You can get some really absurd ‘nado shower crits if you go all out for it, there’s videos of that in the ele subforum. Thieves can spec for all-out backstab damage and hit some really high numbers, and mesmers can get some crazy shatters off. Necros can do pretty well for themselves in Lich Form, though power necros are an endangered species. I don’t think engies or rangers can hit the same raw numbers, but engies make up for it in other ways, and rangers have that whole pet thing sapping their damage.
The ele thing doesn’t really work in spvp. The thief, I’ve never been hit for more than 5k at a time; but yes it can be spammable, but its much more gimmicky than 1 ability, hitting for more than your health pool.

Failed to a Kill Shot. So pro….
I feel like you are very biased about warriors. Hey, I play one too, it was my first toon, but don’t act like kill shot is impossible to hit. When I played greatsword/rifle for fun, it really was not hard to land kill shots if you weren’t being focused. However, mine never hit that hard. This is way out of line.
Congrats, you got hit by one of the most telegraphed skills in the entire game.
You’ve gotta be trolling
edit: I’m saying that because in team fights, you don’t have unlimited dodges. If this warrior has seen you’ve dodged twice, its game over.

Hey jax, on the build that you recomend swapping the sword to mace, how do you deal with ranged classes that kite when you use the mace?
Thanks jax those builds look very effective. And Harbringer, that looks like a good build, i’ll try it one day, but the ones jax linked seem to make the most sense. Anyone else have a build to recomend? The build I tried for lulz is 20/25/0/25/0. Pretty fun for gibbing people in hotjoins haha. Not to bad on dueling servers either.
edit: I’ll just wait and see what the community thinks about these builds :p
Okay guys, looking for a nice guardian offensive build. Doesn’t have to be bursty or leet damage. Just something that can score kills, and be effective on the offense. Currently I tried a build I made up of the spot that can get 20 stacks of vulneribility in 5 seconds, using scepter/focus + greatsword. I can kill chief in about 10 seconds, but not sure how effective it is in pvp yet. Looking for a build that uses any combination of greatsword/hammer/X + focus.
Bumping for a fellow friend who wants the read
OP is literally saying his internet is unstable and wants to join the game with this internet (which he clearly has no control over) the day after DCing 3 times AGAIN. Wow.
There is absolutely no problem here with the system. Know the 4on5s you ocasionally have to endure? Listen to OP and it will become more frequent.
Correction just to clarify. One dc during the night. One Dc the next morning, one Dc the next morning. Resulting in about a 20 hours ban. Not 3 in one day.
Edit: Basically one DC a day.
Double edit: And after I would be disconnected once, I could continue playing for the rest of the time I was on (several hours) making me assume it wasnt something going to happen again.
only 1 day? so you are aware your internet is bad, you are aware you probably will leave your team with 4v5….you are seflish enough to keep continue to queue and you are complaining about 1 day dishonorable????
i would bann you from any kind of pvp for a week
No, my internet is not bad. In fact, I don’t hardly ever have issues. It is something that started happening in the past 3 days. It’s not like I’m dcing over and over within a few hours, to think, “hey, I might need to take a break and try again later”.
Please guys this is not mature talking. How the heck anyone knows when their internet is going to have a hic-up? It can happen suddenly to anyone of us that doesn’t warrant this kind of hostility it’s just a game, chill. Don’t make it your life. Like the person above said it’s the system at fault not you’re occasional D/Cer who is. And yes they should put in place some AI that tells them who pushed some buttons and logged off intentionally and who lost a connection?
They expect you to ban your self the moment you get one issue, when your next one might not be until tomorrow.
I could honestly deal with a rank penalty that locuz mentioned and not have any animosity towards it. None at all. However not letting someone play for a tremendous ammount of hours for a few spaced out errors they can’t help, makes me feel like I really wasted money.
edit: With the penalty, I could atleast still have “fun” which seems so sacred, and more important than anything else to Anet.
I absolutely love threads like this. Concrete, definite proof that the dishonorable debuff is working well.
Working well? So it’s supposed to punish people who can’t help the problem even when the disconnects are so seperated apart it doesn’t affect to much of the gameplay as a whole? I could understand if I dced 3 matches in one day.
The system is way too harsh. Whats wrong with it refreshing every day. 3 days? Insane. Just like you all who agree to it. If they cared about peoples “fun” that much, it wouldn’t be this intense.
Just because your experience with 1 solo que(different story in team arena) makes you lose 1 match, is so terrible, someone shouldnt be pvp banned for day(s)? Right so just because your playing experience cant be perfect ALL the time, people who cant help it should get the skritt end of the stick? Please, you people are so greedy and arrogant.
Was in 12 4v5s last weekend out of 40 games played. 10 on our team and 2 on the opposing team. We managed to win 1 of the 4v5s. But i dropped about 800 rating due to that. (If any mod is around plz dont hesitate to check).
Youre basicly ruining someone elses experience. I think its incredibly selfish to pretend its no big deal. For you it might not be. But 12 games is 3 hours of my time wasted with uneven games that arent as fun to play.
But like i said before. Id prefer a “punishment” where the dced guy gets accounted for the combined rating loss of his entire team. You can still play after that , but you might lose a couple of hundred rating per DC.
If you care about rating go play team arena. Using solo arena for rating is just a bad idea period. Just because someone has good solo arena rating means absolutely nothing. At all.

Can you read? I have to stop pvping for —--3—- Days. to avoid a pvp ban. That is straight stupidity.
Typically, I have great internet, never goes out. The past 3 days, due to very cold weather, i get the occasional hiccup, only lasting mabye 10 minutes. The rest of the day is very stable. In the past 3 days, I lost connection once a day, everytime during a solo arena(the only thing I really play in gw2). Now I have dishonorable for a whole day? What an absurd punishment. This is way beyond what appropriate punishment is for someone who abandons their team. Funny is, I didn’t even purposely abandon the team.
Oh, and in before, if you disconnect twice, mabye take a break. To counter that, I say, I have to ban myself for 3 days which is the reset for dishonorable stacks, to avoid a 1 day pvp ban? This and the people who actually agree and think this is fine absolutely disgusts me.
I generally can deal with most things that sometimes don’t seem appropriate in mmos, but this is where is crosses the line.
Has anyone achieved rank 80?
To get to rank 80, how many times would you have to rank up to 10? Example, if you have unlimited guild wars accounts, how many accounts would you have to get to rank 10, that would require the same ammount of glory to get to rank 80?
Hundred Blades is already the best PvE skill in the game. Why would it be changed? Not every skills should be great at PvE, PvP, and WvW. You need to change it up depending on what you want to do.
This is extremely irrelevant and you are very wrong. Anet’s attempt is to make most playstyles and classes viable for pve and pvp content. One ability ajusted for pvp doesn’t have to be for pve. Look at how they did Gw1. They had pve and pvp versions of the same ability.
You must not be understanding the concept. Greatsword has no option to stun or immobilize.
10 points in Tactics: Leg Specialist; Immobilize a target when you cripple them with a skill.
Use GS: Bladetrail > Rush > Hundred Blades.
Congratz, you just successfully crippled+immobilized someone, rushed towards them and pulled off a 100b. All without the need to weapon swap or secondary utilities. Why do most warriors always want the cheezy way out? Is it that hard to actually combo off skills?
If by your definition then I (as a necromancer) can also ask for an immobilize on my axe #2 and dagger #2 skill, cause if the opponent dodges or runs out of range it doesn’t do full dmg. >_>
Also, paragraphs wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Because hundred blades drains health right? Or how about them pistol whips that are spammable, and daze the target? Also refer to the above post about why your setup is fail.
You must not be understanding the concept. Greatsword has no option to stun or immobilize. You rely on your second weapon set. Your options are: Mace 5 and Adrenaline. Shield 5. or use a hammer, which is only 2. Hammer 4 doesn’t count. Regardless, you get 2 stuns to hit the target. Any class can have 3 stun breakers. Most don’t, many have atleast 2, and most classes have escapes outside utility stun breakers.
If you don’t use haste with hundred blades, its extremely slow(3.5 seconds, stronger hits over the duration), and actually requires NO skill to get out of the way, yet a tremendous ammounts of “outplaying” the target to land just 1 hundred blade. All this time your target is burning you down.
1 second immobilize on a 3.5 second ability(the first second is actually pretty weak) does not make the ability require less skill. Especially with damage reduction, all it does is make it more effective, and less useless. It’s probably the most missed ability in the game.
You also have a 3 second immobilize on bow, and a trait for bringing down your weapon swap to 5 seconds (so you can perform weapon combos easier).
There’s also an interesting 4 second immob on utilities which could allow a full 100B landing. In any case, I don’t think GS needs any serious change until Arcing Slice is reworked to something useful. Improving the weapon before that happens would only bring problems in the future.
Agreeing with this.
I find it funny how you people are saying lol L2 wep swap. But that’s not the point. Yes there is many options, but once your target has avoided them. You have NOTHING. I could understand your point if you are playing against bad players, but the game isn’t balanced around bad players.
Oh yes, because warriors need yet another stun and/or immobilize skill. And better yet, they need it conveniently on their big DPS weapon so that they don’t have to bother swapping! Because we all know how arduous it is for warriors to swap weapons. Being the only class in the game that can reduce swapping to 4 seconds is really tough…
Have you really not tried using mace f1 or shield bash before swapping to GS 100b? Pin Down on the longbow anyone? How about traiting leg specialist to immobilize on cripple, then use blade trail. WAIT A SECOND!!! Blade Trail is on the GS!?!?? Holy. Crap.
Oh yes because we can use bow, mace and greatsword at the same time right? Big whoop we can swap faster, i guarantee you’ll only use pin down once per fight. Even so it’s instantly escaped, then you can only rely on leg specialist on Gs 4. Then that can even be escaped with further utilitys/class skills. What happens if they dodge that one of those immobilizes? You’re screwed. Hundred blades won’t EVER land then. The only chance you have is if you enter a late fight and hit someone without cooldowns/not paying attention. The point is, make hundred blades hit more often, and reduce its damage. Make it usefull. Not something that’s all about gambling to win. Stupid playstyle leads to uneffectiveness.

Many people are not happy with the current mechanics of hundred blades. Lets look at the game as a whole. When Gw2 was new, this was the meta for warriors quite some time. However the play style was very horrid. Almost like rolling dice. Pop cooldowns, charge, stun, hope they don’t break, hundred blades, dead. This was simply not an effective playstyle in reality. Other warrior builds were buffed to be viable, and now this leaves hundred blades even less effective than before, being nothing much more than a “troll” build for the warrior. Now, for the fix, lets take a look at actual problems of hundred blades. Damage is pretty high. Easily Avoidable. Not many options to hold a smart target from moving away(snares/stuns and avoidability are on a different level). My proposal is to first, reduce the damage by 10%/slightly extend cooldown or even reduce damage further and have a shorter cooldown. Please read out the rest of the post because I’m sure many of you will quit reading here. Now, in order to fix the avoidability issues, I believe upon the first hit of the hundred blades, a 1 second immobilize(possibly half a second even/half a second under the effects of haste) should be applied to the target. This wouldn’t change much because there are still ways to escape immobilize on every class. However, it would force the target to use an ability to escape the immobilize, allowing the next hundred blades become more effective, depending on how many skills the player has available to escape. This would make shorter fights favor the target, and longer fights favor the warrior. To me this makes sense, because an offensive warrior swinging in your face should become more dangerous, the longer he his hitting you. The damage reduction on hundred blades would help compensate for the increased effectiveness on hitting the target. If the immobilize effect still seems to strong, make it only happen if the target is already crippled. This would make further use of the cripple that greatsword has. It would help greatsword have more “setup” instead of “pop cooldowns try to gib”. This could be countered by a quick condition removal that most classes have. It would also require higher skill for the enemy player to dodge an expected hundred blades, instead of “noticing” the hundred blades, and saying to themselves, “hey I need to dodge, this guy is gonna own me if I stand here”.
Tl/dr, read anyways.
Thanks guys, so far I’ve tried the build i previously posted, and minion master. I don’t really enjoy MM, but condition seems good for now since im playing hotjoins/solo arena. I’ve been reasearching and found MM is best for teamplay arena. Is this true? I didn’t look at the MM video you posted, but I did for the spite necro. (not a newbie pvper, just newbie necro). A guildie suggested playing 0/5/30/30/5 for the MM build. However I didn’t enjoy it. Especially when i got into larger fights, some of my minions died, making me feel like I lost effectiveness mid fight and could hardly help, other than the survival it offered.
what are the traits/weapons/utilitys for dhuum/terror 30/20/0/0/20?

Hi guys, new to necromancers pvp, but been pvping for a while now. What builds/articles do you recommend me looking at? what are some basic things to know?
Bumping to see others opinions.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ghastly_Weapons (PvE Skins of the weapons)
Now, according to the pve version, they are supposed to glow “blue”, during night time, and not during the day.
In the pvp zone, they tend to glow during day, night, or not at all. Sometimes even half way; Blue gear, but no glow. When I’m in a pvp match, they could be glowing, but after I respawn, they return to no glow, no blue. Just metal colored. I understand its “supposed” effect in pve, but it seems just silly to have such a weapon to have situational appearances in the pvp zone. Especially if they don’t work properly. Sometimes they even work backwards, glowing when stowed, not glowing when wielded.
Tl;dr effects not working properly. Seems silly to even have situational effects in PvP. Especially when most maps are daytime.

My break is why I can’t be patient.. I chose this week to purchase the game because I knew I would have time to play… Figures.

As we’ve all been aware of the issue of people who purchase the game, to play with other players who have currently chosen a full server, the current work-around to play on a full server, is to constantly peek at its population and join when it drops from full to high.
I am on a week break as of right now, and began to download guild wars in the beginning of the week, and having problems with the downloader(shutting down for no reason in the middle of patching) it took me several days just to get the game running. After the game is up to date, I call my friends and family to see what server they are playing on, before I choose one. They told me Blackgate, which is constantly at full, no matter what time of day.
I had set my alarm clock to go off every 2 hours through the night just so I could check server population. It had been full every time I went to check throughout the night. It is also full from morning till night time. (I live in EST.) I now have 3 days left on my break, and getting very frustrated that I cannot play the game, not due to bug, but due to inconvinence of ANET.
My suggestion to this, is upon first launching the game, there would be some interface(before selecting the server) to accept friend invites(however not able to send invites until server is selected). If you accept a friend, then you should be able to choose their world, as your world, regardless of population.
A second suggestion, is make a phone app, that allows constant view of server population. Have an option to set an alarm off when server population drops.
