Grabbing bags is annoying in wvw

in WvW

silverfire.2547

What if something like this existed — would it help solve loot collection issues?

L.O.O.T. Golem Mark 20
Levitating Object Oversight Tool

20-slot bag (Soulbound and Unique) with 18/15/12/8-slot variants, named Mark 18 for 18-slot and so forth.

Sold for 2000 gems (or potentially sell different sized kits) with runes of holding dictating size in a Mystic Toilet recipe.

Behaves like any other 20 slot bag if you press F to collect loot. When it isn’t full, has an auto collect function that collects loot (limited search radius 900-1200 maybe), but can only fill its “own” bag slots and does not respect the collection rules from other bags (junk items don’t go to junk bags). Makes a sound periodically when it’s at full capacity (reuse C.L.E.A.N. 5000/Rooba sound assets to save on development costs, perhaps include an easter egg referring to it). Resumes auto-collection when you manually move items out of those bag slots.

Potentially visually differentiate larger bag sizes with particles. Maybe also use rarity level to denote capacity.

Potential sample Mystic Toilet recipes:
1x L.O.O.T. Golem Kit
1x Superior Rune of Holding
20x Mystic Coin (1 coin per bag slot)
200x Silver Ingot (10 ingots per bag slot)

Visually behaves like a mini-pet to other players.

I’ve never understood people who don’t kill everything on sight in the jump puzzle. They’re enemies who are going to use that siege against you. They’re enemies who are going to turn those badges into cheap exotics to bash your face in with.

Refusing to attack any and every enemy in the puzzle, to me, is a bigger show of disrespect than corpse dancing. It’s essentially conveying the impression that I don’t think you’re worth the time killing you.

By all means attack everything or die trying, regardless of the odds.

…Besides, people who struggle with the dark room are a lot more fun to kill — they’ve spent so much time in there, they’re worth 60WXP again.

You should put this up on the initial post, might spark some interest to some poor oceanic guilds.

I disagree — the point was to point out that we’re interested in receiving transfers from these coverage zones. We weren’t actively inviting interest via compensation, but rather simply willing to look into it if that’s what would be a deciding factor for someone on the fence.

Not entirely surprise at our lack of numbers as of late — a lot of the fair-weather players who only wanted to be around for the bootstompings are probably back at it in PvE.

If the new PvE patch is worthwhile at all, we could be in for a rough next couple weeks.

Trebuchet's need a nerf

silverfire.2547

Trebs are fine. What is needed is for projectile reflecting abilities to work on siege equipment (namely trebs and cats, not ballistae).

This would be bad. In fact, they need to make it so swirling winds does not stop trebs and catas.

I’m not even going ever use a focus on my Ele so when someone says, “Focus 4, Focus 4”, I can say sorry, I don’t have one.

That’s why when I’m on WvW, I always make sure to carry at least 4 level 1 blue Mighty Focus (available for pennies on the TP) — I’ve had a couple eles pull this excuse on me and immediately receive a focus in the mail all while calling out enemy mortar/treb impact times on mumble.

Teabagging, reportable?

in WvW

Posted by: silverfire.2547

silverfire.2547

Teabagging just inflates the other person’s ego at the expense of someone else. It serves no other purpose…

First and foremost, I fail to see a problem with inflating one’s ego at the cost of another’s. It’s a game and to the victor belong the spoils, whether they be material or psychological.

That aside, there’s a reason why several games far more competitive this one force screen obstruction or force respawn within a certain timer.

If you’re willing to abuse the lack of such a mechanism to spot for trebs, you should most certainly be willing to take the grief that can and will be headed your way. I’ve spent at least ten years playing FPS games in which the game developers actually facilitated in-game griefing with functions intended (and typically labeled) as taunting and humiliating. It actually shocks and surprises me if someone doesn’t try to do something to my corpse if I’m there for more than 5 seconds. Apparently, now we live in a time where we expect our hands to be held gently with every fragile sensibility held to the utmost highest regard, and any small deviation from our perfect vision of a nanny state warrants a whine thread.

silverfire.2547

I’ve mentioned this once or twice in another thread, but specific to counter-ram tactics, placing one of your own rams in front of your own door typically prevents enemy rams from doing damage to your door until your own ram is destroyed, giving you a minute or two of extra reaction time. Even superior rams need about 2-3 minutes of alone time before they can break an enemy ram, and distracting an enemy zerg with siege they have to break first helps increase the likelihood you can make it into the tower alive.

I’ve seen this same exact fix idea posted elsewhere and can’t really find anything wrong with it:

The thief is perfectly fine. Our burst damage is completely in line with other classes. Survivability isn’t an issue for us because of stealth, we are supposed to rinse light armor classes and one shot them. Without perma stealth it has got a bit more difficult so they should probably fix that so that no one can see us ever.

I’ve hit similarly speced guardians for about as high on Kill Shot out of a Valkyrie+Cavalier warrior build and about 10-13k out of a full round of shatters + Blurred Frenzy at the same time.

I’d actually love to see the Badge of Honor vendor moved to an NPC that only spawns when your team has fully upgraded SM, and only when its waypoint is not contested.

That way even if you cheat to get your badges by running the jump puzzle instead of murdering people, the other servers can still deny you your legendary by fighting over the castle.

That and maybe, just maybe the carebears will help us keep those annoying door to door thieves and rangers away from trying to sell us Shamwow.

Saying you want to win just because it makes someone else feel bad is absolutely sad and I would not want to have your conscience later in life.

Some of the most happiness-infused examples of this include killing people in the jump puzzle when I’ve seen them struggle with the dark room while taking shortcuts personally, and anyone who’s near the end chest.

One particular charr who already had a legendary comes to mind — someone told me that two hours after I’d killed him in the dark room, he was still lying there dead when they went through.

My point is would that win in Madden mean anything to you if you were playing against a 2 year old who could barely press the buttons let alone provide any kind of strategic or technical challenge. And would you still try as hard to pull off that win rather then just having fun playing against said 2 year old and just messing around.

Not ashamed of admitting I would still try hard against a 2 year old just to win.

Meaningless scoreboard or not, just knowing that at least one person feels disappointed or hurt from not winning makes it worth it to me.

WvW for leveling and what is your view on it?

in WvW

silverfire.2547

A few nights ago was the first time on community teamspeak where I heard a commander specifically NOT want any upleveled players. It didn’t get as bad as an equipment check but that’s where it’s headed.

There are times where it is highly preferred to have people on their best toons and not on low level alts. Reset night is one example or running smaller scale operations where skill and ability is more important then zergball numbers.

Not to mention that not all upleveled classes were created equal.

Thief and Mesmer are classes that come to mind as having particularly noticeable disparities between a fully leveled character and an upscaled character.

In fact, given that I’m usually in PvE only while WvW is queued, it’s psychologically reinforced every single time as something terrible that should not ever happen.

Ok zerging is fine, and it works to win.. That is great, and I have no problem with it.. The thing I don’t get is say you have 1 NSP guy running around not even capping anything… You are running around in your own BL(that you own all of) with 20 guys and run across him.

Do you 1- LOL LOOT and all run him over or 2- Jump around in circles and someone engages him 1 on 1. SF -always- picks #1, which is annoying.

Just to offer a little insight into this from the other side, whenever I’m playing my warrior, me and my friend on his guardian are usually only 5-10 seconds ahead of the zerg, so I’ll literally jump on anything that isn’t a PvE mob with a red nameplate, regardless of the odds. If I can force them to waste enough cooldowns, they either get bulldozed or have to stay out of the zerg’s way, which is a small victory towards whatever we’re pushing to take.

I remember several cases this week when I’ve gotten groups of 4-8 to commit simply because they were presented with what they saw as for instance a 6v2. They didn’t have the information that I did that it was soon going to become a 32v6.

Even if I end up falling behind into the middle of the zerg, the question of “is he looking for a 1v1” never actually passes my mind. IMHO the only important thing is that anything with a red nameplate is to be killed on sight. Whether it’s in the jump puzzle or diving into the middle of a 30-man zerg to down a commander while his friends down and then spike me or disrupting a 1v1 in progress while my teammate who was in that 1v1 complains about the disruption, red is to be killed on sight.

On the other side of things, if a 1v1 organically happens without any of that silly bowing kitten, I won’t run, and I’m still gonna fight it to the death and expect my corpse to be danced on even if it was a challenging duel because that’s exactly what I’d be doing.

If the WvW scoring system didn’t incentivize running up the score as high as you possibly can, I suspect I wouldn’t take such a single-minded kill everything that moves stance on things, but after 16 weeks of needing to secure a 3:1 margin of victory week after week, I’m no longer inclined to allow anyone even the remote possibility of killing a yak or soloing a camp if it’s within my power. Even if it means dying a lot on my terrible at 1v1 build that’s designed around linebacking for the zerg.

silverfire.2547

OP raises as interesting point. Would be cool if you could actually designate which conditions take priority when removed.

Should not happen. There’s a reason why Sharper Images helps even with confusion bomber builds. It helps make sure that you put a ‘cover condition’ on the stack in front of the confusion to help make sure the confusion is at the bottom of the last-in-first-out stack of conditions. That way condition removals taking the first X off the top of the stack are less likely to adversely affect the confusion stacks you worked so hard to put on them.

Best Ascended Utility Infusion For WvW?

@Aten.8046 and Jorase.5892:

Eldritch Scroll recipes almost always guarantee a 7 silver per SP (or better) profit.
The Anomaly is very resistant to “seasonal” price fluctuations and typically gets you about 15 silver per SP.

Those are both low-risk ways of turning SP into $$.

There’s quite a few other recipes out there of varying risk levels.

A couple weeks ago, T5 dust → T6 dust → Master Maintenance Oil transmute chain netted 68 silver/SP profit according to the mathematical average transmute return. That’s a particularly risky venture, though. At the same time, the potential maximum loss was losing 62 silver per SP spent while the maximum profit was about 3 gold/SP.

Rotating the colors should never happen without significant changes to how EB is laid out.

Summarizing what I’ve posted in a couple other threads on the same subject, Green is the least defensible keep, Red has the most defensible one, and Blue is somewhere in the middle. The outer ring towers for green are also the least defensible with either cover or wide open approach paths. Outer ring towers are protected by at least one chokepoint for red. Blue team has either a wide, but open choke or two smaller chokepoints coming into their outer ring towers.

Giving the winning team the red side of EB is horrifyingly unbalanced. Rotating the borderlands shouldn’t be a problem though, unless ANet managed to introduce differences between three seemingly identical maps.

What Noroz said is true though. I’ve been more level-headed than most in this thread but really your EB crew was a failiure last night.

I’m going to preface my post with thank you for taking Stonemist.

We were siege capped literally all day and had to make our gains on the backs of golems alone or PvDoor. We tried to build siege of all kinds at every location and it only worked every once in awhile. Even at that badge farm at Langor, it took us about 25 minutes to get the first treb print successfully put down on the ground.

It’s a miracle we even took anything at all. As you guys probably found out when you captured it, SM was armed to the teeth. Almost every 1000 unit radius was hitting its 5 siege cap inside the lord room and probably out of good habits, people were constantly refreshing them. Literally all night we were walking up to towers and having this same exact conversation:

“Alright lets get some AoE on the walls and see if it cools down enough to throw down a ram”
“OK get ready to get this ram up ASAP that area is still super hot”
“Kitten it I can’t put down a ram… weren’t rams in a different siege limit entirely?”
“Can we put down a cata somewhere? … nope.”
“Supply camp has 100/100 let’s just see where a golem can take us to…”
“Well… half HP left and it’s a paper gate, I guess it’s PvDoor time. Keep heals spammed up front and constant AoE up top”

That. All night.

Now that SM is out of the picture while the undermanned US Morning shift tries to hold what they can, we can start assessing where all our siege is and finally get some momentum going again in EB. I know ET and FC made fun of us for months for being a PvDoor server, but we were actually forced to do it for real starting Sunday night.

I still don’t understand why people feel the need to object to a shift in the metagame in this tier.

If your server needs you to form ranks and push, you better form ranks and push if you want to win.

Personally I enjoyed playing months of small group tactics with my mesmer outside of the zerg while we were down in T8. Then the T2/T1 transfers arrived and my server needed me to function as part of the zerg, so I picked up a decent medium to large group warrior build.

Is it my favorite thing to play? Absolutely not.

Is it what my server needs me to do? Yes.

If you’re not willing to bear the weight your server needs you to carry, don’t go looking for a lighter weight. Just let someone else do it.

When high tier zergballs swooped down and sat us down hard last reset night, we adapted. Why? We still wanted to win.

Regarding letting people go about their business in the jump puzzle: being nice isn’t always the right thing to do, especially if it will directly contribute to losing.

No thanks. I need something more dramatic than Dolyak Tinctures to celebrate with whilst spawn camping.

Also, your guild is now KoS in all JPS’s for several HoD guilds, just FYI.

I’m disappointed that there’s anyone that isn’t kill on sight at all.

Not killing enemies in the puzzle is tantamount to letting them take your keep while you stand on the walls and watch.

Any score update from Mid Bro and Little Bro?

Hoping to see you guys up here soon — at least in the last few months, your zergs stood their ground instead of scattering at the first sign of incoming.

Any Solutions to the Skill Lag in WvW?

Solution against skill lag: Get out of stacked top tier servers…

T7 EB was full of skill lag this past weekend. Not too bad when people were just converging on SM, but the moment SM out is open, skill lag extends about as far as halfway between spawns and keeps.

Couldn’t even try to use skills to get back to SM faster.
