Vampiric precision and bloodthirst aren’t strong enough to be separate traits. They should be merged. Replace vampiric precision with renewing blast.

Reaper’s precision is bad. It will never compete with path of corruption or banshee’s wail. At 45% crit chance you’ll have a 15% chance to gain 1% life force on hit. This trait needs to be reworked entirely.

Our falling damage trait applies a self weaken due to casting corrosive poison cloud. This means if I’m trying to escape an unfavorable fight and end up taking a little bit of falling damage, my ability to fight off my pursuer is kitten because of this self weaken unless I blow a cleanse. Why does it even have to cast CPC? What’s the insistence for this? This is the ONLY self defeating falling damage trait in the game. Make it cast chillblains.

Blood magic still conflicts with DS. I feel like bloodthirst and vampiric precision should be merged. Vampiric precision should be replaced by renewing blast. How many other GM traits in the game have zero uptime without allies around like unholy martyr and deathly invigoration do?

Maybe swapping functionalities on Axe 1 and 2 will make it better? Make Axe 2 burst vuln application while Axe 1 gives a little life force on every hit.

Maybe they didn’t want Deathly Invigoration to be redundant with Unholy Sanctuary.

Either way, it’s a pretty boring GM trait.

We’re going to have to see how the utilities look after this. Having three GM traits and no stats to traits means the opportunity cost is different now when we’re considering putting points into blood magic or death magic.

So, I give these changes a “Hmm.” out of a “Wow!”

Condition got a huge potential buff with Dhuumfire stacking 3 burning on its own with no extra duration

Keep in mind that for every life blast you fire off you miss out on about 4 bleed stacks from scepter auto.

But its better than just popping off useless life blasts as a condi necro when you have to enter DS

Dhuumfire is exciting.

Blood magic still sucks. Much more conflicting with DS now since deathly invigoration heals when you enter so you receive no benefit from it.

I went to the Super Bowl this year (Patriots/Seahawks)!

The Seahawks were short two people, so they pulled me and another random person in from the stadium to play with them.

We did a great job, I had fun; but the other person didn’t. He didn’t know the plays, couldn’t hear the calls well, and couldn’t keep up with the others.

This analogy assumes we don’t do matchmaking when combining the 4 players with the 1. Since parties get a slight mmr bump, the solo players is often more skilled than the others. Yes, if those 4 are using voip or party chat, the solo will be left out of some planning, but there shouldn’t be a large skill discrepancy. This is the consequence of allowing any party size to queue, but in my opinion is far less of a problem than splitting up the community.

I know there’s some kind of mathematical justification for this… But the bottom line is that it’s just not fun.

Getting matched as a solo vs a premade is a problem at all MMRs. I’m pretty sure I’m not very high but this constantly happens to me both ways and it’s not fun.

I know this isn’t an easy job ANet, but this seriously needs to stop happening.

Do you guys think its more useful to go 44006 for power builds now? We get the fury on DS minor trait to band-aid the crit chance loss from no more Death Perception, lose Close to Death from power, but get short CD stability and stunbreaks.

And I think 06206 is easily the way to go now for terror builds. You only have to give up Greater Marks or Reaper’s Protection.

In GW1, life stealing wasn’t very useful either, people just liked it because it added a flat amount of damage to every hit.

So instead of looking at it as a form of healing, how well does it do as a source of damage? You’d need to find 3 points to put into blood, and get bloodthirst. I’ve been running 6/5/0/3/0 . I’m not too sure of its effectiveness, but its pretty fun to see so many numbers crammed together when you have wells and locust swarm going.

Dungeon token conversion at a rate

If I want dungeon armor or weapons, I have to run that dungeon. Over and over and over and over. It’s boring, restrictive, and it doesn’t fit with the “play the game any way you want” philosophy in my opinion.

So there should be a token conversion NPC or what have you. The problem is, this is easily exploitable, because one can just run another dungeon with a quicker route, convert them, and end up with more tokens than if they were just running the actual dungeon.

Fortunately the solution is simple. 4 (or any arbitrary even number) of any one token = 1 other token. So if I wanted a token conversion, I’d have to REALLY want it.

This ensures that I can branch out into other dungeons, experience more content, prevents being locked out of a dungeon because there aren’t any groups around at the moment, and when all is said and done still be able to get specific dungeon gear. Players can play dungeons without ending up with tokens they won’t have any need for. All time can be time well spent.

I did a handful of CoF runs. Not to get the armor, but to raise some money to get Khilbron’s set (which is inexplicably one of the only ways to get Rabid gear in PvE. Anet. Wink Wink). I plan on running other dungeon paths just to experience the content, but I have no intention of getting any of the armor. Which would inevitably leave me with a bunch of tokens lying around that would be horribly wasted if I just destroyed them. The current non-armor rewards for every token vendor are pretty niche.

Why don’t we add other generally useful items to the token vendors? They don’t have to be anything extremely special. Simple things like salvage kits, gathering tools, food, or a box filled with random crafting mats. Just something that would allow me to get a little something for tokens rather than tossing them.

I feel like the Necro was a victim of “we did too many changes at once without realizing how it affects a single aspect” syndrome. I just read about how the Vulnerability condition used to be flat armor shred, so it was nerfed to be a percent damage taken increase. The Axe, at the time, was too powerful when Vulnerability was armor shred, so it’s attack speed and damage was decreased. However, Vulnerability was already getting its own nerf. So really, the Necro got two nerfs in one.

Power build is a bit mediocre right now, but I still bring it out once in a while solely for the use of Lich form.

Whatever you decide to do, life blast use is very important. Might per life blast and piercing are very important. Utility choices are pretty weak for a power build so it really doesn’t matter what you put there as long as you use it well. You’ll need precision for your gear to make up for the fact that you won’t be 30 in curses, important because crits make the damage respectable enough. You’ll obviously need axe training for the cooldown reduction more than anything.

You can’t even craft Rabid gear, actually. I don’t even know how you’re supposed to get Rabid jewels.

I defend ANET for a lot of things but this, I cannot. Heh. Would really like some official statement on this.

AFAIK The order of whispers armor merchant sells this but only in rare form (another fail), and I just know that as soon as I drop the 8gs on it to buy the whole set they’ll make a patch that makes exotic Rabids more accessible. Sigh.

Not that many ways to get that stat distribution in exotic form. Not even craftable. Some karma vendors in Orr sell armor in those stats but at 42k (HAH) per piece. I really hope this is an oversight, because that’s just ridiculous.
