ive read most but not all posts and what i wanna say yes the game is melee unfriendly. most of the time you pass it in ranged.
if you are doubledecked in melee, you can usually only participate when you are after them – they withdraw or if u pick some loner explorer.
as far our melee vs other professions, one on one, sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Game Loading Time is longer after Oct 7 patch (SSD)

Every loading takes much time now, i dont know which patch started the issue but its at least 2 weeks now. The loading was one thing i loved comming from SWTOR and now i end up looking frustated at the loading screen.
Not SSD here, normal HDD

i wanna see you more in WVW. atm Gandara is the suck and we need organized guilds running the maps and the rest of the ppl.

I tried it too in spvp and pve (L23 currently). in Spvp its very nice and you swift between attunements activating attacks. i like the mobility and the rogue-type of gameplay. In pve it works even better!!

@Wethospu:
In everygame there is a fixed DR (Damage Reduction) percentage, next to a numerical armor value.
For ex. saying 7000 armor equals to 53% Damage Reduction.
Is it me or the values in this game are obscure and tell no tale?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
But as far as i can tell, the only thing a bigger stack does is applying the dot faster, and not increase its damage.
Power directly beafs up the tick’s damage and the number of bleeds only correlates how many ticks it ticks per second.
Anyone else?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Anyone knows how much tougness/defence equals to DR at level 80?
Also how much condition damage equals to actual damage dealt?
Also on warrior, is the number of bleeds affecting the number of ticks per second ? And the condition damage affects the damage of each individual bleed?

Still looks fabulous to me..
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
but signets are also good albeit “selfish”. Power signet → more damage, Dodge signet → higher dodge refill, and finally mitigating signet. Its good when you go pure dps, be it dots or direct damage.
Ive used flags with my dps gear/traits, untraited though, and the only flag i really like which is in fact a hasle is the compassion shield that action#2 heals+regen.
Latelly with everybody on exotics or semi-exotics, being a pure-selfish warrior doesnt really affect the team.

I get this issue some patches now, especially while in dungeons.
After death, when i teleport back to a WP there is a change i get instadead for no apparent reason.
Please fix it, its annoying.

a tad out of topic but my 2500k at 3.3Ghz boosted at 4Ghz is remarkably stable at 1.13V. Low power and low heat

What is being done about AMD CPU performance?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: seithan.4823
@Soulwatcher, please don’t post your own misguided ideas as facts. None of what you said can be remotely backed up by any sort of actual data.
I also have 2 machines in this house, neither of which use a “1k processor” and neither of which have any FPS issues.
Well Soulwatcher has a point, my machine is strong enough and still at heavy RVR will drop bellow 20, somewhere from 15-20 actually. I didnt expect much because in MMORPGs this crap happens always (while on other type of games for example BF3 never happened and will never happen), but still he is NOT talking garbage. My i5 is much better than his AMD but still my fps is not “comfortable”.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Could anyone explain why some times in cities or RvR both GPU and CPU usage drops low, resulting to low FPS? Anyone has an answer on that?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I know a warrior who went heavy on condition damage and he claims his ticks are quite high (and hypothetically his overall damage aswell).
Myself i follow a berserker spec but i have 2-3 items with condition damage. Its not big deal since they actually tick low but they tick fast enough (traited for longer bleed duration and my second weapon combo is sword/axe, first is longsword) and i think it complements overall damage.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Desolation server aswell. and twice trying to enter exploration mode with friends from Underworld and Gandara, it was the same thing. And its closing to 2 weeks now since it broken down.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Its a rant. ofcourse it is.
How can it be otherwise for such overbloated unstoppable machine?
Everybody who plays regular on WvW knows what im talking about.
Where is the balance between those two classes and where is the challenge?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
there are many times u just have to click to select the target. For casual play (is there a thing like that in GW2), i guess u can escape with sluggish tagging though the xpad but in wars like WvW i highly doubt you can really push your class to the limits without the traditional keyb/mice combo.
i have no problem with ppl who enjoy nevertheless.

Ability delay - 'Wai' or just Arenanet showing off their ability to code?
in Warrior

Man, if GW2 has ability lag, hop on to the SWTOR train and experience the ultimate lag, unplayable disconnecting gameplay.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
personally i use axe/axe and longsword with berserkers the classical glass canon build.
But on the other hand i use a tactic’s banner to provide that 1k+ heal to my team8s, not on CD but many times when my HP is low i back off and provide healing as much as i can.
The heal aint much on the banner , esp with no healing gear but its there even miniscule and it adds up with my regen signet.
I really like it in dungeons, plus u can chain healing with all 5 members of the group: Pick it up, use heal, drop it and another guy picks it up, use heal, drop it and so on and forth. Not bad at all when the team works as team.

basically when u click to mouselook OR click to place an aoe AND a mob happens to be under your mouse cursor it will deselect the fighting target and u have to manually trace him back.
I dont like that.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Well i concure with OP, the “dungeons” are just too strong for the abilities/cooldowns. Some like the challenge and i have no problem with it. Personally i cant cope with the no-trinity system well (yet) and i choose to skip this aspect of the game.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Damage wise , 2h Sword falls back sadly. Supposingly a 2hander ought to do much more damage than it currently does. Only 100Blades do nice damage and thats a cooldown to be used on a stationary target.
But it provides nice closing ins and outs. And thats the whole point of the long sword (in this game).
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I wont dwelve in every lack of information as the character sheet goes but id like to know about toughness for starters: How much armor equals to how much DR at L80.
If anyone knows please post
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
The longsword’s damage is that: Huntrend Blades. The rest of the attacks are quite low. I bought a Tier3 Cultural longsword only because the 1h axes cost the same PER weapon. Stupid but true. So it was one way ALTHOUGH i dislike the sword for the LOW damage.

One big issue that goes is the healing signet is only as good as when the damage is low.
Anywhere else the damage will be much higher PLUS the more than frequent conditions u must cleanse.
Hence mending is the way to go imo.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
i noticed the very same thing, my cpu cores stay around 60 most of the time while the video card is usually maxed out.
the odd thing is OCing my 580 gave no difference either! no thats wierd.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Seriously, this “CPU bound” argument has GOT to stop.
I concur; my cores never go over 60% in this game. Windows does provide this information real-time—use it instead of guessing.
I want a real answer. I run the game in snowy areas with like 60-100 FPS all maxed, supersampling, all that. Though in some areas, Bloodtide, Hinterlands I struggle and get 40-60 FPS, even worse in events.
“all maxed, supersampling, all that” is why. Reduce reflections, supersampling, shadows to get the performance you want. Software capabilities always exceed hardware capabilities.
I agree GW2 can use some optimisation options to eliminate FPS sags, like limiting overall number of particle effects and controlling fog effects independently.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I can say that i noticed no real FPS boost when i cranked my 3.3 up to 4Ghz.
On the other hand i notice that sometimes my fps is not that good and comming back i see that my 580 is maxed out!
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Yes, but benches clearly show the difference between 3.5 and 3.7GHz. It IS a way to boost performance and regardless. The matter still stands the game is chewing CPU and if the CPU is maxing out but the 680 is laughing it off then the 680 is bound to the CPU and and isn’t using it’s full potential, thus bottlenecking the performance to the CPU. Sure it can be optimized but at this current point the solution is to OC the CPU and hopefully get your frames to where you want them.
EDIT: His CPU has very capable potential of hitting 3.6 if not 3.8 and staying within desired temps. Do that for now until they optimize which will probably come after fixing bugs in game. In addition, try beta drivers to pinch some more frames if possible.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
mine got bugged as soon as the ship emerged from the water. Trahearne sais “get those cannons firing” which they do by themselfs (apparently not speaking to me?) and there is nothing to do. i just watch a battle that i take no place and it never ends.

How to create an overflow instance where there is none?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: seithan.4823
The problem is this: I want to play with friends from different servers (as advertised) but the only option is an overflow instance of the map to already exist.
If the area we choose to quest with is not overpopulated, so overflow instances haven’t created, then there is NO option to play with my friends, together.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
There is not much to be said, try different drivers and pray.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I think archetecture (buildings and etc) are “created” by the CPU and “painted” by the GPU. Hence at cities the frames drop alot and GPU usage accordingly (while at the same time CPU go at max).
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+

talking about laptops, heck i can load GW2 on my netbook, a dual core AMD FUSION chip at 1GHz!!!
Its 3-8frames but yes i can do these menial tasks of chatting, AH and etc
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Thing is sometimes the GPU will throttle to 80%+ load and at the same time the CPU will work a much lower load. That has the effect of good FPS.
But there are aplenty of times when the GPU will drop to 50% load or so and the CPU will work at 80% or higher. Meaning more heat for CPU and much much lower FPS.
Still, a 2550k working at stock speed should not get that high temperature, UNLESS your tower box is of low quality with no additional fans for correct air cycling and at the same time you are leaving to a rather warm country , for example Greece.
In Greece during the July we were experiencing temperatures around 40c, inside home, under shade. Outside you would get fried with more than 45c.
These extreme temperatures will strain any cooling configuration, be sure of that.
