Sorry if this has been mentioned, I can’t find it and search isn’t working for me.

Is this new and improved, 80 player, dragon a permanent addition or does it go away like most of the living world items do?

I ask, because I am on sporadic internet at the moment so can’t really get to play it. I’m hoping to soon, but if it goes away then obviously I can’t.

I got to play this for the first time last night. I had no idea what I was meant to do. I was in LA and got the message that some area was being attacked, so off I went. I found a ton of people fighting the bad guys so I joined in. Once the circle was gone from the mini map, I searched for a new one and found a lot of people there too.

Is there another part I missed? Eventually Scarlet showed up but took no damage then disappeared, so on to the next circle on the mini map.

Rinse and repeat. What more is there to do there? Was there a part I missed? I eventually got a reward where I could pick either 40 something’s or 4 boxes of something else plus a few bits and pieces. Is that not the aim? Not trolling, genuinely confused if people are saying that, doing what I thought had to be done was ruining things for someone else.

Hmm okay. Do we know why a Sylvari who is only at most 25 years old hates humans and the Queen so much or is that to be revealed? Sorry in advance of all these are dumb questions, I haven’t been able to play the game for some time and am hoping to get back to it soon but can’t just yet, so I’m relying on the forums for information.

Maybe I missed it but the lead up was that the Queen would make a big announcement that will shock people. Or at least this is what I thought I read. So what was it? She said the humans are doing well then Scarlet showed up.

Is there another announcement somewhere or was the huge announcement scrapped?

She’ll announce she is sending Logan on a mission to find a path to Elona or Cantha. Along the way he will also determine the threat of <insert dragon here>. He will report back in X months at which time it will be a new year for us and we will have a whole new story that involves finding out what happened to Logan in a new land or a badly beaten Logan returns and calls for support in freeing Elona/Cantha from the tyranny of <insert dragon here>.

Either that or she will break the fourth wall and announce to all citizens of Tyria that they are in fact not real, that they are all a digital representation of living entities and are being controlled by humans that are around 1000 times larger than they are and the whole thing is part of some elaborate “game”. The asura will go into hyper-research mode and the Charr will declare these giant invisible beings gods, while the Sylvari will call bullkitten and declare that saying such a thing won’t end well. The humans will want to know what free stuff they get from it and why it didn’t happen sooner

The inquest or the Pirates or whoever will reprogram the Metropolis robots ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_ ) to attack the Queen and it will become our job to save everyone, so that someone else (Kiel and or Evon – whoever wins the election) can take the credit.

Did all the dragons die and the world became a huge party zone? How many celebratory back patting, effigy burning, crab tossing, pinata poking festivities can we have in a row?

Traditionally speaking 10 years is a Decennial (Also known as Tin or Aluminium).

A Jubilee doesn’t really come into it until you hit 25 years then it’s a Silver Jubilee
At 50 years you have the Golden Jubilee.
At 60 and then again at 75 years you get Diamond Jubilee
At 70 and again at 100 years (out of order to above) you have Platinum Jubilee.

Before people rage at me, I understand this is a game and Tyria is an invention so they can make a Jubilee out of 10 years if they want. Shrug Just, you know. Putting it out there.

Added a reward structure to achievement points. As players complete achievements and increase their achievement score, they’ll unlock new, exclusive rewards for their account. The rewards are retroactive for all achievement points earned prior to this update. Backlogged rewards will be given out once per day until the backlog is completed.

Until recently I was in a guild of around 500 people. I would often do things alone though, mostly because time differences meant that when I was playing, everyone else was sleeping.
Now I’m without a guild and still playing alone most of the time.

A living story implies that it grows and changes and has a real impact. The current situation is a month (now 2 weeks) of temporary content then a giant reset button is pressed and everything goes back to how it was.

Living = continues. This is not happening here. Nothing continues and nothing permanently changes. There is a small time of new content that goes away with little to no reference to it ever again.

This is not a Living Story, instead is “Temporary Filler”

I tried searching but the search function on the forum isn’t working. I get no results found on everything.

So, I was wondering. If I move server, will my guild bank move too or does it get wiped out? I’ve put a lot of time and effort into the GB and spent a lot of gold getting influence (I’m talking personal guild bank here) to upgrade various parts of it. Will that be lost if I move server?

Ah, no. They haven’t. Even the simplest search terms results in 0 results found.

I have hundreds of these, across a few characters. They are soul bound (why?), meaning they take up huge amounts of space in my limited bank space. I’ve maxed out to 7 slots and am still struggling for space.

As it is the only real thing I can do with these hundreds of fireworks is to destroy them to clear some space.

Can they be used somewhere else? Maybe allow them to be sold on the trading post? Create some sort of recipe for them, perhaps along the lines of a big bang fireworks, add 50 DB fireworks with glittering dust and a holographic risen mini to create your own dragon fireworks or something?

They were needed for an achievement, now they are just space consumers.

I have mixed views on this. On the one hand I love that the game is getting updates and adds life and newness so often. On the other hand the additions go away after a few weeks, effectively resetting the game back to what it was before. It’s like you have a taste of what can be done then the giant reset button is hit and everything goes back to how it was. There is no acknowledgement of the previous aspect of the living story ever again.

Kiel recently says “well if it isn’t my old friend…” but beyond that….? The constant updates are amazing – and free. I love that. The loss of those updates and therefore the associated lack of urgency or even, the lack of caring that they bring makes it feel redundant. What I mean by that is, you know the new content will be gone soon. You know that the NPCs won’t have any knowledge of the previous events. So what incentive (apart from the immediate achievements/rewards) is there to care about what is happening? There is no emotional investment in the living story. It is purely to get a few extra achievements and maybe some rewards in the form of skins and mini pets.

It doesn’t progress your character at all. There is not sense that your character makes a difference in the world.

Small, incremental updates are amazingly wonderful. Permanent and genuine world changing content would be even better. Something that actually had an impact on the character you play. Something that made you feel there was more happening than merely filler for achievements. Something that will be remembered by the NPCs you interact with.

I get that many won’t agree with me, that’s fine. We are all different after all. I can respect that some people thrive on this. Me? I’m not finding the joy in the whole living story concept. On that note. Can the next update, not involve pirates, crabs or zombies? There is more to Tyria than that.

This seems to be happening a lot lately. You might want to look at your communication processes and work on fixing the bugs there.

How does Canach fit into Flame and Frost? Is it merely because of the refugees? Or is there a deeper connection? Is Canach meant to be our nemesis that was alluded to by one of the devs? If so, in what way is he our nemesis? We’ve had very little interaction with him, so how does he become our nemesis?

I agree, it is poor and lazy design. It’s an example of why the people that made the Flame and Frost end boss need to be the people that make all end bosses. Whoever made this end boss, clearly didn’t put in any effort.

I’ll be honest here, I didn’t read your full post, so I didn’t see you mentioning the part about text in dialogue etc. I assumed (my bad – sorry for that) you meant to remove all text altogether.

The deaf people of the gaming community would disagree with you

Arena Net is a subsidiary of NCSoft. They are, effectively, the same company now. They were separate companies once but not so much now. So saying things like buying from the Gem Store goes to NCSoft and not Arena Net is moot – of course it goes to NCSoft.

How NCSoft then decides to spend that money is up to them. it would be like, for example, saying you bought Microsoft Office, then complained that Microsoft put some of that money into Windows development. The company can disperse their funds to any of their products as they see fit.

Yeah I found that if you stick to the instigator fights that happen just about one after the other and only run between the two, you get no boxes, or very few. If you attach the Karak though you get boxes.

Example, I spent 3 hours doing the instigator shuffle and got a lot of karka shells but no boxes. I then spent 2 hours running around with a group of 10 people attacking the karka and got 3 boxes.

Also, magic find doesn’t work on the boxes.

There is an achievement for Southsun Sightseer, I think that’s is what they are referring to

Is it me or is a slot in the bank missing for these two new mini’s? Are they temporary or was it overlooked to give them a home with the other mini’s?

True and a little off topic (sorry moderators) but imagine if your actions caused you to go down a darker path, only to have those you helped (destiny’s edge for example) come to help you redeem yourself.

I offered to pay but was refused. Mesmer portals are like the ferry service in GW1.

They can bring Cantha back without being culturally insensitive. They just need to find the right balance, with consultation with those that said they were offended.

Negotiation and compromise are skills that I have no doubt can be used in this situation.

Cantha, is part of exiting lore. To ignore it now would be ridiculous. Some of the armor and ascended items even reference characters from the Cantha campaign.

You have to ask, what was it specifically they found offensive? Why was that part not offensive in Guild Wars 1? If it is a hang over from GW1, what would they suggest needs to be changed?

Having said that, Elona is logical to be the next area to open up. This gives a year or more to work out the Cantha issue with NCSoft.

Consortium are looking for something. The hidden cave by their headquaters in Lions arc with that box, more of those boxes that look like that on southsun. They have maps with arrows on them, seem to be tracking something. I dont trust them one bit.

New weapon skins. Seem very un-natural like. Could be from Leviathen (elder dragon of the sea). This southsun story seems to be leading up to dragon bash. Adding in a new elder dragon would be great at the time of a holiday called Dragon Bash.

When I saw the consortium accepting refugees in FnF, told my friends I will bet you money that they’re going to use them for labor to help find something. Now I dont know if they’re looking for something through the guise of expanding tourism, or just using them for cheap labor, this recent rebellion by one of the settlers is clear that they’re oh so nice attitude at lions arc during FnF wasn’t so true. Another thing was that when they were interrogating the FnF prisoners in black citadel, one of them talked about a city goer with a sharp tongue. Consortium is pretty known for having sharp tongues and being your typical businessmen.

Still stand by my prediction that I had weeks ago. The consortium is bad/connected to this and it is either the entire organization or just the person in charge using everyone.

I like the theory. Everyone else has good and bad, why not Black Lion (good) and Consortium (bad)?

I like it a lot. There is life there, the mobs aren’t impossible when you have a bunch of people working with you to bring them down. The content is interesting, the game play is fun.

Guild Wars 1 didn’t have forums. Having forums here seems to do nothing but give people a means to complain – constantly – about everything.

Using the forums for anything constructive is pointless due to the huge amount of “this game is dying, this game is too grindy” posts.

The sense of community does not exist here. It isn’t a place for guild wars 2 players to come together to talk about strategies or builds or anything useful, it’s turned into a pool of hatred that that must be causing you all (Arena Net) to sigh with dread when you know you are about to load the forums.

Do you ever think “hey I wonder what our awesome players are talking about today on the forum?” or is it more “I wonder what they will be whinging about now?” I’ll bet on the latter.

So, my suggestion. Shut the forums down. There are fan sites that can wear the brunt of complaints, just like there was with GW1.

I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but the Asura gates have to be assembled in order to function. I know every bookah in Tyria thinks that they just magically appeared over night, but they are Asura tech and have been built by the finest engineers in the lands.

So, to that end….who’s going to assemble this gate? A bookah human? Hardly. Though the Asuran council knows that the only reasons to put for the gold and resources for a new Asura gate is that the end result is profit for Rata Sum. This profit can come in form of either gold, new magical artifacts, or resources. But, that profit has to out weigh the risks involved. And to risk an expedition of fine Asura engineers to build a gate so a bunch of bookahs could cross a deadly dessert….NO! It just isn’t worth it.

Then the Order of Whispers can open it up. They have a way in.

I have to admit though I do seem to have some luck with dye and other peripherals in this game. I’ve got Abyss and Celestial a few times, the new ones as mentioned above, I got the Charr back back skin and several of the Molten Alliance skins.

Read my post again. If you have a guild of 400+ people and don’t even know who they are, they are nothing but a random group of people.
Guilds should be made up of friends or people you like to play with, not random people invited by spamming chat. If you feel you have to delete someone who has not been on for a few months, then they where not your friend, and you really did not know them, so why where they even in the guild in the first place? just to fill a spot?

So for those, like me, that don’t know of any real world friends that play this game, we should remain guildless? Because …. why? Guild are just for friends? They don’t provide an opportunity to meet new people ?

IS that something only guild leaders can see? When I try it, it doesn’t filter by guild at all. It goes grey for a few seconds then just displays the leaderboard as it was before, showing all ranked players across all servers
