Can any one explain to me why it’s a good idea that the game limits me on my skill build. I need to use 4 wapons skill, 1 healing skill and there is 1 slot only for elite skills. That leaves me only 3 slots to chooce my onw skills. Are we like little childeren, not smart enough ot make up our onw mind.
Who ever thought this was good idea needs to be moved to another department. It killed the game for me. When WoW has more ability customization, there is a problem.
Play an engineer or an elementalist and you will hace a plethora of skills
1-10 players unhappy is understandable:
1. You dont have weapon swap until 5 (?), wich doesnt make sense because is a core feature
2. You start unlocking spells as an elementalist according to your level (wich is boring for people who wants to use Air or Earth)
3. Usually you dont start with the weapon you want for your class (Greatswords/Bows)
4. Every weapon has to be unlocked, even those you dont want to use, and since some utilities are mixed, you have to unlock utilites that doesnt make sense until you learn more about the game and you develop your own playstyle. This is annoying if you only do WvW, because you will unlock weapon skills slower than PvE.
Its understandable that ArenaNet does not want the players to have everything at the start to not overwhelm them, but that makes the game not enjoyable as it should, also:
Take rangers for example, almost everyone wants a Bow, yet they start with an Axe.
How does inspect will be abused if stats dont really matter in Guild Wars 2? Or i am missing something here? because as far as I know all end gear have the same stats.
Yeah, some missions I prefer to do them if I can outlevel them. Some players may tell you that they did level 10 missions when they started the game, but its a new game, so its ok to not know the class in perfection.
Dungeon Finder please. Im one of those people that do not think a dungeon finder kills server community. Its a minimal impact in my opinion. 9/10 times you’ll run with 4 other people and not see them again, or maybe once or twice…without a /wave in passing.
Yeah.. I wonder how can it kill a community if one can change servers each day.
edit.. my vote goes for dungeon finder too
Skritts.. I dont know why we need to kill the poor rats =(
Engineer, but only because I can’t understand them, and perhaps someday you can write a guide about Engineers :P
Yes please, make them repeatable, let us talk to the quest giver and ask him if he wants aditional help. Just down-scale the rewards according to our level (If you are 80 doing a 15-25 level heart, you get only 20% of the reward for example)
agreed on the pvp part within the pve.
dueling is a MUST.
and dueling people/champs of other server for fame and glory.
structured pvp is good for esporters.
regular “unfair” pvp is good for roleplayers.
A dueling arena should do the trick.. so people wont be spamming /duel everywhere, ruining the game for others.
Anet did posted last week that they are reimagining endgame and preparing some new content, so you can either roll an alt until that happens, or help your guildies in WvW or running some instances with them while teaching them the game mechanics.
I believe the code you’re referring to is the diminishing return/anti speed clear stuff added a couple of days ago? If so, these issues may turn out to be moot as they are now saying the changes are not working as intended.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Updates/page/16#post190414
No. What the OP is referring to is the anti-farm code that is similar to the one used in GW1. After farming a certain mob type for a set amount of time, the drop rate becomes abysmal. IMHO it is a terrible idea, even if it is trying to root out gold farmers and bots. It hurts the normal players the hardest. Some of us enjoy farming.
Farming the same mob over and over? you must have loooved Lineage II back in the old days. Jokes aside, it is stated as not working as intended, so they should fix it (soon I hope)
and yeah, some kind of “player controlled endgame” could be awesome.on
with the top players really having some kind of influence on the game (and thus attracting enemies and friends!) like in the real world i believe the 50%+1 of people being rational instead of chaotic. so entually the right people would be at top.The only trouble GW2 has with that is that they have separate shards, I don’t know what server population is maxed out at but Guild A on server A who may be top dog on that server does not and cannot be influenced by top dog guild B on server B.
The thing with Eve and the beauty of the game is that everyone playing the game is on the same server, it is the only game that has managed to pull this off, so that means you have 3000+ person PvP battles in the same area over resources.
I don’t think that this type of endgame could be possible on GW2, don’t like the way top dog guild is taking the game, just change servers, I hope you see what I mean, Eve was designed from the ground up to fuel conflict in it’s playerbase, hence everyone on the same server.
I wouldnt say as far as Eve pull that off (3000+ pvp battles)… that game becomes a lag fest when that happens, you click to shoot your weapons and 2 minutes later they start firing.
I love seeing that people are still generally decent. They’ll help you kill a monster and revive you if you’re down. I pass the good will forward and someone else does the same. Lovely concept <3
I’ve noticed this too. By-product of reduced competition for mob tagging and nodes. In previous games, if someone was in my area, and that person died, my usual reaction was “Thank goodness!”. Now, I speed to their side. I’m always getting picked up and dusted off by random strangers. It’s warm and fuzzy.
Sometimes I open the map just to see if there are downed players nearby so I can help them. And due to the difficulty of the game (dont know a lot of mechanics yet), and scaling mechanics, I feel its more important to resurrect someone than to keep dpsing the mob (I hate to die in two shots, so I kinda feel sorry for the poor guys lying on the ground)
Second worst patch in history? come on!
So we were in WvW, three of us chasing an enemy.. he runs towards a bridge, we followed him, he goes through the forests, so we did.. we were so obsesed into capture him than when he accidentally jumps trough a cliff into an abyss… so we did =(
Just think of WoW but without the raids and with a huge war going on between three servers, and ask yourself the same question again.
Im sorry but…
Gw2 = MMORPGAnd see, therein lies your problem; you have this asinine preconception that all MMO’s have to be the same, and that the only thing that makes an MMO is some progression-based gear treadmill. And that’s like saying the only thing that makes a first-person shooter is prone and weapon customization, or the only thing that makes a fighting game is eight-way run and weapons.
No. The only things that make an MMO are in its name sake.
MMO: Massive Multiplayer Online
RPG: Role Playing GameThat’s all that’s required to make an MMORPG what it is. The genre’s not called an MMOGTLFRPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Gear Treadmill Loot Fest Role Playing Game).
Thats Trademarked by Diablo III.. sans the massive of course.
While its true that this game doesnt need better loot, it sure does need lots of minipets and cosmetic mounts, I remember in WoW vanilla doing a lot of Alterac Valley because I wanted the winter wolf even though I already had an epic mount back in the old day. Farming for gear is nice, but once you got the gear you want, you need another carrot.. err.. objective to achieve.
this is especially true with Guardians, they dont have many ranged abilities (only two weapons with limited range), a low level Guardian in WvW can feel that isnt helping his team because he cant reach the enemy archers up in the towers. A guardian may shine when a lot of friends are near, but the buffs dont last long, and some abilities requires that the guardian stand still. A low level Warrior can shoot from a far with a bow or a gun, and do a pretty decent amount of AoE suppressing fire.
Is there a way to enable area loot? or is there a game decision not to have it? It would be very helpful to have it.
Sort of.. I would like to choose between skillsets, even if I cannot mix them. Although mix them at will would be the best. Like in GW1. Some weapons I dont use because of the current implementation.
They should look at diablo 3 and runes, those can change your gameplay drastically if implemented properly. Having % increases is boring, but having a trait that change your skills (your sword no longer do__ but instead now you can___ ) for example, is more dynamic and can create good synergies with your playstyle.
Completing challenging heroics
LOL! WoW and challenging don’t belong in the same sentence.
And this game does in comparison? don’t give me such childish response. link me up your 100% heroic raiding completions with hard modes and challenges. oh right you never even got close.
People have completed this games dungeons and achievements already, effortlessly.
Fact still remains, grinding a legendary is crap compared to social, teamwork dungeon crawling, only a complete fanboy in denial would say otherwise.
I don’t have a WoW account any more since I don’t like playing games that are boring drivel.
The only thing “difficult” about WoW (one of the easiest games ever released) is enduring the horrendously boring gameplay (oh look at me, I can mash the number row, SOOOO HARD).
I’m just curious if you think GW2 is hard?
I mean, to me it feels like mashing the number keys plus the dodge key occasionally, at least DURING combat. Outside of combat, there isn’t even that challenge. Run down the hall until you get to the next pack of strategically placed monsters.
Then you get to combat again: Pull the group of mobs of a size predetermined by the developers to be acceptably challenging with no options for stealth, crowd control or changing the number you pull. Mash your buttons and dodge. Rinse repeat.
CC mobs is not a challenge, is clever and carefull playing. You can do that in Guild Wars too. For crowd control you can root a mob in place and attack another, create an invisible wall between them, for stealth playstyle you can attack a mob only to dissapear and reappear behind it, or kite him, let him get near and then dissappear and leap 10 yars back. Warriors can CC and get in range too if things get hairy, and kick mobs from them.
The skills are in the game. Use them.
With the holy trinity the ones who work is the tank and healer. With a good tank the healer never gets targeted and the dps just pew pew everything until the mob is down, never in danger unless the healer isnt paying attention.
And jumping out of the glowing floor, is only a challenge for mentally impaired people.
Here you will have a lot of trouble if you have a glass cannon character.
Or mindlessly grinding 1000s of ores and leveling 100 times over for an aesthetic slightly flashier weapon.
Yes because running a “raid” (highly scripted boss fight where everyone facerolls the keyboard) 1000s of times is SOOOO much different.
… losing faith in people on the internet.
Completing challenging heroics, fighting epic bosses (Scripted is a problem to you? ALL THESE GAMES ARE SCRIPTED…. ALL GAMES ARE SCRIPTED AT THE CORE.) and having the thrill of awesome random drops, and unlockables, titles…
Isn’t generally more fun than … going around Orr…. mining veins for 100s of hours…. to get a weapon that looks slightly better than the rest, has no more power …… just 1 weapon… not a completely revamped character with cool unlocks… just 1 weapon…. to signify you grinding materials and effortless “scripted mobs” for 100s of hours..
Man I wish you would make an MMO, I’m sure people would flock to it.
reminds me of Vanilla WoW endgame:
want epics? kill 10000000 yetis for the darkmoon faire necklace, and then wait literally for a month for the darkmoon faire to appear near thunderbluff
want something cool and useless? kill 100000000 bears for the trinket who sumons three bears that do nothing, live for 10 seconds and have a 10 minute cooldown.
level skinning at max? run UBRS until your fingers bleed for a chance of The Beast to drop an item that will get ninja’d for someone who isnt a skinner.
oh.. the good old days
Comparing, dungeon gear to random outside grinds? at least WoW gave you MANY options.
Im sorry, its a childish arguement, if you dont like PvE thats fine, but cut the rubbish….. you can make any mode of a game sound horrible by doing what you are doing.
Im done with you, its just too childish. and for starters THIS ISNT VANILLA WOW, you telling me you think you have a case when you are comparing a 2012 game to the design philosophy of a 2004 game not the 2012 expansion which is massivly different?
Your making Guild Wars sound worse mate.
Im sorry but I was too bored to get to the endgame in Cata and Im too old for the kung fu Panda Bears. You are the one comparing mining 10000 of ores for end game crafting and saying its a grind fest.
Go back to WoW to see if you can catch your carrot this time. The GW2 devs already said that PvE endgame content is coming so instead of complaining, read the links about it.

Where you have to go to the bank or a vendor, when your bags are full.
Woah, woah, woah….what?!
My bags get full and I don’t have to go anywhere? I’m missing an important feature, what is this!? Is this really true? I can just bank and sell standing around out where I’m farming for crafting mat… I mean, working diligently on hearts and DEs? (side note: I am a bit surprised that ‘farming’ and ‘crafting’, and I suppose ‘healing’ are not replaced with ‘kitten’ :p)
How do I do that?
Press “I”, click the gear icon in the top part of the bag inventory, and click “send materials to bank” (or something like that), I will automatically send all your crafting mats to your personal bank.
And dont forget you can also sell all your junk with one click too when talking to a vendor.
In my opinion WoW is for people with a lot of free time, who upon login, wait for their guild member, prepare themselves and then commit 5 hours in a raid hunting for gear, while GW2 is for people who play whenever they can, and upon login into the game can siege a keep, take it, get killed, lost the keep, retake it, and do all that in 1 hour of play. Sure the fight will get repetitive eventualy, and there is no gear grind, but the same can be said about Battlefield 3.
I just want to point out this issue I am having, it took me 20 mins and 30 silver to get cooking from 0-101… The actual crafting took 3 minutes total, <strong>the other time</strong> was spent getting the ingredients from the BLTC.
I’d love crafting similar to either FFXI or FFXIV, crafting in FFXI was rewarding since it took a few moments per craft and you had the chance to fail, get normal result or produce a HQ item.
Cause this POWER Crafting is not very good in my opinion, what do you guys think?
so.. was “the other time” fun? how long does it took you to get the materials?
I didnt like the game when I first played it, the BWE’s was too confusing with too much spells going on and fast cast everywhere, I really hated that.. until I tested the WvWvW and have to quickly learn how to use my skills and push/pull enemies like a real battle. Then, I returned to do some PvE and the attacks I though were fast and on steroids, suddendly slowed down.
Now, I can’t stop playing.
Is it attacking?
If no
It’s either dead/passive/buggedIs it not on passive?
Its either dead/buggedClick F1
Did it attack? If no then its dead
Detuctive reasoning
That doesnt really work in a WvW situation, because you cant really tell your own pet from the others and sometimes you dont see him at all. And sometimes you pet wont attack even if he is alive (bug), your pet will be renamed as a juvenile something (bug). and sometimes he wont use his special ability (bug).
So, Its better to have a clear indication wheter our pet is either alive or dead instead of “deducting” wheter he is bugged/dead or chasing rabbits.
Dead pet should just dissapear from screen and our pet bar until they are fully healed, and we should see a message in midscreen “XXX, your loyal companion, has died”. Its not like we can Rezz them like we used to, so theres no need for them to stay near us doing nothing.
When I report gold sellers, I right click on the name, and the game shows the account name of the offender but not the character name, so I dont know exactly if Im reporting the gold seller I want to report, or the player above or below. Example
[chat menu]
rangerA
rangerZ
XXwarriorXX (right click to report —--shows “do you want to report luchifer.6401?”
guardianABC
This is especially hard to see when the chat is constantly uptated.
When I do some WvWvW I always see the explosions and arrows flying at the distance, but I only hear the sound of the explosions when Im really near the battle. It would be more “realistic” to first hear the sound of battle and then see it.
Yesterday during gameplay all the dead enemies in WvWvW had their health bars displayed, and it was kind of annoying because its unnecesary info to have and was kind of confusing to see who was already dead and who needs to be killed. Dead enemies shouldn’t display a health bar.
I want to remark, they were dead, not downed.
Play another class that suits your powerlevel playstyle.. like elementalist for example.. get all four sets of armor (water/fire/earth/wind). Or look for a cool looking armor/weapon. Get all the cooking recipes (cooking is supposed to be hard and expensive), help your guildies, etc.
