Not meant to stir hate, more a genuine curiosity.

I have done a few dungeons (not many I admit) and to be frank, I don’t see a compelling reason to keep doing them. My reasons:

1. They take an incredibly long time to do
2. If you can manage to find people to do them with you, they are usually addicted to the dungeon and have zero tolerance for people that are new to the dungeon, so often don’t help and leave you dead.
3. The rewards at the end don’t appear to be any better than the drops from the PvE system.
4. I haven’t done fractals at all because everyone advertises for “fractals lvl XX”. Trying to get into fractals at level 1 is impossible. People seem to be drawn to fractals, saying they are fun, but as it is now it is very much higher levels only.

This then brings me back to the original question. What reason is there to do dungeons? As it is it seems to be very long, noob unfriendly with poor, or at least nothing above the norm, drop rates. What am I missing?

The reason for this post – I can no longer complete monthly achievements due to being blocked from fractals, so I thought I would try it out, but was unable to get a group because of being level 1.

During the 3 day pre launch period, I got an Abyss dye from an unidentified dye. I used it not realising how rare and expensive it would be. Of course that also means my character always has to have Abyss dyed armour otherwise I would feel bad about not using the hugely expensive dye I have sitting there.

I actually just got one out of a chest. However, I am brand new to the game (been playing a week) so I don’t have enough gold to sell it yet. >_<

Ha! I had that problem once too. I had a mini pet I wanted to sell but didn’t enough enough money to cover the listing fee.

The video basically says to do dailies, get map completion in the level 80 zones for the exotics you get (then sell them on the TP), run fractals for the rare’s you get then salvage them for the ecto that you sell on the TP, and farm mats to make exotic weapons that you then sell on the TP.

There is a 250 years difference between GW1 and GW2. In the real world, things change over the course of 250 years in terms of currency and coinage. Why wouldn’t that be also true in a game?

I have to admit the GW1 system of having ecto as the ultimate commodity was awesome. What was it roughly? 30 ecto for 100 gold? I wish I could bring all my GW1 ecto over to GW2. My Xunlai Chest was full of the stuff.

I’m talking about in the suggestions section. Sure they are all over the place but I couldn’t find any in the suggestions section. I even used the Search tool at the top, but thanks for your input

I’ve searched the forums and haven’t really come across this yet – which surprises me. If this is there then I missed it and I apologise for not finding it.

Now that the look of a character can be changed, can we have the option to change character names too please?

Thanks for the advice. I contacted support as suggested and they have come back that the name is fine to use.

Hi.

I bought a few of my GW1 characters over to GW2. Someone has suggested that one of the character names might be on the banned list.

Who should I talk to to see if using that character with that name will end up causing me to be banned? I’m not posting the name here in case it is ban worthy.

I should also say it’s not what I consider rude, it’s from a parody song by Zojja … err I mean Felicia Day.

My sincerest sympathies to his family and friends. Death is always a sad thing. His legacy lives through his children and through the memories his loved ones and friends have of him.

I’ll add agreement to this. Trahearne is just woeful. The voice work sounds dull and emotionless. We know Sylvari have emotion, we’ve seen it in a few of them. This guy though … the actor sounds bored and uninterested, it comes through as a character that sounds bored an uninterested. Then to top that off, he comes out of left field, with no experience to lead the three pacts. Three pacts that earlier claim to be the best and argue with each other as to their own superiority, suddenly and willingly let a guy with no experience other than spending time in Orr, lead them … Destiny’s edge would have been far more realistic in uniting the pacts and leading the forces, but no, we got tree boy and his quest to cleanse Orr.

At his introduction, it went from being my story to Trahearne’s story, plain and simple. I was there as a side kick, to an uninteresting and useless character, nothing more. I have no desire to do the personal story part of any of my alts now due to this one character.

Trahearne is the Jar-Jar Binks of Guild Wars. A character meant to be a unifying component that turned out to be a joke. Jar-Jar was shuffled off to be a senator, can I suggest Trahearne, in any future expansion, be too busy running the pact to have any direct or prolonged involvement? Further, can he revisit the pale tree and have some personality and life injected into him, and perhaps have the voice actor use expression, tone and inflection when talking? His rousing speeches were snooze-worthy.

Destiny’s edge – a group of fighters, warriors, scholars, with vast experience in battle tactics and battle. Trahearne – a first born Sylvari, who has spent most of his life studying the Orr of old, with no combat experience and an initial unwillingness to lead anything (cliché there by the way), but hey, he got a sword, so now he is the leader.

The Sylvari have potential, Trahearne ruins it and ruins the personal story for me.

So which is it? Have the map completed before phase 2 or we will be able to complete phase 2 independent of completing phase 1? You contradict yourself.

1. We’re not your beta testers, please stop using us to beta test your game.
2. Your communication process needs improvement; irregular updates on twitter don’t cut it. You release a “game changing event” that has clearly failed, then remain silent for an extremely long period? Not good enough. Communication, regularly, timely communication with your customer base is critical in keeping people interested.
3. You have to realize how badly this has failed. Can it. Fix it. Re-release it. Stop pretending everything will be alright in the end. It won’t. You have gone past the point if no return on this. You will get more praise for openly admitting this went wrong, closing it down and fixing it properly, than the constant criticism you are currently getting for your band aid approach.
4. Not everything has to be “ground breaking”. Things work for a reason. Sure your competitors may be doing a lot of he same things, that doesn’t mean you have to avoid them. One time event can work, given the right circumstances. This is not one of those circumstances. This does not have to be a one time event.
5. Your latest twitter post asks us to join you for phase 2. Why? Why would we take up this call now? Phase 1 was a bug riddled failure, what compelling reason is there for us to beta test phase 2 for you? You have lost the confidence of your players that this is something worth while. Instead, it’s now a joke. What possible reason is there for any player to continue with this event in it’s current state?
6. The Lost Shores are now a Lost Cause. Seriously, accept you made a mistake, gain some credibility back and close this mess down now. Work on it, fix it, bring it back bigger and better later.
7. Retrain your testers and quality assurance people, in how to actually test and check a product for quality before releasing it. As I said, we are your customers, not your beta testers, please have a little bit more respect for us than that.

You can’t. The whole event is designed for Americans only. By making it a one off, one time event at a time that suits America, means that it is too bad for those of us that aren’t in America and usually asleep at that time.

Don’t worry too much though, it’s been a failure so far riddled with bugs. They would be better off swallowing some pride, cancelling it, fixing it, then relaunching it next week – and perhaps make it possible for the rest of the world to partake too.
