What I find funny is that as a power based engineer, I mainly use pry bar for the direct damage yet the confusion often deals more damage than anything else I use.

Hey I don’t set any schedules. I’m just saying Kaineng just doesn’t have the players on any maps right now. There’s unupgraded structures on TC BL to attack vs 3 waypoints and full upgrades on FA BL.
And you realize almost every day last week, TC had what was seemingly near a full-map zerg in KN’s border running around? Maybe they want to return the favor. They’ve tried just defending KNBL and it simply doesn’t work. They got overrun every night.
They only have the people for TC BL. Outmanned in EB/KNBL/FABL. They can’t hold off an attack on KNBL regardless.

Probably the bugged spatial surge. It likes to kill all sorts of random siege in a 3 mile radius.
It’s not there, but it’s getting there. Hopefully people will want to push harder during the week, but in my experience over the tiers it’s been the opposite and we have a rather poor midweek showing. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still competition on the field, but lately there’s a pretty strong feeling of being outmanned overall. It could definitely be worse, though. If FA/TC weren’t tied up pressuring eachother in their borders, I think Kaineng would be at a much bigger point deficit. Won’t stop us from trying to keep up obviously, it just seems grim, as Sarabi might have slightly overstated.
Kaineng is falling pretty far behind at this point. I think the biggest reason is the latest WvW patch drawing people back in. Kaineng having formed together with a lot of “hardcore” WvW guilds didn’t see as many people come back, because they were still playing. TC on the other hand has a much, much larger PvE/casual crowd that seems to have come back to grind wxp and play now. And from seeing the large TC zergs and the level of organization they show, it’s no surprise that casual players want to come back and play with them every night now. As much as I hate their deathzergs of death, they’re some of the friendliest people I’ve seen in a PvP setting and their commanders really draw them together.
Well I am terrible at dueling but at least I gave them something to beat on!

Personally I think waypoints should remain contested for an additional 5 seconds after a defense event ends. This removes the stupid free waypointing during a siege.
When cannon mastery is upgraded, at least past level 2, cannons seem to do LESS damage to siege targets than before. It works against players normally, but the reduction in siege damage is a very substantial loss, as it is one of the biggest reasons to use a cannon. Is this being looked into?

This is spatial surge. It’s bugged and kills siege through walls a lot. If you see small numbers popping up and adding into a big one, that’s your cause.
Well having a massive population advantage wasn’t enough, so they’ve recruited a few more below average zerg guilds to help boost their quantity over quality advantage

Supply is added to you immediately on kill, not when you loot the chest. Coin is also instantly added to your inventory when you kill the dolyak.

The only siege that really seems to despawn quickly are trebuchets. I’ve never had an issue with anything else, unless your team places bazillions or something.
Yep. It’s absolutely terrible. Any guardian is going to be using a lot of various light fields and a lot of aoe in zergs are going to be blast. That’s aoe retal, not even intentionally. As an engineer in full PVT gear, I can still lose 50-60% of my health easily in one grenade barrage simply due to retaliation. You used to be able to mitigate it somewhat with health leeching food, but with the nerf to that, you’re better off playing a different class.
Until someone blows all 1700 supply in your keep building flame rams to farm wxp.
Hey guys! Guess what I did for reset? I logged in, I killed some KN and some FA … I even died a time or two. I placed siege and defended some towers and camps. And then, for good measure, I logged off.

Last night I picked up cannon mastery rank 2(supposedly 25% more cannon damage). However when shooting rams and golems today, I seem to have been doing considerably LESS damage to those hard targets than before. It seems to work fine against player targets, though.
I wonder if they’re the two I killed a bunch of times trying today
Just wondering, because it definitely is right now, even without trying to target it or knowing it’s there sometimes. And at pretty big ranges, too.

Between retaliation, every mesmer spec’ing into confusion, and the mass spam of feedbacks/reflect walls, I do more damage to myself in almost any encounter than enemies do to me. Positioning and superior movement be kitten when passive defenses are your biggest enemy. Retaliation’s definitely the worst of them though. As an engineer my best viable weapon options versus groups are grenades or the flamethrower. Grenades throw 3 projectiles at once and flamethrower’s autoattack counts as 10 hits. I wear vit on every piece of armor and I’ve lost 2/3rds of my health just by using grenade barrage on a group of enemies.
I’m not sure why they didn’t put an ICD on retaliation when they put an ICD on omnomberry pie healing. It was the only way I could actually continue attacking in these situations.
Here are a few counters to retaliation:
1. Condition damage
2. Single massive hits
3. Boon strippingAny of these three are killers to a retaliation build. I understand you don’t want to change your build to deal with retal. But to say that you refuse to have any of these three options in it…is just lazy.
The problem isn’t “retaliation builds”. Retaliation is just everywhere. Between various AoE abilities that give retaliation, and Light+Blast finishers that very very often aren’t even intentionally done(tons of guardian abilities plus a very large amount of aoe attacks) throw the boon everywhere. If you think there’s any viable way to keep retaliation off of a large group for a sustained amount of time, you’re deluding yourself. I have and do use “massive hits” but my options there are more limited and mostly on longer cooldowns. A lot of autoattacks are punished far harder even though they do the same damage simply because they’re divided into smaller hits. And condition damage is like you’re just grasping for straws here. I have no way to apply conditions without.. hitting my target. Condition grenades? If you can explain how I can do that without doing the exact same retaliation damage to myself, feel free. Condition pistol? Sure, I can unnecessarily limit my damage to a small target base.
If you have any other bad advice, please feel free to type it up. Just stop posting on the forums and leave it in notepad.

Guard defense is 1% less damage from guards per rank
Mercenary’s Bane is 1% more damage to and less damage taken from mercenaries per rank
Siege bunker is 1% defense against siege attacks per rank
Siege might is 1% more siege damage done per rank
Supply capacity is 1 extra supply per rank
Cannon Mastery is a bit different
1 – Basic Fire removes boons
2 – .5% more damage(seems low..)
3 – Grapeshot deals increased bleed damage
4 – Increases all cannon attack radii(bigger blast zone)
5 – Longer Chill duration
Ballista mastery works differently too
1 – New skill unlocked, spread shot
2 – Increases ballista damage by 2%
3 – Fires Faster bolts
4 – Increases ballista range
5 – Increases Shatter Shot radius(I assume this means splintering bolt?)

Only on public forums can you find people stupid enough to try to defend a game’s bugs and claim it’s just a tactical use of mechanics.
You can’t log in to the WvW chests. You enter WvW only by queueing and start at your team’s hill.
It’s probably someone using a hack to teleport to the chest’s coordinates. Just report them when you see it.
