Permanent is much better than monthly!!
Equality in clothing! Skimpy armors for all the genders!!
For females, for males and for plants!!
And by the way, can we have swimsuits? That would be niiiiice!!
Yeah, I hope that too.
But don’t forget Jory and Kas!! I really want to see more of them!!
Good, good.
The thing that I regret more about S1 is that I missed chuncks of the story.
Like the final battle against Scarlet.
And the Zephyr Sanctum can be made an seasonal festival. They can come back every year. Or maybe every six months or something like that.
^If thats true lordkrall I will be an very happy panda. Crossing fingers
Why not making them champions without events or rewards?
Oh well, honestly I had hopes on playing without time pressure for a time.
I see that they will keep making this temporary content, but I hope that they do not pump it so frequently. I hate playing pressured by time restrictions.
“PLAY NOW. FAST! FAST! GOT THOSE ACHIEVS AND REWARDS OR YOU GONNA LOST IT FOREVER!!! DONT TAKE A BREAK OR YOU GONNA MISS THE STORY!!!”
But, I guess that I’m a minority here… in all aspects… maybe it’s just not the game for me.
Yeah, proviticus has a point there.
But I hate temporary content, so I will be happy with the change too.
Scaling should mean that the boss can be fighted in the same conditions with a group of 6 and with a group of 30. More or less.
If having more people makes it more difficult or lenghty (in an event that’s timed!) the scaling is not good.
Anyways, discussing this is futile. As some people already said this is a confrontation between two kind of playerbase.
The hardcore and the casual.
Anet should make it clear. This is a casual or hardcore game? And should cater that segment.
Or make raids for the hardcore and open world content for the casuals.
Honestly, rewarding for “being there” is kinda lame.
What you can be proud of? No taking breaks on the game? Playing non stop? Having a lot of free time to spend in the game? Managing you time well so you can play the game?
Honestly that’s the bad thing about the temporary contest. Gives you a sense of urgency. You MUST play the game now or you miss rewards AND story.
Watching the cutscenes in youtube isn’t the same.
And yes, making the festival currency into the wallet is a nice idea.
Same for making toys and tonic collectibles.
By the way, what’s wrong with using an up-scaled character in the event?
If the game upscale you, you’re supposed to be there.
If anet wanted that we use only lvl 80 then the game should not upscale you and let die you at the same moment that you set one foot in the place.
But, the place upscale you, so you’re supposed to be there.
I can’t decide!!
The panda is cute. Being a cute baby Dolyak is obviously cute.
No, I can’t decide!!!
I already have the Watchknight tonic from the past event… but the cooldown is horrible. They need to change it. 30 minutes for a 5 minutes transformation?
It’s madness.
Events that means zerging: Bad design.
Events that means stop zerging: Bad design. Will anything ever not be bad design?
Half of the playerbase like zerging. The other half hate it.
It’s hard to please both sides at the same time.
My bet? Just create raids like in that other game. Just don’t make it mandatory.
There are a couple of things that bother me about this event. The first is this mindset that Anet and some of the players have of “the masses need to learn how to play properly/we need to teach you how to play better.” There are lots of resources in game and outside the game for improving your play. The players that want to get better will do so regardless of this type of content being presented to them. On the other side, there are players who just want to log on for an hour or two and have fun playing a game. They don’t want to min/max their build, they don’t want to spend 15 minutes going over strategies, they just want to play; and trying to force them to “learn” could just easily cause them to quit playing as it could cause them to improve.
Then there are the problems when these two different groups of people are thrown together in the same instance. Neither group’s playstyle is “right” or “wrong” but they have different goals and don’t work together well. Eg: there are a couple of 5 man groups in the pavillion that want a gold or silver reward and take down 5/6 bosses quickly, but a 50 man zerg spends an hour on Boom-boom. The small groups get a bronze reward even though they were working hard for gold, and the large group has to put up with a dozen snide remarks and insults.
This brings me to my last point, “Why does Anet keep putting this kind of stuff out in the open world?” People are already effectively creating raid instances by fiddling around with the taxi system. If we’re going to keep getting content which requires above average levels of teamwork and coordination, why can’t we just get proper raids where we have control over who gets in rather than trying to organize PUGs or get a taxi to an organized instance?
Well said. You’re quite right.
That’s why this game needs urgently raids.
I think that the non-skimpy part is well covered for now (heh, pun!). I got plenty of nice armors.
So, it’s time for some skimpy ones!!
And males need skimpy ones too, by the way!
Still no fixed?
I said it when I got it originally and I still think it.
Anet need to reduce the cooldown or increase the transformation time.
Seriously, it’s a fun item. Why restricting the fun that we can have with it?
The cooldown of the WatchKnight tonic is horrible. But the effect is cool. They need to fix it.
Luckily I already got it from the old event, so I need to choose between panda and dolyak. And between gas mask or one of the back items.
Decisions… decisions…
I don’t like it.
For me the scaling is not right. I mean, just because four players joined the group fighting a boss the boss become unbleatable (at least withing the time frame required)? It’s pretty weird.
Even when I got lucky and things went smoothly was exactly fun.
Maybe was exiting a few times. But farming it?
No thanks. I’m glad that I got my achievs and I don’t have to do it again.
I like my content more relaxed. Not running against timers and needing top notch organization. I like the more relaxed laid back approach to the game.
But, hey, this event is not for players like me.
Tequatl update, great jungle wurm, marionnette, tuning down queensdale and FGS champ train, the scarlet knights stuff, to me it seems obvious arenanet is moving away from the huge zergs. If you split groups the event is very easy and plenty overflows are doing the event with almost guarenteed gold rewards, not hard at all.
I was lucky the other day and ended in an overflow with a guild doing the event. They were pretty awesome, all coordinated and we got lots of gold and some silvers.
But… even like that wasn’t the most fun of the contents.
Let’s not talk about the unorganized times.
Feels like content more suited for an instance or something…
I got the metaachiev yesterday. I still can’t decide.
I kinda like the Tonic. Being a Dolyak is cute!!
But the Panda is tempting…
Honestly, I didn’t like too much the Boss Blitz.
Too much serious business for me. I like a more relaxing gameplay.
Plus, some people there is mean and elitist. There’s good and nice people too, but the rotten ones spoil it.
I like much more the laberyntine cliffs. There the people seems to be more happy, helpful and nice in general.
And the cute baby Dolyak race is awesome.
I love Taimi. And I love Jory and Kass too. They’re so cute together!!
Sadly I miss part of the story… because that I hate the temporary content…
Gah. I still think that Anet should implement Raids Wow-style, so the hardcore players can go and do that. And they will be happy, because they will require coordination, communication and perfect build matching.
And then the more casual players can be happy with the rest of the game without the toxicity of the leet playerbase.
Just don’t put minis as reward… because I want them and I’m not raiding again!!!
That moment were you enjoyed more the cute baby Dolyak race than the Gauntlet or the Boss Blitz.
Temporal content is an huge mistake. Forcing you to play always or risking to lose content forever is a huge turn off from the game.
Had to laugh at this thread , your be wanting to start a family next !
Like the adoption system in the good old RO?
About the marriage system idea. Why not? That would mean wedding dresses and tuxedos.
But only if same sex marriage is allowed.
What’s the point of having a gun or an bow if you need to walk to the enemy to get full damage? With that perspective just grab a melee weapon and do full damage always.
I don’t need having things that show that I’m better than others.
I don’t need symbols of status. If you ask me it’s pretty stupid be mad because other people can access to your super-dupper-special-leet-status things.
As somebody who I’ve seen be very upset that ArenaNet changed something about the game you liked (the champ train), I’m surprised you have so little empathy for another player who had something they liked changed on them.
Just because you don’t need status symbols doesn’t mean that other people are stupid for liking them.
But you dont lose you things. You DENY other people those things.
I have this! I don’t want to anybody else to have this because is mine and make me special!
Who have little empathy?
The ranged attack idea is pretty bad honestly. The result will be all playing as melee.
If you want to change that much, just go with the trinity.
Tank, Healer and DPS. And make dungeons with mechanics based in the trinity.
And Raids based in the trinity.
At least the Tank and Healer will have more preassure.
I did’nt expect such polarized answers to come out of this,
For the people against any form of limited items/prestige items, what motivates you to play the game?
I will say I did’nt mean for it to come across as a “I have this you don’t nah nah nah nah” It was more along the lines of “this guy has every LS item and a bunch of cool rare items I can respect that he clearly put a fair amount of work and effort and played in an efficient manner.”
That said In my opinion an MMO is all about being a special snowflake and trying to out special all the other players I mean thats the competition? the whole basis of trying to get items? the “victory condition”.
As Rouven said it was sold as a feature the once off LS events and items. I have nothing against china getting a chance at the items and wasn’t talking about them at all I’m focusing on the EU/NA aspect.
I don’t need having things that show that I’m better than others.
I don’t need symbols of status.
If you ask me it’s pretty stupid be mad because other people can access to your super-dupper-special-leet-status things.
Seriously, reminds me the players mad because in WoW you can still get the achievments and rewards for old raids.
And the new players? They have no right to get them?
It’s pretty stupid and egoistical.
Worse than all is the Living World stuff. The LW is an horrible concept. If forces you to play all the time. You take a break. Sorry, you lost forever story and stuff.
It’s a big incentive to stop playing.
For me. I stopped played a while because that.
I’m back. For now at least.
The OP is kittened because is not more a special snowflake, I guess.
Woah, the elitism is strong in this post!
But, well, seems that anet did this content for the leet players.
We the filthy peasants don’t deserve it.
Sorry for being bad player!!
(But I want the mini… I like minis…)
An alert like flashing in the screen “A WILD TURRET APPEARS!!! DESTROY IT!!” maybe could help.
Yeah, sound kinda stupid… but stupid problems requires stupid solutions!!
By the way, the one boss that I hate is Pyroxis. It’s a mess. Half of the times I can’t see what’s happening or what’s killing me. And those flame thingies are a pain to evade.
I think that the scaling is not working properly.
A group of 30+ and a group of 10 should be able to have the same chance to kill the boss.
Of course, you must do the mechanic right. I mean, if the 30+ don’t kill the healing turret asap… well… that’s another problem.
Honestly, I just come back.
The temporary content, aka the race to do content before is lost forever, aka Living World drove me away.
Hopefuly they will improve the handling this time…
I’m unsure what’s preventing players from playing “the way they want to play”. Is everyone being forced to play a certain way? Am I the only one playing the way I want? :S
Well, it’s kinda hard doing a train for champs in QD without, you know, the champs.
Anet said. BAD PLAYERS! DOING THINGS THAT WE DON’T WANT!
And poof, the train is gone crushed by the allmighty nerfhammer.
Yes, anet, for once we want to spend money in gems. And you don’t let us.
Give us clown outfits, swimsuits and school uniforms!!
Not quite true, the pile of dead people last night fighting the campion spider queen proves that they have AOE damage. Very effective AOE damage.
Wait there buddy, I’m gonna to revive you!!
- Spider plant the poison thingies.
OH C… BOOM!
And if you give the enemies cleave, you need to give the tanks a taunt. An the healers the power to mantain the tank alive.
Wait… where I saw that before?
This whole thread is a fairly pointless time sink…….the whole topic is very subjective, as everyone has their own way of finding enjoyment with a game. So, of course, different aspects appeal and don’t appeal to different players. There is no right or wrong way….there are just different ways to play, and the enjoyment factor all depends on the person and what they consider enjoyable or not enjoyable in an mmorpg.
/shrug
Of course there’s not wrong way to play…
Unless you do the champ train in QD. Then you’re wrong. And you’re a monster. And the scourge of the community. And must be erradicated.
Evil traindoers, being toxic and badmouthing every player they cross for no reason, and PKing the poor newbies and eating their poor innocent souls.
How about swimsuits.
And school uniforms.
What? There isn’t any private schooling institution in Divinity Reach? How the young nobles are educated?
Maid and butler uniforms? (No gender locked!)
I’m very disappointed with the lack of permanent content. The problem for me with the Living Story (LS) is that, every time it pops up, instead of being excited about new content, I just feel pressured into doing it right now because I know its going to get deleted shortly. So I end up not even bothering logging in the game for the duration of the event. I like to consume content on my own schedule, not the developer’s.
At this point, I would gladly pay 20€ for one expansion every year, like we did with Guild Wars, if that meant more actual content.
And shame on the guy that counted hair styles and UI fixes as content. Pathetic.
True. I hate how they handle the living story. The temporal content is an horrible policy.
Is like chasing the carrot, like other MMORPG, but pressured with the time limitation.
“Play NOW. FAST. FASTER!! MORE!! Or you gonna miss this FOREVER!!”
That made me left the game for a while. I come back recently and obviously I didn’t understand what the hell was happening and who were all those people in the story.
Is so sad seeing the Troll as a simpleton and sad veteran.
Used to be a threat, a force to be feared. Now is a joke. And a bad one.
I like champ train.
When I’m in the zerg I really feel that I’m playing a massive multiplayer game. Emphasis in massive.
Of course, it’s not the only thing that I like to do. I like to explore. Do events. The more variety of things to do, the better!
Worried that you not gonna be a special snowflake anymore?
Sorry, but I really dislike “the hurry hurry play play now or miss content forever” mentality. So I’m happy with this.
I will be happier if they decide give the players a chance to replay the LS story.
I still don’t get why the people hate the zerg and the QD train.
Was great having people killing the champs all the time. It’s horribly frustating when you’re sitting in front of a champion, asking for help on the map chat and nobody cares.
And that happened to me countless times.
Now I just know that the champs usually don’t worth the effort.
Yes, please, give us cute swimsuits.
And school uniforms too!!
What? Other games have them…
¿Fun with the Clock Tower?
You must be kidding. Its the most frustrating, infuriating and depressing thing that I played since the old plataforming games.
More choices is always nice.
So, I want more revealing armor. And more no revelaing armor too!!
Yeah, Im kinda greedy, but I love to dress my characters!!
