sword/dagger = dagger/pistol is my main arsenal in wvw. using 30stealth/30acro/10trickery where burst damage doesnt come as first priority, but endurance, decent damage, aoe and etc.

Personally i think , the Ascended gear was a bad desicion. The game i thought, would be alot more like GW1 and alot less like any other MMO with non-stop progress/grind every 2-3months.
I like the addition of Dungeons, because of the way they are. I dont like the new gear grind though.
In a way , i agree with the OP that the character should stop progressing equip-wise and enjoy the world without the need to reequip a good balanced setup.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
The almost total absense of meaningful Emotes is kinda frustating. I use emotes and yes you can do /me (i think), but its not enough.
Need alot more emotes a bigger variety to socialize with people , be it your server or WvW.

I like the idea of Morphing into Monsters (or animals in general), something that doesnt really exist in Gw2 except as the Norn novelty forms.
Call me Druid from WoW or Adventurer from Anarchy Online, it was just plain fun to kick butt while in forms!
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
The combat log is … basic at best.
No options, no coloring for character, damage, type of damage. No nothing – yet. I hope we get some real info BECAUSE its an RPG after all and RPGs are all about numbers.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I never use hammer in PVP, since its very slow to actually deliver damage and offers me no mobility, only some CC if im lucky to apply them (chains and and ring). Mighty Blow is by no means a gap closer since it has animation start and end, which in practise makes you slower than actually running from point A to point B.
In PVE i find it excellent.
I fill the role of DPS/Tank/Buffer and Hammer always gets out to boost my healing income and at the same time providing Protection buff to my melee comrades.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
gonna test it out asap.
gtx580+ asus rampage iv GenZ/Gen3 + 2500k
edit: tried it and i get no fps increase whethere is “ON” or not.
On the other hand i get “zero” values on the build in VGA card on GPU-Z program. Which might mean that build in VGA is not active or something.
Although it is active in the BIOS.
Virtu was set up enabling Hyper and Vsync when GW2 runs, at D-Mode… no clue other than iGPU is not enabled.

U dont need Basilisk venom to do that. CnD + Steal followed by backstab, its one flowing action and you get no reaction time to counter it.

I actually just switched my main from a Thief to a Warrior, at least in PVE.
Not really because of damage, my Thief probably has better sustained, but Warrior survivability is just flat out better. More HP, better damage reduction, even better healing mechanics. Stealth is a powerful mechanic in PVP, but it falls short in PVE when compared to just having a better HP pool and better defense.
With that said, I feel Warrior is the closest class to be being “balanced”. I don’t think it’s OP, I think some other classes just have glaring flaws that need to be addressed.
i have guardian, warrior, thief.
Thief is my newest and fully geared aswell.
Its all about playstyle.
You want to fight like you gonna die the next second? Thats thief.
You wanna fight while browsing the forums? Thats Guardian.
Warrior sits somewhere in between. Good damage, good durability. By no means top damage. By no means a great tank (2 blocks + shield + 2 dodges without vigor boost). He is fair on everything, thats all.
My warrior although is the most played – rolled at 24 August, he is now the least played. If i want to roll a dungeon or WvW that will hawl kitten and keep my team mates alive, i roll with my Guardian.
If i want some crazy numbers, whether in a dungeon or WvW, i roll with Thief.

Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Thanx Tulisin, although can you be more specific with high synergized build?
Ive enchanted both daggers with might proc, and i guess the only windows open – normally that the will autoattack for greater change to proc, is those 3’’ outside stealth.
im guess you talk about more “combat” weapon choises like sword/pistol, sbow, or pp, right?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Do “on proc” sigils stack change percentage?
Can you stack might sigils for a hefty +60%?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I wouldn’t recommend relying on melee too much. You’ll probably want to be using shortbow most of the time. Some mobs are safer to melee than others, know when you can melee and when you need to keep your distance.
Have an escape button, like shadowstep or blinding powder ready.
Sword/pistol is nice against trash mobs.
Heartseeker spam on bosses that are below 25% is also really nice.
i play full melee in dungeons and loving it.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
yeah both skills, HS and DB have to be tweeked immidiatelly. In what way? Make em not “remembe” double taps and store em in queue. I mean u double tap HS and it does a double HS move. How can this be right? This is ability queuing. Give us the option to disable it at least – let the ppl who like it keep it.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
i find that pistolwhip from S/P combo provides alot of survivability and high DPS.
What i mean is, while the channel is active, nothing cant tough you because you will evade everything, aoe, direct damage, aoe on the ground, everything. Its a short window but you can spam it all day long with acro + trickery traits.
Its actually kinda amazing, you can tank alot like this, plus you have shadowstep to teleport back if things get ugly and roll back for heal or shadow heal.

About the LA overflow it just hits me wierd.
Overflow in LA stopped existing after 2-3 weeks post release. Then it hit back in the Karka event after two months period.
And it exists since then.
Seeing that the LFG has quite been low compared to the first weeks, i wonder:
Has ANET reduced the limit of allowable players per instance of LA? Maybe thats the reason we get overflow? Reduced population per instance to help the event (or maybe post event, after the farcry of major perfomance issues) but not nearly as much players per instance as it were pre-Event?

Especially before and after the Southsun Cove – Karka event.
There are so few people left – compared to what was like 2 months ago.
I see very few dungeon spams in Lion’s any more, less and less people moving in the place, and im not talking about Overflow periods of time.
Even fractal requests have dropped by alot.
Is it Gandara(EU) or is it a general issue?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I run CoF on 3 characters, P1+P2.
On first character im sure i gained 60+60
On second it was 30+30 – Which is interesting since, running the same path – normally – rewards you with 20 marks.
On third character it was 60+30.
Honestly i cant see a pattern here.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+

Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Any experienced Thief could tell me which armor/weapon/trinket combination will get me the below stats please?
power 1839 (attack 2820)
prec 1725 (crit change 43+ crit multiplier 20)
tough 916 (armor 1980)
vit 1245 (HP 14095)
The above values are pvp amulet. No traits are included.

Attack:2305
Crit Change: 56% / Multiplier: 33%
Armor: 2.455
Health: 16.825
Traits : 0/30/0/25/15
I like it alot, the damage is very high compared to warrior or guardian i play.
At some point when i bunch up gear im gonna give glass a shot aswell.

Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
So i have been lvling a thief and here is what i have noticed if try to melee at low lvls you get slaughtered. The short bow is the only viable weapon for lvling at lower lvls when u melee it requires you to stealth which resets mobs so their health regens. Its pretty tuff to do melee compared to my warrior or guardian an even my ranger. Anyways im not complaining cause once you get traits unlocked it becomes a better option to run daggers but at the beginning say 10-40ish i have noticed your way to squishy to melee. Thats just my opinion after lvling 3 other professions to 80.
I had the same issues. Right before i hit 20, i had problems meleeing but with an extra utility open and a weapon combo of dagger/pistol + dagger/dagger, i can stay in melee 1vs1 as long as i like due to pistol’s blind.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
best tanky weapon imo is the hammer. u renew your protection buff all the time and thats 33% increase of your health.
mix knights and vitality/power/toughnes gear and trait for Altruistic healing and u can tank and dps at the same time.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
just tested and letting options at “high” but reducing resolution to minimum did nothing to increase FPS. so its actually down to CPU which is bad code.
There is a thread that explains the way gw2 works, thats not really using hyperthreading in an optimal way and while a thread/core is loaded to full, the rest of the threads are idling. fix this = fix fps issues
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
I don’t want to sound as prick.
But seriously By many freaking Posts out there many ppl were claiming that:FULL reflections is major hit in FPS ( Some reported that from 100+ fps in no reflections at all to full they lost 50-60 FPS ).
Also Put freaking rendering to Native. You really don’t need SUPERSAMPLE.Also put kittening LOD distance to low/medium. You don’t need high it just makes Your GPU work to hard for result You don’t even notice. Im sure You don’t even know what LOD means otherwise You wouldn’t put it on Max…
LOD makes no difference to me. Which is wierd all in all as it should
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Gs leap + sword’s teleport and optional JI. GS’s pull is also serves to get em close to us.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
Basically yeah, since the Vigorous Precision is only applied to self, you loose alot of potential healing to yourself without using Empowering Might. You could easilly ditch all the crit line and keep 15pts, your crit change is more than fine.
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
i’ll stick to BIOS OC…that asus-oc tool isn’t accurate…it always freezes my PC when doing even the slightest voltage changes
But if it wasnt accurate, wouldnt the value that shows in the Asus Tweak be different with the one in GPU-Z?
Rig#2: Core2duo@3Ghz/ 4GB DDR2/ 9800gtx+
personal experience with my GTX 580:
i get around 10FPS more when overclocking to 888Mhz
also OC’ed my memory clock to 1100/2200/4400Mhz (GPU-Z would show 1100MHz and MSI Afterburner would show 2200MHz)
thats a summed up performanca boost of about 15% in-game
of course, a customized fanspeed is neccessary
also, make sure you GPU gets enough power, or you might see random game or driver crashes or shutdownsand don’t set rendersmapling in-game to “supersample”
a GTX580 just can’t handle it and the quality difference is absolutely minimal – not worth it, to make it work 4 times harderi also got 10-15FPS more by messing around at the nvidia-cp:
make sure "Antialiasing-Transparency is set to “off”
“Power management mode” to “prefer max performance”
“multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “single display performance mode”
“texture filtering – quality” to “performance”
and “ambient occlusion” to “off”if you now disable/lower reflections in-game and set rendersampling to “native”, you won’t need any GPU overclocking anymore
a GTX580 isn’t meant to be overclocked in the first place…
im using Asus overclocking utility, which stands true as it shows up core speed and memory in GPU-Z.
core speed 930, 1.1mV, 4400 Memory.
Ofcourse custom set fanspeed.
Sampling to Native. FXAA enabled, it has no noticable FPS hit, and its also quite ugly to be honest – but fast.
As i said i see no difference at all. The thing is while in the zerg fights in WvW i drop to 15fps, i get alot more when i lower all details to minimum (perfomance) in GW2 options.
Can i presume that GPU bottlenecks then?
If you get more FPS in the demanding area with lower settings then yes your GPU is the problem or driver. I have a lower GPU and have no problems at all around 35FPS is the big zergs and still use a driver form 11/12/11 AMD
i5 2500k 4.4 6970 950/1425
16GB 2133 ram
SSD
Seems so. I could boost my CPU higher to maybe 4.3 or 4.5 , but my Tower totally sux and i have poor vendilation.
Im also using a 212TX aftermarket cooler but it screams for an additional fan, on the other side of the heatsink.
For all these reasons of poor heat management, i prefer not to go any higher in the clocks of the CPU.
On the other hand the GPU remains largely inaffected, whether i run on stock speed, around 780 or 930. Havent managed to procure a stable OC at 950 with 1.1mv though and i dont wanna push any higher.
The video card has a very nice internal mechanism that reverse to stock speed if for some reason the OC fails (or is it the Asus Tweek program?). The screen goes black for a moment and the videocard resets to stock settings, and you carry on gaming :>

Hello guys, im just wondering, anyone noticing and FPS improvement while having the video card overclocked?
Im pushing up the core from 782Mhz to 930Mhz and i notice no difference at all, either on gameplay or by just testing the framerate at a “stale” area, with no ppl comming in or out.
