Can anyone really see through the clutter?

It was my first time trying out Dwayna yesterday. I went on my ele. Got oneshot or nearly oneshot more than a few times since I couldn’t see what the boss was actually doing, and only managed to dodge a few of her attacks.

This really needs to be fixed :c. Effects aren’t like this in other games. Sure, they are pretty here, but that’s meaningless to me if it means I can’t see boss tells.

If you’re talking about the statue rather than the Risen Priestess… I find it easier to see her tells than most bosses. Use staff on your ele, stay at range, pull the camera back as far as it will go and pan up. Her one ranged attack involves lifting a hand and sending out a bunch of light-effects that target pretty much everyone there. Both the hand and the light effects are above the particle blur and are not hard to see if you are panned back and up.

Yeah, I’m a D/D build, so being right on top of her, it’s difficult to see. Definitely going to use ranged next time, but we really shouldn’t have to use ranged weapons just to be able to see the boss. ._.

Odd thing is, on some bosses, spell effects aren’t overpowering. Oaks, for example, aren’t completely engulfed in flames the whole time. You can see them pretty easily. Smaller bosses, though, and even some other large ones are really hard to see through the effects. I really wonder why they don’t just do the same thing they did with oaks to the rest of the champs/bosses…unless it’s more complicated than it seems, for some reason.

Two People LF PvX Guild (NA, any server)

My boyfriend (Jack) and I (Cat) are looking to join a PvE/WvW guild. We are currently located on Sorrow’s Furnace, but want to transfer to another server once we find a guild we like and have enough gold saved up – unfortunately we can’t afford the $ to transfer right away.

Info about us:

-23 (myself) and 28 (Jack) years of age.
-I like cats. Jack likes ponies (and sometimes turtles).
-We are very talkative (albeit I am very shy until I get to know a new community D;). We’re chronically sarcastic, so a guild with a good sense of humor is a must. We both have mics and like talking on voice chat – it helps people get to know each other!
-Jack is more casual, while I’m more of a semi-hardcore player. I’m on daily at various times, while he is less active but still logs in at least a few times a week in the evenings.
-We both enjoy frequent WvW and dungeons/fractals/mapcompletion/generalsillinessinPvE. We’ve only run a few dungeons before (in PUG form ;-;) and haven’t done any fractals yet, but we’re looking forward to starting them. In WvW, we’ve only really run in large-scale groups, but will probably be happy with smaller-scale WvW so long as it’s organized.
-I have two level 80s, a level 7x guardian that will be 80 soon (though I only made it for WvW), and a lowbie mesmer that I’m in the middle of leveling. I’m still trying to decide on a main, but it’s looking like either my Necromancer or Mesmer will win in that respect. Jack has a level 80 warrior.
-We play builds and classes that we find fun, not always what’s “the best” for DPS or WvW. We don’t like being pigeonholed into playing a build that we don’t enjoy – if you’re not having fun, what’s the point of playing, right?
-We’re the type of people who will offer a good drop to guildmates before putting it on the TP. More often than not, we give things away for free. We don’t expect this from a guild, of course, as we’re not looking for freebies here, but that’s just the way we’ve always personally operated.
-We like guild events! Whether they’re guild bounties/rushes or just meeting for general randomness, we like playing with guildmates.
-We are willing to represent 100% of the time (excluding our personal guild banks, of course).

What we’re looking for:

-An adult guild.
-Small-to-medium sized, ~75-250 members – no more than 300 at the very most.
-A close-knit community that’s friendly and welcoming.
-We are not looking to transfer to one of the low pop servers. We are wary about transferring to one of the more popular WvW servers (such as Blackgate), but will consider any of them if the guild sounds like a good fit.
-A well-established guild. We’re not looking to join a brand new guild here (unless you’re an established community from another game just coming to GW2). We’ve lost several well-loved guilds in the past, in other games, due to disbandment or the whole guild just quitting the game, so we’d like to know that any guild we grow attached to will be around for a good long while, whether here or in other games.
-Regular VoIP is a must.
-Organized WvW and PvE is a must.
-Twilight Sparkles paraphernalia is a – okay, no, it’s optional, but Jack might cry if you don’t have it.

Essentially, we’re looking for a welcoming community to call home – a guild that feels like family. We are not looking to be just another face in the crowd – that’s why we didn’t enjoy our previous guild. We also don’t want a guild that spams guild ads and accepts anyone and everyone that PMs them – we won’t balk at more extensive application processes, because we do believe that the “quality over quantity” mindset helps build more tightly-knit communities.

The dedication and loyalty we show to guilds we’ve grown attached to is something they’ve always loved about us in the past. We enjoy helping out guildmates whenever we’re able to, and we always try to make new members feel welcome and included.

If you think your guild might be a good fit for us, feel free to PM me here, or send me a PM in-game (storiessave.3807). We will have questions about any potential guilds, as we want to be as sure as we can that any guild we join will be one we’ll like. Answering any questions you might have about us is not a problem at all.

If you actually got through this whole post, I applaud you, you win ten internets, and we look forward to hearing from you!

(Disclaimer: Jack is not actually a brony, and if you offer MLP paraphernalia to him he just might bite you.)

Condition Damage Update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: storiessave.3807

I love my necro to death, but I’m a condi spec, and it’s really disappointing on world bosses or event champions that I barely do any damage. I’ve seen a lot of suggestions on these forums about how conditions could be balanced to actually allow us to do noticeable damage, and there are more than a few that would probably fix the issue entirely and wouldn’t require raising the 25 stack cap. If it really is true that raising it past 25 stacks would cause lag (which I’m not really sure I believe), there are other ways to remedy this, but we haven’t gotten any answers on it.

As it is, I usually have to bring my ele to world events in PvE if I don’t want to be the equivalent (or worse) of an power-built autoattacker that uses no skills whatsoever other than 1111111. Condi spec for necros is my favorite playstyle, but I feel so kitten in large groups.

What race is the "coolest" for eles?

in Elementalist

I love my female charr ele…but I have to agree with Treborlavok in that light armor on the race is terribad. It’s incredibly hard to find something that looks halfway decent on my ele. I love the animations for her, as well as the looks, but the armor definitely leaves something to be desired, and there’s a ton of armor in the game that clips horribly on charr. I’d go for sylvari if I ever made another ele.

Minions over powered, at least at low level?

in Necromancer

Posted by: storiessave.3807

storiessave.3807

The game doesn’t force you to use minions. I for one only used two minions up until ~15, and then I stopped using minions as utilities altogether. Only one I use now at 80 is Flesh Golem, but that’s more because there aren’t any other good PvE elites rather than wanting to actually use a minion.

I will say that Necromancer by itself is pretty kitten tanky compared to some other classes, so you won’t find much more danger playing without minions. Between Death Shroud and the high base health, I rarely had a problem taking on large groups of mobs while leveling. That was without using anything other than Flesh Golem, and before its massive hp buff.

I think it’s a bit much to expect them to balance minions every level all the way from level 5-79. They should be focusing on their viability at level 80 (which still needs work). Leveling is incredibly fast in this game, so there’s no point in balancing skills at level 20, unless something’s borderline broken in how OP it is, and I don’t believe low level minions are.

I don’t see a reason to lock people out of using multiple minions; that’s a build some people love. Minions aren’t an essential part of playing a Necromancer, so I don’t see the problem. Just because you don’t enjoy the playstyle doesn’t mean no one else does either.

Glaring issue with elem's.

in Elementalist

Elementalist mobility is bad? Wat. Elementalists are one of the most mobile professions.

The attunement system is fun, in my opinion. If you don’t like swapping attunements, you probably shouldn’t be playing elementalist, and making skills go on cooldown across all attunements would completely break the profession.

The only problem with the attunement system itself is the long recharge rate – which is why so many builds have to include the Arcane trait line (granted, Evasive Arcana is pretty awesome and makes the line worth investing in just for that, but still).

That said, elementalists definitely need some changes in terms of traits. A lot of the minor ones are pretty lackluster, though I really love the water 15.

Minion responsiveness?

in Necromancer

Posted by: storiessave.3807

storiessave.3807

I noticed a pretty significant reduction in responsiveness, at least in the Flesh Golem. I don’t use other summons most of the time, so I’m not sure if they are as affected. After the patch, the Golem was just stands next to me half the time. Really not sure why, but they definitely screwed something up. Not very useful with higher HP if it frequently doesn’t attack (and yes, I’ve tried using targeted skills. This used to happen rarely with it not attacking with the 1 spam skill, but using single target skills used to snap it out of that…now it often has no effect).

At least once you get it to respond, it’ll still switch targets when you do, just like it used to, but sometimes it just refuses to attack. This seems to happen more often on objects than it does on mobs, which is even more of an irritation for me, as I’m a condition build so my damage on those sucks without the Golem.

I did try other minions for an hour or so after the patch first came out, and they all attacked right away even when the Golem wouldn’t, so I’m not sure if it only affects the Golem, or if I just got lucky with those. The other ones wouldn’t switch targets though, whereas the Golem does. Not sure if that’s a change, as I haven’t used them enough in the past to remember whether they used to change targets when you do or not.

I don’t think we need controllable “pets” like rangers do. That’s their thing. I’d just be happy if the Golem’s responsiveness went back to how it was before. The increased HP is awesome in PvE, though.
