And if you had to fight a boss that is resistant to bleeding, would you also refuse to change your bleeding build FOR THAT FIGHT and use some more direct damage?
If you were to fight a boss that has to be poisoned to deal him damage, and you COULD bring much more poison by simply changing major traits and utils, would you refuse to do so because ‘this is my build and i won’t change it’, even if it kittens everyone?

Unidentified Yellow Dye (Rare) Bug!

Unid X Dye (Rare) has a CHANCE to yield a rare dye of respective colour, as it has a chance to yield an uncommon or a common one. Even the description says outright:
“Double-click to identify a Common, Uncommon or Rare Dye from the Yellow spectrum”.

It is not a bug – it is designed that way, and while i, amongst others, believe it’s a very bad design, it’s currently working properly.

Your friends are on a different server and you can’t enter?
You can’t enter a dungeon cross-database – aka, you can enter with friends from EU servers if you yourself are on EU one, but you can’t have anyone from NA in your pt.

Don’t skip oozes. Don’t rush into the 2nd-scepter-triggering room before all oozes are dead. Don’t rush if Hodgins has any aggro. Enter only with your whole party.

Doing any of the above is known to SOMETIMES cause him to lock out and don’t progress. The very same goes about other AC NPCs.

Never seen CoF’s chain to bug – just reset often because people ignore the defense event and then it takes a while to complete, because you start with the gal blowing up torches, then have to go through quite a bit, Razen takes his time to appear etc. Never bugged, though.
And Arah has been surprisingly fine lately on Gunnar’s Hold.

Free tip: you can change your utility skills AND major traits any time.
If you’re built for summons, please change your build before fighting Alpha, change it back after the fight if you want – and that’s it. This mechanic has been introduced to use it when it’s needed or helpful, you know – and Alpha fights are one of those examples.

CoE is one of the best and most fun dungeons out there, except for the VERY kitten-design destroyer boss, being, on the contrary, the worst designed fight in the game.

If you don’t like CoE because you’re dying every time you get encapsulated in a crystal or because Alpha wipes your team or because you weren’t lucky with the chests… practice, bloody practice.

Seriously guys, try Arah explorable with MF – or any glass build – and then we’ll talk. I assume that you’ve done all other routes of all other exp dungeons if you’re talking about ‘that one place i will be less effective’…

But i think the main problem lies in different approaches to having fun in dungeons, as it then goes to different expectations from the teams.
Some people find fun in completing dungeons, aka having successful runs with a decent team, with everyone bringing to the table everything they can – and it’s fine if some of them can bring less, but they put in everything they have. Then there are people who find enough fun in just playing a dungeon, and they also seem to enjoy – or at least don’t mind – wiping or doing something 20 minutes longer for no real reason.

That second attitude gets changed into the first one quite often when a person has played through enough dungeons to know how they work, what is worth using and is considering their in-game time more valuable than when everything was new and fresh. It’s not really about min/maxing everything – it’s about not willing to waste your time for something that can be done faster, easier or with better results, especially once ‘casual and usual’ runs aren’t fun anymore after having done AC for the 300th time.

This is where people consciously kittening the party effectiveness have no place – although the first few dungeon runs are exciting and challenging enough regardless of gear, team composition or anything like that.

Bringing MF into an SE2 run is like bringing 4 necros to AC3, although you could relog onto a different profession – fully geared, prepared and so on – but you insist on bringing the necro regardless of the fact that it makes the whole run much harder and slower, possibly even impossible at the burrows.

It happens usually when you skip the oozes or if you rush too far inside while still fighting the oozes. It may also happen if an NPC is still aggroed on another monster (troll, gravelings downstairs) and you run in.

Kill everything, wait a while until NPC gets aggro off, and then proceed together – no problems at all.

If you are undergeared, you probably are still earning gold/tokens to gear up; eventually everyone wants to wear exotics, especially that they’re quite easy to get.

If you are running MF set in a dungeon, you are consciously, by choice, sacrificing not only the major stat on your gear, but also give up all defensive stats (no tough/vit along with MF), running not only a glass build, but even one not dealing considerable damage.

You’re consciously, by your own choice, kittening yourself in terms of raw effectiveness, influencing the team. You are rude as hell, putting your own greed and possible personal gain over your party members.
If you’re running a suboptimal build or using a suboptimal weapon set for your profession, another party member may tell you ‘hey, you should try running X instead of Y, you’ll see you’ll do better in dungeons’. Thing is, if you’re running something suboptimal and it’s not MF, you’re probably doing it unknowingly, whereas using MF shows your independent choice.

For a very long time in my forum crusades i haven’t met a person with such moot, silly and ignorant arguments as Kashien. Wishful thinking about your stats and outright ignoring everything everyone else says won’t justify your poor choice of gear for end-game PvE.

CoE3’s boss, the destroyer, is just a sign of a very bad design – the dps window is very, very short, and just keeping 3 people up to man the lasers while 2 people stay down and hit the boss every so often is plain dull. It’s not a hard fight, but extremely boring and long because of the mechanic. I’m sure it looked much better on paper, during the design phase, but it’s not enjoyable OR demanding at all, making it probably the worst boss fight throughout all dungeons.
Other than that, CoE is indeed awesome – ATTENTION!

I recently salvaged my 175%-MF gear on my main, that’s how bad it is if you don’t farm mobs in open-world PvE.
If you do, however, go MF all the way. Otherwise just don’t; even the MF food is a waste of stats.

I had the very exact same issue, the very exact same hint to complete as last – the ranger pet swap – and went to do it in the mists as well. The only difference is that i’m stuck at 81/82 now, with everything ticked off…

If you had a guild dedicated to AC, and ONLY AC, then you wouldn’t need to represent it at all – you’d still see who’s online and who you can whisper for AC runs. It would serve as an extended friendlist, with people openly interested in farming/completing a given dungeon. But it would have to be one dungeon per guild organism, with people leaving that guild once they’ve lost interest in running the dedicated dungeon.

All AC explorable routes are completely doable in a party of lv35 toons, geared in green lv35 items.

I have yet to try other dungeons with a bare minimum team, but i can’t see CM or TA being more demanding, and SE is currently waiting for a fix which will make it only easier.

Stop running glass cannon or magic find spec, ignore the traitline giving you power and generally invest in survivability before you deem anything ‘too hard’.

I am still against introducing any ‘stat counters’, as they can’t and won’t reflect the effectiveness of one’s character; i am also against previewing others, although on the other hand it would also help with checking out others’ item skins, making it much easier to get the thing we want.
But i’m strictly against bringing MF into dungeons and that’s why i never pug or take unknown, non-guild people into dungeons – and when i do and i notice they get downed more often than i personally deem acceptable, i outright ask them to ping their gear. Still, i prefer not to pug at all, mainly because of all the glass builds out there – cannons or MF leechs.

Try to run a power/toughness/vitality gear in dungeons, or really anything tanky rather than pure glass cannon or MF, and you will see real difference. A single distraction won’t get you downed; a single small error on your end won’t wipe the team if you’re properly geared. You will kill the boss faster without any downtimes, making tanky builds stronger in the long fights than glass cannon berserker specs.

You do have to be reactive even when tanky, but there are three options when you run MF gear, and all of them are inferior to other options:

  • you are punished much harder and more often for your errors, resulting in much more downtime than you would have if you ran more vit/tough stuff;
  • IF you are good enough to really dodge out of every hit and stay alive, you are wasting your dps potential for MF, simply dealing much less damage – if you go glass build, go one that deals as much dmg as possible, if you really can pull it off, and not one that just feeds your personal greed;
  • IF you’re running a glass build, you are probably using defensive utility skills (the war’s stance, mist form, etc), effectively lowering your damage, control and/or party-wide support potential – because you make up for the losses in defensive stats.

On top of that, keep in mind that MF does NOT affect loot from chests and there aren’t that many enemies to kill in dungeons – SE1 before the patches held the record with a whoopin’ total of 9~14 enemies to kill throughout the whole dungeon. Also a lot of enemies in dungeons have empty loot tables, like graveling hatchlings in AC or any other potentially infinitely spawning monsters, to prevent any abuses.

MF is simply not worth it, especially once we’ve got a dev confirmation it does not affect chests. It’s fine when farming Orr, might bring more rare drops per hour, yet it’s not only offensive towards your team to bring it into explorable dungeons but simply not worth it even for you, burning your own time as well.

Grenade engi and staff eles have the best object-damage atm. Warriors are doing fine, guardians too – with gs and axes. Other than that, eles in your pt should pop you some summoned weapons.
Necros are absolutely terrible against burrows. Rangers can use gs, but still are so-so.

Tip: power build.

I’m afraid ANet believes people can read and doublecheck such basic things like armor type before purchasing items.
Also, if it took you 12h to get boots, find a proper guild and don’t run with pugs – TA is one of the easiest dungeons, except for the Leurent fight.

We copied the patterns from the stone face onto the ground, removed the extra tears away, but nothing happened. Again.
By the two torches already lit on the left side, i assume someone was there before us and messed something up – did something that bugged out the whole dungeon. No idea how it can be broken, intentionally or not, though.

As noted in every ‘what gear for ele thread’, power/toughness/vitality from AC/SE/HotW dungeon tokens is all you need on armor and weapons, then either beryl, sapphire or emerald jewelry, the last one is least useful though, imho, because of +prec.
You still get power in the main slot = 3k attack.

Nope, and dmg-reduction or invulnerability skills don’t work with falling damage, aka Armor of Earth, Mist Form or Obsidian Flesh won’t save you from falling.

The only problem with HotW bosses is that they have even more hp than usual, making the fights much too long ‘yawn’. On top of that, you can facetank most of them with an enough tanky build.

All AC paths’ NPCs randomly bug out at triggered events – when they should say or do something, they simply don’t; instead, they keep following the players.
It’s been happening for about a week now, but only occassionally. Examples from my experience:

  • Hodgins before opening the door to the 2nd scepter pieces won’t trigger the dialogue and won’t open the door;
  • Detha won’t talk to the Ascalonian ghost in the Ghost Eater chamber, or the ghost will never pop;
  • the asura dude won’t trigger the ectoplasm collectors.

There’s a not-always-working fix to it. NPC in dungeons always follow one player at any given time – find who is followed and ask that player to leave the dungeon for a while, then come back.

Skip what’s skippable. Kill what you have to in order to progress in the dungeon’s ‘story’ and what you have to kill to advance, as some chunks are very hard or outright impossible to skip – or just really, really unsafe.
There’s no need, incentive or even fun in clearing a dungeon of ALL its mobs.

SE1 and SE2 are getting fixed soon.
In the meantime, remember you can get 60 tokens a day per character, not account. Finding and joining a guild helps, too – i had daily SE runs before the ‘update’ that broke two paths, now we’re waiting for them to be fixed to venture there again.

@Genev – sorry, but it’s Syndic who started any ex-GH 2 GH innuendos in this thread. Again, the CIR guys are looking for drama anywhere possible, as you had with KISS back in the day.
On one hand, it’s quite fun seeing how CIR people play the server and W3 primadonnas unless people just nod and agree with them, on the other – it’s becoming more and more tiring. Tire out, people, and start enjoying the game the way you want it, the way you went so far to enjoy as to switch servers and build all upgrades from scratch, and stop forum fighting everywhere you can, please.

Actually major Arcana traits are awesome once you have ditched the mindset of ‘i am a nuker! ele means nuker!’, which is very wrong in GW2.
We’re ranged controllers and supporters with enough sustainable and AoE damage to keep it at a viable level, but we’re not the primary damage dealers. Once you have dealt with it, you will appreciate the power of Arcana and Water traits.
