So that cast time problem...

Fun fact: Every fear will inflict chill, just use the combination of both to damage spike an enemy, team up with an engi and kitten will get real (pvp wise)

Oddly enough, the last time they made fear plus another skill powerful (Dhumfire & Bleed) it became so devastating that the player base had tantrums and we got nerfed.

Here’s to hoping that this time around it works out for us, or at the very least everyone else is so enthralled with being a Revenant that they don’t notice we can kill people.

The theme that Anet continues to support with Necros is the ‘keep enemies close’ concept. I understand the concept, but outside of normal PvE that idea doesn’t really work.

In Dungeons the Mobs do much heavier damage or the bosses have mechanics that basically negate the entire concept.

In PvP and WvW the fights end up getting reset or the Necro is CCd and focused into dust regardless of how close our enemies are.

Hopefully this will somehow be addressed in the expansion. I am not confident at all about it anymore. This GS Necro looks like fun and the idea is interesting. I just don’t see how this will solve any of the notorious Necro problems that plague us.

Why do you want to be others?

chefdiablo.6791

I can honestly say that I do not want stealth for my Necros.

I would like to have access to better stability, some healing for my main health bar while in DS, and perhaps my utilities while in DS.

If I can’t have access to those things, then some leaps, gap closers, or charges would be appreciated. I don’t want all things under the sun, moon, and stars. A few would be greatly appreciated.

I would also appreciate some skill cast times to be adjusted. When you play other classes and then play a Necro you can see a huge difference in skill activation and interrupts along with large misses because the enemy has moved on and stopped for a quick coffee before your skill has been cast.

Getting hit is part of the game but with DS you end up frozen in time against real enemies, unable to heal.

This is not about being like another class, it is about having an equal opportunity in a fight as the enemy. Necros have some strengths and some very good tools in certain fights, but there are whole areas of this game that they are considered worthless compared to others.

All classes should be desired in all aspects of this game in some way, shape, or form. This is a tough challenge, but it is required nonetheless.

A way to gain ascended without crafting

I have no issue with working towards the BiS gear.

The only time I have an issue is when completion is gated behind only one type of content.

Forcing players to PvP, or play in WvW, or to do dungeons and Fractals in order to obtain a specific item or currency for said gear is annoying.

The way the Ascended gear is set up it can be obtained in numerous ways without doing anything more than just killing stuff or participating in events. This might be a very slow and tedious method, but it will have results eventually.

For those that like to have projects the crafting ability is there.

The only way that Ascended gear could be made available via other means without circumventing the time gates and effort of the other two methods would be to gate it behind a massive gate of achievements and tasks which would probably include a similar time and effort gate to crafting it. Otherwise this new theoretical method would just kill the crafting market.

There will be no easy way to get full Ascended gear in GW2 in the near future. No new gear tiers are expected.

Let it go, your dreams of easily obtained BiS gear will not be fulfilled.

Necro Warhorn

Shouts can be made to buff allies’ ability to harm enemies, which is very likely because of Orders, and would be great support.

As for warhorn, the only change I’d really make to it is maybe a blast finisher on 4, and changing the locusts to not deal damage unless you are already in combat (so they don’t put you in combat when you run past some boxes).

This is something I have been calling for from the start. I like Locust swarm aside from the incidental force into combat. In sPvP there are fewer objects to have this happen but, in PvE and WvW this skill has to be managed carefully.

If it was modified to not force us into combat on objects or non-aggro creatures unless we are already in combat, it would be a perfect skill in my opinion.

This is wishful thinking though. Hopefully the re-work for HoT will give us some of the most desired things we need to get into favor outside of WvW, but I am not confident on this at all. I have largely accepted the fate of Necros in GW2 as unloved by our parents by this point.

[PvP] Signet of Vampirism

I run this heal on my female Necro with a vampiric build. I have hopes that one day Anet will improve the concept a great deal more of course.

In open world PVE she can face tank a fair bit of damage but I have to be constantly managing all the available siphons, and attacking to get heals from both the damage taken and damage given.

It it nowhere near perfect, but I find it kind of fun to play in open world. I don’t do dungeons and have no plans to ever do them.

There seems to be no viable way to make this a good PVP build with it. The huge spike damage that zerker’s lay down can’t be repaired if they are highly mobile; all your siphons will miss or be interrupted the majority of the time. WvW in a large zerg would even be challenging because she has to be in melee range to be the most effective and the lack of stability for Necro makes that anything but fun.

For now my Vamp character is just a fun type open world toon until Anet reworks those traits and/or skills to land more effectively.

I have two Necros. One of them was my first character, a Sylvari, that I use as a Powermancer type build. The other is a Human with a Vampiric build type.

I treat them as different personalities as I do with all of my characters. I don’t have too many, but they are all individuals. I don’t role play per se, but I feel it is important to distinguish each character as independent personalities with preferences and views that separate them from one another.

Do older people play this game?

Im 66 and been playing MMOs since Anarchy Online, if anyone can remember that.
Heres an interesting question though.
Trying to get one of my friends whose the same age as me into this game , and she hasnt got a lot of dexterity in her hands, so which class needs the least button mashing to play?

As previously suggested a gaming mouse with the side buttons will help a lot. Out of all my characters I find my warrior the least demanding as far as key strokes go. They are forgiving during most PvE game play as well. A few minor mistakes are not detrimental to survival if some dodges and such are missed.

My older Naga buttons went on the fritz after about 10k hours of gaming…while I was waiting to get a new mouse, I had all sorts of struggles with turning and movement. My Warrior got preferential treatment there for a while.

Good luck, I hope your friend does join you in Tyria.

Edit; a Hunter might be good as well seeing someone else’ suggestion. I don’t play one and therefore have no basis to compare.

I am always happy to help new players to learn how the game works and what to do or not to do.

General game play will provide most of the answers, however there are some things that are just not obvious and require research and help to figure out.

On the other side of the coin; sometimes the help is met with hostility, trolling, and silly arguments. Because of this I tend to keep to myself and leave things be. I usually whisper players in dire need of assistance just to avoid the caustic player types.

I don’t do dungeons and fractals because I just hate the negative nature of the majority. WVW was at one time my permanent home. I left it behind because I grew tired of running around in giant zerg blobs that more often than not became hostile as well.

My best advice is to seek out a guild that is helpful and friendly.

Aside from pursuing the wrong achievement for the title, I do wish Anet would have expanded the narrow list of giants available to complete the 1000 kills to include all of the giants in the open world game area.

Giants are not that common in the game to begin with, there is no logical reason the ones found in Orr do not contribute to the completion.

Dye frustration

Making dyes as a cook would be something to complain about.

Made 40 rare dyes the other day which needed around 54 gold worth of materials and a few thousand karma.

What I got for all the time and resources was 40 dyes with a market value of less than 10 gold. couldn’t even use any of them as had them already.

Needless to say I won’t be making any more.

This I can identify with.

In general even the basic materials for cooking are very painful to acquire compared to other crafting professions. Making dyes as a Chef feels like it’s an incomplete portion of the profession.

Unfortunately GW2 has made gold farming the ideal method for getting everything you need. It is far easier to farm the gold than it is to farm the materials you need for just about everything.

Anet needs to bring back the Fire Elemental we had at launch where it spawned and then you saw a large blob of 50 dead players and a couple of live ones running for their lives. Good times!

A balance between the old version and the current version would be nice. Scaling is very out of whack for these low level world bosses. They can’t be too difficult for new players to participate effectively, but nor should they be a ten second romp.

I do recall my first encounter with FE just after launch….most people couldn’t even get across the bridge safely.

They designed and built a car. Asking for wings to make it fly or a hull so it can drive on water isn’t going to happen.

That is the problem… they said they were going to make a car without wheels… so we were all expecting some new kind of mobility, some hover system or anything… instead they did what they said… they built a car without wheels and nothing more. A simple car without wheels.

It’s easy to say we will remove the trinity just like that… so hey, whats new? what will replace it? nothing… lot of classes that can do everything. We are single players doing the same next to each other.

This is almost exactly what I expected when Anet stated there would be no trinity.

The first MMO that I ever played was called 12 Sky. There was no holy trinity in that game either. Believe it or not the MMO genre did not solely revolve around the trinity concept. That concept grew deep roots because the big games used the system and the players only knew one way of playing.

It will take time for non trinity based games to grow roots of any kind. If you don’t have the patience for it or any interest in that. So be it. There are hundreds of other games that will suit your tastes.

I am not going to try and sell you on this game and the non trinity system. That would be a supreme waste of my time.

This game will simply lose players that are fond to role playing games simply because this game is not a role playing game. Nobody has a role in a group.

Clearly you don’t understand what role-playing games are. The role-playing is you as a human being playing the role of a fantasy adventurer. That is the minimum requirement, of which GW2 fulfills in its entirety.

I have to agree with you and Vayne on this.

I play each of my characters as if they really have personalities and a purpose within the game world.

I am not a hardcore RPer acting out a persona within that framework but I respect those players a great deal and make sure that when I encounter them my actions are not a negative impact on how they play the game.

GW2 provides me with the exact kind of game play I like. I can participate in group events and game play as I see fit yet still be sell sufficient enough to do my own things on a solo basis when I choose to.

During many encounters I will go way out of my way to heal or rez a player when they need it.

I will swap out utilities on my Warrior, Guardian, or Necromancer(s) that will help with certain fights and encounters. For me this is role.

I don’t do dungeon play. I probably would except that I rarely want to dedicate a time frame and completion aside for an encounter and often have it placed in jeopardy due to group malfunction, attitude/ego, and or super fast or super slow play.

I want to come and go within the game world whenever I want to and GW2 gives me everything I need and allows me to experience most of the game without requiring extensive game play.

The moment the holy trinity shows up, all of that changes. Suddenly the world becomes a place that revolves around forced grouping and content that is less accessible for me.

As it stand right now group players have content of varying difficulty that they can play that does not impact me and I have content of varying difficulty that I can play at will that does not impact the group players.

If you want to change an entire game structure and the entire system in order to find some level of enjoyment you are in the wrong game. What you seek is available in so many other places.

Go there. Enjoy. Stop trying to make my game into something else please. I promise you I will never show up in your trinity based game trying to make it into something else. That I guarantee.

I overall agree with the above reply.

It really does not take too long to level to 80 and by the time you reach the 65+ range you should have a better idea of the weapons you prefer and which skills you get the most benefit out of. At this point you are also going to be slotting gear that works with how you play and what weapons you are using as well.

Until you at the very least get to 60 you can’t even consider the Grandmaster traits which are really what is going to define your build regardless. Even the gear is kind of strangely set up with rune choices that give only 4 slots of synergy and two slots for something else whereas at the end game gear you can have 6 slots dedicated to a rune set or mix and match as you desire.

I would even say that any investment in gear is very low priority due the speed with which most gear becomes redundant.

Gear and traits are going to go hand in hand for a build and your time invested in both will be fairly short.

Pop into the sPvP area to mess around for free on some builds and test it out on the NPCs to get an overall idea of how things work for one build or another. There are some limitations regarding the results but not enough difference to prevent you from getting a good feel for what builds you prefer and a general direction for which traits you find most rewarding.

Gambling for a precursor or saving almost every copper in order to buy the one you want or need is a huge turn off for me regarding the legendary hunt.

I have not had a single precursor drop after 3735 hours. I have tossed a few items in the Mystic Forge but I will not invest in that avenue as my luck in real life and online has always swayed to the bad side.

I have made three Ascended weapons thus far and I will be on my way to a forth before long. The effort involved in making Ascended weapons seems to be just right in my opinion and even though I have had to focus on it while ignoring other aspects of the game at least I have results to show for it.

Issue between solo player and farmers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: chefdiablo.6791

chefdiablo.6791

I don’t know if it is willful disregard or blind disregard for farmers on Anet’s behalf but there are a larger percentage of players that just want to farm gold and materials.

The constant adjustments and funneling of players in and out of specific areas is what leads to these conflicts.

I don’t think there will ever be an absence of conflict but there was never a Champion farm lynch mob prior to some other changes either.

On one hand I don’t want to see the loot drops reduced in order to curb the growing hostility towards players that don’t play like sheep and follow the herd but I also think that the Champion drops and spawn frequency is too often.

The loot quality needs to be distributed throughout the game in many ways including as rewards for completing Dynamic Events. It does not have to be set as a reward for every single completion but even randomly allowing players to get some chests with high level materials in them would break up the group clutter and entitlement that some Champ farmers are guilty of.

I farm stuff too but I don’t delude myself into thinking I own the rights to any mob or boss either.

Blood magic dagger build

in Necromancer

Posted by: chefdiablo.6791

chefdiablo.6791

At low levels you can get away with playing around with various builds and not really see the weaknesses of them straight away.

Later on when you end up doing more content where you encounter bucket loads of CC, or heavy spike damage and just overall more intense situations the glaring weaknesses of duel daggers and the blood magic line show up. (ie. blinds don’t work on some mobs and such)

With practice though almost anything can be manageable of course but that is up to the individual.

I have been slowly working on a second Necro and playing around with the duel daggers and the blood magic trait lines in anticipation of the up coming adjustments Anet has hinted at/suggested. I just wanted to get comfortable with the current skills and the rotations before hand and I am eagerly awaiting the chance to see if my “Vampiric” Necro will have a place in this game or not.

One thing to keep in mind when you play this game; resetting your traits is very cheap overall. Do not feel like you have to stick with one build for everything forever. Gear can be costly but mostly from the cosmetic point of view, most basic sets can be obtained with a reasonable effort and transmuted later on if you want.

On my main Necro I have officially two sets of gear. I swap pieces in and out depending on what I want or need to do.

Sometimes you have to adapt to the content for the sake of yours and your teams enjoyment, but if you are not having any issues than it probably isn’t broken.

Scarlet event completion survey

I am on SoR.

After the event was updated last I have not been present for a single completion and suspect that it has not been completed since then.

I used to attend as many as possible because the rewards are reasonable but lately I don’t bother at all. Usually a mild argument breaks out between those that want to complete the event and those that just want to farm the Aetherblade Champions.

I used to get a very high percentage of the rewards even a few days after the last update but with most people leaving the fights the second the Champs are down to zerg the next one, the up scale effect leaves some people suddenly in some deep trouble against a great deal of damage.

I just don’t enjoy failing an event or bouncing all over the map trying to keep up with the Champ farmers just to survive for a moderate amount of loot. If you happen to be with the right group and follow the right leader you can grab plenty but that has been more of a gamble recently.

I also had one incident where something applied 22 stacks of bleed on me, I cleansed it and got hit with another stack of I don’t know how many again. That just put me off the event for a while. I think it was the end result of an up scale situation where most of the zerg blitzed away to something more rewarding and left a handful of us in dire straits. I am not entirely sure because I was pretty frustrated about that one.

As far as feeling obligated to farm the world bosses and temples in order to gather materials I am in agreement.

I also tended to only attend these events if I was nearby doing something else.

To answer the people that ask why the rush; simple reason really, Teq was revamped to be an event that is largely dependent on organized groups and avoiding trolls in order to complete it. I have concerns that other world bosses are at risk of becoming adjusted as well thus reducing access to these items. I would rather get a good jump on my weapons and even store up some stuff for the armor options at a later date before they become unreachable or more difficult to gather.

I would not be on such a hasty timeline normally but the Teq fight has opened up the possibility that access to Dragonite ore could be reduced in the future and I would rather be ahead of the curve for a change instead of left behind.

I am not having any of the other issues as the OP right now however but I can understand the urgency he feels.

GW2 PvP too hard for MMORPG folks

in PvP

Posted by: chefdiablo.6791

chefdiablo.6791

I have been giving this issue a great deal of thought recently as it continues to be a hot topic and a concern for many of the top pvpers that are still actively members of the community.

One of the first games I ever played was almost entirely pvp based because your enemies could invade right to your main city and kill anyone that was not basically a brand new player. The skills were limited overall in relation to weapons and builds tended to rule the game not unlike GW2.

Most MMORPGs that have a notable pvp aspect to them also tend to have a large array of skills to use. This ultimately increases the skill cap because most low end pvpers mismanage their CD’s, have limited understanding of how they all work, and usually don’t have standard and established rotations. Often they have a small group of skills they use all the time and never ever use the others viewing them as weak or useless.

GW2 has reduced that to a very basic level in comparison to other games in the genre. This also reinforces the ease of which FOTM builds and skill “spam” are notoriously blamed for low skill play.

There is a logical and realistic argument at the root of the top tier level. Animations and random skill spam along with dodging does ultimately bring the gap between the top players and the bottom players closer together. Character size does make this exponentially harder to read thus making the pvp in this game random and frustrating.

The reality is even if the animations and the characters in pvp were standardized sooner or later the gap would still close between the top and bottom tiers of competition.

The limit of weapon choices along with specific builds are fairly easy to establish and because of that it will not take an average player very long to reach a competitive level on any of the basic classes.

We currently have Engies, Eles, and Mesmers as arguably the most difficult classes to play by default. Necros used to be in this category prior to the famous patch but have since become a great deal easier to play.

Warriors, Guardians, Thieves, and Hunters have been the easy to approach and easy to learn classes from the beginning. Some of this has to do with how certain class mechanics can be used to bail out weaker players and some of it has to do with how they are inherently built from the onset at creation.

No matter how much tinkering Anet does with these classes as they stand with regards to weapon choices, skill options, and the trait options it will not take long for manageable and simple to learn builds to surface.

If they were to expand on the ability and weapon choices to build up charges on other skills and combo options we would see that gap increase. If they were to take the basic 14 to 20+ skills (depending on class of course) and ramp that up to 30 or 40 general options we would certainly see a larger divide between the upper and lower tier pvpers. Mastering a build would take more time and the elite players would have more tools and options to counter the basic builds.

GW2 as it stands is not on the path to become an elite pvp playground.

Square peg meet round hole.

Conditions Applied For No Reason

in PvP

Posted by: chefdiablo.6791

chefdiablo.6791

I am interested in what specifically has brought this to light.

I know that there are some rune sets outside of the sPvP area that can proc damage and conditions under some circumstances but I am not sure of any presently in sPvP that would cause this.

Is this what you experienced or is this related to a skill set or class specific feature?

Some skills bounce to multiple targets. Necros have a couple of skills that will do this like the off hand dagger blind and the the focus has an invulnerability that can bounce as well.

As Knote mentioned Epidemic also can hit players that are not targeted if they are in range.

I don’t know mesmers, eles, or engis well enough to know if they have skills that bounce or affect players that are not targeted.

The combat log at present does not offer easy ways to narrow down the source of condition damage which is in my opinion a poor design feature. I like to know what killed me, how, and where it came from so I can be better prepared in the future. I do not enjoy guessing at the source of some damage types.

Hotjoin is just a mess of a game type to start with. A large portion of the players play it like a death match or just zerg the map with almost no attempt at any type of tactical play.

Solo Queue is better but not until after you have got passed the first 10 to 20 matches.

There are other factors at play here;

The Hotjoin mess does not properly teach the players how to play the game due to the zerg/death match variables.

The current issues regarding the meta are also working against the community frustration pool, This is further embellished by various long time pvp players and the live stream personalities that are often reinforcing the negative issues even if unintentional. This also allows players that previously had few issues to suddenly bandwagon to the anti meta viewpoint or anti class/profession viewpoint as it is natural for people to choose the side of an issue if it appears that the majority of people are backing that view.

There almost zero moderation or consequences for truly insulting and or abusive players. You can report them of course but it does not always lead to punishment. There are some words and phrases that should automatically be filtered and suppress the chat privileges of an offender. Any racial or definitively abusive sexuality based slurs should be dealt with on the spot by an automatic chat suppression system.

Having a thicker skin helps of course but when boundaries are not firmly established and not absolutely enforced the problems grow out of hand quickly. Being called a noob does not offend me, the use of homophobic or racial slurs and insults though are over the line and inappropriate.

An Honest Evaluation

I like the suggestions of the OP and I agree with the point of view.

Having the event hi-jacked by people that want to torment and grief others is an issue and it is a big enough one that has led to the organized groups compensating for it.

On my server the organized groups take over an overflow server and essentially only invite the known “good” players with decent gear, etc. I don’t blame them really seeing as the investment of time and effort is so easily wasted but this is going to leave large portions of the player base out in the cold.

It seems the fight is largely centered around the turrets but given the number and how easily they can be used to grief the players in the area I see as one of the design flaws.

The first few times I went to the fight I was surrounded by people that were not even actively participating, they were just trying to jump the waves or the tail and so on.

I do not enjoy content that relies so much on the actions of everyone present to be playing at their best. This one of the fundamental reasons why I like this game so much and it is one of the reasons I will continue to stay away from the Teq event for now. I don’t expect or demand any changes in order to suit my tastes, but if ever the fight finds a middle ground of being a challenge as well as schadenfreude free I will invest the time and effort to complete it. For now there are too few hours in the day to camp one event on one map for such a small return on the investment.

Games have evolved over the year’s and the carrot is no longer beating the game. These day’s the carrot is working towards a goal typically some type of treasure. I really cant think of a single example that does not revolve around some kinda carrot here are some examples.

Mario Bros. – July 14, 1983 – The Carrot was saving the princess

The Legend of Zelda July 29, 1987 – The carrot was simply beating the game defeating the end game boss

Doom December 10, 1993 – The carrot was saving the world by beating the game.

Diablo December 31, 1996 – Carrot was leveling and getting loot to progress your character.

I could keep going mentioning more and more games. The bottom line is there is always a carrot aka a goal to achieve. What the op is saying is he no longer feel’s that goal exist. I can sorta feel his pain right now the thing keeping me in GW2 is my friend’s.

That’s really the point of MMOs. Making friends and playing together. The OP seems to not have friends or people to play with.

Being a part of a community gives longevity to how much gametime you spend. Who would actually play an MMO lone wolf style? That would be incredibly boring. Having laughs and hardships in an MMO community is golden.

OP I think you should try single player games. IMO it seems like they would suit you better.

I would play an MMO lone wolf style. 3653 hours of mostly playing by myself as I adventure throughout the world. Sometimes I meet people but most of the time I just do my own thing. I have 3 people on my friends list, one is a close real life friend that used a free trial weekend and assures me he will buy the game someday, and two people that are rarely ever logged on.

I enjoy my time in game a great deal. Please do not judge people based on a narrow vision of what you consider to be normal. It is wide variety of player types that make your community interesting and they contribute to making the in game world vibrant often in ways many players take for granted.

I quickly skimmed your post history. Clearing you are one of those players that must have a carrot to chase. You admitted it with your opening post.

Either this game is just not for you, or you need to discover new reasons for playing. Your very first forum post was about how WvW had zero rewards for time spent. This is a clear sign that you don’t participate in at least some activities just for the simple goal of having fun.

There is nothing wrong with that. I am very different in that respect. I like to collect and gather certain things that I think are interesting or have a purpose but I can also fill hours and hours doing many different things that have no progression at all.

You should not feel obligated to play a game that is not enjoyable and neither should Anet feel obligated to keep serving up things for you to chase after “crazily”.

The game was designed to have a limited gear treadmill so that you could take time off and yet return later without being far behind the bulk of the population. If I were in your shoes I would take a break and comeback in a few months or so. Coming here to get people to agree with you is not going to accomplish anything except add fuel to your negative feelings through confirmation and reinforcement of the problem. The other problem is that when people don’t agree with you and offer contrary advice and opinions you will just feel more vindicated and cemented in the funk.

I am not convinced all of these upset players would be any happier if they had 8 months of content to catch up while still having new content added bi-weekly.

The most likely scenario is that they would have a tantrum about being overwhelmed and lost in mixed story lines and half completed achievements. Few people would be jumping at the prospect of them out with various “old” living story content because then they would be at risk of falling behind or repeating something boring and outdated.

You can believe your friends and wandering guild members are truly dedicated and loyal players that are so disappointed in missing out on some wings and weapons skins. I have my doubts.

Personally I am one of those people that just doesn’t care about completing every single thing and has no desire to chase a shiny new weapon skin like I am some sort of mindless skrit. If there is something I like, I go for it, if not I don’t bother.

Reading all of this makes my head spin.

I am still in love with this game. There are changes that have occurred and they are obviously MMO flavored changes designed to keep the ship afloat and headed in a profitable direction.

I find some aspects of their direction to be frustrating. I have never lusted after legendary weapons mainly due to the price and time investment and partly due to the requirement for me to complete parts of the game I loath such as dungeons.

Ascended weapons are a reasonable compromise for me. I am not excited about them being time gated. I am not excited about having to farm World bosses and Temple events in order to get a specific material. I would choose the WvW route except that keeps and such don’t change hands often enough to make that a reliable method unless I played in WvW 100% of the time.

I am not a fan of the laurels either for that matter. Placing so many things behind time gates makes me feel a bit like I am drowning under the content. I work hard to keep my head above the water so to speak but sooner or later things drop off my to do list.

Keeping up with all of the Living story content was the first to go. It started out small and manageable but has blossomed into this huge time eating frenzy that is barely enjoyable while surround by the hundred or so content locusts flying about.

I have recently started a new character but for a long time I didn’t want to bother because I still have characters that have not been blessed with ascended trinkets as yet. I would have to break down and do Fractals in order to make that happen quicker. That is something that would certainly remove my enjoyment of the game.

Due to my disdain for dungeons I amassed my gold through other means primarily farming. For a really long time after release Anet seemed determined to squash any kind of farming which slowed my nest egg a great deal. I could become a TP guru I suppose but that style of money making has never been my forte. In real life I am worker bee and in my online life I am much the same.

With all that being said. I am not ranting throughout the the various channels about my frustrations and disappointments. As I stated previously, I still love the game and I just adapt. When and if things reach the point that I no longer want to adapt or if I am just unable to, I will quietly exit the game and find some place else to call my home.

Hanging around here making water in all the corners and flinging fecal matter will not lead to drastic changes rekindling your romance with GW2. Sometimes you just have to know when to call it quits.

A mouse with the buttons on it such as the Razor products or something like are a wise investment.

Over the years many games have increased the number of skills available and while GW2 is actually fairly low on actual skill options compared to most MMOs in market, it never hurts to have gaming hardware that can be used elsewhere.

I could not go back to playing with a regular commercial mouse without losing my mind.

I also have several skills bound to various different buttons for ease of use on my keyboard. No macros of course.

If you invest the time and money into decent gaming equipment you will elevate your game play. It would take some practice and patience but the reward is worth it if you want to get the most out of your hobby.

If you do decide to invest in a gaming mouse I suggest you do some research and also try to visit a place that will let you demo them for a bit if at all possible. Getting a product that is comfortable, and well built will make the transition easier.

Outside of my suggestions, rebinding your skills on the key board is one solution, but it will not eliminate your current problem entirely due to reach and key location issues if what you are describing is the issue.

Good luck and don’t be a clicker.

I don’t know how well this farming method pays out glory, but if they are essentially making a selling dyes at a reasonable amount this exploit could have a value aside from the rank factor.

19 silver per unidentified dye is not a worthless investment for someone farming them without any real effort.

I don’t know if this would be profitable at all. I have not personally spent any time doing such, but I would bet that somehow there is a monetary benefit for some. Farmers rarely subject themselves to mundane activities that have few worthwhile rewards.

The unidentified dyes are account bound that you get from PvP. You can only sell them once you know what type of dye it is.

Fair enough, I guess the last bastion would be the AP rewards, but I seriously doubt that yields a great deal.

I should not be surprised at the lengths some people will go in order to flex their eMuscles, but yet I still find myself perplexed.

3,633 hours 39 minutes over 391 days.

I have not found or forged a precursor as of yet.

Odds are; if I do it will be one of the least sought after ones.

When you have this much time invested in the game and still not benefited from a drop of that magnitude, I will then sympathize with you. Until then keep your chin up and worry about more important things like world peace, or saving the environment.

What are we "expected" to be able to solo?

Necros can be challenging for some people at various levels in the game especially if you get comfortable in a power/zerker build and then discover some of those more challenging areas of the game, or mobs that have plenty of CC and hit hard all of the sudden.

Taking a look at your gear and swapping out some pieces here and there for added survivability can make a noticeable difference.

I also don’t like to assume that someone does not know how to play their character, but using the wells and Death Shroud as mitigation tools can really alter how a fight goes down.

I am leveling my second Necro at the moment, level 43 right now with primarily a power build. Sometimes I use blinds to offset damage, sometimes I use the Flesh Golem as a tank and time his knockdown as best I can to prevent untimely damage.

Right now I have D/D, and staff but I can also afford to buy whatever gear I need every 10 levels or so.

I tend to use trinkets as my balance pieces. If I think I need more Vit, or toughness, etc, I swap out those items until I get the balance I need. Obviously runes and sigils are a large factor as well.

I am very comfortable playing a Necro in so many ways as it was my first character at launch and I have spent most of my time playing one. The biggest thing I discovered about every class is that what works for others will not always work for you. You sometimes have to take the suggestions as a base and then play around with things until you find a nice comfortable way to play.

Good luck.

ABOUT THE METHODS OF ESCAPE AND DEATHS

in Necromancer

Posted by: chefdiablo.6791

chefdiablo.6791

I find myself more and more in combat reset fights lately..

And it is becoming obvious necro needs an out of combat for free card.

heck if all other classes can and hide run we should too..

And don’t come with the traits d/d argument.. traiting for speed, like any other class has without traits is rediculous.

This prompted a thought. I understand the desire Anet has in trying to keep Necros from having too many tools at their disposal in any given fight and therefore I am resigned to not having a true escape skill. That said however, the ability to at the very least break out of combat would be nice.

What you pointed out is one of the issues I always have with my Necro. When the fight gets reset for one reason or another, it seems to take forever for me to get out of combat just to start a natural health regen, not to mention in WvW, the number of times some silly mob is now also fighting me because most Necro skills are AOE, or hit multiple targets giving advantages to my enemies more often than not.

The ability to leave combat is very powerful especially if you are able to let your enemy take the aggro of mobs and then re-engage while they are at a disadvantage.

I think I missed the memo where rank means absolutely anything at all?

No you missed every single word i wrote but the title…

Yes, I read all of it, of course. All of it seems to be based off the fact that you are offended because people can get something pointless. It’s all cosmetic and has literally zero show on skill, minimal show on time played – primarily it’s how much of a hotjoin hero you are. You’re upset that other people can show off how much of a hotjoin hero they are?

PvP rank might not have an intrinsic value but it is meaningful to some people because of the time and perhaps effort involved in acquiring the rank through legitimate means.

While an individual such as yourself might not care about rank, the value of that rank, or how meaningful it is, there are many others that do. The point being raised here is that this is essentially an exploit and it has largely been ignored.

Anet would not ignore a similar exploit if it was happening elsewhere in the game and further as history has proven, there would also be mass bans handed out to those people that grossly misused it.

I for one don’t much care either way about the glory farming but I am in favor of Anet being consistent throughout the entirety of their game at preventing exploits and punishing those that knowingly abuse them regardless of the value or meaning.

Lagg issues after hotfix!!!!

I don’t normally have any issues but the latency has been awful over the last two days.

It started with minor delays when I would try to farm a node and progressed to skill delay. There are times now where my character will not interact with a node at all and I have to move away and try again.

The latency would clear up for a bit and then return worse than before but as of today it is nearly constant.

I checked my whole system, did a defrag, updated my drivers, rebooted everything and the issues remain.

I notice the lag coincides with the new Teq battle. When he is attacking and if it fails the lag remains, if it does not fail the game runs normally again. This could be entirely a coincidence of course I only noted it because I tend to be in and out of Sparkfly Fen a great deal.

I don’t know if the issues are internet path related or if something is off elsewhere. What I do know is that I do not have any other internet issues with any other program running right now including other games and various streams.

I do hope that this issue gets resolved soon however because despite being a very patient person, I will go play elsewhere when my frustration levels to too high. Minor latency is something I can live with if it comes and goes and rarely occurs. This however is constant.

Regarding >>>Leaving a Transform – no heals/until buttons for 1sec + lag.

I remember this popping up not too long ago, but can’t remember where we left off on it. I’ve been playing Necro a lot lately and it has been bothering me, too. I’ll talk to the guys on Monday and see what this is all about, and see about taking care of it.

I think it was mentioned at some point there was a cooldown added to prevent unwanted skill executions when leaving a transformation. But again, I’m not sure if this was intended for Death Shroud.

-Bill

Good to know this will be on your list of important things to talk about. This really punishes a Necro that has used plague or DS in an attempt to wait out the CD for a heal. It is horrible enough the heal animation and cast time is long and obvious, having it go on a 1 sec CD along with that is just cruel punishment.

I have already made it a habit to try and heal prior to entering a transform in order to reduce the number of times I can be knocked out of it into downed state as it is.

I would love to see our utility bar while in DS just so I can track those CDs better as well, but I gather that feature is nowhere near being a priority at this point.

Thanks.

I generally like all the streamers.

I prefer the focus to be on tactical play, and the immediate game play issues that they are facing while streaming.

I have been tuning in much less lately though because the focus has shifted almost entirely to the current condition meta and all too often class bashing soon follows.

I understand the frustrations and appreciate the streamers point of view to an extent, but I have played Necromancer for over a year now and hate hearing my class get bashed over and over again for just about everything it does. I don’t sPvP very much and now with all of the hate flying around I am even less inclined to play.

If the channel is truly meant to draw attention to the game and sPvP in general, constantly bashing multiple classes and builds will do more harm than good.

The streamers are certainly entitled to their opinions and I do not begrudge any of them for that I just think that such things belong on their personal channels.

…Then again, I am not the type that likes to watch the world burn either so flame away if you must.

Are runes of traveler worth it?

I have been messing around with them on a hybrid build and so far I have no issues with them.

I like the D + D, and Staff setup with energy sigils, and one Geo for additional bleed.

I lost some power but my build makes up for it when the conditions get added on and I can move around comfortably while making full use of my utilities.

I tested it on some solo champs to see if I could keep a decent DPS rate and still survive in a reasonable way and was pleasantly surprised.

I am going to keep the runes on for a while and tweak out my build in several different ways to see what I can adjust.

The only down side is that my ascended jewelery does not really help my build as it stands. I could pick up some suitable exotic pieces for that but I am not disappointed at how everything is working right now.

I am interested in this build because stun lock warriors and Necros are focusing my current power build.

I don’t mind if I can tie them up off point or keep two or 3 on their home point and the rest of my team is working elsewhere, but reliable teams are not the norm.

Can this be used without staff as effectively or are the marks boosting the build?

I would say that the overall utility of the staff is just too hard to pass up. You get regen, condition cleanse, a fear, and a blast finisher all in one weapon. Don’t really see any other weapon being that effective for that role. Trust me, I too would like to be able to do without it, but in this build it has all the key things you need.

My feeling as well, just wanted some confirmation. Thanks.

Most MMO companies will ban you first and then have you contact them to straighten out any details if you are being investigated for account selling, sharing, or botting/gold selling.

It is kind of a pain in the butt scenario, but if they suspect nefarious intent regarding an account they don’t send a warning email.

If you ever have the need to confirm the details, contact customer service. They will happily, albeit not always quickly, help you clear up any account issues like this.

Edit; I never trust any link found in an email. If I need to get in touch with customer service via the web, I will go to the company site and locate the contact information there.
