I don’t get why people complains about the 200 gems if you missed an update.
I mean, we already pay for Trasmutation Charges, or banks space, bag space, char slots… see the pattern here?
That’s because we don’t pay subscription. I mean, anet needs to make money.
It’s just natural and part of the bussiness model.
And if you have time instead of money, you can always buy things with gold.
Anyways, more important…
Bring Season 1 to the system anet!!
Shut up and take my gems!!!
=P
PD: I’m totally hyped for Season 2 now…
Before you missed content. You lost it forever. You missed everything, the encounters, the story, everything, forever.
Now, with the new system, you can access the content that you missed and play it. If you logged once during the content duration is unlocked. If you don’t you can unlock for a price. Or not. It’s YOU CHOICE.
Before, you miss content. Now you have the choice to never miss content.
We’re in a better place than before.
Of course, if you want a full fledged paid expansion, maybe it’s not the change that you wanted. But it’s much better than before, that’s for sure.
PD: For the guy in the army. Ask the army a raise! You are bound to risk your life for the country and they don’t pay enough to even spend 10 bucks in a game? That’s nonsense!
Guh… the Sigil of Energy is a bit expensive. I will need to save a bit for those.
I will check the price of the others.
Thanks for the advice!!
There’s a post about this… I don’t know where it go.
But the general idea is that we want more variety in armors. Skympy, not skympy.
And the possibility for females to use the male version of the armors.
I would like more variety of sexy armor, by the way.
Why Ascalon? Why not focus in Orr?
Retaking it from the undead and rebuilding it into shape sounds more productive that going into full war agains the charr. Again.
It creates more holes in your pockets since you have to pay for past journals.
I’m more than willing to pay for the Season One.
Anyways, great annoucement from anet. The living journal idea is GREAT.
No more missing story and content!! Yayifications!!
“H-hey friend, want to play GW2? It´s Great!! Come play with me. B-but you’ll have to spend 120 dollars just to go through some history so you understand the new story made by the devs”
Who would join this game knowing this beforehand? They’ll just go to another MMO to avoid this obstacle. This is terrible marketing.
Yeah, it’s much better to say to your friend:
“Come and play this game with me. You kwow, all the story and content. You missed it. All of it. You gonna be lost but you can read the story in the wiki.
And you never gonna have all the nice and shiny things that I have. And you don’t get to play all those encounters, or meeting those characters.
But come and play with me because!!”
This seems like a VERY poor way to make money.
Why not put your effort into releasing an expansion, rather than hoping that people will spend 200 gems per “chapter” of a missed LS season? I mean, there can’t be that many people who will be willing to do that(not to mention just purchasing via gold).
This seems like an implementation we’ve seen before and ANet has backtracked time and time again on it. I’ve no doubt that they will again change their implementation to just give the LS unlocks regardless if you logged in or not(so save your gems/gold).
tl;dr: Focus on an expansion instead of hoping for people to shell out gems for (imo) substandard content.
PS: your TV show analogy doesn’t work, as I can set my DVR to record while I’m away(or watch whenever I want with HBOgo etc.).
I will gadly pay for the season one too. I really want to play the story that I missed.
Having this as a feature is a great improvement. Now If I miss something in the season 2 I just need to spend a little cash, and voila, can play it.
No more missing chunks of the story or content!!
That’s make the difference for me. Seems that we will be at least free for the tyrany of the clock!!
Hope that they manage to get season 1 in the new system soon.
I really hope that they manage to put the season 1 in the new system.
I don’t have a problem in buying gems to be able to play what I missed.
Make it happen anet!!
Concerning the discussion we hand in another thread a day or two ago it makes me realy happy to read about this journal change for players to replay previous content
I am so happy for you Rincewind.9528 and also happy for you that my wishes for non-rewarded replays didn’t happenNow for the Season 1 stuff, I am pretty sure they will implement it sooner or later. Imagine how much money they can make on that
Awesome move Anet! I realy like it!
Highfive!!
Thanks for the sharing the happiness!! =)
I would like to see people whining about living story now. I have enjoyed all the content releases up to now and now with season 2 all offering permanent content you all can stop complaining about that and enjoy it as well. Season 2 is looking to be a real treat… Cant wait good job anet
You enjoyed all the content. So, what you want? A prize? A medal?
An interface like the one that WOW used for the pets would be really nice.
But if can’t be done, a equip slot can be fine too.
And how about two minipets active at the same time?
I want to have mini Kas and mini Jory at the same time!! =)
I really hope that they manage to put the season 1 in the new system.
I don’t have a problem in buying gems to be able to play what I missed.
Make it happen anet!!
Woah, the new system looks amazing!!
Hopefuly they will implement the season one to the system.
I’m totally paying for playing the parts that I missed.
Well. so, season one will be covered by this sysmtem?
I don’t mind at all paying to be able to do the content that I missed.
Regardless of that, the change sound fantastic!!
I have high hopes for season 2!!!
No.
These items, amongst the other LSS1 items that weren’t included in this festival, still have some sort of prestige tied to them because they weren’t included. Leave them alone, there’s another season of the LS coming in a month, instead of quitting or ditching this game temporarily for another game, stay and earn the season 2 rewards like everyone else.
“Prestige”
Funny.
And in the way you say the last part… it’s starting to sound like a job more than a game.
It’s not about what i like. It’s about bad game design. Is it really intended for the world of Tyria, to see hundreds of people running around in circles, killing the same mobs over and over, in a short amount of time, multiple times a day?
Not only is it ridiculous from a lore and immersion viewpoint, but it’s also ridiculous from a gameplay viewpoint. Instead of having people use Swiftness boons, they might as well just line up the Champs against a wall, and have them spawn continuously. It’s really the same thing. The only difference is the travelling part. At least in EotM though, there are other players that kill you. Not so much in champ trains.
Well, if the mobs keep spawning is only logical that they get killed again.
Most logical would be that the army get rid of the bandits, the trolls, the ettins. I mean, they have those perils on their backyard. Just make a few more forts and get rid of the menace near home.
Honestly, the actions of the humans not make much sense.
But, hey, they’re human, they blow TWO of their kindoms while triying to fight the charrs. They’re dumb as rocks.
Anyways, just live and let live.
If people enjoy doing trains, what’s wrong with that?
And the last part… a champ survival sounds like a neat idea. Imagine it, waves of champion coming to fight the players. First one, the two, then three… zerg for you life!!
I’m confused as to why people want the ETOM train gone, it hurts nothing.. if you want to wvwvw go play a real map. I find it funny that there is always a group within this game that wants to force people to play it their way. You’re all the same, bunch of self entitled whiners who think your way is right. GW2 community is terrible, even WoW didn’t have this level of angst and people trying to force everyone to march in a line.
But alas, trains are bad, people should have to be forced to do harder content for lesser rewards and it’s all for the greater good. Why don’t you people take that in and think about a certain type of people you sound like.
Haters gonna hate, I guess.
Paying 15 buck to be able to grind?
Don’t count with my wallet!!
Now, if we’re talking about no more using charges for the wardrobe, full characters slots, bag, bank and collection spaces unlocked, permanent gathering tools, most of the skins obtaineable in game… we can start talking.
I’m not disregarding what you say about Guildwars 2 being a more relaxing experience for an mmo overall but there comes a point when people just want more of a challenge something to work towards like a wall to get over not only alone but with friends and guild mates. The whole game is currently built around casual players but there becomes a point where people want/need more progression. Before anyone says go play <mmo> here if you want a challenge I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t love this game for what it is.
I agree. There should be more challenging open-world content, but for smaller groups, since the bigger groups already have Wurm and Tequatl.
Champ trains are so ridiculous, and they need to be stopped, whether it’s in Queensdale, or in Frostgorge, or anywhere. It’s just a big zerg, running from champ to champ, with no challenge or strategy, at all.
Anet needs to kill them once and for all, and stop encouraging it.
The easiest solution is to just put them on random timers. They could’ve also made them available as guild missions.
Once champ trains are gone, then players will start doing other content again, such as temples, dungeons, etc.
As it is currently, endgame for gw2, is seeing 50+ people running in circles from champ to champ, because it’s currently the fastest way to get loot. This doesn’t happen in other MMOs, and it just feels like amateur game-design.
Quick solution: Random timers & Zone-wide announcement that a champ spawned.
So, if players don’t play the way you like they’re wrong and must be corrected.
Nice.
All the last patch/update of gw2 have made the game harder. Trains are gone (queensdale and old frostforge) and dungeons are getting harder (some of the old tactics dont work anymore). People are quitting the game because best itens are almost impossible to buy and the best ways to make gold are being destroyed by gw2. From my usual group of friends to create a party (about 13 people), only 3 of them keep playing everyday since the last update. Im getting frustraded too and i just dont get what is the point of this.
thanks.
People were crying to remove champ train in Queensdale and FG. And now they got their wish people are complaining why is it remove….just amazing.
What? You’re kidding, right?
Some people hated the train.
Some people loved the train.
Some people was indiferent.
I liked it. In little quotas.
Was awesome to get the daily done. And kinda fun. Running like madman going all out agains champions and seeing them fall before the might of countless warriors.
And the bacon pause, were people danced together, chatted in the map chat and put nice banners in the hill.
But well, it’s gone.
Honestly, If I wanted to have challenge, serious bussiness, mix maxing and drama, I would be better raiding in WOW.
I’m playing GW2 instead of Wow because Guild Wars 2 is more nice, relaxing, casual. People actually work together instead of competing. You can play the way you like. Nobody will kick of the dungeon for not having certain achievs or Gearscore.
Or so I was told.
Everyday the game looks more and more elitist and mean in general.Add the thing that anet has for temporary content and PvC (Player vs Clock) and I starting to think that I made a big mistake.
It’s a shame, because the game itself is really nice. I love the visuals and art style. The cooperative style of play (no killsteal, only helping, yeay!).In some places there’s a nice and welcoming athmosphere, like in the Cliffs. But in others…
PD: It’s funny, people still complains of the toxicity of the QD train… I witness toxicity everywhere. One group particulary toxic is the train haters. Irony?

For the topic of the temp content, Anet have confirmed that they have seen the light and the whole next living story is all perm content which can’t be complained about.
Yes there people who were against the Queensdale train could be toxic and yes not everyone is polite but I spend a lot of time in Queensdale myself as it is a great place to do dailies and the amount of times I have seen a new player for example at the champion troll event pick up the stone and try to fight it only to be verbally abused over map chat for literally doing the content how it is expected in the game is unprecedented.
Guild Wars 2 needs raids for those who wants challenges to do with their friends. Clear as water. That way you can have us the casual crowd happy, and those who want to do coordinated more challenging content can be happy too.
And about the permanent stuff for season 2… I’m crossing my fingers. Hopefuly the rumors will be true and the age of the Player vs Clock is over.
For the QD train. I enjoyed doint it. Not all the time, of course. After a few cycles it’s become boring.
But the most horrible thing that I witnessed was a few curses when the train arrive and the boss was dead. Or people asking for people wanting to do the champions to wait for the train. But nothing like personal insults… except once.
I’ve seen much worse in the Pavillion, for example.
But, well, let’s stop the nostalgy, the QD train is deader than Disco.
I need to check the food on the TP. Thanks for the advice.
I got ranged weapon, bought a bow in the TP, an exotic valkyrie bow without any sigil.
I guess that I need to put sigils on it. Any recomendation?
Honestly, If I wanted to have challenge, serious bussiness, mix maxing and drama, I would be better raiding in WOW.

I don’t get why the halo is a potion.
Should be a skin for the helmet.
Anyways, stupid temporary content.
Honestly, guys, you really knows how to make a guy with a non-max lvl PJ welcomed and apreciated.
God forbid those leveling their first PJ or even an alt to enjoy the content. Let’s instead insult them and make them feel like the worst.
So much for the nice, welcoming and non-toxic community.
If the place uplevel you, then you have the right to be there.
But, that issue aside, AFK is another thing. It’s inexcusable. And lame.
If you want the reward, do the event.
I know that the event can be boring, in the personal after doing it a few times I found it horribly boring, repetitive and annoying, but if you can’t stand the boredom, just leave.
There’s other options to get your loot. Without bothering the other people that’s triying to play and enjoy content.
This is another reason that proves that content like this works better instanced.
Of couse not, they obviously do not need money.
If they want money they will be releasing in the gem shop things like cute swimsuits, school uniforms, miko outfits, maid outfits, things to pimp your home instance and make it a real home, more costumes with separate parts to mix and match… and things like that. Surely part of the playerbase is willing to spend real money in some of these.
I’m one, except for the temporal content issue.
I have put on hold any gem purchasing until I can see if anet will stick with temporary content and Plater vs Clock content or not.
This is rather amazing actually. People are complaining about not being able to fully experience the Living Story. Probably the most hated thing ever to happen to the game. Well it’s worth a few chuckles.
I agree with lordkrall by the way. In fact, having a few weeks to experience every part of the living story was already extremely kind from an MMO point of view. You actually have to spend a ridiculously small amount of time at this game to get the full experience. All the time wasting goes into grinding achievements and getting spiffy rewards. Calling this blackmail is just laughable.
Basically every update they sent you a mail with the darn story instance shoved in your face. There was mostly absolutely no exploring or searching to be done to follow the story. You could in fact follow up on everything by spending 30 minutes every two weeks.
It’s understandable if you didn’t want to do that because you didn’t feel like it. However you made that choice and I personally don’t think you should complain about it now. Sometimes you just can’t have everything, game or not. If you truly wanted to follow the story, there are plenty of means to catch up, from wiki’s to youtube guides and whatnot.
But that’s not the real issue here. This is about getting everything catered to you with minimal effort and dedication. Or at least that is the message I too am getting out of this.
Yeah, being forced to play everytime or risking missing content is totally not like blackmail. Not at all. Not pressure at all. Wink. Wink.
And if I gonna read the story or watch it on Youtube… what’s the point in playing the game then? I missed the story. I missed the events. I missed the content. I missed the nice things.
It’s wiser to go and play a MMORPG that is less unforgiving with the idea of taking breaks here and there.
After all I started playing GW because I was told that was more friendly, casual and generally nicer that other MMORPGs.
The point is… will be season 2 like the first one? What I should do then? Without confirmation I can’t make a rational choice here.
Up there in the page, besides the forum tab is the support tab. You should check there.
Hum… If I don’t remember it wrong I have mostly berserk with some knight and a green helmet.
I should buy a decent weapon… I only have an exotic hammer. And sigils to put on them.
But, I don’t have too much money, so my options will be… limited.
Thanks for the encouragement!!
I’m the first person to jump on the writers how bad they are doing their job. But for the next living story let’s give them a chance to prove they are not fresh out of some community college or home schooled writing class. Sure they made some ridiculously simple and glaring mistakes any rookie would avoid but I have hope.
IF they deliver some boring story then unleash hell, go broadside and open all barrels. But until then I say give them a chance to prove that the first chapter was more of a lesson than their best attempt.
TL;DR – give them a chance…
Anet might not be to blame for the LS content. Keep in mind that NCSoft might be the real villain here. When I participated in the WildStar beta, I realized that it had the same problems as GW2: a flat storyline and the PCs are forced to rush from event to event (Just like Living Story Season 1). Even the Explorer path is too similar to GW2. *There is a very good chance that inexperienced folks in NCSoft are calling the shots when it comes to content in GW2. *
As a long time Guild Wars fan, NCSoft is on their last legs with me. If LS Season 2 fails, then I just won’t buy any games from NCSoft in the future due to the fact that they interfere too much with developers, animators, and writers. Video games cost money for us consumers ($20 – $60 in the U.S.). When a game doesn’t deliver, I won’t purchase the sequel. As a consumer, I buy RPGs for the storyline and interesting gameplay. Anet has the gameplay part down. We just need a really good storyline to act as icing on the cake. The story doesn’t have to be complicated or extremely thought provoking. The LS 2 story just has to have the following:
— the PCs as the main characters and the heroes of the story. This is non-negotiable.
— NPCs can’t steal the PC’s spotlight. If the NPCs dare steal the spotlight, they have to be punished in some way (i.e. get overwhelmed by the bad guys, get themselves killed, gets their power taken away, etc.)
— Believable NPCs. Give me a reason to care about the PC’s sidekicks and minions.
— Keep the story in-game. No dev-created fanfics and important lore on other sites like Facebook, the blog, Flickr, etc. As an RPG, all GW2 Lore and story needs to be in-game. Period.
FYI— I will still keep playing GW2 no matter what. I bought the game last October and I like my main character. I’ve also found good people via this game. If Living Story 2 fails, I just won’t buy other games from NCSoft (including WildStar).
I kinda like the PC not being the central heroe/heroine of the story or the chosen one.
And I like the actual NPCs… well I love Kas, Jory and Taimi. Rox is kinda cool too. I don’t remember the others… but I missed a lot of story thanks to the temporary content aka living world.
Well, I don’t like the dueling idea.
But If they add an “auto-block dueling invites” feature, it’s fine for me.
It’s pretty annoying when you’re minding your own bussiness and people keep spamming duel invites.
“No, I don’t want to duel my lvl 5 newby char against your lvl 80 clad in epics char.”PD: QD will become Goldshire 2.0. Mark my words. Then we only gonna need the ERPs to come. =P
You know I played maybe 3-5k hours of WoW over the years and In that time I’ve had maybe 10 strangers ever request to duel me, and none of them spammed it or stalked me or anything abusive like that. From my experience I find it extremely hard to understand the aversion to dueling in this thread under the notion that it will be so rampantly abused.
Granted, I never spent 6 hours a day idling in Goldshire. I did other things. Maybe Goldshire was just a hot spot for dueling? Why hang out in a dueling hot spot if you don’t want to receive duel requests? I’m sure if I spent 6 hours a day naked in front of Starbucks, I would eventually get spotted and arrested. It’s kind of a statistical inevitability.
Human starter zone, doy!!
Of course, once you’re out of Goldshire it’s become just a rare annoyance.
And by the way, I said that I was fine with it as long their give us a feature that allow us to autodecline duels. Why are you against that feature?
Well, I don’t like the dueling idea.
But If they add an “auto-block dueling invites” feature, it’s fine for me.
It’s pretty annoying when you’re minding your own bussiness and people keep spamming duel invites.
“No, I don’t want to duel my lvl 5 newby char against your lvl 80 clad in epics char.”

I just want the mini.
The last time I failed to clear even the first tier in the Gauntlet. I still have horrible gear, just yellows instead of greens. So I guess that I gonna have a baaad time.
Proably will try this weekend.
And everything because I must have the cute mini.
Will the valerous and brave, but unskilled and devoid of any hint of reflexes and dextery warrior defeat the horrible thing and get the cute reward?
Probably not, but stay tuned!!
Lets see how Season 2 starts off before we come up with baseless suggestions, shall we?
Preemptive strike!
More variety of all kinds!! More sexy outfits!! More cute outfits!! More bad.kitten outfits!!
Take this TO THE EXTREME, anet!!! Do it!!
1) Permanent content.
2) The end of the PvC (Player vs Clock).
3) More Kas and Jory.
4) More Taimi.
5) Permanent content and the end of the PvC.
6) Permanent content and the end of the PvC.
7) Permanent content and the end of the PvC.
8) Permanent content and the end of the PvC.
9) Permanent content and the end of the PvC.
10) Swimsuits, school uniforms outfits, miko outfit.
I even failed to pass the first tier the last time… and my only lvl 80 char is… well… her equipment pretty much is horrible. I only got one exotic weapon, a warhammer. Full clad in yellows crafted.
It gonna be impossible, isn’t?Last year I beat Liadri with a Warrior using level 78 Masterworks and a smattering of Rares.
(Still took me 70+ tickets though…) It’s possible. Good equipment helps, but your build and individual skill means much more.
I gonna try. Maybe this weekend. (This past weekend I was busy doing the cuterace!)
But I’m surely doomed.
The build, I can check for a good build. But I lack skills and reflexs. I can’t even finish a Touhou game in easymodo. I panic in the crucial moments and always end dead.
The previous event I failed to clear the first tier. I have better equipment now… yellows instead of greens… but I don’t have too much hopes.
I guess that I will not get the cute mini. Why anet, why you don’t make the mini tradeable?
Despair.
I quitted and I came back recently because:
1) Kasjory – Those two are so cute!!
2) Taimi – Taimi cuteness overload!!
3) The end of the Season 1.
I though that was the end of the dreaded (for me) temporary content and the PvC (Players vs Clock). I gonna see if it’s true when the Season 2 starts in July. And then I going to evaluate if I keep playing or quit again.
Add Liadri mini to the rewards vendor.
I really really really don’t want to do the Gauntlet. But I really really really want the mini.
Honestly, the first time that I took a break from GW2, when I logged back, I was so lost about the story that I ended quitting again.
Tried again some time later… Lion arch’s was a battlefield. Again I was totally lost. Quitted again.
And ended forgetting about the game.
Only with the news of the end of the Season 1 and thanks to the news on the Kasjory front is that I came back again.
My first through on the end of the Season 1 was “It’s the end of the temporary content against the clock? Nice! I can play again!!”.
With the annoucenment of the Season 2 I’m on the fence. If the rumors are true I can keep playing without worries. If they keep the same model… well, probably I will end quitting again. I hate being pressured to play. I just want to relax playing games, I have enough stress already.
For now, I’m refraining for spending money in this, until anet gives a clear response about their future plans on content.
Fine with me, as long as I can keep on participating in gold Blitzes on a daily basis and you don’t upscale our bosses by farming mobs near them
I haven’t stepped in the Pavillion since I got my meta done. So I guess that we have a deal.
But you can go and do the cuterace.
I’m so magnanimous!!
:P
Nobody cares about Boss Blitz!!!
(Well, I don’t know about others truth to be told, but I don’t care about Boss Blitz. Weee!)
Anet should give us the option to be both. AND TO THE EXTREME!!
Nothing wrong with that, you know. The important thing is having the choice!!
Not gonna put another cent in this game until they add good permanent content to the game. (Not fractals)
Amen to that. I’m sick of the “running against the clock” approach.
You can try the wiki.
I really don’t know how can I explain it.
If you don’t get it reading my previous post it’s obviously that there’s a communication problem between us here.
Either I’m horrible triying to explain things (more probably cause) or you are horrible understanding things. (less probably cause).
Either way, this is an exercise of futility. Sorry for the bother.
And again you’re missing the point. Your training is top notch I see.
And you didn’t read the whole thread.
But again, if anet don’t want me, no problem. I can leave.
But I would like that they say clearly what’s their stance.
Their gonna keep the racing against the clock model or the rumors are true and they gonna focus in permanent content?
So I can make a decision.
Yeah, that’s on my list. I do AC and CoE full runs and CoF1, CM1 and 3 sometimes as well. It’s still quite repetitive with not much of a requirement other than “stack in this spot” or “stack in that spot.”
On further reflection, maybe this should be in the Players Helping Players forum.. I suppose if a mod sees this thread, move it, please? Thanks.
edit: and wait, there’s a champ train in the Bazaar? I’m also not talking about zerging the blitz, I’m talking about coordination across all 6 bosses to take them down within the gold time limit, which requires skill, focus, and very much the opposite of zerging.
Yeah, every x minutes you can do the 5 champions in the bazaar. If you poke in the artifacts with five or more people a champion spawn.
And in the meantime you can do the cuterace and crystal collecting to get tokens.
The only bad thing is when people who do not know or care spawn the artifact alone and they pop up as vets.
And for the BB, I don’t like, it’s stressfull and some people it’s not very nice. Plus, it’s not very fun for me. Or challenging. The challenge is for the poor souls that have to organize the run. Those people are usually pretty cool and awesome, by the way.
But’s not my cup of tea. I like the cuterace more. Go cute stampede go!!
I want to cry.
I still want the mini. I really want the mini. But I don’t want to do the gauntlet. I don’t even want to step in the Pavillion again.
I was going to try this weekend… but I keep doing the cuterace because I still need more tokens and I can’t decide between the panda and the dolyak, so I’m hoping for a favor drop. And saving because I’m not lucky and probably will not get a favor drop.
Guess that next week I can try… but I don’t want… but I want the mini… why anet? Why you put a cute mini there?
I even failed to pass the first tier the last time… and my only lvl 80 char is… well… her equipment pretty much is horrible. I only got one exotic weapon, a warhammer. Full clad in yellows crafted.
It gonna be impossible, isn’t?
