DS needs 5th skill, don’t know what it should be, but 5 would not be game breaking, and if it acted like Ele attune swaps that would be enough IMO, I.E. switching attunements does not interrupt your current cast. This would break nothing given necro’s are strait out one of the slowest and weakest classes in a game ruled by bursty classes that can down you before you get 4 stacks of bleed off.
What if minion summons got cast off life force and you can have multiple of them… I think that could allow minions to be more useful as they currently are, given that they attack things, then you wouldn’t have to sacrifice EVERY utility slot in order to get a measly 4 minions up that die in 1-2 hits, and the people who hate DS have another use for the class mechanic. This would also make MM builds a lot more like they were in GW1 where minion deaths fueled your energy that you could then use for minion summons, may not even need a cooldown between summons given how slowly necro’s can build life force…
I don’t get the decision to give thieves so many combat invisis, and then to buff them, seriously get your heads out of your kitten when it comes to balance you really kittened the pooch on this one, GW1 was perfect with out invis, kittenin kitten idea lets hope after February you will have some how unkittened your selves and actually balanced your game. How is the fact that a necro literally standing in one spot spamming aoes on a point able to kill an entire team by themselves in a matter of seconds not broken?
How is the fact that if that necro is not dealt with immediately, your team will lose the team fight 100% of the time not broken?
I wonder why every team is now running at least one necro……?
Also, I would much rather steal your off global cooldown, single target instant fear over this clunky AOE fear that can be easily interrupted and lost forever.
You can have the single target weak as hell fear, it’s only mildly helpful because it’s one of probably 2 stun breaks a necro will have, and without any form of mobility stun breaks are life. Also if that necro managed to kill a whole team that bunched up on a point it’s cause your entire team was terribad spread out. If you honestly think anything a necro has is broken go play one for a bit… I have never once felt over powered or even powerful as a necro, I have out played some scrubs but that’s it. Any half competent player who’s specced properly for pvp has at best run away from me as a necro or often killed me.
Invis thiefs should never loose to a mesmer if they are both good for instance. Can’t summon illusions without a target or burning dodge roles if you’re specced for it.
I honestly hate the thing, every other map has a feature that promotes mobility and award points, where as the trebuchete simply gives one guy the ability to be in every fight in a decisive way, I find it completely not fun and I enjoy kilo maps when the trebs are never touched. This starts out at complete hatred in tournament matches and just boils to vehement hate by the time I try to play pug games.

surely to get to use the extra 10 you lose access to your heals and utility skills as that is double what most other classes get for weapon skills?
I mean at the very least while using all these extra weapon skills your UI is mostly removed right? one shouldn’t get that many weapon skills and still be able to see things like endurance and buff and conditions, amiright?

IMO necro’s are the type of mess that’s going to need an expansion before the devs ever put enough thought into it to fix. Two lowest played classes are necro and engi because both are the worst when it comes to mobility, and in a game like this mobility is blood, I don’t care how much HP or toughness you give some one the only real tankiness or surviveability in this game comes from the ability to recover damage, or the ability to avoid damage or disengage. Of witch necro is the flat out worst in the game, bar NOTHING, no class has weaker or fewer mobility options than necro, although in this argument Engi’s have to use a lot of weird tricks and be pretty quick with turning their camera’s around…

yeah. our heal skill can heal the most in the game without a single point of healing power. if you figure out how long you can wait until you pop it and gain conditions.. just laugh as the opponent balks when you heal for nearly all of your hp.[/quote]
Dude if you want to be completely content with it or see no problems, feel free to keep your head in the sand, necro’s have exactly two things on another class, they can transfer conditions, if they don’t randomly fail for some reason or another. and they have the best res skill in the game IMO. Signent of Undeath is almost worth an entire class just cause he can stand some one back up faster than they can stomp. Honestly if you had enough conditions on you for that heal to actually out heal other proffesions then you took a lot of damage 2. Holy kitten they can consume conditions? WHO CARES? woop their heal removes conditions, ele’s heal remove all conditions too, Guardians can loose 2 every 10 seconds making them virtually immune to the weak condition output a necro has, what good is a 30 second bleed if it never lasts more than 5 seconds.
Feel free to see no problems with necro’s, I will continue thanking every single necro I see for the free kill. P.S. I mained necro, I want to main necro, as soon as they don’t require crazy amounts more work, for less effect than a g’ kitten thief.
Fiery Greatsword is a niche at best. It has a cooldown, a time limit, a charge limit, and it replaces your 20 weapon skills (counting attunements) while active.

I don’t see why they built a class around in combat stealth, even freaking wow figured it out that combat stealth is annoying, broken, and not fun to deal with. Besides the fact that Anet gave thief double the mobility of the next class, and a mindlessly skill less mechanic all combine’s to a class that continues to give players an effectiveness that they don’t actually have because all they have to do is mash a few buttons and run away if anything looks at them…
Fixes’, increase the cool downs of their stealth and remove the capabilities to use stealth off initiative, the only other class to be able to stealth off a weapon skill is Mesmer, and the torch is horrible… Stealth as it is isn’t broken in this game, but when thiefs are able to access it every 2 seconds with it lasting 4… needless to say it’s annoying, especially when not every class has access to good cleaving auto attacks to be able to deal with them.
tbh both their 2 and 5 are high priorities to dodge, if they start spinning dodge…
I would like for minion skills to be insta cast and usable while stunned, I mean they already don’t attack most the time and die if a ranger pet even thinks of attacking them, heaven forbid if something actually hits them.
hey a chill and 2 stacks of bleed are useful, I mean useful in the sense that you have to use it cause all your other bleed stacking abilities are horrible, so if you use all of them you might get 18 stacks up just in time for some random condition removal to wipe your only source of damage. H.F. kids…
@Flimzy, well being as most of the bleeds you’re able to apply are from the scepter auto attack and they last like maybe 10 seconds fully traited and geared, there isn’t much good waiting out 3 stacks of bleed…cause if you stop auto attacking that’s all you’ll really have up.

if you joined hot join servers you saw less skillful players, so you saw more of the less skillful classes, thief and warrior, you see far less of them in Free tournies, and even fewer in paid tournies.
Game is gona need a dungeon finder, it’ll be god awful for how difficult the dungeons are, but I can’t even get a guild to do them after they’ve gotten their armor.
Global trading post is much better for overal gameplay, In WoW where the markets are sepperate a single person can exert extreme power over some of the smalelr markets, to the point where I could set the price on lower tier materials and move them in large quantities at inflated prices. I made a few thousand gold in the game before getting to level 20. In GW2 I can’t hardly sell anything for a few copper more than the lowest market price, and few if any mats can be bought and sold for profits that are worth the PCT cut taken, so blind flipping in the market doesn’t exist. So the mats you buy are being bought and sold at their value, instead of some arbitrary inflated price after 2 or 3 people have bought and resold them immediately.
This just needs to go to the Way GW1 handled it where the next Knock Down couldn’t effect you until the first had completely worn off and you got a chance to stand back up, at least then you have to have good timing in order to stun lock some one instead of mashing buttons.
As of right now “skilled thieves” are the ones who switch to SB early and abuse their stupid high mobility to run away for free.
Thieves as they are now have no incentive to play skillfully, they have no cooldowns and a limited energy pool, Anet has only incentive’s them to mash the most damaging button they can find on a foe, there is NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING that can be done to skills as they currently are to stop this, being as most simply apply strait damage if you nerf one damage button they’ll just mash the next best one., short of making the most damaging button they have highly situation, so they actually would have to manipulate circumstances in order to get damage, I.E, 3* damage on blinded foes, weak damage otherwise, or things to that effect a Thief will always only ever be a class that hits a gap closer, and mashes there most damaging button.
Solutions: Make their most damaging button situational, Backstab and HS are actually great examples of this, though thieves have far to much access to stealth as it is…
2: Make them use a combo system like Assassins did in GW1, with lead offhand and dual attacks, Don’t know how it would be implemented, but it would be very interesting to see.
This problem honestly goes for Rangers and Warriors as well where their most effective builds are the easiest to run, in order for this game to progress Mindless sets like that need to be DRASTICALLY less effective than sets that require more skill to play. GS one trick warriors, and SB only rangers should be completely unviable in SPvP as the weapons are currently set up, either raze the skill cap or nerf skill capped builds.
P.S. I paly Thief Quite a bit, so this is mostly a perspective from the thief side of things.
the necromancers haven’t figured out that arena net hates them? Every other class that was weak as already received a buff but as far as I can tell the only bugs arena net have fixed for the necro were the few that allowed them to be something close to viable in PvP, and the minions are still god awful, don’t know why though the mobs seem to be able to attack just fine……..
please please please consider 2-5 arenas, what ever you think is most balanced for GW, and some format much closer to AB, like 12-15 people with 5+ points so there is actual maneuver that has to take place and not just bunkering 2 points all day <3 love u long time
per player is fine, but 20 seconds is a little harsh… especially when none of the res utilities work on defeated players….
Few enemies in PvE use “Save Your Self” to get ridiculous amounts of boons, and it doesn’t do anything to the Defiant stacks. So short short of condition manipulation necro’s are probably one of the weakest single target condition damage professions in the game (ignoring Guardian and Mesmer because they just don’t have viable condition builds). And quite a few builds are pretty much on par with the necro in terms of AoE condition application, I guess the best thing necro’s have is the AoE chill on staff which is pretty good, but that’s about it, and you have to blow 3 skills between 2 weapon sets, and DS 2, and get the 3 stacks of bleeding from Geomancy to be able to get up to 19 stacks of bleed, mean while a thief just has to hit a utility and mash 3, and still has several other weapon skills that have great utility.
The 50 pct minion health one is pretty bad too, 50 pct of the minions paltry HP makes it barely noticeable, Personally minions should have the base health this trait provides and this trait should be a 30 pct reduction to damage like the engineer turret trait, if not 50 pct for PvE seeing as how minions seem to be the best taunt in the game T_T.
Well from the looks of things Anet has a complete bassackwards mentality when it comes to what makes a class viable, So it’s probably a bug, and on Thursday we’ll see it removed instead of implemented for the class. If I’m wrong I will come back to this thread to apologize for my lack of faith in the devs, but we’ll have to wait and see.
I also feel like caster weapons are complete garbage in comparison to almost every other weapon type. Just look at the Halloween weapons if you want any more indications, melee gets chainsaw swords with animations, casters get a plain looking scythe…thing doesn’t even match up with the Necro cast animation for staffs making the already dumb animation even worse…
