Gandara
(edited by eremos.8142)
Last night on either the AM or FS borderlands, I forget which, a group of 5 or 6 of us were trying to take the NW camp but found a few AM players guarding it.
Was hard fighting, and each time we killed a few, others would arrive to take their place, until we finally got overwhelmed and killed. Had so much fun though, picking targets, avoiding damage, dancing around the NPCs that were respawning so we could focus on the players … and laughing in resignation when we were capping only to see more enemies rush in!
If you were there, thank you.

It’s monday, winter is coming.
Bring it. We live in the Far Shiverpeaks, a little cold doesn’t scare us.

Threads get shut down when accusations of hacking/cheating start getting thrown around. Please take a screenshot when this happens and send it to a guild officer/leader on FSP so we can get to the truth and take action. Maloki, who has posted in this thread, is a leader of DW and a good candidate for that.
In the meantime, let’s not judge an entire server based on the actions of a few, and let’s keep the thread friendly.

We seem to have found a tier to call home and have pretty fun matchups here. It’s a little bit one-sided though, so I hope things balance out a bit more over time and we get to face off against a more diverse group of servers and strategies.
Well done to everyone on FSP who brought the server back from the brink. As you’ll see from our history it’s been a rather wild ride!
… but loot rolls are binary. Based on how much damage you do you get loot or you don’t. It doesn’t give better loot to those who do more damage.
Not true at all…..ive soloed the champ boar, wasp queen and troll several times and received no loot at all.
True. I meant to say you either get a loot roll or you don’t. Loot rolls can still result in no loot.
I don’t know what’s up with the champion thing and this thread isn’t about that, but all indications are that the amount of damage you do has no impact on the loot roll.

Yes please. I play GW2 to relax, the combat music stresses me out so much, if it persists for more than 30 seconds I have to relog.
Hope this is the right section as it’s half lore, half PvE.
One of my concerns going into GW2 was that the removal of quests would make communicating lore to players a lot more difficult. I try to speak to event/heart NPCs whenever possible, but so far, this does indeed seem to be the case. Most of the dialogue is fairly specific to a region and doesn’t really tell much of a greater story. With that said, I think ANet may be in an amazing opportunity to deliver lore on an on-going basis, rather than having the big lore dumps that traditional quests provide.
As an example, the Fields of Ruin is my very favourite area thus far from a lore point of view. The way you could actually walk up to NPCs and speak to them about the pending peace treaty between humans and charr in Ascalon was amazing and really made you feel like you were present at a particular moment in time. On the other hand, I think if I go back to that area in a couple of years, it’ll be a little jarring if nothing has changed.
Traditional quests would usually mean that the relevant part of the world has to stay the same until the end of time. New quests could be added, but the story-telling opportunities are limited (they would have to be part of the same chain, and couldn’t alter the world much).
I haven’t analysed personal stories much with this in mind, but so far it seems like your personal story is usually pretty separate from the world and its inhabitants. This might be a little jarring for some, but it does free up ANet to make sweeping changes to the world without breaking anything (although they’d probably have to replace the events in the area to make sense in the greater scheme).
I really hope they take this approach and look forward to going back to Fields of Ruin every now and then to see how the treaty is doing!
