Within 4 weeks people will be on here about the servers who are tanking to get lesser matchups etc.
Hasn’t Mag already been doing just that? They even brag about it which is odd. I guess they feel like nobody cares so why not turn up the toxicity a bit.
To the people that want condi nerfed, I hope you enjoy the tank meta. Your power builds will still be useless.
You mean like the condi tank meta now? A good percentage of condition players in WvW are already running full dire or trailblazer. If not they are at the very least mixing them with viper. I don’t believe the damage with condition play is as important to address as the way they can be quickly reapplied with a dozen other cover conditions on top. That being said, there are several aspects that need to be looked at…
- The rate at which conditions can be reapplied by one player
- The resistance boon (rate of application and current strength being 100% negation)
- The current condition meta using gear that adds significant toughness and vitality while being able to deal high amounts of damage
About that last bullet point… while there are similar gear stats for power that add vitality or toughness along with significant damage application rarely can you find a situation that utilizes both. Condition gear can significantly mitigate both types of damage while dealing a very good amount of damage in the process. I don’t think that this is healthy for a PvP mode.

I agree. There is a lot of passive damage mitigation now. You know something is wrong when you see "invulnerable invulnerable invulnerable invulnerable invulnerable immune immune immune immune" just about as much as you see damage numbers. I don’t mind evades and blocks because at least it shows that the player is required to make a judgement call. ArenaNet’s PvP design tanked after the Heart of Thorns release. There is so much passive play, skill spam, and AoE spam that (in my opinion) PvP in either mode for Guild Wars 2 can’t really be taken but so seriously anymore.
It’s still a great game and I am always hoping that these balance issues change down the road. Sadly, I just don’t think being a PvE centered game that ArenaNet can tune class mechanics enough to make balanced and fun PvP play.

I think it will probably still be 250HPs.
But they could put some extra gating on unlocking them.
I really hope that is not the case. Elite specs are a standard. Like any standard they need to be normalized so players know what to expect. There are lots of new things to look forward to with an expansion pack, but something a standardized as elite specs should stay the same. A new expansion pack shouldn’t be about gating core game mechanics and features for the sake of calling them new.
To be perfectly honest balance should be at the front of the list for the benefit of both the players and the developers. We all want a happy, healthy, and fun game mode. Achieving such a goal makes players happy as they end up having fun playing the game they enjoy while it makes developers happy because happy players are more likely to sink money into the game. Everybody wins and despite ArenaNet’s failures and player disgruntlement at the end of the day isn’t that what we all want?
I don’t see where anything will change. There is no reason to really change it. It will most likely be 250 HPs just like the last one. If you remember they had a higher requirement and it did not sit well with the community. I think the current price of HPs is in a good place.
I run a staff support ele in WvW and the overall changes make me happy in the long run. Ice Spike having a blast finisher is fantastic! There is a lot more heal/support potential with that change. I would love to see the Geyser change make it into PvE/WvW.
I play an ele as a support healer. I can hit some pretty nice consistent numbers on healing and the auras and boons I give to the team are an added plus. That being said I can see where burst healing could come in handy depending on the situation.
Skill lag is going to happen. It’s a part of massive battles. The population of WvW has increased exponentially since the patch and as such zerg play has seen a dramatic boost. You’re just going to have to live with it as we all do and have for a very long time.
Is this the best answer? No. I too hate skill lag. However, I have come to realize that there just is no way around it.
This is a bad idea. WvW reward pips should be earned based off of your playtime in WvW. I would never support tonics, guild buffs, boosters, or anything else that would boost your pip earnings.
The OS should be revamped into a dueling arena that is server wide and where players who are on the same or opposing server can toggle a duel/peace mode that allows them to organize duels. The toggle would display an icon above the player’s head that would be either green or red. Green meaning they can not be killed and red meaning they are open to combat from anyone else who is tagged the same way. Once toggled as dueling there is a time limit before you can toggle back to peace.
Balance needs to be implemented into WvW in order to make the new rewards worthwhile. Failure to do so will see WvW right back to where it was before the most recent patch.
However, I don’t think that it will happen. I think that one of ArenaNet’s goals for this patch was to permanently kill off small group and roaming play. These are the types of play that the lack of balance in WvW hurt the most which makes those who enjoy these types of play the most vocal and critical of profession balance issues.
With everyone blobbing (or most everyone) ArenaNet can avoid doing costly and time consuming fixes like splitting balance and instead balance for zerg play (big battles) which is much easier to tweak.
Yes. Condition damage to siege was in fact intended. I am not sure about your other mention on siege weapons taking longer to destroy other siege weapons.
I think OP is specifically talking about Retaliation, rather than condition damage. As one patch note mentions deactivating retal damage on siege, then another patch comes along and reactivates it, yet does not specifically mention it in the notes.
Ah okay. Thank you for clarifying.

I don’t actually care what somebody else gets over me. However, how many of you up in your ivory towers laying into the OP farmed your “hard earned rank” in EoTM? Ask yourself that…
Legendary WvW players? Really? With the current state of balance? You must be joking. This is an MMO. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but you’re being a snowflake. Please spare me the “I work so hard” speech in regards to a game. We all bought the same game you did and your snowflake rant of wanting exclusion speaks volumes to how this once great community is just as toxic and elitist as every other MMO.
Are you going to give an elaborate snowflake reason why you deserve to get it handed to you?
So a distaste for this “I am an exclusive snowflake” attitude means I want it to be handed out for free? That’s awful black and white isn’t it?

Thanks for your response DeceiverX. I agree, it is indeed very sad. I am keeping an eye on Crowfall in hopes of a better option. Sadly, it is very far away from being even close to finished. I may be very disappointed. However, what have I got to lose, right?
It’s funny how a community that was once touted as friendly and helpful has now turned into players that want to exclude themselves from everyone else. Closed command groups. Restrictions on joining WvW until rank 50. DPS meters and meta groups in raids.
Oh how far you have fallen GW2 community... oh how far. =(
Is that the idea? Throw more rewards and shiny things at new and veteran players so hopefully nobody notices how this mode still has zero balance? How can you have a competitive game mode with the current state of balance? Rewards are great, but the power creep has gotten absurd. You do realize that there are many who have quit over the past year because the skill floor in the game has gotten to absolute zero right?
Failure to address the horrible balancing in the game mode will render the good will of trying to breathe new life into the game mode pointless. The short term excitement will revert back to the same old drab story about how awful it is to PvP in this game. I commend your efforts for trying to make WvW desirable. However, you have got to start balancing this mode. A start would be designating WvW as a separate balancing over the other modes.
I left about three months ago and as exciting as it is to see this new patch, I will not even bother coming back to the same old cheesy, low skill, low risk high reward combat that you have turned PvP into. I will be watching to see if balancing is addressed into the future.
