I like this for pvp with Conddmg/power/vit and Dwayna runes on armor and + power on kill sigil
Also feel free to change ulti/healing/some of signets for better personal utilization
Nice thread full of very good advices.
Use Runes of dwayna on armor (you keep regeneration) and leave natures bounty. Instead of it I get oakheart salve from wildernes survival to counter dmg conditions on me while not using healing spring with heal as one.
I use 0/0/30(V,VIII,XII)/20(VI,X)/20(I,VII); Enlargement + bark skin is pretty awesome combo since it boost your pet dmg and increase your and YOUR PETS Effective Hit Points by solid 7.5%

I use PUMA with lynx swapping them on CD and I am supporting conditions with my Short bow(power on kill) – Short bow(just because life steal on swap)/swordhorn
And I play this build in sPVP

Well GW2 is maybe not perfect and is not for everybody but how can anybody say its worse than vanila WOW at the beginning??? As I remember the release and few months after release It was full of Bugs/exploits, fights was mostly static and the world was 1/10 as interresting as it is in GW2 (well there were least botters in WOW)…
A-net made superawesome world with thousands of encounters that every solid even casual player can experience. WOW encounters was permanent dps/hps/gear check mostly static and only no lifers can see the full content of end game dungeons. PVP in Vanilla? You remember Maydie with grandmarshal two hander with top EQ? It was perfectly unballanced… it maybe had its magic but not when you got one-shotted…
OFC there is a lot of things to work on in GW2 but it is a good game. Give it a time (I did the same with Diablo3 it was total trash after launch with brick walls in content with no rewards but today I like D3 it gets some improvements some new content and now it seems a lot more rewarding than it was)

I Had only aroun 3k hours played in GW but IMHO:
World In GW2 is Excelent I love the graphics the events the stories the dungeons… PVE content is supreme and I am really enjoying it. And for me PVE is better in GW2.
But I am mainly PVP player and PVP in current state is extremely boring. Only few capture maps? Thats all? I asked. They promise to make great PVP → to be an E-sport. But its not gonna happen. Its boring to play. Its boring to watch. Only thing you have to do is better build and avoid the circle with simple team tactics (bunker classes + rest running asap from point to point). PVP in GW1 was about every single team member. Single mistake should turn over the match. Now you have 2 oh kitten dodges + downed state. Its very casual friendly at least. And thats why GW1 is TOP PVP game for me (Aight win HON together).

Yeah killed Jormag yesterday and it dropped 6 blues and green armor upgrade LOL!
Even the meshes are pretty broken right now, it is still my N.1 because its fun. I like my supporting build with heavy condition dmg and I love my surviveability. I am the last man standing in most cases. I am always the first rezzing up dead allys. I can solo keep aggro on boss during partywipe before they come back from waypoint. And in pvp I can own 1v2,2v3 and sometimes 1v3 battles. Maybe mesmers dont have the burst like warrs or thieves, we cant bunker tank like guardians and we are not fast as elles, but we can mindfack the whole universe. And thats the right pleasure for me.
I dont know if I am competent enough to judge but I tried both classes in sPVP.
Warrior excels in direct healing but he lacks defensive boons.
Guardian has IMHO less direct healing but his defensive boons compensate it.
I am actually lvling a guardian and my close friend Warrior as alts and we both have no problems while leveling and in instances we both brings a lot to groups.
Anyway I think that guardian needs better timing and is harder to play but warrior better in solo play and has higher HP pool and also dmg.
But both classes are very powerfull when specced right with good traits (for warrior I prefer shouthealing and with guardian perma regen aura with altruistic healing).
Also for Wv3 warriors has more Oh kitten buttons than guardian and can better run out of zerg.
But maybe I am not right…
Vitality for warrior is total waste since High base HP pool.
20k health with some toughness is enough.
Specialy for fractals agony dmg – agony makes x% from HP damage, so healing became less eficient for warrs with high HP pool.
dont waste your golds for vit you prolly won’t be happy…

it’s definitly not mandatory for this build. since your main source of dmg is AA with vulnearibility stacks > this benefit is for your team
From Forceful GS benefits only you and very slightly since this is not Zerker full DPS. and 20 perc reduction CD wont increase your dmg better than ‘Stick and move’ and ‘slashing power’ traits also you will loose 10% condition duration which is great for vulnearibility. Extra precision is nice but since this build has no % crit dmg its lesser dmg increase than extra power.

you should try this build it isnt pure support/ tank but its good allrounder superefficient in dungeons or in parties
all shouts heals + your healing heals a bit too thanks to armor runes
you have awesome dmg with twohander (big part of your dps is from vulnearibility and might stacks)
you still have pretty nice dmg

This is not the ultimate tanker, neither support, neither DPS. BUT its solid allrounder that is super efficient in every group. You are doing dmg mainly thru vulnearibility stacks (a lot of em). you can cleanse 1 condition from party and all conditions from yourself. You are healing with all shouts and with your healing skill too. you have an oh kitten button in your banner. you are stacking high amount of might. you are still very strong and your dmg output is supreme.
yes but sry its not efficient because there isnt pure healing class and tank that will mitigate 90 perc of dmg

It seems like you didnt read what I wrote… you CANT heal same numbers as you deal in dmg!!! WHY ? because everybody can use AOE HOTs. AND? If it will put out same numbers heals will be TOTALY OP! god what a stupid ideas!
If you play guardian go for 30 trait that grants passive HOT over all party members you can heal for 150 every sec to 5 ppl its 15000 heal over 20 sec to group without healing power and thats freakin lot so please stop this no efficient healing… you just have to find most efficient way…
Look at warrior shout healer… 15000 heal every 25 sec to group without healing power!
Its 6000 heal for single party member passive gain! + self heal
both of those healers just need to use 30 trait points and single master trait… AND i believe that every class is able to do party heals…

@JackAngelfoot – well I didnt read all your walls of text but I read first paragraph of each your comment and you are prolly bad mesmer and most of your ideas are bullkittens
go play Staff crit condition mesmer with decoy blink arcane thievery and mass invisibility – 10,25,15,0,20 and you cant loose in 1v1
asura because of TA armor set – you will look like nightmare with right colours
You cant beat mesmer 1v1 with warrior I have my main as mesh and prolly never lost to one because they are easiest class to predict and to dodge… most times when I am 1v1 vs warriors I end up with full HP… But I play different build than other mesmers, maybe there is chance to kill glassy canoons but once they use staff just run away because you dont have any chances!
Mesmers are pretty awesome in both PVP and PVE…
You just have to find your way thru first 30 lvls then you will start to shine.
If you go DPS way you will do pretty numbers in very fast sequence but you wont see as high Crits as elles or thieves can do.
If you go Condition/support you wil be perfect for dungen crawling with friends since you can stack 10+ bleeds perma and a lot of confusion with your Combo fields (I play an assura using staff – chaos storm, null field, feedback, radiation field, Time Warp= almost perma poison and tens of confusions).
Mesmers are pretty awesome I think that my contribution to party in dungeon is enormous I am focusing on fallen ally reviving because I Still do pretty awesome dmg with clones and illusions.

I played PVE in guild wars 1 only once with single char and… nevermore I didnt liked it same as WOW, Rift…! I played those games for PVP part and it was awesome…
Here everything changes I like to play PVE. I like dungeons. Its more chalenging and fun than it was with holy trinity… The only thing I remember was perma spam of few spells rotation and do as much DPS/heal/aggro as I can.
Now its more dynamic and more skill based. (well if you have full exo lvl80 with legendary weapon and you go to lower instances Its normal that you kitten everything there but if you did lvl 70 in wow and you went to Wailing Coverns (lvl20 instance) you kitten everything even harder).
Well if you dont think that guild wars 2 Is better play the older version. You are guys minority. No one will probably cares because you are attacking main core of this game…
I played the whole game with my 2 mates and we were completing the maps together and it was a bit faster than solo clear and we were able to kill all the bosses we met…
There is no need to scale Hearts! And absolutely no need to let you guildies complete the quests for you! its bad idea because Chinesse will fastlevel…
well if you want to go pure DPS build you will suck because you will be permanently lying on ground and rest of your group will have to take care of you…
but if you go semi DPS/bit of healing to group you contribution to party will be rapidly increased!
I actually play in guild with my friends from RL- so we sit one night together and we told each other what do everybody wants to play and then we started to theorycraft and improving our builds… now we have guardian and warrior both are semi DPS/support and they can heal together for 6500HP every 25 sec + everybody can use own heal → 12k heal min every 25 sec!
Its enough if there will be pure healing class and you play it your team will suffer! This is the point of this game and this is the reason you should go play WOW or GW1…
You simply cant heal the whole team and its fine because if everybody from party heals for a bit its more effective and its better fun because you just dont have to only heal!!! Do you remember how painful is Looking for Tank/Healer in old system? YEAH I can form a party within a minute because we dont need the pure healer or tank to complete dungeon!
Comparision between healing skills and DPS skills is totaly kitten But still if you play guardian or warrior with full healing EQ you should heal for nice numbers but you still have to do some dmg or you will be useless for team. Get over it! This game is TOTALY different you have to play like single player game but you still have to support your team.
Rly why dont all people who complain about the healing class go back to play WOW pandas? I like this system its many times better that holy trinity since I have to do more things than just DPS or MT healer or MT! I play offensive support/condition mesmer. See? I do more then just DPS. And? Its better! Try it! Its fun to be more than just single role in party!

Actually I am at work so I cant film it myself but there is Warrior! who can kill group event champ and this one seems pretty easy to kill and is for sure in lower lvl Area. There are some that could be soloed In 70-80 areas too…

If you have problems to kill thrash there are some tips of the day:
Do you know that you have 70 trait points to spend in your trait tree? (something like talent tree)
Do you know that Glass canon’s are really weak? Try to stack some +vit or + toughness.
Do you know that you can dodge attacks with using your movement keys twice?
Do you know that Armor for LVL20 is too low for LVL 70-80 area? (suggestion: buy crafted LVL 80yellows)
Do you know that LVL 60 is too low for lvl 70-80 areas?

well use quickness + sharpening stones + short bow + pet (cat) with 2x bleed spells
you can try it in PVP on heavy golems (Actually maxing cond dmg+vit+power; on weapon have + 10 percent bleed duration and on armor +30 perc bleed duration)
its pretty kitten but you have to stand behind target.

OMG Holy trinity is Totaly BAD!
I have to write it there again:
Healer – /smash big heal on MT – not fun
Tank – /smash aggro gain whenever possible – not fun
DPS – /smash big hitter try to overaggro Tank so you can tell him he sux – its better but still not fun.
All just stand still, watch numbers and if the whole party have no Real life so they have top items they can faceroll everything… fantastic fun.
Go play pandas stupid freaks.
Please do not listen to those players… I play Mesmer in PVE and it is just too easy!
How is it possible that i should solo kill group event boss?
I can freely move around whole map I was able to komplete whole map without killing any monsters while traveling.

well 2 suggestions
1) go play anything else because this system is maybe not perfect but awesome
2) get used to it and find a guild and make team builds together. Since its MMORPG its better to play with friends -> you can find friends in every corner. If you have problem with finding new friends go replay RL

Whats funny on using /aggrogain and than standing still waiting for big heals?
Whats funny on doing DPS when you just have to stand and smash /bighitter when theree is almost no real threat while MT and Healers are alive?

I can stack 25 bleeds with ranger in 4 seconds then constantly keep up to 18 bleed stacks solo btw.

My suggestion is about Mesmers mantra style utility and healing skill’s.
Why?
Mantras are well ballanced in short battles but useless(there are other skills that can do the same work better) in prolonged fights (vs boss/ long PVP fight).
Most players thinks that this is good idea and it wont be balancing issue.
Its 4 seconds long casting time is too long. (= comparable to 4 sec long daze but self casted). So its pretty borring for most players.
How to improve it?
Create an internal automatic recharge for each mantra every x seconds (x= balanced time)
Lets say maximum amount of charges on mantra of pain is 2(3 traited) and you will get 1 charge every 10 seconds. Now our initial burst at the start of the battle remain same as in actual solution. But we wont have to recast mantra again so we will continue in our DPS/supporting.
Traits have to be improved!
Awesome changes for staff:
now we have 2x 35sec cd
1x 20 sec
1x 8 sec
and plenty of time for Autoattack because other weapon sets are useless for condition DMG build (Focus is fine for swiftness to off hand but for main hand?)
Solution → give us main hand pistol
I dont think it would be overpowered because whe you are playing glass canoon like this you will never survive longer than 20 sec… specialy in PVP. If you live long enough you will get only 1 charge/period of time so you will have more sustained dps but less spike dmg. But still at the start of the battle your spike will be same. you will only notice change in longer battles, when you dont have to recast 4 neverending seconds to use it.
I think this solution is more fluent and player friendly and not so boring. I hate the moments when I have 4 sec disable because I have bleeds/poison/weaknes + already used mantra so + 4 sec disable… I will be happier if i get only 1 condition removal than this

I think that the second ability is totaly awesome… Why do you hate it so much? the teleport we had in BWE was a lot worse cause we had only a little chance to teleport far enough to dont get killed… now we have invisible and if you dont break it the stomp will fail… and whats better when you use it your illusion wil reappear first so you have even more time! Look at mage’s they have totaly useless downed state… but we are fine

I can tell you that everybody that say “mesmers are not efficient” “mesmers cant” or “mesmers dont”… They lie. If you play your mesmer with love with prediction, if you can outsmart opponents in PVP, if you can catch the oppoturnities… mesmers are awesome in every situation and in every group.
I personally prefer staff condition and offensive support… and its totaly awesome most times in dungeons I am the stone brick of the party I do the black job while my clones/ phantasms are doing sustain dmg while I am ressing / party buffing.
Just try it…
Well even if you handle mantra play style perfectly you will be still less efficient than any other builds. And when you come to boss fight you will be less efficient than any other playable char. If you get into prolonged PVP fight you will loose due to 2-3 mantras uselessly occupying your 2-3 utility skills…
Thats why mantras should have some recharge CD without 4 second long cast… It will be more fun… mantras will be great in short fights and still be pretty usefull in long figts. Even if you get 1 charge per 20 sec > 4 sec cast and 20/30 sec CD.
Try Elementalist or Engi those two are pretty Hard to play well but still very rewarding.
But Mesmers are simply the best (only Mantras are totaly useless if you dont play healing support)
I tried to make a good mantra build… but every time I failed because there are more usefull and less boring utilities and healing skills that just fit better into the current gamestyle.
I dont know hoe many people are playing mantras but they are waste of time / cd / utility skill slot for everybody since 4 sec cast time and you have to recast those mantras after fight or whats worse in the middlde of fight
Mantras are ALWAYS dps waste in fights longer than 15 secs. and even in shorter fight everybody will miss blink/decoy + feedback/nullfield
What about making mantras as stacking spell?
lets say:
you get 1 charge every 20/30/40 sec while in combat
you replenish all charges after 5 sec while out of combat
If there is already this Idea sorry for Copy/ignore me.

Really why did you put so much effort and mandays into something thats totaly redundant for the game?! I’m very pleased with your job except this!
*Why do you need to compensate players with DR? (instead of focusing to real exploits, bugs and unintended instance completitions)
*Why dont your QA team take more time to Test the new updates better? (If you need help with testing you may have it. Just ask and I should be your employee.)
Now it seems like more non cheating/exploit using players are badly influenced by this (forgive me but) “stupid” decision!

Explorable mode dungeon 2nd run – 3rd route: 30 tokens
Explorable mode dungeon 2nd run – 1st route: 30 tokens
Explorable mode dungeon 3rd run – 3rd route: 20 tokens
Explorable mode dungeon 4th run – 3rd route: 15 tokens
Explorable mode dungeon 5th run – 3rd route: 10 tokens
Explorable mode dungeon 2nd run – 2nd route: 30 tokens
- keep the bottom limit at 15 or 10 tokens
I dont know how fast can pros do the whole dungeon, but I dont believe that it is faster than 15 mins. So it can keep well-coordinated players on 40-60 tokens/hour gain… you need how much? Around 15 hundred tokens for complete set 1500/50=30 hours if you are freakin fast (or if you can handle to complete set it in 2 weeks) 8×30=240 hours for all dungeon sets isnt it enough (well it should be much lesser if you do 3 routes of each dungeon/day but prolly you won’t do it faster)?
- dont compensate well-coordinated players
- prefer bug fixing/balancing dungeons before stupid solutions to non-existing problems (actually dungeons are pretty easy as more players learnt to play and what to do.)
