No matter how fun any game is, there needs to be a reward for the time and effort put in. In PVE this is usually equipment based or something to let you know that you are progressing. In an mmo doing a very challenging event or dungeon just for fun is going to fail.

Exotic armor should NOT be easy to get. Everyone who is complaining that the “easy way” of getting exotic prestige armor got fixed is in the wrong. So you can’t run the easy path anymore to get your exotic armor easy. That is intended. If anyone has played GW1 and remembers Obby armor, or 15k armor you would see the dungeons in a different light.
Too many people are focused on the now, now, now. I want my rewards NOW. If I don’t get them NOW I’m going to bekitten It’s pathetic that everyone has been conditioned to be able to get everything they want when they want it. No one has to work anymore for anything. I for one am ecstatic about having to work for my exotic skins. It gives me a purpose to play the game.
Stop rushing. Start playing.
P.S. Much like someone else said. Crafted Exotics have the same stats that dungeon exotics do. They might not have the stat spread that you want, but they have the same level of stats. Dungeon gear is purely cosmetic. Stop treating it like an easy to obtain set. It’s not SUPPOSED to be.

I beleive many people totally misjudged the role of these dungeons in the gw2 endgame..
Those armors offer no stat advantage compared to your normal exotics.You should farm them only if you want the looks and if you re good then to make a bunch of money.I dont think they were meant to be the ,wow style , gw2 endgame..

What about Story mode. Why on earth did they make it a lot harder and reduce the reward for that?
Story mode was not meant to be end game, it was meant to be run alongside your personal story, and it certainly isnt worth doing that now
i actually enjoyed helping new players through the dungeons, but i cant do that anymore
no it isnt. i think it counts as a seperate zone
well done for increasing the Funcom levels in GW2
eh, I wish. the dungeons in TSW are miles ahead the ones in gw2
True. i was referring to the way Funcom took AoC and then sucked the fun out of it with crappy updates in its early days

How is increasing Story mode diffilculty to make it comparable to explorable, yet reduce the reward a good thing?this thread is full of two kinds of people. people who got their stuff from dungeons and dont care about the cahnge because they dont have to be affected. And the peple who have to do twice the work others did for the same reward

I never found cof armor pretty looking anyway so this change is godly for me..
It increases the chanches i found group for the dungeon i want.
haha i’m not talking about CoF. or explorable. I’m talking about Story mode which had no reward apart from xp gains and now it doesnt even have that and its much harder then before :P
This is ridiculous. After this update it’s clear you are forcing people to BUY gold (gems) from your store, because there is no more substancial reward after completing dungeons.
I agree ANET should improve anti-bot settings, but this is by far the easiest, ilogical and cruel way of doing that.
Why would you want to buy gems??This change just makes dungeons less worthy..noone is forcing you to do them anyway.
Its dungeons today, it could be the mechanic you enjoy next time.
Its pretty much the route SWTOR took. changes made without any form of consultation thinking they knew best.

find a time machine and you will get more fun.
Dodge is even more useless in dungeons now. in an effort to be constructive, let me give an example. The golem at the start of the CM run. he does a barrage of rockets which take out nearly all health if not all. now on my run i was playing particular attention to this attack, and the first time he launched, i dodged, he followed it up with a second which i dodged again. he then followed up with a third, i cant dodge anymore. my health goes right down, i immediately hit heal, during which he launches a 4th round of rockets, i’ve not even been able to heal yet, i’m stillcasting, not that it matters because i would have not healed enough to survive a second hit straight away. how am i supposed to counter tactics liek this?
again today i go down to a champion lieutenant. as a thief i try and shadow step as far as i can. the lieutenant is rooted. yet she still hits me.
fair enough maybe i’m still in range, i shaowstep away again while still downed and she still hits me and she still hasnt moved and the same thing happens again!
i moved away 3 times as far as i could. i’m wel out of longbow range, party members who were trying to get me up were being taken down, and she hadnt moved once!
there is no way to combat that
also not unlimited spawns. it is unrewarding and so underwhelming.

So the solution is to make it even more of a grind? was “too much of a grind” not enough?

Story mode is super easy though… Idk how that’d drive them away… Hell idk how dungeons period will drive casuals away they’re not that time consuming, it’ll drive bad players who don’t want to get better away in boat loads though…
just ran a CM and they added more elite and champion mobs. i was being sniped from ridiculous distances. they made story mode a lot harder though, and i’m fairly experienced in dungeons. good luck to a group doing it for the first time with their lev 40 gear
problem with this is i liek to help new players with it.
i wouldnt of minded if they had capped the xp and silver gain, but to make it much harder on top of that is just dumb

Let me clarify the change a bit since not everyone understands it.
If you run the exact same chain twice in a row you will have your rewards cut. This means you can bounce back and forth between 2 different chains, even in the same dungeon without ever hitting this change. This change is made to encourage people to try different chains.
If you speed clear dungeons at a rate of more than 2/ hour, and continue to do that for some time your rewards will slowly begin to degrade. It doesn’t kick in after running a single dungeon and it doesn’t immediately zero out rewards.
Finally we reduced the value of repeating the story mode, because they are built to be easier and we want to encourage those repeating dungeons to run explore mode.
Except a load of crap got added to story mode and you’ve just eliminated any chance of experienced players helping new players.

As it stands you’ve turned people away from doing story mode so why the hell would they want to do explorable? Story was meant to entice people into the world of dungeon runs, not put them off.
And while you’re here, lets me say that infinity spawns is not a well thought out challenge for dungeons. it is not a rewarding experience to have to fight through things like that. Some of your dungeon design is clearly lacking and opting for the lazy “oh lets just chuck mobs at them” just highlights this.

I can understand farming explorable mode needed some change, but you literally get nothing out of story mode apart from crappy loot most of the time. the xp gains was something nice and same with the silver.
you could have put a cap on the silver if you were worried about inflation. you could have put a cap on xp if you so wished.
Instead you decided to do both and add in more elite, and champion mobs and gift them what seems like unlimited range? for story mode?
so now new players stand next to no chance of doing it, they will have no incentive to do it s the only reward is the progression in story and you’ve taken away any incentive for more experienced players to help them?
This is story mode we’re talking about after all. if you listen to all those people saying good job for diminished xp gains, these are the same people who got to 80 using those very mechanics.
