaten up and people don’t have 1m+ karma to blow on boxes. Now about the t6 crafting material box from Laurels, who knows?
You’re still posting that? We know that lodestones are bit imbalanced…
Got my Bifrost at 940 hours played myself.
Sooo glad it didn’t need Charged Lodestones, that kitten is insane.
Yeah, since the boss on that path is a structure it makes sense the chest would drop Recipe. Probably only path that does so.
EDIT: Arbor’s Embrace is +22 Healing Power, +16 Precision, +16 Vitality (Magi’s) just to have a sense of completeness on TA :p
(edited by Zileve.2089)
Wow, that really -is- useful to know. Thanks Pyro!
It’s pretty fun reading this thread and seeing what everyone’s coming up with. Keep at it!
@Pyroatheist Thanks for the support!
I’ve already been using the Altruism runes, and either the cooldown is actually about ~13 seconds or it doesn’t let you reapply the might/fury as long as you still have the previous’ activations buffs since using it 11 seconds after usually doesn’t work, but using it .5 seconds after the 3 might stacks from the first one works basically every time.
Either way, since the Mantra of Recovery charges count as a heal and proc the rune, you still basically have 100% uptime on it with the right timing.
I’m still grabbing my PTV gear from AC, but I think this could work fairly well as dungeon support.
I really like this build.
I was thinking though, since I spend 99% of my time in dungeons, that I could tweak this towards a supportish tank build with the following changes:
0/0/20/30/20 rather than 0/0/20/20/30
Superior Rune of Altruism with Restorative Mantras and Mantra of Recovery as the heal.
Pros:
→ An additional +15% boon duration increase
→ Little bit more healing power, but healing power is really not necessary for Restorative Mantras due to the high base and terrible scaling (.2)
→ AoE support healing when necessary and due to how Mantra of Recovery works with the Superior Runes of Altruism, a 100% uptime on 3 stacks of might minimum and ~50% uptime on fury, mitigating the loss of Shattered Strength at least partially.
→ the additional +100 Vitality compensates for the Vitality lost on the runes already.
→ If necessary, Mantra of Pain becomes a spammable ~2.9k heal and Mantra of Resolve becomes a solid condition removal and another heal.
Cons
→ Loss of iPersona = less damage on shatters, less reliability of f4/f3 when you need an oh kitten button
→ Loss of toughness from runes.
→ Less damage off of F2
→ No Shattered Strength
→ Less Recharge Rate from Illusion Tree
Again, this is from a 100% PvE perspective for support in dungeons. I’ve already been running a heal/support build but this looks like a better base to use than what I’ve been doing. Overall I really like it, what do you think?
Hehe. Such an awesome buff to LEblanc would have her clone act like Shaco’s exploding clone on targets that she proc’d Q on. I can dream to play Mesmer!LeBlanc.
True, a fair point. Now we just need Leblanc’s passive clone to “shatter” on an opponent if she QR’s them with clone out. Tee hee.
Similar themes, although Mesmers don’t exactly have QR instakill in their arsenal..
I have like 3 stacks of Oranges since I do a ton of Twilight Arbor, and they’re very common from the Thorned Sacks I get.
Thanks Dempsey, I’ll remember that!
Good luck Sinergy Run some dungeons with me, always some nice cash :p
Sounds pretty fun. Mesmer gathers would be -awesome-. Sign me up!
I’m just waiting for Dual Pistol Mesmer so I can wield Lyss and Ilya at the same time. :P
If you were a Necromancer or Elementalist, I’d weep for you. But it is oddly fitting for a Mesmer, I suppose.
Yeah, mesmers can get away with butterflies and rainbows. Eles/Necros? Maybe not so much.
Here’s to hoping the new staff Legendary when they release new ones (Hopefully) fits Ele/Necro better.
At long last after god knows how many dungeon runs, how many WvW jumping puzzles, or just how many poor, poor skritt and corrupted quaggans murdered, I finally have completed my major GW2 Goal.
Took so long but sooo worth it. Here’s to everyone who helped me on my journey!
Perhaps, but in the long run it isn’t a big deal as the other 3 portions of Gift of Mastery are account bound and the gift itself is account bound. Just craft it on the alt and transfer it over to use.
I -do- agree though, no reason why it should be soulbound, but it’s workable.
If something immune to burning makes your entire class useless you should quit guild wars 2.
And if you apply real-world logic to video games, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Oh I agree, logically it’s a valid opinion. Just…for gameplay reasons, there is 0 reason to do this. Condition builds are already hampered by stacks and making certain monsters who would logically be unable to bleed unable to bleed just makes them even worse.
I always use sarcasm, that’s just how I roll. If it offended, my apologies.
Yes, because conditions need to be worsened. Some logic they used for conditions (certain monsters having stability, but that’s more a property of the particular monster more than any “logic.”)
This is one of those gameplay > logic ideas. I’d love to be a full condition build, run into a pack of ghosts, and proceed to do no damage! /sarcasm
No need for that. Now if conditions would do a % damage to structures or have cond damage increase power by a % for structures, that would be nice.
True. PUG’ing is a different matter, but then, isn’t it always? I usually Gw2LFG my TA runs, probably up to 200+ runs of that kitten dungeon. But hey, I love it.
With PUG"s it’s just a matter of praying the aggro is on me so I can range safespot while team murders Greater. And oddly enough, that’s what happens.
The safespot for ranging the wurms still exists, it’s slightly smaller and Anet parked a flower right on top of it so you can’t literally afk. Whoever the wurm AI is targeting (aka, whoever they’re spitting on) should go behind the ridge. This causes the wurms to keep trying to spit at that person but they can’t. Rest of party can melee Greater to their heart’s content or range them.
Condensed: Wurm aggro bearer LoS’s them on ridge, rest of party kills Greater. You don’t even need to range safespot if you don’t have the aggro and the wurms are LoS’d.
I super love Runes of Altruism for a PvE dungeon support build with Restorative Mantras and Mantra of Recovery. might and fury for everyone!
Looks pretty fun, I like it.
Full Rabid with Superior Rune of the Undead, Rabid jewelry w/ a Carrion Jewel, Ascended backpiece is good here (Rabid stats).
300 from your Illusions Traitline
90 from your SIgnet of Domination
Bowl of Tropical Mousse Food = +100 tough (which gives you 5-16 cond damage, depending on your tough % to cond), +70 condition damage
Master Tuning Crystal Nourishment = 6% of tough to cond, 4% of vit to cond
That puts me at about 2004 without any might stacks or Sigil of Corruption stacks.
EDIT: I prefer going straight cond damage in my build, duration is secondary. Since most of your bleeds will be from your clones doing sharper images and your staff clones throwing winds of chaos and they don’t get your condition duration, sadly. Still good to have some if you want it.

~18-20% rate to return an -exotic- from 4 rares. -Not- a 20% chance to get a precursor. It’s FAR less than that.
Anytime. I’ve seen Tortured Root drop and I have Nightmare Coil, so I can confirm all 3 ;p (Vevina = Arbor’s by process of elimination)
And for Arah, I would guess at Operative’s Creed being P2 and Bloodstone Fragment being P4. Since there’s 2 Inquest Operative bosses on P2 and doesn’t the Seer path have something to do with the Bloodstones? (I don’t know, haven’t done it yet). That’s just my spitballing.
(edited by Zileve.2089)
I can help on TA.
P1 (Up) Fyonna – Tortured Root
P2 (Forward/Forward) Leurent – Nightmare Coil
P3 (Forward/Up) Vevina – Arbor’s Embrace
Seeing as you’re intending to get charged cores/lodestones and they come from a chest, MF is basically wasted for you. It doesn’t affect chests.
each dungeon (besides arah) has 2 jewelry recipes + a soulbound lv 80 exotic backpiece dropping from the respective path boss. Arah has 3 jewelry and 1 backpiece.
At the moment your options are buy off TP or get crazy lucky. Good luck :x
Although I can’t talk, since I have a recipe and it’s fueling my legendary so well.
I’ve only seen 2, and one of them was mine.
Got the Nightmare Coil recipe from Leurent in TA with an Omnomberry Bar, so 30% MF.
Saw a Tortured Root recipe from Fyonna in TA drop for a friend with 30% MF as well. Never seen a recipe before or since those two, and all I do are dungeons.
Both of us were level 80 w/ 400 Jewelcrafting.
The recipes are account bound.
If you want a full set of Rabid jewelry with BiS, these are your options:
Backpiece: Ascended – Endless Quiver or one of the books (not sure which)
Accessory: Tortured Root – TP for 12-15g each, or recipe from TA (Fyonna in Up). Very rare.
Ring: Ascended – Ouroboros Loop/Khilibron’s Phylactery, or Plague – TP for 35-40g each, or recipe from CM (not sure who)
Amulet: Colossus Fang – AC Colossus path, TP for 3-6g
As far as I know for TA:
Leurent – drops Recipe: Nightmare Coil (Soldier, power, vit, tough)
Fyonna- drops Recipe: Tortured Root (Rabid, cond, prec, tough)
Vevina – ????
So Forward Up/Up respectively
Meh, the flowers make it easier. =)
I like to think of it that they’re sorry they snuck up behind you and assassinated you, therefore they would like to apologize by being a free rez.
I just wanted to say that :p
Because we have to put up with exploding flowers, that’s why.
I’m happy; I just got a exotic jewelry recipe from Twilight Arbor. Ring sells for ~20g a pop, get 1 per 3 daily runs. Good times.
I’ll be farming Twilight Arbor from now til forever, I know how that is Raven.
Are you being serious? This is the first I read about this[/quote]
Very. Mobs can also drop them, but that’s…well…let’s not go into how lucky you’d have to be. Basically if it can drop an exotic, it can drop a precursor in that exotic slot.
The dungeon loot update patch. You can get precursors from most large chests (Dungeon Explorable modes, Dragons, possibly World events, Temples, Jumping puzzles) now. Slim, slim chance, but it’s there.
DUngeon jewelry recipes drop from the relevant end-path dungeon boss. (the 3rd bag boss)
Just got the Nightmare Coil recipe from Twilight Arbor 10 minutes ago. Feels good.
I didn’t really like going into power for the triple mantra…except that granted, Mantra of Resolve and Mantra of Restoration are very very good with it. Just a playstyle choice. Went 0/20/15/30/5 if I recall. Phantasmal Regeneration + Illusionary Membrane got a lot better since the patch. Runes of Dwayna are also a possible synergy with this.
Mantra of Pain, Resolve, and Restoration is all I use usually, Concentration is situational. Resolve/Restoration for healing and condition removal and alternating those w/ Mantra of pain lets you perma channel while using the current Mantra’s stacks during the next Mantra’s channel…if your party really needs perma healing. I also like Mirror just cause it’s a low CD heal that proc’s Rune of Water and more reflection is fun.
Problems I see with the heal build thing:
No real burst healing, so if a boss/3 Nightmare Knights spike someone, odds are they’re downed before your heal is off. What I wouldn’t give for a 1 sec off channel time trait.
Range could stand to be better, I think it’s like 600 at the moment. The restorative mantras bugs sometimes and doesn’t heal at all as well.
Again, interrupts ruin your day…but hey! Mantra of Concentration isn’t bad for those times.
It’s not exactly the greatest build, but with the heals + sigil of Water/Runes of Water being a sort of “burst” heal for when you need it and your traited focus giving you tons upon tons of reflection, you support pretty well in my opinion. I just like the playstyle, even if mashing 1 button is my pro healz. I’m fairly tanky as well w/ Magi’s/Cleric’s + Phantasmal REgeneration/ILlusionary Membrane and all the other tools a Mesmer has to live.
Edit: I thought Sigil of Water did the same heal as the rune. It does 33% of that. Blahhh.
