+1 this. This is amazing content to have after april.
I admit that at first I thought “Really? this is what they’re wasting time on?”
Then I tried it and it really is quite fun
I really don’t see the problem with it as I have a feeling the team responsible for this aren’t the ones responsible for world balance and whatnot anyway…..
I’ve been on the fence about this for a while, but with some recent upgrades to my rig I’m really leaning towards finally getting an SSD and probably new HDD.
Currently i’ve got a 1.5TB HDD only spinning @ 5200 rpm.
Will installing guild wars on say a 3 or 6 GB/s SSD improve my guild wars load scren times? Right now they’re not TOO bad. Lions Arch loads in about 20-30 secs. (previously a minute or minute 30 before defrag), but still looking for something a bit faster.
Suggestions?
No you guys don’t understand, its not his pc its the servers. I’m having the same problem as you Yata, I haven’t been able to play for 2 weeks now. I used to play and my fps was 50-60 all of a sudden it dropped and its been like that ever since. I’m pretty sure there’s an issue with their servers.
server problems can affect connectivity (disconnects, lags, etc.), but they’re never have anything to do with performance itself. let alone such sudden framedrops.
since i’m lurking around the “Tech Support” forums, such issues were always caused by overheating-throttle, other programs interfering with GW2, bad PC-optimization, the use of CPU-integrated graphics or broken GPU’s.
This. I mean a couple of days ago I was having fps drops to 15-20 with my AMD 7950. The problem was mostly likely that I was Overclocked. I reset to stock clocks and it’s been smooth sailing since. People are saying these kinds of drops are usually due to the game’s engine optimization, but heck, I unno :/
Like wauwi said, check your GPU temp and for dust. But also just as important, check your CPU temp and for dust. Especially if you have an intel chip which automates your multiplier (a la speed step or other such nonsense).
If you’re overclocking anything, try reverting to stock clocks.
a while back I had dust built up in my CPU’s heatsink. I was taking huge performance hits out of nowhere because my CPU was automatically underclocking itself to try to cope with the extra heat. And seeing as this is a rather cu intensive game, I’d make it a point to check that.
are any of you overclocking your GPU by any chance? that was the problem for me. After I set it to stock things are smooth again
Will a defrag actually help with loading speeds? Cause places like Lions arch always take upwards of a minute to load for me with a fast internet connection
Actually here’s a quick update,
it may have had to do with my GPU overclocking as well. Prior to turning off the virtualization, I had my gpu overclocked to about 1020 mhz, I decided to put the stock clocks back before a ran without virtualization on. This may have had something to do with it as well. I’m currently testing with both virtualization off and overclocked to see if the same issue occurs
For reference, here’s a picture of the problem I was having before, albiet, usage is a bit higher than 50-60 beforehand

get your grains of salt ready…… I seem to have stabilized my FPS dro kitten ue.
First off, here are my specs
Intel Q9550 Core 2 Quad OC’d @ 4 ghz
MSI Radeon 7950
8 gb ram
So since at least the last major update, I’ve been suffering common fps dro kitten ues. I mean the game would start off fine, then after about 5-10 minutes of playing the screen would briefly freeze, then continue-but at the loss of about 30 fps. This also includes my GPU usage jumping from 50-60% to a constant 99%.
Having tried nearly everything in forums and on the web, I decided to take it to BIOS.
I turned off Intel Virtualization Tech, and lo and behold, I managed to keep 65-90 fps with regular gpu usage for the 2 hours I had Gw2 running.
I have no Idea if maybe it was something else, because I really don’t get how Intel Virtualization would affect guild wars in any way, but for the moment, it seems to have worked for me…..anyone have a better explanation?
Not sure if this was suggested before….but I think that a lot of people may benefit from having an option that automatically scales the games graphics down once frame rates drop below a specified number.
I think having that kind of option available would be a great help in WvW or Large scale events, to get a little bump in performance. I know (at least before I updated my graphics card) I often suffered single digit fps numbers in these kinds of scenarios….and even though I rarely drop below 40 or so now, I think it’d still be a great feature.
(I believe TERA has a feature like this)
So I’ve also been experiencing drastic framerate drops…..
I’ll be playing for about 5-10 minutes or so around 80-90 fps, then the game will freeze for 5 seconds, then max out around 20 fps or so. GPU usage also spikes up to 100%
Here are my specs
Intel q9950 @ 3.8 ghz
MSI Radeon HD 7950 @ 1015 mhz
8gb ram
and this is only since the last update btw
Okay i’m going to say this. /gangnamstyle
no, I’m not a huge fan of the song….but I can’t even imagine how much fun a sync dance with a large amount of people doing it would be :l
All my characters are based on the name “Shanjo” which I’ve been using in MMO’s since forever and forgot the origin.
Other characters:
Shanual Le Weiss : my elementalist. “Ual” meaning holy in elivish I think, and “Weiss” meaning “White” in german (took this from a game called Nier). Le…..The?
Shan Valshan: Les Miserables :P (Jean Valjean)
oh wait I remember now, I was forced to take the name “Shanjol” because “Shanjo” was taken in this game…….I will find you…….
Not that I think having this system is a bad Idea (in theory), but my only complaint would be that in a game called “Guild Wars” you would expect to have a guild that you can (or should) be loyal to. Ya it’s not an obligation, but then why join a guild in the first place? Actually I think this also comes down to the issue of guilds not having enough importance in this game in the first place. Again, very Ironic for a game called “Guild Wars.”
Seems more like “Group Wars” to me :/
Where should ANet place houses to keep locations clean? Queensdale?
I would imagine them having each races housing in their respective City. Humans in Queensdale and etc..
So I’m kinda curious as to why the pact battleaxe is the only pact weapon that’s soulbound on acquire…is it meant for a specific purpose?
This is such a good idea, that I kinda doubt that they haven’t thought of something along these lines already for the future. Though of course I could be wrong, in which case I hope this idea goes in the suggestions board as well :/
ya it “seems” the same…..well they didn’t say anything about actual firing speed or animation speed….just the speed which the arrows that are fired travel…..although I would have thought 1+1 would equal 2 in that regard…
Let us Dye pet fur/skin. Then we’ll see about feeling any emotional attachment.
Wow I feel really stupid. I made a topic about the same thing without seeing this one xD
so yes. I agree that Guild halls are a definite must for Guild wars (and glad to hear they’re confirmed)
IMO they’ll help exponentially with increasing guild activity in general.
I’d LIKE to have them accessible from the guild window, but if not w/e
Also down for GVG.
can I stop the game from saving settings between dif clients?

ya I was thinking it would be something along those lines as well, in which case I can’t imagine it would be hard to implement an option to disable the feature

So I wanted to post this in the mac forum, but i get the feeling it doesn’t only happen with the mac client..
I play gw2 at home on my PC much differently than I play on my Mac. The Primary reason is because my mac has a magic mouse, the other reason is my mac keyboard is a little funky.
What I find happens though is that any keybinding i have on my pc rig will undoubtedly transfer over to my mac client as well, and vice versa.
Is there anyway to stop this from occurring? I mean thank god the same isn’t true for graphics settings because changing those (like i have to my bindings) every time i switch would be a nightmare.
This may be the same issue actually….
Whenever I start the launcher it does the same thing. However It DOES eventually load up after about a minute and a half or 2 minutes. how long have you guys waited before closing the launcher?
