If they did decide on a new season they need to show that it’s not all about gem sales by locking transfers prior to any announcement of a new season.
+1
Locking server transfer before a new WvW Tournament would be good in my eyes to prevent bandwagons and server stacking.
I think in general Anet has to focus a little more on the people that are dedicated WvW players and not try to please the casuals that barely play WvW at all.
Where did Anet say that we are getting more fractals?
The only thing I know that is fractal related is that we are getting Fractal Masteries, but these doesn’t imply in new fractals or have I missed something?
Well, if you want mainly to do WvW, I recommend this build (which is the basic power wellomancer WvW meta build):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAW3djc0UTbLN+2wfbCchC63MAahouAqPj24ZB-TFCFABys/AAPBgCV/5KlgIp8TgLCQa6AyQzQAAEgbezAwQH6QH6QHa38m38m38mBA-w
This is a backline DPS build, so never push with the meele train (the heavy armor professions, Warrior and Guardian) into the enemy group, stay around them and use your wells/marks on big enemy groups. For maximum effectiveness, only put down your wells when the commander asks for it. I highly recommend you using your server TeamSpeak/Mumble/whatever to understand what is going on and for better coordination.
Disclaimer: this build is only good at zergs vs zerg/GvGs. Do not attempt to solo roam on this. Also at the beggining you will die a lot, this build is all about positioning and staying away from the enemy meele train. But you will learn with time.
Also you can use Strength Runes instead of Melandrus, but they are very expensive for a new player and I personally like Melandrus for a little survivability, mainly against other conditions. But everyone runs some small variations.
#edit: watch this one:

1) For what skills do what damage, just hover over the skills with you mouse and you will see a description of the skill. Or just this site to look: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQBAA
But it really depends if you want to play power necro or condition necro. In general for power builds I would recommend dagger/warhorn + axe/focus, for condition scepter/focus with staff.
2) What server are you on and what timezones do you play? Depending on what server you are on (and more importantly what Tier) and your timezone your WvW expierience may be very different.
Also Doors aren’t really ment to be attacked with your weapons, you should build rams to take it down faster. Watch closely and look if someone put down a ram to be build. That thing is what does a lot of damage against doors. Even a lvl 80 with full zerker (aka Bezerker) gear won’t do much damage to the gate.

Btw: if you want to discuss the matchups, you can do that on this site:

#edit: too slow
(edited by araskell.9018)
I played the beta as a necro. As others pointed out, all players started geared in exotic armor and weapons. All skills and traits unlocked. The gear itself was Celestian gear, even the weapons and trinkets, armor had Dolyak Runes on it. We did start in a 6/2/0/0/6 build, I think. I did have a staff and scepter/dagger equipped at the start. But I changed it to a d/wh focus build soon. We had the other weapons in the inventory. Some of the weapons had sigil of force on it, but I don’t remember the other ones. Would like to look it up, but my recording got corrupted >.>
No differences noted, apart from the subpar gear for a necro. Didn’t have any problems though, as I felt it was too easy, but somebody said they made the encounters easier for the beta.
I’m not sure if this is true for this beta or not, but I know for other short betas, they made things easier so people wouldn’t keep dying over and over, particularly while playing a new profession. Again I don’t know if that’s the case here, but it’s worth mentioning.
Didn’t know that. I hope its true, because I really felt it was too easy. Of course i don’t want it to be extremely difficult, but I would like to feel challenged.
4. Specific Events:
The one were we have to wait to blow up the rocks so Laranthir can go into the Ruins and a Charr is laying some explosives, I thought it was a little too long waiting doing almost nothing. The enemies were killed way too fast. Solutions: Either shorten the event time to about 75 – 80% of the actual event time or make it way more difficult. Maybe spawn some veterans as well on top? People were killing the mobs below with the rifles too fast as well.
The pit where you have to collect salvage: I’m not sure if that was one of the so called adventures (I would rename them to Challenges, i feel that’s more appropriate). its a nice idea, but as a necro who has limited access to stability I feel I couldn’t complete even the bronze tier. I just gonna assume people will stack stability before going into the pit so they can pick up the salvage. Maybe with the new Reaper Shroud 3 skill I could do it, but that is something to be seen. I supposed we will be able to interact with the environment in Reaper Shroud as we can in Death Shroud at the moment.
The one were there Pale Reavers were attaking a big Mordrem who was on the other side of a chasm: Is the mordrem supposed to be respawing consantly? It feelt really unrewarding to protect the allies (which was really easy) just so the mordrem respawn again for the fifth time. I think that was a part of a greater event to kill some giant Vine or something, because the mordrem was putting some kind of shield on that giant Vine, so the reavers had to kill it so other people could kill the Vine with mortars (?).
i would be cool if we, the players could pick up a rifle an help kill the mordrem putting up the shield. The event felt too passive for my personal taste. Also, I felt a little frustrated that I could go to the other side were other people were standing. I know there is a destroyed natural stone bridge, I think it would be cool to have an event to make one untill nightfall. maybe the Mordrem forces could destroy the bridge at the beginning of the night.
5. Revenant:
My impression is that especially the skill where one puts a road on the ground that grants stab is too op at the moment. Again, as a necro with very limited access to stab I was really jealous about that skill for some specific events.
6. Masteries:
I feel the time to progress in on of the tracks is ok. If it were less, people woild have all the masteries very fast and this is supposed to be the new past lvl80 progression system. if it takes too long, it becomes a grind. I feel the pace is well balanced
tl;dr: I liked what was shown, just make the events/enemies harder
Firstly, I haven’t seen a general BETA feedback thread where I can post, so I made a new one. Secondly, english is not my native language, so sorry for any errors! Thirdly: I played the second beta event from 3:30 – 5:30 PST.
1.) Bugs: I haven’t seem many, and none of those that I saw were gamebreaking, but the ones I saw were kind of immersion breaking.
Pics are here: http://imgur.com/a/fdMHY
The first is that in one of the capture points in the Shrounded Ruins area the marker on the floor was off, that is, one of the corners of the marker was on a stone hanging out of a cliff some meters above the players head. (the event was over before I could take a screenshot, so epic paint skills ftw!)
The other was that the name of an enemy was displayed as numbers
But the more serious one is that at the entrance of caves the lighting wasn’t working properly. It was just a black stripe on the entrance of the cave, same happens when I’m in the cave an look to the outside.
Edit: I totally forgot about this: is it supposed to happen that an allied NPC gets the vengance buff from mordrem? http://imgur.com/ga1CviV
2. General Impressions:
It’s was too easy. The were one or two situations were I feeled that I’m not gonna make it. I would like to see that things get harder, I do not know if later maps are harder, but if this is the general tone of the difficult of the xpac, I’m already a little disappointed… The boss fights in the story part were way too easy as well, never had any problem with them.
No rewards from events: I thought that in all new maps events will give chests, so If they are not implemented yet, this is not an issue, but if these are the final rewards (some karma and some copper), I feel its nor really worth doing these events, as they reward me something that I have no use for (karma).
The atmosphere is awesome! I really liked exploring the ruins. I didn’t like the northen part of the map as much, but that’s because I don’t really care about the Itzel/Nuoch/Hylek in general.
As far as I understood, the night was supposed to be dangerous, but I never felt threatend by anything. Again, make it more difficult. I really liked how it slowly grew darker by the time it was almost nightfall. Very atmospheric! It had some feel of urgency to complete events before night comes.
3. Enemies: Not really much to say about them. I really liked the ones where you have to attack from behind, I was constantly positioning myself to hit them
The Vengance buff is an interesting idea, but I feel it didn’t matter much in the end. They were killed as fast as the others before them. I’m also not sure what this buff does: does it give more stats (power/toughness/vit/etc..) to the enemy? If yes, maybe buff it a little (some 20 – 30% ) to make it more of a difference.

4-legged Charr and Dark Knight transformation
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: araskell.9018
Dark Knight? What do you mean with that?
Hes reffering to knight shroud. The actual name of what alot of people are calling reaper shroud.
The actual name is Reaper’s Shroud.

So excited! The Greatsword looks really nice aswell!
I was wondering how could you tell this picture shows a necromancer?
Green is the color of the necro since always? And he is holding a GS, which is confirmed to be the new weapon for necro.
I’m with spoj on this one, I’m tipping some kind of dark aura/ dark consecrations as the new spec because of the background stuff of the image.
The think that I want the most is some kind of reflect.
No, the point of taking Blood Magic is for well CD reduction and Protection to allies on cast. The siphons are an irrelevant bonus. That’s also why you go for Ritual of Life: synergy with Vampiric Rituals (more Protection and healing for your zerg).
Why Transfusion instead of Vampiric Precision? I don’t know, how about the fact that Transfusion doesn’t suck horribly and is actually good team support?
Ritual of Life: not that usefull because, how often will you revive somebody in the middle of combat? Unless you already won the fight and are rezzing the dead, but in this case you wont’t be the only one rezzing. Or doing a mass rez on somebody near combat, which doesn’t happen that often, in my expierience.
Transfusion: its a nice trait, it’s just that I personally think it’s not that viable. I mean, the base healing is not that good in my opinion. And for it to be viable as a heal, you have to take gear with Healing Power, in which you will be sacrificing too much DPS for a single skill to be kind of viable.
I get that he went into Blood Magic for the grandmaster well trait, which is really good! Its just that the rest of the trait line is so …. meh. I can see that he’s taking the more usefull traints in the line, but in my opinion going into blood magic just for the grandmaster is a bit too much of waste, because the other trait lines offer better options, imho.
Why Blood Magic? Its so useless…. Why did you take Ritual of Life and not Bloodthirst if you taking the grandmaster that siphon health on wells? An why transfusion and not Vampiric Precision? Isn’t that the purpose of taking Blood magic to Siphon Life?
I would dump Blood magic and go spite. Death magic is ok, I guess, but I would take Curses over Death Magic
As far as necros goes in WvW, they are supposed to be run full zerker for the well bombs and be killing stuff. Leave the support for the other classes (looking at eles and guards)
This is closer to the WvW meta builds with the trait changes: (thats for GvGs , guild groups and zerg busting, not for solo roaming)
http://dulfy.net/2015/05/02/gw2-specialization-calculator-that_shaman/#profession=necromancer&traits=“Spite”,2,4,8-“Curses”,2,4,9-“Soul Reaping”,1,5,8
Would be nice for a grandmaster that better suits power builds in Curses, but feel free to take whatever you like.

I couldn’t find anything on the subject, so here is my question: what happens when I delete a character? I remember something about losing achievments/titles because they are tied to the character? Or has that been changed now with so many things being account bound? So what exactly will I loose when I delete a character? (apart from soulbound items that I don’t really care about and WvW armor that I can’t salvage or throw in the mystic toilet)
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for all the replies!
The are some minor tweaks that I will make to my build, but I kind of already knew that as a necro I can’t do much to support directly my team. Just wanted to know some opinions and if there something that I didn’t know that could help.
And I’m not really discouraged, necro has been my main almost since release. #necro4life
Many thanks again!
Thanks for the responses!
That guide from dulfy is pretty amazing, thanks!
I have some questions regarding my necro:
1. I’m currently running a power well build (the WvW meta build, as that’s my prefered gamemode), which I’m doing fine in fractals http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAW3Yjc0UTbLN+0wfbidhC60MAOhoiAqDjzIZB-TFCFwAy2fAwTA4qSQkK/EcBAQp+TGNNp1BAA-w
Is this build still viable in higher fractals? I’m currently lvl 25 and have done some lvl 29 fractals. The main reason I ask is because apart from DPS I’m not supporting my team so much. I use Well of Power and Well of Darkness when apropriate, but I’m feeling that I’m not helping so much. I sometimes switch my elite to lich or golem, but I’m not sure which is better. I think it depends on the situation?
2. Are conditions viable in fractals (any level)?
Because i currently in the process of making an ascended armor set, but haven’t really decided which stats I gonna make. Probably zerker, but with the possible removal of condition cap I might do a sinister set instead and go full condi. Staff + scepter/focus (or dagger)
Or should I wait until Anet gives more info about specializations before deciding on which armor set I should make?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum section.
Also, sorry for my bad english!
