I feel like something like this has been done before…and brought back once already…oh right – QUEEN’S GAUNTLET.
I would rather they make dungeons scale from 1-5 players (along with slightly reduced rewards the fewer the players. depending on difficulty) than to have a 1v1 arena.
It is a good change BUT… 5 events? Next tournament event achievements should be upped to 20-25 / week and a few others should be added in, like take 5 keeps, use 50 supply, etc. Not a TON, just a few more that would be easy enough for a casual non-WvW player to acquire in a 1-2 hours spent per tournament week. I also like that EOTM counts towards the achievements…
120 ecto’s for 6 pieces? what else in the crafting process takes ecto’s? The insignia take 5 each (so 30 ecto)… why are another 90 required? Unless you made 4 sets of gear…
the chest, legs, and helm take 20 ectos each, gloves, boots, and pauldrons 10 each. Like I said, I don’t feel particularly smart for doing this. It IS a HUGE waste of resources. Now that I’ve done it, and it looks like a couple others have, watch a-net go … woops we messed up. I just hope when they do I get a bunch of ectos showing up in my mailbag :-)
ouch…yeah I just experimented with a level 18 staff recipe :
1 ecto for the inscription and TEN ecto to actually make the staff! WHAT?!?!? I get that it is selectable stats and account bound…but really?
It should of been ONE set of weapons and armor that SCALED as you level from 18-79 – then maybe it would of been worth it. The current cost to craft is laughable, making it pretty much worthless to even think about.
I just made a set of level 68 light armor for an alt with these. It took a lot of ectos. About 120 of them. That’s like 50 gold if you buy them from the trader. Then you have to use Gossamer items, and 30 piles of crystaline dust. I had the mats and wasn’t doing anything else with them, but I think that one set of armor would have set me back at least 65 gold total.
I did it. Doesn’t mean I feel particularly smart about it. I just did it to see, and now you know what the costs are. My opinion is that these are a lot of gold for not a lot of use. From 68 you can be to 80 in a short time using boosts and crafting discovery, and buy a whole set of Exotics from the trader for a lot less.
I don’t see a whole lot of people making these, unless they plan on rolling a whole bunch of characters that use the same armor type.

There are no recipes to ascend it. The upgrade slot has to be a jewel, specifically a mithril jewel level 65. I assume the reason for this is the main stats you choose after creating the backpiece are actually higher than compared to say the exotic Soldier’s Spineguard at level 80. I added the Embellished Brillant Beryl Jewel (Level 65) to the new backpiece without an issue.
Bummer – now we know why the backs are 78 instead of 80…that kind of sucks, oh well. Still ok for alts…
Someone, I think it was a comment on the dulfy post, said that the elegant level 400 versions said “crafting item” in the hover over description when you view them in either th wardrobe or in the crafting window (I dont remember which). maybe there is a mystic forge recipe for it to go ascended? anyone looked to see if the forge would even accept it?
forge does NOT except the 78 backs…nor does it show up as a discovery component.
How many characters did you have with commander tags under the old system? If you had 3 or less, there is no refund. For every commander tag you purchased over 3, you should have automatically received a 100g refund for each (I’m not sure about the WvW tokens.)

Should of stayed that way – it was ridiculous then (hence a joke) and should of never returned – glad it is gone. There are plenty of other platform games out there – go play one. I’m sure it will be back because of collections…just hope they don’t waste time adding to it (again.)

OH that’s right, 3… the ascended sets that imo look horrible and cost 400+g to make. How many armor sets ( and a bunch of great looking one’s at that) have been added to the gem store? I’ve lost count. Your right, even though MANY weapon sets have been locked behind boxes, a few great looking weapons were added with the champ loot boxes – on the weapon front I can’t complain…armor is a whole other story.

How is that remotely relevant? After 5+ years of development you would expect there to be more than a few armor sets at launch, no? Nice try at defending the gross imbalance of new armors available in game vs for $$$ in the gem store in a game that prides itself on horizontal progression as end game, chief among them making your character looking “unique.” I guess your next argument will be that you can buy gems with gold?

This specific feature doesn’t sound like an update, more like a downdate. Other things with the Trading Post update are actually updates
That is why calculators exist – to aid those who can’t handle numbers…having said that, there really is no reason to not display a bottom line.
‘Delivery Box’ available anywhere means anywhere in the Trading UI. Not Anywhere in the world (unless you’re using a Trading Post Express summon). If you are at a Black Lion Trader NPC you can now pick up purchases without leaving the filtered buy screen. You can pick up items/funds you cancel without leaving the transactions screen. That sort of thing. You can see an order complete and know what item was delivered while you’re still browsing other categories.
‘Get More Gold’ button simply connects to the existing Currency Exchange. It’s not a new feature, just a more connected UI.
250 is still the max stack size used for a single sale/purchase.
‘Get More Gold’ is 100x better than saying ‘Get More Gems’ – people should not be complaining…I’ve hated from day one the fact that gems—>gold “feature” existed but it is what it is.

its not about the cashshop is bad its is about EVERYTHING they release is only cashshop
Yeah.. except the fact that it isn’t.
We got multiple new skins released in-game. Champion box weapons and Ascended sets for one.
We also have gotten loads of new stuff overall that have nothing at all to do with the cash shop, such as new maps, new events, new dungeon, new systems and so on.
champion box weapons 1 year ago, ascended armor (UGLY!) 9 months ago, fossil weapons a few months ago….that’s it – now how many armor sets and RNG chest weapon sets have been added to the store? about 5x as many. This is the issue…it should be 75% IN GAME, 25% in store – yet is is the opposite. I should also mention that 95% of all good looking medium armor for females is from the store unless you are a norn or human…then it’s 80%. I think what upsets me the most is the only armor sets that have been added in game in TWO YEARS have been the hideous ascended sets… oh, unless you tPvP in the official tourney’s which many people don’t.
I think for 2 years of playing, they should give you an item that launches a precursor crafting scavenger hunt.
agreed – it wouldn’t kill them to even give you an account bound precursor of your choice, either. They could make it an account bound ticket to exchange and whatever you pick becomes instantly soulbound. Of course the precursor market wouldn’t appreciate it…
Pretty obvious they are targeting GW2 of all the NcSoft games – it seems to be hitting consistently after one of the “major” world events has started to cause the most pain.
It’s not just GW2. This past week (at least according to their twitter) they have attacked and temporarely taken down WoW (some servers), LoL NA, Eve Online (partially), Runescape, Brazzers and even the FBI website.
Oh I know it’s not just GW2, I’m just saying that when they choose to hit NcSoft, it is during GW2 major events – there is no way it’s coincidental.

Give Anet a break guys – it’s pretty obvious they are hurting for sales right now…I mean they took three existing armor sets and added some fire effects to them so they could sell them for real $$$, obvious much? I thought this new marketing campaign was interesting until I saw these armors and realized that it might not of been tongue and cheek but instead dead serious, which makes it seem desperate.
