There is strategic advantage. Because JP in WvW offers blue prints. One golem worth 1 gold. It’s better to get them from JP than buying and it’s better to prevent enemy from getting it.

Wolf, this war last 1 week long. Winning at the start means nothing. You need to maintain it till the end. BG got focus because you guys are winning. It’s normal to take points away from #1.

As an JQ player, servers I’ve faced in one week match are HoD, SBI, ET, CD, DB, BG, IoJ, SoS.
And my vote goes to SBI.
Down state is fine as it is. There is a cap for rezzing. And it can be used as a TRAP.
1 person down, here come ppl to rezz, kite AOEs. I always do that and it’s pretty fun and you down more ppl on one spot.
I’d move rangers up with guardians, and engineers and give warriors their own teir above them. The daze, pet fear, and pet heal are pretty good. They are definitely better off than necromancers.
I’d put thief, elem, and mesmer in the same teir for an open field fight with no portal to run through. My list is:
1. elem, thief, mesmer
2. warrior
3. guardian, engineer, ranger
4. necromancerOpen field only.

May be that’s Anet intention? May be Anet don’t want player to get world completion achievement just by pure pve just as those player who play WvW only can’t get the achievement. You need to play both aspect to get the achievement.
Any game will become stale a some point. But that doesn’t mean It’s dying. One person keep saying “Game is dying” because of bla bla bla yada yada is not fair for the game. Only time can decide it’s dying or not. Let’s keep on watch.
As for myself, I play mainly wvw. And my key to enjoying the game is “FRIENDS” aka with my “GUILD” (the game is named GW2 after all). Unlike pve content, WvW don’t have much update and events, still I skip all those pve one time events and fight with my friends for my sever. I don’t have full exotic gear (some are even green). But I still have a lot of fun experience with my friends, my guild and my server mate. And when I have bad day at work, killing in WvW feels really good.
But OP say the game is dying?
Oh no! But I still have a lot to do.
I don’t have full exotic yet let alone ascended and legendary.
I haven’t experience all the dungeons yet.
I only have played 2 class, what about other 6 class?

Though I don’t like people JP camping. I don’t agree on ceasefire.
WvWvW is pvp area after all. And such agreement will never be able to implement since most people don’t come to forum and individual will act on there own accord.
As a necro specced for toughness/condition damage I dont have survival problems against thieves. They cannot kill me BUT quite often i cannot kill them either unless they`re dumb enough to step into one on my aoe`s. Theoretically i should be able to atleast get some dots running, but because of anets crappy engine issues a normal fight is kinda like this:
- i start taking damage out of nowhere, usually loosing about 10k hp by the time the thief renders
- i place like 3-4 bleeds
- i try to cast an aoe cripple, a spell which is not instant and has a cast time
- thief vanishes before i finish casting
- i start placing marks on the ground hoping he will land in one
- fight resets
Now you may think this is balanced or whatever, however, i mostly manage to survive those lame combos by speccing heavily into defence. Not all classes/specs have this luxury.
You guys keep mentioning D/D eles, but you seem to forget that you can SEE where the elementalist is going and what it is doing. A d/d ele requires quite a bit of work to be effective compared to a thief and its not abusing the lame culling bug.
As a small experiment i went into wvw last night (i play on the Far Shiverpeaks server) and wrote down which classes i encountered.
Out of the first 20 people, 11 were thieves. Is it normal ? You judge this yourself.
Imho a solution to this would be to make stealth break on a certain amount of damage. A lot of other mmo`s are using this mechanic and it works fine.
As for mesmer portal bombing, the fix should be rather simple, let only the mesmer`s party use the portal or limit the number of people that can go through. This will prevent zergs from doing the garbage many call “strategy” atm.
As a necro with staff and axe/focus user myself, I face the exact same scenario with thieves like you did. They won’t be able to kill me, but most of the time I can’t kill them either. They escape fast!
Necro sure have a lot of aoe but they all have cast time. Not quick enough to trap thieve’s stealth and mobility which is quite frustrating. Necro marks laying need to plan ahead with cast time usually but with stealth I can just random guess and lay them.

afaik AOE damage is always 5 targets from the start. The last AOE nerf was for heal skills.

My understanding is you need to complete all hearts, poi, vista, way point and skill points to get world completion achievement right? Isn’t JP in WvW maps are repeatable with 24hr reset? Are they needed for World Completion as well?
Well the only solution is to have more point gaps. Remember to move up one bucket, winning only in your bucket is not enough. You need to win over the 3rd server in higher bucket by means of point as well. Because just winning in current bucket does not mean your server is better than 3rd server in higher bucket. Just by mere win, the higher rank server should not moved down in the rank. It’s a fair system imo.

Now the match up are closed enough, a complaint about same opponents shows up.
There’s always transfer option for your needs though.

May I ask what is wrong with preventing the enemy from getting blue print? Why do you think it is immature? Is not like the whole army is camping with siege. JQ has been T1 for very long. Statement like JQ didn’t get to T1 for being honorable gamers is not fair.
well, I have no problem with it. ANet intended legendaries owner to be master of GW2.
WvWvW is part of GW2 so you can’t take out from getting legendaries. Apart from map completion, you’ll need 500 badges of honor anyway.

You need 500 badges as part of creating a legendary weapon. So if you plan to get a legend they certainly won’t be useless.
Well my point is, things that you can buy with badges arent that good and cannot get you motivated to collect more. And as for legendary, that item is not applicable for all. So…. for me imho, its useless.
Thats why I go wvw for the pvp and fun. not for the badges.
umm… just want to point out my opinion. Badges can be traded for blue prints so they are very useful in WvW.

I think that we were indirectly buffed with the nerfs to the mesmer and the thief. I do not like the change to DS and how it is now removed by Moa Morph – maybe let us enter DS even when Morphed so that we can choose if we want to be in this mode or not ? Soaking up the spike which usually follows MM with Death Shroud was something I was glad I was able to do.
Yes, I have the same view as you. All necro changes are ok except for DS change. Now if meet Moa user with 1 on 1 my chance to win or survive is next to 0%

OMG why? The only necro skill i’m relying on survival apart from being low damage got nerf to Mesmer skill. Now I gotta run whenever I spot Mesmer.

That’s not entirely true. For example, nacro staff skill 2 can heal also ele water atonement skill 4 and 5 if i’m not wrong. I’m sure other class will have those king of skill too. We have more damage then healing because we favor damage over healing. Healing output can also increase to the same level with damage by using trait line and healing power+ attribute if we desire to.
Great move I’d say. If AoE damage is limited to 5 then heals should be 5 too. It’s only fair that way. For siege, it requires cost of money/badges and supplies. And siege can be use by both attacker and defender. So it’s fair imo.
Two options for you.
1. Fight for it
2. Wait till your server change color (Green, Red, Blue) then get them.
edit: yup another option is you can change world that is owning the map.

Imo, JP in WvW maps are not a right it’s a privilege that comes with fighting for it. Anyone in WvW is free to fight anywhere with any weapon available as long as not using exploit. Fair is not in WvW dictionary. You have to fight for camps, you have to fight for towers, you have to fight for keeps, you have to fight for castle and you also have to fight for JPs if you desire it. And those who desire badges for legendary only and don’t care about pvp, legendary is for people who have done all aspects of the game not only pve.
I understand your concern. But if I were SBI I would do the same. Ofc it’s not like they are not attacking JQ either. I will state my opinion here. Why JQ attack AB instead of hills? simple because we can treb AB from Garrison and easier to reach than Hills in terms of terrain. So our full force will be focusing there while defending other side. For SBI, attacking our Garrison and tower is harder than taking keep. Ofc I’m sure if JQ attack hills they will response full force and focus on us. But then again if they don’t have enough people then SBI would focus on red while holding their ground. Well that just my pure opinion on the situation.

C’mon guys stop with double teaming stuffs and flaming each other. My experience within last two days, I never faced IoJ on SBI BL, JQ BL and EB only have to fight SBI. Their present is low. So does ours while SBI comes with motivation and co-ordination. That’s why they win. We lose this round but I had fun. Let’s have fun again next round with BG.
Well, I was quite disappointed last night in SBI BL, IOJ present is 0 there and SBI have full control. and we are hitting greenwather, and greenlake and the camp near IOJ spawn side in pretty unorganized way. One commander come in hit lake and camp then go out so did the next one
some of the ppl trying to organize keep calling to re-group at spawn point but most don’t listen and keep charging to lake. In the end, we got outmanned buff. But It was fun hitting camps with about 4 ppl from FS. Once they gone I moved to JQ BL which is instance Q sign props to SBI organization on their flanks and getting down our seiges using mesmer are great. I just hope our organization is better in BL now.

Well I just want to say transfers are not only to JQ.
If I’m not wrong SYN from HoD moved to SBI.
SYN is a good WvWer and very organized plus they are oceanic.
I know because I play GMT+8 and most of my play time have to face them.
So please stop saying like JQ got more people because of transfers thus winning.
SBI can put up a fight because of transfers too.
Aside from transfer, we forgot that there is a high chance those level 80 ppl bored with PvE join WvW as well.

I had 1v1 against IoJ player this Saturday. I was trying to solo weather nodes, then that guy come by and attack me. I had fun underwater 1v1 combat. Then the fight ended on land. I down first, and he also down soon after. We threw rock each other and I died. Then that nice guy entertained me with a dance
We are having 3-way ground battles in EB. It’s so fun that I forgot the time.

How do the logouts stop you from taking towers and keeps exactly? How can someone loging out affect your server’s score? Its a matter of perspective. When someone logs out when I’m running after them, I grin.. heck it makes me even chuckle. If they log out while I’m taking there resource depot, I love it.
I approve. I have the same thinking as you do.
Logout issue doesn’t bother me at all in w3. What matters is we got to capture/defend objectives successfully. Same for jumping puzzle camping. They’ll just weaken their server.
But it would be annoying in sPvP. Just like anet said, if timer is not working, it should be fixed.
I’d just like to say today was the first time I saw an influx of these transfers. Their constant insulting of people who i’ve gotten to know through playing on JQ since the start is just crazy. If you didnt put in the time and effort to make this server what it is please do us a favor and go back to where you came. It is absolutely ridiculous how these many people can come to OUR server and disrespect OUR players that brought us to where we are. I hope anet closes these free xfers and puts a 2 week CD on being able to do it.
It’s very sad news if it’s happening as you say. Our WvW community just getting better after we tired to build up ever since we lost to HoD on 1st one week match. I hope anet put longer cold down for server transfers.

The keyword here is “organized”. I’m a JQ player. I have to agree that HoD is organized and deserved to be first. But It’s not like it can’t be beat. JQ WvW guilds need to communicate and work together, or form a pack with other sever to beat HoD. C’mon, it’s more enjoyable to beat the first rather then joining them, at least for me.
If you want to play a mmorpg which makes you the hero. Go play SW:TOR
well imo, ppl are not satisfied for not being hero. just that Trahearne is hero but very badly made character and does not feel like hero at all. If he is more passionate and more emotional and do more work as a hero (like sacrifice a limb or so), then i’m sure players would have satisfied.

My necro is MM build. Send minions to front line and cast conditions. But it works well when a lot of ppl are at front line. I can get the kills. The problem is once some enemy noticed you or your group about to lose, run fast or your dead.
it’s funny, My character is necro, ppl complain how nacro skills are trash in nacro thread, then I checked Ele thread and found complaint about how weak Ele in pve, then come to Mesmer thread and found out Mesmer’s whine as well. So I stop going to other profession thread :/
Guys, a little nasty tip for dagger nacro WvWer, use “Spectral Grasp” (range is 1200) to pull the low hp guy to you and kill it with dagger while he/she figuring out “where the hell am I”. It works!
And by broken… I mean that absolutely wretched auto-attack sound! It forces me not to use the staff and that is completely overpowered.
