I’m actually appalled Anet would implement paid server transfers. There is no reason what so ever for us to be forced to pick 1 and only 1 server in the first place. Then to add insult to injury make us pay to transfer to a different server.
I’m new to the game, been playing close to 2 weeks and i have found that the server i picked was not one i want to be on. I had no way of knowing how the server would be before even playing the game and now i have to pay to change servers ? Sorry, this game might go into the garbage bin just on principal.
I understand that there is a problem with WvW and guilds transferring to lower tier servers but this is not the way to fix that problem. Hell it doesn’t do anything other than put some $$$ in Anet’s pockets. It’s ridiculous and if this is the best Anet can do … I hate to see what the next step is when they realize paid server transfers wont fix ((( their own ))) blatant and obvious oversight concerning WvW.
Paid server transfer have always existed and is vital to stop server hoppers in WvW. I think this fixes the problem perfectly and if you have a better method then by all means you should suggest it in the suggestion forum. Also, transfers are still free at the moment so you can still transfer to another world if you’re not happy with yours…
How is it going to fix the problem ? Do you think people who are so inclined can’t afford a $10 server transfer fee once a month or even once a week ?
It’s also apparent Anet has designed it this way by making it (((cheaper))) and easier for the problem guilds to hop to a lower tier / population server. This is a joke and it really makes me sad to see Anet do this. All they had to do was simply make every one who transfers servers start over from level 1 with no gold gems or anything… Problem solved.

Looks like free transfers end on Jan. 28th so if the bandwagon transfers want to leave us they better do it before then.
It will do nothing to stop the problem of guilds transferring to lower rank servers. It actually encourages it by making it cheaper to transfer to a lower population / lower tier server.
The paid transfers are nothing more then a way for Anet to make some extra $$$ and it has nothing to do with fixing this problem or the over looked and obvious flaw in their game. Think about it, is $10 every 2 months or even month enough to stop the guilds that can’t hack it in the upper tiers from transferring ? No, it just punishes those who would want to switch servers for honest and real reasons. I’m appalled Anet is doing this, making us pay for their ignorance and oversight.
More than 2 hours ago I decided I wanted the AR garrison. Not more than 20mins ago we took it. It was a short-lived moment but I decided to take it as Vel’s bday present.

BTW, pay attention to the chat, they actually didn’t get the supply camp. They split up and the 20 or so that went ended up getting killed by 4 of us. lol
Paid server transfer is a really bad idea. Why should we have to pay because Anet overlooked an obvious flaw in their game ? I’m new to the game and i picked my server because i thought it would have a good WvW population. Why should i / people new to the game be punished or have to pay to transfer because we have absolutely no way of knowing what servers are active WvW servers other than some ones " opinion " on a random forum ?
Um, look at the tiers, servers in the tiers 1-3 all have good WvW populations.
I don’t want to be on a top tier server. I just want to be on a server with an active WvW population… How exactly how would i know what server that may be unless i can try a few out ? Oh ya, go to the forums and get some ones “opinion”. That’s what i did when i went to AR and while every one on that server is great and there are some people in WvW it’s not to many. We should not have to pay because of bad game design / over looked problems.
I know there is a problem with guilds transferring to lower tiers but forcing those who are not the problem to pay for the actions of a few is not the right way to do things and will guarantee i stop playing and never spend a dime in the cash shop. They could make you start over if you want to transfer servers, I think that would actually be even more effective than making people pay to transfer.
Either way paid server transfer is a cop out and nothing more than a way to force people to put up more $$$. It’s not going to stop the problem because $5 -$10 every week or couple weeks to transfer is not enough to discourage the problem guilds from doing exactly what they are doing now.

So in the infinite wisdom that you’ve managed to gain in just 1 week of playing the game you’ve grown to understand why the guilds that are full of people who have been playing the game since it was launched did the things we did? That we gave the servers we started on every chance we possibly could to grow and did what we could to see that happen?
There comes a time when you have to stop worrying about others are doing and worrying about you and the people you spend your time with are doing. We made that judgment call and it wasn’t easy for us and we don’t need some one who has only been playing the game 1 week judging us for actions they know nothing about.
