Does HGH trigger from elixirs that get used at a certain health percentage? Also doe it trigger off the super elixer ability on the elixir gun? Just curious.
Ok, so I just recently (Sunday morning) got my engineer to 80. I had a full set of cleric’s gear/trinkets waiting for him. As soon as I made 80 I headed straight for the bank to get all my stuff and went back into WvW to play around with what I made him for, support. I’m sure people are going to complain and tell me how wrong I am because I just made 80 a day ago. I’ve been reading multitudes of negative posts on the forums about engineers the ENTIRE time I was leveling mine up. I’m playing support and I’m just going to ease into the more offensive role as I become more well versed in the ways of the engineer.
Anyways I started out running a 10/0/30/0/30 build and it wasn’t really what I wanted. the last trait line seemed lacking for having full cleric’s gear. 30% extra crit damage is kinda dumb with a 4-5% crit chance. So I switched it up to a 30/0/30/0/10 build. Much better! 3400 attack, 3000 armor, 1450 healing, and over 9000 awesome. I usually enjoy running with a group so support is really easy. Elixir gun for 2 super elixirs, bombs that heal, and the healing turret. I even managed to kill a few pesky D/D thieves who snuck into our back line last night while taking Stone Mist.
I’m a walking Triage station. I love the hell out of it and I’m glad I didn’t listen to all the people who posted about how people should play a different class. That being said, I will now proceed to hop back on my engie, because work stopped me from doing so, and have a blast!
Pun intended.
This may sound odd but I’m curious to see how numbers change for the server matchups as the weather starts to get nicer. It was about 60 outside today and I was barely on at all, myself. Sundays usually my “Hop online and bash faces day”.
Well that’s a disappointment
Was curious how well the heal that occurs when you leave DS scales with healing. I kind of want to try something supportish. Also curious about the life transfer heals allies trait. About how much does that heal with heal gear on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
Also solo roaming.
It’s all I can think of when I’m on those walls
In all fairness though, we (BP) seem to have most of out people during the weekdays. I havn’t been on all weekend, myself. Same way NSP would always pull ahead on weekends then end up in last every week.
Well, that’s just booty, and not the awesome kind. I’ll just go with a spectral utility for another stun break. The extra life force gain couldn’t hurt either. I use the kitten out of DS and lich when its up!
Thanks for the info!
I just recnetly made 80 with my necro. He’s in full exotic berzerker gear save the back piece which is rare. I run a 30/0/10/0/30 build and really enjoy the damage. I use axe/focus and either d/d or staff depending on the situation.
I havnt memorized all the skill names or anything but the one minion utility that’s on a 20 sec CD that summons 2 little pets you can detonate is what I have a question about. The tooltip says that it’ll do around 1500 dmg when I detonate them. I have yet to see that damage crit yet though. Is it possible for the explosion to crit? My crit rate is around 50 atm and still nothing. As I use them like portable bombs they’re the only minion I use for my build.
Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Is there any chance at getting precursors, from the laurel vendor, in the class specific gear boxes?
Has a-net thought about making an app that would allow players to more easily access the forums on the go? I just think an app that would auto log me in for the forums would be great!
Just a thought!
I havnt been on at all since Thursday. Any chance of a score update for those of us at work who can’t wait to get home and smash faces?
Also people keep talking about NSP moving down a tier. As I havnt gotten the chance to play I havnt seen scores and what not. But I’ll be sadd if you guys move down. There were some great battles with NSP and I’ll miss that.
Aside from ALS you see SOS every so often. But when there’s not 20 of the same tag destroying you, you tend not to take notice of a group of folks with mixed tags. At least I don’t. Still see a handful of ALS folks here and there. They’re not all on vacation.
[TTA], as much as I would like to say,“Ooo! Ooo! BP! BP!”, I won’t. Jin up with NSP. They need more numbers. They do great things with the small tems they run now. If they had more people it would make for en even better weekly match up!
We’ve been facing eachother (servers I mean) for weeks now. If someone is willing to transfer their guild it might as well be moved into the server that will make the matches more interesting.
I wanna see a PAXA video where they use the song Friends by Atomship. ;D
ALS zergs aren’t an issue. Its WvW it happens. Using items from outside of WvW to perma-stun people is just screaming bad players. So, have fun being horrible. I’ll be the guardian laughing hysterically when you fail to take a tower that has 2 walls down, for the 3rd time in 2 days.
ALS spamming stun items on people…
Way to use skill when you fight guys. No wonder everyone thinks you’re a bunch of talentless hacks.
I agree with the OP. While I do love WvWvW it tends to get stale after facing the same 2 servers week after week. I havn’t been keeping track but I think this is week 4 or 5 of the Borlis Pass, Anvil Rock, and Northern Shiverpeaks match up.
It’s kind of cool because you get the sense of which guilds to watch for and more of an idea of what a particular guild may do as far as tactics. But new blood would be great at this point.
Not to mention that our BP vs AR vs NSP threads on the forums just degrade into people complaining about the same people week in and week out.
Horrible Idea
It would promote spawn camping to an extent you wouldn’t believe. There would be groups outside of all 3 exits of your base in the borderlands that aren’t yours just to kill everyone since it would contribute.
The only way to get past that situation would be to run in a large group of people or zerg. Not everyone runs with a big group all the time.
Skale Venom can suck if someone’s using it on you. A high crit build could mean you have weakness on you a good amount of the time. Less dodging and damage.
PAXA & Envymewl mewl mewl swats the dummy MEWL MEWL
“5 man”… “8 man”… “two different borderlands”… mewl mewl
*mewl*—insert litany of lamely-crafted lies—*mewl*
I actually feel bad now, I didn’t realize you had Down syndrome. I do apologize.
Ha! Laughed pretty hard at that.
Pride is over rated. Like clothing and inhibitions.
This thread has a lot of walls-o-text. It’s tearing us all apart! Tear down these walls!!!
I was kinda following some paxa people last night in the BP BL. Just like almost every other time I’ve seen them they were running with a small group of 5 people. I don’t know. Where people get 8 from. Ranger pets? Usually don’t see 3 rangers in the paxa 5 man…
Edit: Also, whoever you D/D ele is that I usually see with you guys makes me hate life. He obviously despises mine!

Guardians got some pretty good escape mechanics… Teleport, some leaps… Wall of “in your face you is not getting through”… All works.
The teleport skills require you to have a target. Usually you’ve exhausted them and they’re on cooldown if you’re already running away. The wall of “in your face you is not getting through” is kind of a joke. It doesn’t last very long at all and it can’t be cast on the move. Most people just walk around it or go through it anyways. :\
All I’m saying is that Guardians and Necromancers are very alike in the escape mechanism department.
My only other 80 at the moment is a guardian. I just got my necro to 23 last night. The guardian is my only 80 because I spend entirely too much time on that character. But as far as escape mechanics go the guards get the short end of that stick a well. If I’m fighting a losing battle on my guard then I’m kind of screwed. Sounds like much of the same for my necro in the future and I’m pretty ok with that :P
Honestly If we were able to buy them with karma or the WvW tokens I’d be happy. I’m in WvW a lot so it’d make killing other people doubly worth while! I kind of wish they’d do that with a lot of things. It’s no fun when you have to stop doing your favorite part of the game (WvW for me) to go do tedious, boring farming or dungeon running. WvW is all I do for the most part. There should be some kind of reward for that, apart from spending tokens on boring looking armor and weapons that look like they’ve been garbage picked.
Not mocking devs for that choice. Savage looking weapons. I get it. But when you see the armor people are wearing from running dungeons its kind of a “Wtf” moment.
Edit: Karma armor. It all looks the same. Whyyyyy?

Dear Abby,
I want to craft Mjolnir (Exotic Hammer), but it takes 350 Charged Lodestones! I farmed this week. Everyday after work for about 3 hours. I have 6 lodestones. So…
3(Hours) x 4 (Days) = 12 (Hours spent farming)
12 (Hours spent farming) ÷ 6 (Lodestones that dropped) = 2 (Hours per 1 lodestone)
350 (Lodestones needed) x 2 (Hours per 1 lodestone) = 700 (Hours of farming total)
It’s not even a legendary weapon. I also realize that I’ll make gold while farming. Somewhere around 1 (or so) gold and hour. If I figure on spending all the money I make while farming on lodestones sold on the trading post for 3g each (Lower than the average) it works out to something, still equally stupid, like 466 hours of farming. Mjolnir is cool and all but 466 hours is almost 20 days of nothing but farming lodestones (Non-stop playing) and gold. For a non-legendary weapon.
Sincerely Yours,
-Sad Panda
P.S.- I know people usually ask you for advice but I’m just venting and bored.
I have to say, people hate on PAXA for the way they fight and how they act sometimes. But I respect em its a special brand of dickery. Well played….
As far as the whole fight club thing goes, find a more out of the way place to do it if you don’t want people interrupting it. You’re in a PvP zone and you’re fair game. If I was heading up a group of people and I knew where one of these fight clubs was I would steamroll the kitten out of it. Everyone knows you shouldn’t talk about fight club anyways. That’s like the first rule or something. Edward Norton would be ashamed.
Sword+torch: Teleport in (Blind), Zealot’s Defense, VoJ while using Zealot’s for the burn and might if you’re built for it. If you need to be more mobile use Cleansing Flame instead of Zealot’s Blade. Use Zealot’s Flame before ZD/ZB finishes so that you can hurl a fire ball at the enemy for more damage. Then if need be switch to hammer to immobilize, Ring of Warding, Mighty Blow, and then Banish. At that point your weapon swap should be up again.
I use the 1h sword all the time. Quick burns good dmg and options from off hand gear. The torch especially shines with the sword, teleporting in and breathing fire on someone. Its all about finding good combos
Thanks that actually helps a lot!
I was planning on using the heal turret, elixir gun, flamethrower, and bomb kit with cleric armor and trinkets. Valkyrie gems in the trinkets and I’m still deciding on runes. I’m thinking 3 water/3 monk for the boon duration so that might with the flame thrower lasts longer. Earth and air sigils on my pistols.
I think about this stuff at work. I get really bored. :P
For the trait that allows you to heal with bombs, is it based solely on healing power or does the amount of damage the bomb would do normally determine the amount it heals for?
I’m levling my engineer (currently only 44) and I was looking at a 0/30/30/0/10 build for when I make lvl 80. Just not sure how well the bomb heals work. Any help would work out great! Thanks!
If you have Kit Refinement traited and equip the med kit it creates a small explosion. If you keep hitting 6 to equip the med kit it doesn’t take the kit off, it just keeps exploding. There’s no cooldown on it.
My first 80 was a guardian and he’s still my only 80 because I played the crap out of him. I still play him but I’ve been leveling an engineer and I’m totally in love with it! My guardian may be more of a tank and do more damage but at level 40 I’m already having no problems getting kills. It just involves more thought, which is a nice change.
I didn’t know there was an illusion.
Funny that this was started by a guy on a T2 ranked server. If you’re in a T2 server how are you having population problems. Come to BP and complain then. We’re not even the worst off. Also, you’re battling the same servers week after week because you fall into the same category, based on your rating. Once they implement paid transfers and remove the free ones I think you’ll see WvW improve. Fairweather guilds won’t be so quick to head for greener pastures. They’ll stick it out.
I havnt badmouthed anyone. Check yer facts there sport.
*If your server is outmanned in a BL go to another.
*If it’s because your server doesn’t WvW much then transfer to a server that does.
Other people shouldn’t be denied fun because of your server’s laziness/low population. That’s not their fault.
I won’t get to play until Sunday morning so I also want to congratulate AR & NSP on a well fought round this week! Well played!
@MaximeP
While there’s a sort of “sportsmanship” to WvW, a good majority of the time, it still comes down to people wanting to come in first. BAD ANALOGY TIME If you’re racing a car on your bike just for kicks would you ask the person driving to go the same speed as you to make it a better race?
WvW is as much a game of tactics as it is numbers. From what I’ve read NSP has lost a decent amount of players due to transfers.
The fact that you felt the overwhelming need to come to this topic and start drama kind of speaks for itself. This thread didn’t involve you in the least so feel free to stop talking. Have a good nothing, sir. :P
I’ll keep that in mind! Thank you!
I agree with the OP. I just started leveling my ranger not too long ago and already the pet is my major gripe. I can’t really vouch for “all the other ranger flaws” because he’s only lvl 25 at the moment. If it’s that easy to realize so early on, being new to the class, that the pets kinda suck then something should be done.
If the pet is our class mechanic why does it have to suck so bad.
Maybe make some of the pet signets actually heal the pet (passively or otherwise). “Cool my pet has stability. Now if only he could hit anyone in WvW anyways.”
I’m currently leveling a ranger and have a question…
Is my pet always going to die so easily? The time to swap pets seems a bit much too. Is there any way to reduce that so I don’t end up with 2 useless dead pets in a long fight?
The best thing that I’ve done to get around it is to have a spider and a devourer for my pets. With them being ranged they stay out of the PBAoE stuff from bosses/events. I thought rangers used to be able to revive their pets. What happened to that?
…Ok so multiple questions.
Kind of miss the way pet care/healing worked in GW1.
If warriors were given a 3 weapon set to swap to I would say remove your adrenaline mechanic and make your third weapon set your class “skill”.
Also 1h sword has a gap closer and greatsword has a gap closer. You can’t have one on every weapon.
No to mounts. There’s no reason. If you want to run faster or go somewhere more quickly use a skill that grants swiftness or click a waypoint. The game was designed for easy travel as is.
As far as support healing on dodge rolls goes, sigils of energy are very helpful. Swapping a weapon and getting half of your endurance back is huge.
