I attain about 30-50 tokens a night and have never done jump puzzles in WvW, and I’m a support specc’d guardian, and almost never travel with the “zerg”.

However, that’s beside the point. You should only play WvW and this game if it’s fun to you. If you aren’t having any (fun), you should find another avenue of enjoyment?

You’re saying gear is your reward. Ok. So what happens when you get all the gear. What will you want as your reward then? At the end of the day, video games are about fun and entertainment by playing them. They shouldn’t feel like a job to you, attaining things and the like.

20 gold per piece?? I buy em off the TP for 2.5-3.5. 20gold would get you almost a whole set. I did a combination of tipping for someone to craft me pieces, and buying them outright.

We’ve been heavily outnumbered in Ebay borders, Maguuma borders, and Eternal every night I’ve played over the weekend/this week.

We’ve had some GREAT fights. Don’t get me wrong, but we just aren’t fielding a large enough organized army compared to the other two. Frankly I think our strike squads out there are really what’s giving us any leverage lol. We have some GREAT groups of 4-5 individuals in a party just irritating the crap out of the other two servers, doing really good hit and run tactics.

Anyways, it’s not like this is going to be the last match up between our servers. I’m sure we’ll see both again during the course of the game. Let’s just be glad rampant hacks aren’t being employed and for the most part, all 3 servers are putting forth a good effort.

In the end, I don’t mind losing, being outnumbered, and being challenged every fight. It means we’ll end up evolving to having more skilled players and developing more interesting tactics in the long run, since we can’t just rely on massive numbers.

PVP should be about having fun and getting better. Cut out all this drama already.

Seems at least 1 server in every match up is being accused of “playing for second place”.

On the field, it’s all just laughable armchair commando fluff.

Honestly, if you can’t handle that kind of criticism I think you may have trouble leading successfully in PVP. People are going to insult and rage on you WAY harder than that, daily. You simply block those people and don’t invite them to your raid party for being jerks.

But you need to probably buck up a bit and develop some thicker skin, what are you wanting A-NET to do? Force people to worship and like you?

Has anyone considered the idea of being able to “lead” dolyaks? Like manually maneuver them off the road to avoid a roaming zerg or run up behind the enemies and force it to your camp instead?

This might make dolyaks and supply chains better for smaller groups too.

I would normally agree with you but traitors should be killed on sight. I say if you are going to allow traitors, allow us the ability to capture and hang them or torture them or throw them in a dungeon.

Yeah. I like the whole 5 man guerilla style, taking supply camps. But taking supply camps and killing stragglers from the zerg or ambushing dolyak patrols is pretty much all you can do without a zerg.

If I were to propose a solution, I’d say let the Towers be claimable by small 5 man groups as well. And I don’t mean over the course of 30 minutes without having retaliation from a zerg.

We should be able to sneak into a tower through a back door and take it down in just slightly longer time than a supply camp IMO. The exchange of more points would make it more proactive anyways. The keeps and castles SHOULD be huge, long zerg fights. That’s understandable. But towers and supply camps should be able to be hit by a party of people, not a zerg.

I think this would break up zerging some, allow more small 5 man groups to roam if you give those sized groups attainable objectives besides “supply camp”. At least add towers as a possibility, and between the 2 that will double the usefulness of smaller groups.

It was an idea hatched by 1 person and probably followed by him alone. Sure, Ebay was the main target when they had the lead. Now TC is. That’s simply how it goes. I was on all last night to help the Maguuma late night defense and let me tell you, we had like 10-15 active people, tops from 2am PST to about 7am PST. (Eternal Battlegrounds)

The times I made it into Ebay turf (which was being dominated ALL night by a second entire zerg owned by TC) I saw maybe equal numbers. 10-15. Maybe they had more but I never saw them.

Meanwhile, TC had 2 full zergs (30-50+/ea). One constantly sieging and taking points from Ebay while another stepped on us seconds after every attempt to take a supply camp or tower. Then, they proceeded to spawn camp us with siege the rest of the night. I’m just throwing this out here for all the crazies who still think there was ever an alliance – there wasn’t. There’s just such a thing as bigger threats and primary targets. Sometimes those coincide, so that’s where you deliver most of your aggression.

Chill on the whole Alliance thing – we ain’t friendly.

Thanks for sharing, mesmer definitely looks fun. Think you inspired me to roll this class as my alt, as guardian is fun in WvW, but playing 24/7 support with the current rewards/loot system makes it tough. Guardians general lack of range, too, somewhat limits them.

You stay very mobile, which looks real fun. Do you regret your race choice? I’m Asura on my guardian, but was wondering if you’ve realized now that certain race skills might be better suited?

Also which class do you have the most trouble against? Thanks.

Honestly, upgrade system is ridiculous. It makes the night capping issue even worse. All you have to do is capture all bases when the other server has very few players still in WvW and then upgrade them. By the time the other servers get on, they basically have no hope.

Why should they have hope? they’ve abandonded a battlefield for 12 hours and are crying that the enemy took that time to set up a few canons?

Love this guy. It makes so much sense it’s hard to imagine anyone would ever think otherwise. Thank you, stealthmonkey.

We were told there would be no death penalties in this game, but they not only have death penalties, they have them in PVP. Death penalty PVP games suck, which is why most people don’t play them. The majority of people who play EVE, Pirates of the Burning Sea and other death penalty games hang out in the safe areas and don’t venture into PVP zones.

There are too many gold sinks in this game already and all they do is discourage people from participating in the game by punishing them when they do. The whole idea of punishing people for playing a game is idiotic.

Death penalties in PVP have to go.

I have no clue where you get your information from, but you obviously have never sat down and looked over any of the unlimited number of killboards out there for EVE online to see how many people lose ships in that game, DAILY. To state most people just sit in safe zones is… well simply misinformed.

I’d say a few silver in repair costs is hardly “ZOMGDEATHPENALTYICANTPVP!!1!”
It’s hardly a cost.

PVE for like 30 minutes in any high level zone and you’ll make enough to cover your repair costs for like a week of WVW, even if you constantly die.

It’s fun for me. Also, I’m on Maguuma. So, I could argue it’s working as intended, since I’m pleased and having fun, since you’re simply doing the opposite… right?

Too many complaints on this forum about people thinking diversity = imbalance, along with various degrees of self-entitlement.

I loved in several other MMOs where the times throughout the day changed the dynamics of the playfield. Sometimes you were in an uphill battle as a team, others you had numbers and were taking over what you’d lost while you were outnumbered.

Second, it’s ridiculous to judge the system so quickly. It hasn’t even been given enough time to properly rank the servers. Don’t worry, Dragonbrand is superior and they will rise above our bracket soon enough. Eventually, you’ll only have even fights to complain about, OP.

Don’t worry guys. These recommendations of shutting down WvW from X time to X time will NEVER be implemented. Neither will disallowing cross server. Anyways, disallowing cross server play wouldn’t solve the problem, because on a few servers you’d still have the night owls like myself that ARE US timezone and ARE going to have all your base belong to us before you waken. It’s a viable strategy, one I don’t mind utilizing each night, and you simply don’t like it because you can’t do it yourself.
