I mean, it obviously has a lot of “healing abilities” but it also has alot of condition removal, bleed and immob. application , dazes, apparently some good base dmg, high range, good mobility, an explo finisher, great traits (srsly), ways to increase party damage (glyph), a projectile blocker…

With this in mind, please consider that you will easily be able to run a druid without even having any healing power.. You don’t NEED to be a healer there’s so much more to it! You will still heal though, but not as a “HEALER” (I hope you know what I mean)

The BASE healing on your celestial form seems strong too, so you could run f.e. a berserker/soldier longbow/staff druid and cc chain your opponent + heal yourself with your f5 when low health despite using a power spec..

I’m just throwing that out there… hope maybe some of you agree.
There are a LOT of builds I can think of that would benefit from the druid spec (really)

I was already maining ranger and i’ll definitely play druid being salty is ok and it can happen but hit a pillow instead of whining pls. The druid is really awesome, let’s hope it isn’t clunky

AND there we go, complaints again, this is by far the coolest thing I’ve seen since the first beta weekend and it is EXACTLY what I wanted, yeah pet AI may still suck but srsly, apart from that I am satisfied (finally). Druid look awesome!

the hacker:

its abilities would all be aoe based and would change various settings in your opponents option menu, varying from resolution to sound etc… example: your opponent is playing on potato and with a kittenty resolution, -> your pet would have a chance at increasing their resolution, causing massive fps drops for them.

Or another example! Someone brings their laptop to a uni lecture and decides to play gw 2 (why man) using the amazing uni wifi. Obviously they would disable the sound! But then you intervene with your brand new fresh hacker pet and enable ingame sounds! suddenly, a loud warhorn fart sound resonates through the lecture hall and they are forced to shamefully walk out. During this time you will have performed a variety of interesting physical procedures on their dead body.

The f2 ability would be a projectile that bans your target for 12-36 hours (careful reflects?)! I think it would be balanced because the ability wouldn’t do damage (maybe needs a buff?).

Also instead of having pet AI, your hacker pet would be controlled by Roy himself !(long may he live). he would use his control tower to control all ranger hacker pets at once, creating a network of rangers around the world. This would also aid him in his mission to become emperor of earth and the sun (and the moon).

why stop there? I suggest we transform the entire ranger into a large rock (permanently), this would allow us to blend in with the environment. You could also add ores to your rock to lure in enemy players. And they they could add the ranger outfit instead so we could “disguise” oursleves as normal rangers. But pet rocks are a good start already. In fact, the current pet AI would fit very well for that matter.

My hopes is that we get new pet utilities as well as pets in general. I want more AI based gameplay. In fact, the elite spec should provide a “toggle button” which you could switch on to let your ranger be controlled by AI.
I hope the staff support will bring lots of regeneration, as we clearly lack regen (and swiftness). I also hope it WON’T give us access to aoes and team utility, because ranger is meant to be played as a solo roamer. Personally, I think they should restrict ranger to wvw and pve and remove their lfg tool (maybe as grandmaster trait for the brand new elite spec?)

I also think spirits need a nerf, they are WAAAYY too powerful and can one shot enemy zergs (if those zergs are actually 5 immobile rabbits stacking on the spirit for half an hour). the radius as well as the activation time on the secondary skills are MASSIVELY op in pvp. I think that their health and endurance are quite impressive. Sometimes they can survive up to 3 seconds (!) on pvp nodes!!1! their newly added lack of mobility fits the ranger gameplay perfectly! who would even dare moving around as a ranger?

I love how the pet dps is totally not calculated into our total dps. Greatsword autoattack hits like a truck! The weapon is meant as a defensive asset, which is why the auto- atk damage needs a nerf! (maybe let it crit for 420-690 on fullzerk)

Finally, sword autoattack acting like a stick of perma-glue is amazing! I love how the autoattack-chain makes me connect with the other player! I always form emotional bonds to my targets, knowing that I will most likely spend a good minute sticking to them without even wanting to! Then someone suggested I disable the autoatk…But why would I? It’s my social interaction of the day!

I hope they will reveal the druid next year, but I shouldn’t be this optimistic, it is very unhealthy

I guess that would be interesting too, theres so much that speaks for the addition of another condi weapon right now imo… We’ll see how that goes. Though it seems alot of the rev changes will involve balancing (I hope for a lack of nerfs, and a ventari buff/ minor rework) and I highly doubt we’ll get a new weapon sadly.

I will only comment on the complaint hat I hear all the time in map chat without even having read the whole thread: “Revs will follow you everywhere when you use this skill, even when you port away, this is op”

yeah except that once you get used to it you will wait for the ability to end before your port away, I mean srsly if you can’t control your thinking patterns in a “panic situation” that tell you to port away as far as possible because that’s just what you’re used to be doing when you take dmg as a thief or a mesmer, then you need to revise your strategy.

It still is op though, dont get me wrong, I think the fact that there is no “low -cd” option to get away from it or just stop the ability is annoying. I think they should make it stunbreakable even if it isnt a stun AND also focus most of the dmg on the last hit as suggested before to reward people who dodge at the right moment. Increasing the cd to 15 secs would be fair too, it would encourage weapon swapping and it would balance this ability a bit more

I think the “port-following”-ability or just being hooked to your target in general is very strong but it’s also a very nice mechanic to add to the game. This is a very nice way to counter those annoying runaway builds and it’s easy to simply NOT port when the rev uses this ability on you. Also, PLEASE dont remove the “mesmer portal highjacking”, its the only counter to mesmer port and it’s extremely fun to do.

Well I think dual wielding means that you have 2 weapons equipped (two one-handers) (thus the name), they dont have to be the same. Or at least that is what I think but I’m not 100% sure as it is.

hi,

I like the brand new taming skill that allows you to tame other players! So far I’ve managed to tame 2 revenants 3 warriors 2 mesmers 2 necros 1 guard 1 other ranger (who himself tamed his best friend) 1 thief 1 engi and 857 eles.

I also enjoyed the staff abilities, I always wanted to have a “botanical garden mini set” when I was small (and very quaggan-like), now gw 2 offers me the possibility to summon flowers and trees without even lifting a finger (except for the one I use to cast the ability). These abilities are clearly meant for war, just as the name “guild wars 2” suggests, I liked how my enemies fled at the sight of my amazing “rose petal shower” (ability 3)

I also like the way this elite spec focussed massively on the already overpowered ranger pet! to buff the pet AI even further, they completely eliminated pet movement!! how awesome is that? I played some ventari revenant and had the time of my life (at least I thought so) but then THIS!

A ranger pet that works like a ventari tablet, it’s just magnificent!!! In fact, the “pet” was now renamed to “tablet”, which is nice. I then proceeded to use the ventari revenant “pet- tablet” that I tamed earlier in wvw,
(RIP far shiverpeaks bronze- veteran, 2015-2015)
because why have one “tablet” if you can have 2? (same goes for pharmaceutical dr?gs too it seems) (not sure if this can get me banned I hope not)

I also like how they addressed the sword auto attack issue by locking you COMPLETELY into it! this way you dont even have to ATTEMPT to dodge out, there is no way to stop autoattacking anyways! Instead , you can focus on more important things such as repeatedly hitting your head with a banana peel.

Finally, I also loved the new mosquito “pet-tablet” and it’s ability to sting your opponent.
The malaria debuff you may apply on them is fantastic for pvp!

I like and dislike your suggestion

giving mace ranged dmg would be interesting and would definitely solve the “lacking ranged dmg” issue but then we would go back to a similar issue: condi rev would only have ranged condi dmg :P also it would still not add some “build diversity”

And yes, I do agree, with the amount of time we have left until release, it is very unlikely that we will get a new weapon. I dont think it is overly dramatic or anything like that, I just feel like the rev, while still being really fun to play, will have very limited customizability with the current amout of weapon choices we have. also the fact that each legend locks you into a certain set of skills doesn’t help either

but the latter isn’t bad actually, I guess it’s the way the rev works and I’m ok with that.

I just hope they will (someday) add another condi/power weapon for the rev!

hi everyone!

First of all, I wanted to say that I greatly appreciated the revenant, it’s very fun to play and it finally feels like it hits hard. However, I feel like we lack “options” when playing the class. Let me explain what I mean:

If I want to play power rev with a one-hander (bc. I want to use the shield, or maybe the axe in my offhand or for whatever reason) I will HAVE to use the sword as it is the only power oriented one-hander.

If I want to play a condi spec, I will HAVE to use the mace anyways, as it is the only condi mainhand weapon revenant has. Now as the mace doesnt really have alot of utility and is really just there for condi dmg (fire-field and explo dont count as utility). I will also only use the mace for CONDI builds, never for power builds.

but what about my secondary weapon set in condi builds? staff? sword/x? both aren’t BAD and have some utility, especially staff, but they dont apply ANY conditions whatsoever.

So, here is my idea to give REVs SOME degree of freedom as well as to satisfy the need for another condi weapon; I would suggest adding a mainhand RANGED condi/power hybrid weapon with SOME utility (to make it viable over f.e hammer as a ranged power weap.)

EXAMPLE: scepter

autoattack 1: throw a bolt of mist essence at your enemy, applying the “curse of the mists” effect on them (doesnt do anything atm, continue to read to understand)
autoattack 2: throw another bolt of mist at your opponent, applying 1 sec of chill to them
autoattack 3: release a beam of mist energy at your opponent, dealing high dmg and triggering the “curse of the mists”, applying a condition on your opponent based on the legend you are in atm (effects tba.)

skill 2: “ghastly winds”
release a small tornado of poisoned air at your opponent that will apply poison and chill

skill 3: “blazing stalagmites”
this would be a gound targeted spell that would “summon” spikes (that would look like stalagmites) at the targeted area, burning opponents, knocking them back and applying a few stacks of torment

all those skill (especially the auto -atk) would have acceptable base dmg, skill 3 would also do massive power dmg , but would have a 15 sec. cd, encouraging you to weapon swap

the poison would make me reconsider taking the venom enhancement trait. the chill applied would work both for condi and power builds, same goes for the knockback. the fact that it is a RANGED main-hand weapon would allow for MUCH greater build diversity. Also it would be perfectly suitable for the rev theme, having no bleeds and cripple and having “misty” effects

I know it may be strange introducing a weapon without a legend, but I think rev really needs this!
