elementalists contrary to popular belief are not the wizards of this game
mesmers are, elementalists act more like shamans
its really dumb when a pack dolyak avoids a direct it because it takes that long to cast and signet of earth is on CD
people should be using dodge rolls or other evasive maneuvers to avoid its damage, not walking out
fact is it has a cool down, so the amount of dragons tooths you cast in a fight will not change

on a serious note, what is with the health pool inequity in this game, i dont think some classes need more hp but the top hp classes and the bottom hp classes need to have there average health pool adjusted to be closer to the middle hp classes
for this example we are gonna use thief(10,805 base hp) engineers(15,082 base hp) and warriors (18,372 base hp) to represent each health pool type

the distinction between classes should not be HP but actual passive/active defenses, there should not be an 8k+ hp difference between any class especially since this mmorpg has an emphasis on no trinity

the only good elite is the underwater elite, which literally destroys things
the tornado should act more like that, glyph of elemental is flat out useless in pve and WvWvW because of aoe damage sometimes killing it instantly, its decent in sPvP because players generally dont focus pets unless they chase them
greatsword like all conjured weapons is not amazing but probably the best world pve elite due to the fact during dynamic events with lots of players its great at damaging large groups of charging mobs, not recommended for dungeons however
the issue with giving eles a pet bar is we already have so many more things to pay attention too then any other class in the game

dragons tooth in its current form is mechanically incorrect, it simply drops to slow and does not have a large enough AoE/burst damage to function the way it does and its animation is HUGE and noticeable
dragons tooth needs to drop much faster, fast enough that players cant walk out of it but slow enough that you can still dodge roll away, this would not be overpowered since it is restricted to a cooldown and the amount of dragons tooth you cast during a fight will not change
you cannot comprehend how angry i get when a slow moving pack dolyak only takes a glancing blow from a dragons tooth because it already walked too far ahead

they really dont need to decrease the damage of DT, the issue with DT is entirely mechanical
its simply not reliable
dragons tooth is useless now and suffers from horrific design choices, the combo was over the top but takes far more skill then anything anyone else has now

Air Attunement >RTL > Updraft> Fire attunement> Phoenix > DT > Signet of Earth(root) > Ring of Fire > Arcane Wave > Arcane Blast > Flame Grab
vs
haste > bulls rush(knockdown) > hundred blades >weapon switch > eviscerate

haste > shadowstep > pistol whip(root)
DT shouldn’t be THIS slow, you can literally just run out of it unlike any other placed AoE in the game
its on the list of poor elementalist design choices along with failure to live up to the original class description, poor synergy between attunements, conjured weapons and mandatory arcana traits
you dont really need arcane wave, switch it out for signet of earth
without SoE’s root dragons tooth is far too unreliable, im shocked actually how horrificly slow it is… i mean you can just walk out of it without using a dodge roll
20 into fire is also questionable, you could drop internal fire and put another 10 in arcana
other then that its actually very cookie cutter, but cantrips might is neat
the sorrows embrace light shoulder armor is currently the wrong armor type and is unwearable to light classes
you can clearly see it matches the light set yet counts as medium armor
this also means there are currently 3 heavy shoulders, 6 medium shoulders and 0 light shoulders at the vendor
the shoulders also are listed as light at the spvp cosmetic item bank, which confirms there light and im not crazy
that being said dont make the same mistake i did and spend a ton of tokens on it

people get emotional over little things, especially when people have waited quite some time for it
posts where the poster is infantile and going off in swearing tangents are ignorable, because seriously make your dam point
posts where people point out something is horribly wrong and there’s a substantial amount of people agreeing its wrong should be taken note of, even if the poster in question has a very harsh tone
that being said guild wars 2 has a big problem…. a Reddit problem
there’s nothing wrong with the people on Reddit, every social website has there idiots and intellectuals, that’s simply the nature of man but this particular issue is its massive mainstream appeal and upvotes/downvotes, these things on there own are not a big deal, in fact there quite fine its just when you combine them things go HORRIBLY wrong
popular opinion will always take priority over critical opinion… and then its viewed by the masses and critical opinion in any shape or form is ignored, it literally hides them

see i would rather have the conjured weapons be useful for any playstyle, and the elementalist by nature is and always will be a niche high performance demanding class
also at the end of the day, people still min/max and if the weapon is amazingly powerful then even the elites will use it, where if it was not then a considerable amount of casual gamers will opt out of it
my idea would be trait skills deep in the trees that simply give you the weapon according to the tree you have built in (this would also mean the molten axe would become…. an arcane… axe?) it activates depending on your attunement and does not replace all your abilities depending on the weapon type (so if you picked earthen shield it would replace your offhand whenever you entered earth attunement and would only change the 4th and 5th skills, allowing continued scepter use where as greatsword would replace all 5 skills because its 2 handed), this is really an ideas guy thing however…… im not sure how it would work in practice and a combo like staff main weapon and conjured axe would kitten the player
its just an idea though, it would make conjured weapons more compelling and not waste a utility slot
i think the issue here is another example of poor risk vs reward, the thief in this case has gone full damaging build with little focus on passive defense
elementalists are not privileged to this luxury, especially in a situation where changing builds is so costly and pvp is shared with pve
this is also another example of POOR WvWvW scaling, that should not happen even if that player is level 2
The idea that a profession must be played by using the same combo 1-2-3 over and over again is simply wrong, there are several way to start any combo, all the problems you mention are yours only
he is referring to the Scepter/Dagger Power build which is essentially based around using your other attunement abilities to put your opponent in a position where this combo is most effective
on the subject of dragons tooth, the very mechanics of the ability are wrong, its slow enough you dont need to evade out of it (you can literally just run out with no speed buffs) yet its so utterly massive you will always see it coming and it has a cooldown, this screams bad game design
its damage even after gear scaling its simply not enough making the risk often not worth it in most pvp encounters both structured and WvWvW, the few being its ability to hit players on walls in WvWvW and the fact that it sometimes does not load in correctly in large 50+ player battles (this should be fixed by the way)
you can make it targeted but i recommend simply making it form and drop faster, just fast enough so an enemy player will still get hit by it while moving at standard run speeds and can still dodge it with evasive maneuvers
another solution would be to attach a root to the skill, many classes share this kind of mechanic such as thief’s pistol whip, however i recommend against this
There’s far to many “push button to stun and butcher” buttons in this game already

i assume Pelum is no longer going to use his commander tag in WvWvW is the solution
yes i didn’t notice the burst damage was in the water attunment instead of the fire attunement, which now that i think about it makes sense
underwater damage in general is still terrible across all classes as far as im concerned, so long and boring even with the classes that are supposed to be OP underwater

CKMo.4097 is saying that synergy between elements is poor, there’s an unusual incentive to sit in 1 attunement a majority of the time due to poor design and attunements do not perform there supposed roles adequately such as earth being defensive focused or air being mobility focused

every longterm issue that WoWs arena esport scene had, has been created day 1 in guild wars 2
the entire system need to be overhauled that focuses on actual teamplay then sitting on a node spamming AoEs against guardians who can carry an entire team
pub games are a nightmare, its blatantly obvious node based maps was a terrible idea since every pub chases enemies off the nodes anyway
i dont know why there isn’t a TDM mode yet
i cant fathom why there’s a map with cannons and sharks, seriously THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA, WHOEVER MADE THIS IS BAD AND SHOULD FEEL BAD

you literally took all the horrible features of WoW arena and League of Legends and stuck it in one game
maybe if you looked around for actual criticism instead of going to reddit who downvote opinions that they dont like you wouldn’t have these issues in the 1st place
for gamemodes, take a look at what hirez has done with tribes ascend, TDM, Objective game mode and arena, these are not difficult things people, these are very basic gameplay concepts
for balance, the risk vs reward needs to be seriously reevaluated, some classes are just too hard to play and are underpowered compared to others, underpowered to the point there’s no place for them in tournaments
the ideology of “you can stack classes and still be successful” is fine and dandy in pve but a complete disaster in pvp, its too easy to simply reroll flavor of the month class stacking will be horribly rampant, its funny because i actually made a post about this during BWE3 how FOTMs will ruin the pvp game… unsurprisingly it devolved into a greatsword warrior is OP thread
and finally things need to be more latency tolerant, oceanic players are at a severe disadvantage unless they play one of the brainless FOTMs
you created great gameplay that is simply being underutilized in a very poorly constructed attempt at a “casual pvp esport” such a thing is an oxymoron, you cant make a casual game an esport at the sametime

these strange things happen at the start of mmos, one class seems to play and feel very poorly in the eyes of many in comparison to other classes
to say there’s something wrong with the attunement switching playstyle for maximum damage is silly
to say there’s nothing wrong with elementalists is also silly
fact is we do have issues
its too difficult and costly to effectively setup our damage in pvp without going into 3rd tier earth, this is also very latency intolerant so Australian players who have to play on US servers will have a disadvantage
we have a mandatory 10 points in arcana for attunement switching buffs, if you dont take that trait in arcana your probably bad
conjured weapons are utterly useless outside of immensely niche situations or tagging large amount of mobs in pve and are not worth using up a slot skill
elementalists need a general vitality and toughness buff, as well as extra toughness when using a scepter/dagger or dagger/dagger
dragons tooth either needs to be an aimed AoE or fall much faster, basically so the only way to dodge it is to actually use an evasive maneuver instead of just walking out
we ultimately need to be less reliant on roots to complete our burst white using a scepter
i feel most of these changes will have little negative effect on us in pve and i believe we need more emphasis on attunment switching
player need to learn to switch attunements more, there’s nothing wrong with that
at the moment light classes cannot get a full set of the sorrows embrace light armor, for some strange reason the light shoulders are medium and are unwearable
this means there are 6 medium shoulders, 3 heavy and 0 light shoulders instead of 3 of each
this is rather irritating since they cost 300 tokens each
i dont think it stacks up properly in combat, theoretically one could hit 20 stacks of might on there own as a scepter/dagger elementalist during a bossfight assuming the cantrips might + 10 arcana is taken
