First off none of us know how this will turn out but I for one am very excited about the Ascended gear and Im excited for the new dungeon. I barely log into the game anymore because there is nothing for me to do thats interesting anymore. What are people afraid of? because they have to get new gear? what a joke, its just gear whats the problem with that? This is an MMO, makes me wonder what people are actually doing in the game because I could barely even log in anymore because I need a goal to keep playing. Now don’t get me wrong I might not like this but I’m willing to try anything new thats added and to me getting gear is not a big deal. Im used to it already and I’m sure that majority of MMO players are used to it. Its a natural thing in MMO’s. Anet, good move on this one, I just hope the new gear looks nice:)
Im totally excited.. I have no idea how people play this game but I seriously have nothing to do. I need to keep progress in order to have fun, this sounds like it might be what I’m looking for. I don’t know why people are against progression. Anet I don’t know how this will turn out but this is a brave move and I respect that. Believe it or not, most MMO players need to keep progressing otherwise they quit.
Wooohooo, finally theres something to look forward to.. I don’t mind a gear grind at all, Ill only be disappointed if I have to grind for gear that doesn’t look good. ITS GOTTA LOOK GOOD! I don’t know how this is gonna turn out but Id like to say Thank you to Anet for doing something like this. I’m so close to quitting the game because to be honest I need a goal and this might be it. Maybe I can finally say what people say to me now, "we love our game:)
The Charr were the most interesting of races, so I chose them. Didnt feel floaty. The camera is horrible near walls for jumping puzzles.
The biggest problem with the combat is the lack of instant attack spells. It makes things feel delayed. That 3/4 second to cast isq a real downer.
Totally agree with you on this.. I don’t like how alot of the abilities have this loading time to it. I think the game would be more fun if they removed all of the loading time on those abilities that have it. One example is the warriors number 5 ability with a rifle which is suppose to be a knockback move, I cant understand why something like that needs to load up? Fast instant moves make a game more fun in my opinion.. when you press the button the ability should deliver on the spot. Although Im used to the way things are I do recognize that it doesn’t feel as good as it should.
@OP.. All your points are valid, not sure if your new but at launch there was an even more floaty feeling which they improved on with the camera. You are right about the characters looking small and thin. I was ready to pay money for a race change " and im still willing to" because of that. I wanted to change my human to a norn so I can look a little more thicker but it doesn’t seem like that option is in the works atm or probably never will be. I think what makes my character feel even smaller is that when Im running he is kinda hunched forward instead of being straight. As far as the spells are concerned, I was orginally interested in the necro but I just couldnt get into it, the spells look a little plain, like a black shadow that comes out or sometimes I don’t really even notice the spells at all with a necro so I just gave up on that profession and deleted the character. The characters feel kinda slow maybe they can make the animation look like they are taking more steps to fix that not sure.. I do notice that Asura’s feel quite different to control then all the other races though, different in a good way. It feels like Asura’s are more responsive and it seems like they move faster.

That would not make the game better in anyway.. if you take out the levels where is the sense of progression? even though you unlock your main offensive abilities without really needing to level you just have to keep it there just to have some kind of goal to go for. Why would you want the dungeons eliminated? Its probably the best part of the game, the de’s are nice but it really is a zerg fest. I have my suggestions that sometimes come off as sounding like complaints but aside from that the good things about the game outweigh any of the things I dont like by far. Nothing really needs to be taken out of the game, what it needs is more things added and some of the existing things tweaked a little.
@delryn,
The funny thing is I actually took time creating and deleting characters a lot to get that perfect look. I chose a human because I thought they looked better than norns but when I got to 80 somehow my opinion changed when comparing the two in some of the nicer heavy armor. Norns just really stand out with heavy armor at max level, I guess because there bigger. Oh well though Ill live.
So I would have to level the same profession over again to 80:(
The title says it all, just wondering if there are any plans to allow us to change race anytime soon. I don’t mind paying for it, just hoping or wondering if it is in the works or if there are even any plans for this feature? I know this is a long shot but it would be cool if something like that could be available on the Nov 15 patch? Funds are ready to go, just waiting for it:)
Hopefully.. Any improvements they make to the camera is a plus.
1. Gear, I pretty much had the same looking armor until I got to level 70ish, theres not much variety in looks until 80 when you start using tokens.
2. Dungeon rewards, I was doing dungeons just above minimum level but never really got anything rewarding. I got tokens but I had to wait till I got to 80 to put them to use. I think if a dungeon says a certain level then you should be able to get a rewarding armor set for that level.
3. Dungeon bosses seem to lack character and mechanics.. maybe this is already being worked on, not sure.. it would be nice if the bosses spoke a little more with a cut scene or something before you start fighting them. I can’t really even remember any of the bosses names. Wish they were more like the mad king now thats something I wont forget.
4. LFG for dungeons needs a better system.. Hopefully we could get atleast an LFG channel.
5. Not enough variety in monsters.. the zones are nice but the enemies you fight arent very interesting. I think part of it is because everything you fight is about the same size as the character your controlling. It would be nice if we can chop down much bigger enemies that are cool looking. The only big things I can really remember are those walking tree looking guys, other than that I can only remember centaurs and harpies.
6. Mounts.. to me its a standard thing that majority of mmo players like. Id like to re visit alot of the zones again but there is no way I wanna do it running on foot. I am not in favor of flying mounts in GW2 only ground mounts.
7. Dueling, I hope they add this because I really want to duel sometimes when im just standing in front of AC or something, theres so much room right there to duel people.
8. No end game raids… game is still new so I’m pretty sure will get some better end game stuff soon.
9. race change or character customization in the game store.. I wanna change my human to a norn now.. will gladly pay if we had the option.
10. controls and camera. this has improved alot since the release. I absolutely hated the float with the smoothing before. They made a little fix to it and its much better but I wish I can disable it completely. Fov is better now but I think it can probably be better. Maybe in time everything will be straightened out. Good work so far though.
11. Abilities don’t feel right sometimes. Some abilities have a loading time to it which doesn’t feel good. Some examples is with a warrior, the number 5 ability with the rifle is a knock back move were you swing your rifle up close. Moves like that would feel better if it was instant instead of having a load time. Same thing with an Elementalist when your casting auto fireballs with a staff, it feels slugish before the fireball is released, it should come out fast not slow.
@Safer Saviour
I respect your opinions I’m only getting on that one dude because he comes off as telling people to get lost like he owns the game etc. Im only giving my opinion which I feel strongly about but I think the only way anybody would know is with a beta test. I can live without it being in the game but because I want the game to last a long time and not be one of those could have been games, I feel that you cant bring in much more new people if you you don’t cater to the ones outside of guildwars 2. Old players will eventually leave, the way you keep the game alive is by recycling players, old ones leave new ones come in. Just my opinion..
Your the perfect example of what kills the game, you can’t think outside of the box of how they can be placed in the game, and telling people we don’t want you here anyways sounds pretty immature especially saying that to people who are contributing ideas while you contribute nothing but negativity on players.
Mounts would kill the game. You’ve already got free travel to any city in the game and to travel from the two farthest points on the map costs less than 3 silver. That very small gold sink does it’s job to keep inflation from being worse than it could be. If you want special looking items for vanity purposes, get a legendary weapon, some cool armor, dyes, and well… Miniatures. If you want big miniatures, ask yourself why that seems wierd. If you still want mounts, you really should go someplace else. Much like the Druid class suggestion, if you want WoW content, go there, because we really like our game, and would rather see A-net do good.
Who says that anybody wants a mount for vanity purposes? I do like the waypoints but I also want mounts in the game. If you wanted Anet to do good then you would understand that people want this. Nobody told you not to use the waypoints anymore and nobody asked for them to be removed. You actually dont want Anet to do well thats not your goal. Your goal is to be as anti wow as possible. " We really like our game" that sounds kinda weird man….
Is it not enough to dislike mounts because they’re a lorebreaking, unnecessary waste of resources? No? It has to be ‘because WoW has them’.
Quite frankly, I hate them. I don’t want the landscape cluttered, the lore cannibalised or Anets resources drained on this. It’s not worth it and it never will be.
Nothing would be cluttered, are you saying there is not enough room on the map for mounts? They just need to disable them in the cities.
You talk about Anets resources being drained? are you saying that they are small time? It is very worth it and it is a smart move in my opinion. Many people aren’t on this forum to back this up. Don’t be surprised how many people wanted them when the player base starts to drop.
Cities, towns, villages, open workd ruins, graveyards, housing estates and, of course, jumping puzzles. There’s no place for mounts. No need either. Waypoints are part of the lore, personal mounts /aren’t/.
As many people as there are who want mounts, there are just as many who don’t. Furthermore, of the faction that does, there are further divisions as to what their benefits should be (aesthetic, speedboosts, mounted combat). No matter how they impliment them, there’s no way to please the majority.
I think that’s a little bit harsh. Lorewise we’ve had necrid horsemen in GW1, and Stone Summit riding Dolyaks. Mounts have always been in Guild Wars, but only for enemies.
The horses are exctinct and the dolyak were only ever warbeasts, not a means of transportation.
Now don’t get me wrong I really like the waypoints alot and I’m not against them in anyway and I would totally be turned off if it were to ever be removed from the game. I just think that with this game being guildwars 2 they can expand the lore and somehow get them introduced in the world. I don’t think it would be hard to create a story that links to it. I think that if they have any plans on making this game bigger they are going to have to add more to the lore anyways. If they don’t introduce mounts I feel that the game will just feel small in comparison to other MMOs. They got alot right in this game and there is so much potential for so much more to be added. I think that people know that Anet got much of the game right and it is solid in its current state the problem is that it seems like there are just some things that feel like the game is missing something.
Mounts are a very bad idea. There’s no history of them in the lore. No place for them in the game. No logical reason to have them.
If you’re asking for them, you can always go play WoW to have your mounts. We don’t want you here anyway.
Your the perfect example of what kills the game, you can’t think outside of the box of how they can be placed in the game, and telling people we don’t want you here anyways sounds pretty immature especially saying that to people who are contributing ideas while you contribute nothing but negativity on players.

All you people saying NO to mounts are the downfall of the future of GW2. The only reason why you don’t want mounts is because Wow has them and you do or say anything to try and be different even if it means giving up something that is pretty much a standard in MMOs now. When people are asking for mounts they are actually suggesting things that create a better experience to the game. Anyone saying “they are not needed” is just holding the game back because that statement brings no contribution to expanding the game in anyway. People talk about this game having an epic feeling without mounts? There is nothing epic if you don’t have mounts. Nobody ever asked to remove waypoints so whats the problem? You dont want a mount then dont ride one.. Its better to add things rather then lose players.
For those saying "if you want mounts go play Wow are killing the game. You do realize that a high population of GW2’s player base is from Wow don’t you? You push that high percentage out of the game then the more your going to have trouble finding groups and the game just eventually becomes completely dead.
I really hope they add mounts, personally. I love mounts in games. I love to ride whatever it is, walking, through large maps. I’m a role player and as far as I’m concerned I think it is absolutely silly that no one has a mount.
And thankfully we forum-users are only a small population of the players because I guarantee if they polled the player base as a whole, the majority would want them.
Not only majority would want them but the ones that didnt buy the game will probably buy the game if they decided to add mounts.
Im willing to bet that if there were two separate servers " one with waypoints only" and the other with " waypoints + mounts" the waypoints + mounts would be far more alive then the server without it.
I like waypoints but I think mounts would help the game in more ways then people realize. I’m not in favor of removing waypoints but I do think that mounts should still be added along with it. I guess I believe in catering to a wider audience without giving up any of the games flavor. Nobody can really give real reasons why they shouldn’t be added other than its not needed? Or we dont wanna be like wow, this is unique? These really arent good reasons as to why they shouldn’t be added. I think that a successful game takes the best aspects of things while still adding their own flavor. I can still play the game even if mounts aren’t added but I think ill always feel like not adding mounts is a bad decision because the only people that the game is catering to is the ones that are already in it and who knows how long these players will be around.
I vote YES to this too..Ive already made a whole post on this topic before and thought id support this one as well. I have quite a bit of reasons for backing this up but the main one is because the zones are empty because there are no mounts. Lets put it this way.. If you had to choose what would more likely cause a zone to be empty which one would it be? 1. ground mount, 2. flying mount or 3. way points. Its pretty obvious which one it would be. As of now I’m only farming tokens from COF, I only travel from Divinity’s reach and COF so if your a player thats in between those zones, guess what?….your never gonna see me because ill never be passing through your area. I just port to the other side of where your at.
A real life friend and guildmate of mine just quit recently because he just couldn’t understand how there couldn’t be mounts in the game. And no he didn’t go back to wow he actually liked guildwars 2 better but the whole no mount thing was a game breaker for him. Hope they reconsider the whole mount thing.
Just wanted to say that this Mad King event today is great and Ill always remember this down the road when people talk about how vanilla gw2 was etc. Even though you just fight one big guy it is very entertaining. I think that the dungeons in this game should have bosses that are memorable like the mad king. I run dungeons everyday and I still don’t know any of the bosses names. Anyways fighting him is fun, wish there were bosses like that in ac and some of the other dungeons, something were its memorable and gives an entertaining experience. Not that im saying the dungeons arent entertaining at all but this mad king event shows that the dungeons bosses could be just as entertaining like mad king if fixed up a little. " Maybe a little dungeon rework?
Since there’s no monthly subscription fee, I tend to compare GW2 with other $60 single player games.
Thank you. I keep trying to tell people that they’re playing this game with the wrong mindset. I dunno, I think they just want a new treadmill to run on, rather than an actual video game to play.
Btw, that’s what your motivation should be, OP. To play a video game and have fun doing it. If you are having fun, fantastic. Who cares if you level? Your level 80 buddy can come play with you. It’s more fun than Orr anyway. GW2’s designed in such a way that you never really need to pay attention to your level; if you play the game (I said it again!), the levels come to you.
(btw, those of you looking for the treadmill, I highly suggest Rift. It’s virtually the same as that other treadmill, but with better graphics and the best class customization I’ve ever seen.)
I know this wasn’t meant for me but I highly disagree that you don’t need to pay attention to your level because you actually do have to pay alot of attention to your level as of now. Most people will not run a explorer dungeon with you if your not above the minimum level requirement. Most people prefer level 80s when running exp dungeons so if your at the min level requirement then your not always going to have an easy time finding a group.
Btw I was always under the impression that guildwars 2 wanted to be competitive in the MMO genre and expand this Game. Ive read articles on them saying how they are excited about the future of Guildwars 2 etc and that they want to give the players what they want etc.. People on here make it sound like this is just a video game that you play and then forget about it . Is Anet trying to make this game big or is this no different then a diablo series.. I actually want to hear it from them because if this isn’t a game that is trying to expand then I got my info wrong and it would be time for me to move on.
I think you don’t have the motivation to level because you don’t see anybody in the zones anymore, at least that’s how I was feeling. I still managed to get to 80 but it was a pretty lonely experience, beautiful zones but nobody in it. On pre launch day the game felt so different seeing so many people in the zones, it made it feel live and you just wanted to follow everyone and didn’t even think about if leveling took long or not.
I made a post about a week or two ago to just add mounts already because I feel that the waypoints is whats causing the zones to be empty. People just teleport anywhere they want so you hardly see anyone anymore.
from my experience even on multiple servers is like this.. if you want to see people and how they level in this game the pattern is…
1 Do all the starter zones
2. When your about level 17 and notice that there’s nobody around and want to see people then go to kessex hills and that’s were everyone is grinding it out on chain de’s until level 30.
3. At level 30 do couple ac’s and craft in cooking, once you get to about 35 or 37 and want to see people again then grind it out with everyone else in harathi hinterlands. Most people are doing the chain de’s there youll see it in chat when people will say " Kol is up! " you can take it all the way to level 50 if you want.
4. after 50 the zones are just dead and for me it was a lonely experience so I spent most of my time in ac or just even hanging out in front of ac. It doesn’t pick up again till around level 70ish in orr is when youll see a bunch of people again.
This has been my experience…
I like the thought of playing a bad guy the only thing is that I would want a different look other than whats currently offered. It would be cool if they added an opposite faction or different races to the game. If they were to choose to use the same races then the dialog should atleast be changed to a more darker tone. Im all for this though, id rather be on the dragon side then a hero.
First off, let me say i’m not against the idea, but in turn see no real business reason to put the time, money, and effort into adding mounts to a game that in no way supports that system at the design level. I can’t possibly imagine people left the game or refuse to buy the game based solely on the fact that mounts aren’t present.
There are actually a very large amounts of achievements already in the game, sure adding mounts would add an extra option, but again, at what cost.
Finally, an example for the mounts not helping fill a zone. I’d pull out a mount to cross a zone, but since i’m already in that zone doing stuff anyway, it’s not going to pull me in to doing a DE i happen to stumble across while i’m traveling to my destination. Granted your mileage may very, but given that i’ve seen how people use mounts in other games, i’d say it’s more likely the norm than the exception. One big reason i hated WoW was travel time, i certainly don’t want to spend 20 minutes getting somewhere. Of course that would never be an issue with GW2, do to fast travel, but i would take the long distance fast travel over riding a mount at even 100% faster.
Again.. This doesn’t take away from the players that are fine with the way things are " That includes you" your one of them which is why I believe this idea is good because it will have no affect on players like yourself. Now if you don’t think this would work then lets leave it a ghost town then for now. Im sure Anet will come up with something, I was just giving my suggestion, doesnt mean it will work but the fact is… Some zones are really empty and what better way to try and fill it up were you can do something and possibly make more money at the same time without ruining anything for players like yourself that dont want to ride around.
(edited by camoflaugz.5031)
Even at a 33% speed boost, i just don’t see people riding mounts to get across more than one map. I can’t see them going much higher with speed and in many other games that do have mounts people typically use them to get passed a bunch of stuff that’s going on quickly, really no reason to stop and do a DE if they are trying to meet a buddy at a dungeon entrance or get to their current farming route.
If zones are too vacant, it’s more about the game design than it is about traveling in and of itself. It simply just doesn’t fix the things you’ve mentioned, given my experience using mounts in games that have them. Most MMO’s are plagued with vacant lower level areas. There needs to be a better reason for higher level folks to go there than adding mounts. The only thing that draws people into lower level areas now is farming crafting mats or doing jumping puzzles they missed.
There needs to be things added of course at the same time that mounts would come out. Now if you look at my key points I don’t see how it would ruin the game at its current state. All I can do is make a suggestion as I am a business minded person:). Its basically something that I can see which I would pull the trigger on. It does good for sales and good for the players that want it without taking anything away from the players who are fine with the way things are.
1. This would help fill empty zones because nobody is going to do a mount achievment and just stay in one spot. They will ride around and you should see zones that are ghost towns with people riding increasing the chances of helping with DE’s in these zones.
2. The sense of achievment for players that want this.
3. Business move, this will probably bring back players that have left because they want to see what its all about. This will also encourage sales because I’m sure many people know its a good game but the fact that there was no mounts put them off. Now if you can bring back the people that left and bring in a ton of new players than this would also increase the zone population and would also put more money in the devs pocket and in return we get more and more content and all it would take is to add one thing to the game. More people means more people buying at the gem store and this also gives more to the players.
If you want to get even more deep if mounts came out I would add mount skins that people can buy with gems which lets you customize the appearance of your mount. Maybe adding accessories and armor to it. I don’t think there is a game that lets you customize your mount " I could be wrong". But I’m willing to bet people would be buying gems for that. Ok I’m pretty much done with my suggestion. Its up to the devs and how they see things.
(edited by camoflaugz.5031)
I really dont see why you’re comlaining. Every class has a passive move speed or a way to nearly perma swift.
How much faster would you want a mount to go? 50% 100%?
Im not complaining, its a suggestion. If you see my key points this could have a positive chain effect not to mention more people means more people buying from the gemstore too. Its a suggestion that brings more income to anet and adds more for the players.
I do think there are arguements for mounts, I just do not think that encouraging people into lower levels is one of them. I am not against mounts nor am I pro them I am very much a fence sitter! I just think the arguements for and against need to be clear and real.
I tried to make it as clear and real as possible. Some of the zones are ghost towns and I brought up that the reason why is because people probably dont want to be running around on foot again and have nothing to really do there. Now what Im saying is that if mounts were available then maybe people would just ride around just because it would be a different experience which would create more people in empty zones and im not saying that this would encourage people do go there for DE’s but I think there is a pretty good chance they will stop and do a DE if they are riding around in the area and happen to see one.
My key points
I just do not believe after the first hour of having a mount you are actually going to go to low level zones just to ‘go for a ride’ as it were. Even if you do I think ver very few people will join you in that pursuit. There needs to be something more rewarding to take people back to lower level zones.
Ok I agree that there needs to be a reason but lets just say mounts are available at level 80.. Now all the higher end players can come out and help or do some kind of achievments in the lower level zones if new things are added. I just think that mounts would encourage players more to be in these zones not to mention that having a mount is a sense of achievement which seperates the look of a level 80 compared to the other levels. It is also a business strategy imo because like I said I do believe that mounts appeal to more people than the ones that are against it. Of course I could never prove that on these forums but I just cant see how it would due more harm than good. The thing is having a mount is a choice, it doesnt affect anything in my opinon because if you don’t want it then play the way your playing right now and just teleport wherever you want. The people that want to ride will ride and the people that dont want to wont.
" I think it greatly increases the chances that they will stop and help with an event which would fix the problem for people saying that the de’s have died down in certain areas."
I don’t see that as the case. As a matter of fact it would be quite the opposite.
This is were I would disagree because I would stop and help if I happen to be roaming around on my mount and the De is right next to me.
I dont get your theory on how it would have the opposite effect? If the zones are empty there would be nobody there to help with a DE. My theory is if there are people riding around in the area there would be higher chance that they will stop..
(edited by camoflaugz.5031)
I do not think the waypoints are remotely responsible for this nor would mounts help. Waypoints are instant they do not keep you out of the zone for more than a few seconds so their effect is minimal on activity levels. There does need to be more done to encourage people that low level zones are an option for their max level characters. However, mounts just aren’t going to do that no one will return to a zone just because they can now run through it on a mount.
I would return to lower level zones just because it would be nice to ride around through it but to be honest I wouldnt be running on foot around areas that Ive already uncovered I would just teleport there which doesn’t seem like exploring anymore, its just getting from point A to point B in a matter of seconds then finish what you have to do and teleport somewhere else and this is my theory of whats causing alot of zones to look empty. I really think that mounts would help alot, I know that alot of people are against it as I once was but I think people are against it because they want to be too different from the other game. The fact is though it doesn’t break the game in anyway and I think that mounts appeal to alot more people then the ones that don’t want it.
I used to be against the idea of mounts being in the game but I am starting to notice that it might be a great idea now and here are my reasons why. As Im out exploring I notice that some zones seem really empty and the only time we come together is during a dynamic event and sometimes not. The thing is I came to the conclusion that you only see people running around when they haven’t got all their Waypoints yet but once they have them the zones start looking more and more empty because people tend to just teleport to an area on the map because theres no point in running around areas youve already explored.
Anyways I think that with having mounts people would be more encouraged to revisit lower level zones and the end result would be that youll see more population in the zones because people would want to explore while riding rather then running through a place theyve already been too. I think it greatly increases the chances that they will stop and help with an event which would fix the problem for people saying that the de’s have died down in certain areas. Other than that, mounts should only be available as an achievment at level 80.
I see what your saying about elitism and how this can promote to that. Oh believe me I know all to well about Diablo 2, 3 and wow.. I was thinking it would be fun to see but now that I think about it this could actually lead to alot of trash talking putting other players down etc. If they added it in that would be cool but if they don’t no worries, I guess I understand what it can cause.
PS: If a moderator would like to delete this topic feel free to.
Would it be possible to add a damage meter in the game? Something similar to the addon called “recount” Im sure you guys know what I’m talking about. Sometimes its tough to know who’s doing what especially in dungeons. It would be nice to see damage, heals , and condition removal stats etc. I think it adds fun to the game and it helps players learn more about each others class. For instance if a certain class in your party has abilities that can help the group but is unaware of the ability the rest of the party would know because they can see in the stat window that this person isnt up to par with heals etc.. I actually played alot with people who never even knew they had certain abilities that would help keep the group alive etc. I also think this is part of the fact why some people say 5 abilities is just too boring.. I know that some of these people don’t really know that they could be helping much more than just spamming 5 abilities. I have grouped many times with elementalists that never switched specs to help heal the party simply because they don’t even really know about using water spec etc..

I could agree that some improvements could be made to the game but what I can’t understand is how anyone can say that wows skill curve is higher than this? I left wow because it was way too easy lol, I could tank and have dinner at the same time and for dps all you do is just stand there and do a rotation. Played wow since beta and just recently left, I feel this game takes far more skill especially in the dungeons.. Could you imagine being grouped in a dungeon in gw2 with the scrubs in wow that are a dps class and want to pull everything and expect a tank to save them all the time? They wouldn’t last a second in the dungeons here and right away they would be saying this game needs tanks and heals..
I agree in part. yes some 5 man dungeons in wow where pretty easy. But some 5 mans and lots of raids had fun mechanics. I feel like GW2 dungeons have a huge lack of mechanics and environmental play most is just kite boss/adds and switch aggro if in trouble. Thats like 90% of the EM mode fights
ok I can agree that mechanics can be buffed up a bit but as far as the skill curve with the classes go gw2 hands down takes more skill than wow, you dont just stand there and do a boring rotation. I just know for a fact that those scrubs in wow, “you know what Im talking about” would be frustrated in the dungeons here because there is no tank or heals that going to save them from the dumb mistakes they make.

Your playing the game right:) you have to switch in order to use different abilities in certain situations. If you stay with one weapon the whole time for instance your greatsword chances are youll be dead. You have to know when to fall back and go ranged especially if your close to dying to give you time for your heal to go off cd. This is one of the reasons why people would like tanks and healers in the game because they havent figured this part out..
Ingame my Camera-Settings are already on the lowest settings, i have a Razer Deathadder, i already played a lot of other MMOs and Games in general, and yes it is way to fast after the patch, it was normal before to me it seems that the lowest setting is now way faster (i already used the lowest ingame setting before because i run my mouse with high dpi)
The problem is my mouse is perfect for every other purpose and game yet it only is too fast in this game so why should i be forced to change everything to undo problems one game caused with updates (it seems it doesnt have application profiles, sadly).
Also as i said before i think one of my biggest problems are FPS it seems that FPS drops and preaks alter my camera movement which makes it this way which seems to make me ill, the game was perfectly normal on this settings before with 30-50 FPS with drops and peaks i probably didnt realize, and the problem is that first of all why should i have to tune down all my settings now? And more important i even tried that but FPS never seem to be that stable and the gain of FPS while staying within my prefered resolution is limited while it makes the game look ugly.
I do understand that some people like that, but why shouldnt people be able to opt out if it makes them sick? And as i said before i dont see any point of this direct mouse-input in a game like this, it is a good thing in FPS games but it is utterly pointless in PVE.
@WasaGuest my room is not that dark ^^ also i never had this sort of sickness-issues in any game before,, yeah i do understand that FOV can make one feel ill yet i also have limited space on my desk to move my monitor not to mention that by doing so i pretty much paid the price for a bigger screen for no reason (and i need my PC for work most of the time where i have to be near the Monitor i mean it could help but yet am i really expected to adjust all my furniture and behavior to one single game because the developer was to lazy to ad a “turn off” option into the game?
It really sounds like you have the same problem as my friend did. When he told me the camera was way too fast I knew something was wrong because Ive been gaming with him through almost every MMO. What was happening is that when he would look up the camera was so fast that the view would be underneath his character. All he did was move the dpi slider down in his Razor mouse software “which can be downloaded on their website if you don’t have it” and everything was fine after that, it was that simple. Give it a try because it doesn’t move any faster than any of the mmo’s out there. It sounds like the speed your experiencing is something different than we are.

You do need accurate camera movement in an MMORPG. Its not even completely disabled so its hard to believe that youve tried any other mmo besides this game. If its way too fast for you then maybe its your dpi setting. My buddy had a problem like that on his razor naga. He lowered the dpi and problem was fixed.
Again thx for the camera smoothing fix. Game is much more enjoyable now. Don’t know why anybody would want the old camera, who wants to move with a delay? Having responsive controls is pretty much the right way of doing things not just for pve but for pvp as well, you cant have PVP and call it an esport with unresponsive controls.. Best patch so far imo.
Is it still going to be 5v5? any chance we can have smaller matches like a 2v2 or 3v3?
Thanks so much! The camera feels alot better now. Now it feels sharp when I turn and stuff. Been waiting for this for weeks:)
The game doesn’t need tanks and healers.. if you wiped over and over then thats a player issue. Either you don’t know the dungeon very well or your team wasn’t using the right skills.
-The LFG system I can agree with, spent lots of time just standing in front of dungeons. An LFG Channel would be nice.
-Smaller scale tournaments in pvp which I haven’t done yet because of the 5v5 issue. I want to play 2v2 or 3v3 similar to wows arena. I play with rl friends so it works out best for us.
-Better camera or an option to disable the camera smoothing.
-More abilities- 5 gets a little boring at times even with the weapon swapping. I think 6 or 7 would nice.
-Better looking gear, alot of the gear looks the same especially in the early levels.
- Home waypoints. I want a home waypoint which doesn’t cost anything similar to a hearthstone.
- More speed. I think it would be more fun if the game was faster such as the abilities and character movement speed.
Overall I’m pretty satisfied but those things I mentioned would be nice, for me atleast.

I have a 24" monitor at 1920×1080, and I play at 90-100 fov whenever possible.
Also, if an issue does not affect you, that doesn’t mean it’s not important.
I’m on a 25 inch monitor… how do you know what fov your playing at?
I dont get those headaches and stuff but I do know that the game looks way better with a higher fov, I tried the window mode thing and it looks really good. I know some people are having real issues with it though and I hope they can get a slider to choose there own option. Of course I would benefit from this too.
It would suck if players left the game because of this fov issue because I am one of those type of people that would quit a game if I don’t see many people running around and stuff. A lonely world takes all the fun out of it for me no matter how good the game is.
My real issue is the camera smoothing, I don’t like the feel of the camera when I’m moving. It’s playable but I’m sure I am not getting the best experience out of the game, it could be much better. Its been addressed and we should see this fix in the next build. When is the next build by the way does anyone have a clue? hope its this month.
@Jon
Thanks for letting us know whats going on. I am quite happy just to hear anything about what your plans are with the camera issue. Looking forward to the quick fix with the smoothing. By the way is this going to be a slider, something your can disable or is it just gonna be a fix that doesn’t have any options?
Just thought I would check this to see if any news has come out. Still waiting on a status update for this. So what do you guys think? is this something that’s going to be addressed soon, months, or we may never get be able to disable the smoothing at all?
I check the forums everyday just to see if there is any new news on the camera smoothing and fov. Please give us some info on whats going on with this
Ever seen Snakes on a Plane?
Just because the community want it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.
How so? not trying to be smart about your comment but explain how it couldnt be a good idea? is it about the players or is it about the designers vision of the game and only their vision?
I brought up Snakes on a Plane because they used exactly this logic. During production the movie got a lot of internet buzz and they extended shooting to include a lot of ideas their fans wanted to see, thinking it’d make the movie better. Then it came out and tanked at the box office.
It sounds contradictory but knowing what you like isn’t the same as knowing how to make something good, and anyone who’s tried anything vaugely creative will probably have experienced this in one form or another. I’ve made some truly terrible pasta sauces for example by throwing together various herbs and spices I love, because the trick is in making them all work together. And also making sure one thing isn’t overwhelming everything else, or simply that you’re not over-doing it so everyone gets sick of it, like eating too much chocolate at Christmas.
It’s the same with art, or game design, or websites, or cars, or anything really. Making a great end product requires a lot more than simply throwing together whatever parts seem cool and the designers can’t do it if they give up that control to a crowd of people all clamouring for their favourite features to take center stage.
Ok I guess I understand what your saying. Just thought this might be a good idea because sometimes or id say majority of the time game developers have a vision that they think people would like but only to find out only a small percentage like it and what they thought was wrong. Isn’t that how majority of games are? Anyways I just thought that the safest route would be to really find out what people want instead of taking huge risks. I don’t really have any suggestions and I do enjoy the game alot, its just that I see people complaining about dungeon rewards or end game stuff so I figured why all the hassle, just take a poll and add what people want?
