Do you think there should be a GuildWars 2 community poll?

No. We’ve had almost ten years of apologetic devs trying to bring people what they want and failing because people have NO IDEA what they want.

I want the devs to come out and say we have our vision and we’re sticking to it. I wanna play the game they envisioned, and not the one the masses think they want. The devs are the experts here. Let ’em work.

ok, I can agree with you here. To be honest I really don’t have any suggestions other than the camera issue but I mainly created this post because I read other peoples topics on this board.

Ever seen Snakes on a Plane?

Just because the community want it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

How so? not trying to be smart about your comment but explain how it couldnt be a good idea? is it about the players or is it about the designers vision of the game and only their vision?

So its pretty obvious that people are asking for certain things in the game and of course people will disagree with others opinions and argue for days so wouldn’t the easiest way to determine what should be added to the game be for the Devs to just take certain requests or present a couple ideas of theirs from time to time and put it in a GW2 community poll? And of course only people with the game can vote.

What does "END GAME" mean to you?

To me end game is something that you can do or participate in because you earned your way to it. It’s usually in the form of a raid or pvp and of the highest challenge. I think it depends on the game though. I dont see pvp as end game in GW2 because its more like beginning game. You can pvp right after a fresh installation. I usually associate it with dungeons after getting to max level. I don’t see it any other way, most people have only been exposed to that one way of end game for nearly a decade. Maybe for this game we can build houses and stuff for end game? That would be cool! Any fresh ideas?

Camera Smoothing

@ Jon Peters or any of the devs

Is this something that you guys are currently working on or it is a future plan at the moment? Just wanted to let you guys know that your game is great and I can’t speak for anybody else but I read other posts about all the other issues about the game but personally I’m not bothered by any of it because I know you’ll fix those other issues. The camera smoothing is the only thing that bothers me and I hope that an option could be available soon to disable it or minimize it in some way. Do you think that you can keep us updated on whats going on and let us know what your plans are such as if you will add an option to disable it or a slider? Or maybe let us test it out like a beta or something?

@Baxuz

Dude thanks so much for sharing your link! What you explained is exactly what I was trying to describe about the camera that I just couldn’t explain right in my post. The videos that are linked on your post when the character is being turned is what I was trying to say. There needs to be a fix for this, or an option or something. I would say this should be on the high priority list of fixes as it can be a total game breaker for many people.

HEY GUYS! can you take a look at my post! I wanna know if the camera smoothing is the problem Ive been having? I tried to explain something about the controls in a thread I posted. I don’t know if we are talking about the same thing though. I feel like there is some kinda delay when Im turning my character. Its like the character turns first and then the rest follows. I hate to bring up Wow but I want to have my controls feel the same way. When you control your character in wow it feels very sharp and responsive. Please let me know if we are talking about the same thing here in my post below.

Ok after reading through some of the threads I think i know what it is now about the controls. I think it might be a camera issue.. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that it feels like the movement of a console game that requires you to use the two joysticks on a gamepad. Theres some kinda delay that just doesn’t feel right to me.

I think what you’re describe is the ramp up speed. It’s added in games to add fluidity so characters don’t look and act like robots.

I guess I like the robot feel, it feels better to control imo. That is honestly the only thing that bothers me in this game.

You think maybe they did that on purpose? Trying to make it realistic by having the character push themselves forward, the same any person would do before a jog/run, that little second for the push.
I actually seen a thread where a few people liked that the included that.

They may have their reasons for this but I’m hoping that we can have an option to make it not so realistic? An option so that we can turn it on or off. I like to be able to run or kite then spin around fast and take a shot etc.. It could still be done but it doesn’t feel right at times.

Ya it makes a big difference. This was the first thing that I noticed my first time in the beta. I remember I kept asking people if the delay was because we were in a stress test and it was just lag but when the game was released it was still the same. I don’t know if you still have a Wow account but if you dont, just log into a trial and move your character from side to side you can really tell the difference. They move at full speed right at the press of a button. Also when your turning your character in Wow it feels like the screen is “hooked or attached” on your character which feels fast and responsive. Its hard to explain you just have to compare the two and youll see what I’m talking about.

I don’t really know how to explain this but when I control my character it feels heavy at take off point. There seems to be a slight delay before running or moving almost like my character needs to build momentum first. It makes everything feel a little sluggish.

The game is still enjoyable but ill be honest a few days ago I logged on Wow just to try it out and I ended up logging off a couple minutes after. I don’t think I can play that game anymore but one thing I noticed was how great the controls felt. It felt fast and responsive like I had full control over my character. I can pretty much do a 360 at ease if I wanted to.

Gw2 seems to involve lots of kiting, dodging and getting your character back in place so I think that the character movement is very important. I personally enjoy guild wars 2 much more than Wow but one thing that stands out is that Wows first impression gives you a sense that the game feels fun simply because of how you can control your character. Any chance we can have an option that lets you control your character this way?
