Scoring changes are way more important than QoL ones, in my opinion. But as Chaba suggested, cross map chat would be really nice.
Finally, make a reward at the end of the week for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd that gets scaled by your participation over the week so that people want to win!

There is one thing that doesn’t need to get wrapped up into the April release: Friday night resets. That doesn’t require a Live build. We’ll do it.
Just to be sure I’m not interpreting this wrong, but as I understood it, WvW reset is changed back to fridays? As of now?
Real WvW guilds in my book are simply guilds that play WvW, be that do PPT guilds, GvG guilds, fight oriented guilds, small scale roaming guilds, havoc guilds. Basically guilds that spend the majority of their time in WvW and have WvW as their primary gamemode.

Well, if this is true, I have little faith that the Overhaul will be any good, if PvE guilds that probably don’t play that much WvW are actually giving feedback. You will get maps like EotM or DL, full of PvE gimmicks that no one asked for. Please invite real WvW guilds to test the Overhaul. Would you invited PvP guilds to test raids? No. So don’t invite PvE guilds to test WvW. Get your kitten together, Anet. Black Desert is around the corner.
I also would like see a list of all the guilds that have been invited to test this Overhaul. Like they did with the raids.
Any update on the AA animation? Please fix it, thanks.
I use this build: Backline Build
Yes, its full glasscanon, but that’s your role as a DPS necro in zerg fights, you do the damage.
As for not dying a lot, your position is very important (don’t try do stay in red circles, for example). This build has almost no chance to survive if you get caught, so position yourself to avoid damage. Movement and repositioning yourself are keys for your survival. Avoid the enemy bomb/melee train and stay in the backline. Let the guardians/warriors soak up the damage so you can put down your wells to kill the enemy zerg.
Didn’t anet said that you will have to have masteries to complete the raids? Wasn’t the point of them releasing the raids later so everyone can have their masteries unlocked to have an even playing field for the raids?
You could start with Soldiers gear, maybe throw some zerker trinkets here and there. Or if you like playing condi, a mix of rabid and carrion should do the trick.
I’m running full bezerker in the jungle and haven’t had a lot of problems. Sometimes I switch to axe if ranged combat is better. The blind on the GS does wonders for me, especially against pocket raptors
1. You should have different builds for different kinds of content and not try to have “one build for all”, in my opinion.
2. You say you play mostly backline, but then I see shouts on your build, which is kinda a contradiction in my opinion. I think your build could work ok as a frontline build, as it has Soldier gear for survivability and shouts for AoE damage. As a backline build this is just terrible, imo. Its good that you have staff for chills and fears, but what else are you going to do? Shouts don’t help much if the enemy is more than 600 units away (which is often, if you stay on the backline) and apart from staff, you don’t have any ranged attacks. Staff also does terrible damage compare to our other weapons.
If you want to be in the backline, I suggest replacing the reaper traitline with Blood Magic and equip some wells. Something like this: Backline build which is similar to the standard backline zerg necro. Position and evading the enemy melee train is very important in this build. You will die a lot in the beginning, but you will learn where to be very fast.
3. For PVE (fractals specific), I’m using this: Fractal Build stay in shroud untill the boss goes below 50% HP and then spam Gravedigger. I still have no idea what to put as a second sigil on the GS. This build may not be that optimal , but in the lower tiers I’m doing ok on it. And yes, I’m using axe, because I like to have a ranged weapon if necessary and staff doesn’t do much for me in terms of damage.
But since in higher level fractals condition damage is better (thats what I’m hearing and reading on the dungeon/fractal forums), I will probably use a sinister condi necro for the highrt ones, just have to get the sinister trinkets first from LS 2
Other than that, have fun in WvW and fractals!
You can “dodge” Mordy’s rock attacks while in the air: just fly in another direction when you see him throw the rock at you.
I hadn’t any problems with the updraft, but the first time getting in the air was a bit clumsy, so say the least.
I had very few problems even with the bugs soloing that instance. Of course I didn’t succeed on my first try, but after I changed my build from glass canon reaper with half my reaper traits to a condi vamp necro, it was fine.
Was there an exploit with the merchant or why was he disabled?

Yes, 1 gold and 2 pristine fractal relic for one use, or 20g and 40 pristine for a stack of 20.
So I played the first instance in the Silverwastes, that is “Prologue: Rally to Maguuma”, and everything was fine, I defended the fort, spoke with Taimi and Canach, but then when I approached the last green star, my UI went away, and it looks like it was supposed to start a cut scene, but the game was unresponsive, I couldn’t do anything. I heard some noises, sounded like some mordrem/animal grunts. After 3 minutes I Alt+F4 out of the game.
I waited until I finished the complete download of the game, but now I can’t get in Verdant Brink, because I haven’t complete the first story instance, but I also can’t replay the prologue, so I’m stuck with that character. The story thing sends me to SW, but there isn’t any green star inside the SW.
I just tried with another character after I let the game download to 100%, and this time it worked perfectly, the cut scene started and i was teleported into Verdant Brink in the “Torn from the Sky” Mission (or something similar).
I can’t do anything on the original character that I did it. Is there a way to reset the first story instance?
I’m still waiting for a logical explanation for the reset day change. Please Anet, can you guys please shed some light in your decision? Please?
Unless maybe event trains like in EotM. Where the joy aspect is highly debatable, for me at least.
As far as I know, you won’t be able to level your masteries while in WvW, you will get WxP instead. It’s the same thing as in PvP, where you get glory instead of xp.
Moving WvW reset form friday night to saturday night is a very stupid idea. NOT happy with this change. I also would like to know why this change? Why? Nobody asked for this, I never seen someone complain about this…. The weekends are the most action packed for WvW, this just makes the whole saturday meaningless…. when a lot of people have time to play. Why Anet, why…. ?
I would wait untill we know more details about how AR is going to work in the higher levels.
The only ones really needed for WvW are mithril ore and elder wood logs for building superior siege in the mystic forge. Example: Superior Flame Ram
If you only PvP and aren’t interested in crafting, I would sell them.
I’m diggin gravedigger (pun intented) : 44k gravedigger hit. Unfortunally I haven’t been able to reproduce it.
Short feedback after 3 hours of playing: the DPS is definitely there wiith RS and the GS. You are all weaklings is good, the other shouts I’m not convinced so far, but I will be playing more this weekends with more feedback. Staff + GS seems the way to go for me, since Reaper lacks range.
I have mixed feelings about this.
And as EFWinters said, I hope that these banners will not become a thing in open field fights. They sound a little bit too strong. Especially some skills in the centaur and turtle one.

I like these suggestions, they don’t make the skills OP, but somewhat viable in some cases. +1
Do you have fast casting enabled in the options menu? Because I don’t have that. I have to click the mouse button to actually place the well on the ground. I’m pretty sure that I could cast it at my feet double tapping it, but maybe that was just a lucky coincidence >.>

I think if you double tap the button which is currently assigned to your skill if will cast it on you feet? I can’t get ingame at the moment to test it, but I recall doing that before.
Well, there is this video here: WvW Zerg Necro The build he is running is a little bit outdated since its before the big patch, but I think you will find a lot of builds here in this forum or just ask!
I exclusively played necro in WvW in guild raids/ zerg fights for about 2 and a half years and also did some GvGs, so if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them. Just bear in mind I’m practically a nobody :p
There are also some videos of necros in GvGs, maybe you also should take a look at those.
Well, Anet didn’t annouce any new dungeons or fractals at this point, but there is going to be a Fractal Mastery Track with HoT. So we will get something fractal related. If that is going to be new fractals, more levels (higher that 50), better rewards, etc… nobody knows at the moment.
I wish some traits were split between Necromancer and the Reaper. They differ too much. So instead of making 1/4 of traits useless because Reaper may use it in some combo wombo, just give each it’s own version.
Mesmer, for example, doesn’t seem to have that problem since Chronomancer is basically an upgrade.
Agreed, we keep talking about Reaper as if it is another profession but it really is just another trait line.
One thing I am not clear on is whether Reaper will force us to only have 2 lines instead of the normal 3.
It will be the reaper trait line + 2 other, so you have 3 trait lines equipped, as it is now. Reaper is, as you said, just another trait line to choose from.

Looks fine for me too. Shouldn’t have a problem playing GW2 and other games with it. You should also get a good gaming mouse, makes a lot of difference in my personal expierece.
Question: I’m using this build for dungeons/fractals at the moment: Build
The reason I have Melandru Runes is that I play often in WvW as it was/is my main gamemode, but I’m thinking of changing them. What would be better for pug groups that are more experienced (zerker only, exp, etc…): strength runes or scholar runes? I’m more inclined to scholar runes (mainly because they are a LOT cheaper), but what would be optimal?
The new WvW Borderlands will be playable by everyone, even if you don’t have HoT. As far as I understand, that includes the new siege and all map mechanics.

For dungeons/high lvl fractals this is what I’m using: Dungeon necro I switch the third utility skill around depending on the situation (Well of Power, Signet of Spite, Signet of the Locust) and the healing skill too.

As far for open world/map completion, just use whatever you like and are comfortable with. I suggest trying out different builds to learn how the necro plays and what it can do and firstly do some map completion before going into dungeons.
The server you choose is only relevant for WvW with the mega server system. if you want to transfer because of WvW, remember that some servers are full and you can’t get in, even if you delete all your characters. So for example, you won’t be able to get into NA T1 and two of the T2 NA servers, because they are full.

You can switch the Melandru runes for Runes of Strenght, which is what I probalby do soon anyway. And you can switch Death Perception with Foot in the Grave, if you want.
Stay in the backline, drop your wells when the commander aks for it. Never psuh with the melee train, you are conna get rekt really hard. Position is key to sucess in this build. It’s something you are gonna have to learn over time, as I did. My guild leader put in a good way: The melee train is like the earth and the casters (necros and eles) are like the moon going around the melee train.

From your description (roaming capability, great escape) I suppose this is about solo/small scale roaming WvW you are talking about?

It’s totally viable to run a necro in open world PvE, in fact, every class is viable.
Since you are a power necro, for world bosses I have either axe/focus or staff for ranged combat and then dagger/warhorn for general combat (trash mobs, etc…) For ranged you also can use Death Shroud and spam Life Blast (skill 1).
As for utilities, I always run Well of Suffering and Well of Corruption with the Signet of the Locust for that 25% speed buff (in open world exploring). Sometimes I switch the signet to something else, depends on the situation. For the elite, go Lich Form.
As abclemons said Into The Mists has the new trait lines. There is also Dulfys site but I don’t know if that is updated with the newest changes.
1. What do you think was the purpose of focus range change to 1200? Not that we have a main hand weapon that has the same range (apart form staff, which is two handed). I can see some use in WvW with that range (pirate ship meta).
2. Do you think that the 20% increase to siphonning skills across the board will make it somewhat viable?
3. Consume Conditions is now a corruption skill, so to compensate for the trait Master of Corruption they increased the cooldown? Also, increasing the cooldown and giving selfvuln is a nerf, wouldn’t it be better to buff the other healing skills and leaving CC as it is? Would be weakness be more apropriate instead of 10 stacks of vuln? Should it has the same treatment as the Guardian skill Shelter? (Ungategorized Skill)
4. I didn’t see any range on Vampiric Presense. What do you think will the range on it be? I think something in the range of 300 – 500 is a good value. (I know you can just speculate on it, but I want to hear opinions)

This is the stupiest thing Anet has done to necros…
… and Especially wvw. Capture two keeps in a row? Sorry your ‘omg i progress half a level’ feeling is gone. Yes at first their may (or may not be) a mastery in wvw to max, but that will be fast complete, and from then on, everything in wvw, will feel more empty then ever. Not good. But it’s same in pve.
As I understand it, when in WvW you will gain WxP instead of normal expierience when HoT drops. I do not know if upleves will still gain normal expierience or WxP.
Also, someone who mostly plays WvW allready has all the WvW masteries.

Secondly, what I understand from the interview, is that if something new is comming, it’s gonna be in form of fractals? Well, I’m kind of ok with that as I like fractals more than dungeons, but as you said, nothing is confirmed and it could take quite a while before they add something new.
