Happy? For how long? Don’t come back complaining if you are supposed to be happy after their expansion don’t live up to the hype.
And maybe don’t come back with your tail between your legs when you do buy it. Sound like a plan?
You’re a white knight. You’re defending something that doesn’t need a defense (and doing so by ridiculing others). Do you think they’re going to pay you? No. It’s a transaction, and if you bought it, then the transaction is complete. There’s no need for you to come here and do more work for them. You gain nothing by trying to tell people they’re wrong for criticizing the game.
Ask yourself why it bothers you so much when people complain.
Will the Guild Wars 2: HoT expansion pack be available trough the gem store for existing players, ?If so that means existing players or wealthy players won’t have to buy the full game again and feel discriminated
They already answered this with a “no.” The thread has been buried since they were all merged. Someone wrote support and asked, and a representative named Lance gave the answer.
Edit: to clarify, OP is asking whether there will ever be an “expansion-only” option available from the Gem Store. That is, will there ever be an option to purchase HoT alone, without forcing players to pay for the core game? (By the way, that “includes core game” is not a free inclusion—that is a marketing spin, wake up fanboys.)
(edited by upsdn.5426)
That is Anet’s whole plan. It is the only cost-efficient purchase.
Isnt that…. like… kind of crappy thing to do you your customers?…. The only version that is has a price reflecting is value is the most expensive one?
They do this all the time. Inventory space, bank space, storage space, character slots. Tired of trying to manage all your loot? What you gonna do? Here’s something fun: Black Lion CHESTS drop, but not keys. What you gonna do, players? Eh?

Looking at the price of PC games in the past two years, yes this is in line with expectations actually.
That’s not what people are upset about.
All these people happy about buying HoT when they don’t have HoT cause it’s not out..lel
I thought the same thing. One of the “satisfied customers” in map chat said “well I got my goodies [$50 of gems and worthless extras] already”. More lol.
I thought the plight of the real world was wars, famine and terrorism, disease. Maybe you should take some of your admirable ‘fighting spirit’ and use it to make the world a better place.
All this over the price of a computer game that no-one is forcing you to buy? Don’t like it, don’t buy it. It really is that simple.
Just because there are problems in the world, that doesn’t mean that consumers should not complain about an over-hyped product marketed and sold unfairly, while the base game is neglected henceforth. Stat changes, etc. are all being introduced to make way for Heart of Thorns. Those of us who don’t buy it will be at a disadvantage in WvW, PvP—I guarantee it.
Stop telling people to be quiet. We have a right to complain. If you’re bothered, then don’t listen. We’re not talking to you.
(And sure, you have as much right to say what you’re saying. But there’s a huge difference between consumers complaining, and fanboys attempting to silence consumers by aggressive ridicule.)
Happy. We’re actually in playing the game and happy – the others are just the vocal minority.
You wish it was a minority. Why? Are they paying you? I will never understand fanboys.
I would say the vets still have the advantage, they were able to play and progress throughout the game for 3 years!
How about people who purchased it during last September’s gigantic marketing push? (AKA NPE/Sept. “feature pack”).
September was 9 months ago… ages ago.
It was 9 months ago. What’s your point? You were wrong in your original statement.
Giving a discount will make others feel that they are …entitled? (for lack of a better word.)
It really is the wrong word. All this talk of “gamer entitlement” is ridiculous. Fanboys and U.S. political panderers trot this word out every time they disagree with someone who’s complaining about the status quo. Do any of these people actually know what entitlement means? Do they understand that people are entitled to complain? Do they understand that the self-righteous indignation that causes them to lash out at consumer complaints is really just arrogant narcissism?
I would say the vets still have the advantage, they were able to play and progress throughout the game for 3 years!

Okay, thank you very much Anet for all the update you’ve been giving us about this matter. I appreciate it.
Moreover, I’m really surprised at how low the price for the xpac is! :o
Hopefully you’ll keep on being as fast and reliable whenever there’s a bug like this one.Best of luck!
Can’t wait for Au Ra to come out, I really wanna play them! Haha.

It is the wording on the sales page I think that is giving people to perception they are paying twice.
That is a dishonest accounting of the current situation. Read the megathreads and the several other individual threads to better understand it before you dismiss this out-of-hand as a “PR fail.” It’s much more than that.
self-interested economic rationality
If you had any shred of this faculty, you wouldn’t be playing this game.
Case in point, look at how NCSoft handled City of Heroes. Tremendous community support, highly interactive devs… shut down because it wasn’t lucrative enough.
That’s a ludicrous comparison. CoH is 11 years old. If anything, it tells us we should be concerned that NCSOFT may shut GW1 down sometime in the next 2 years (and I wouldn’t be surprised).
Great deal. Shall i bend more over ?
Rapthorne did, and he expects you to, also. Because $50, what a steal!
If the bundling, pricing, and information were fair, would the community be so upset?
That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is obviously no. Given the huge negative response, you can be sure that there are several things wrong with the HoT pre-order options. And it’s not just the marketing.
Fanboy-level devotion is really sort of disgusting. Stop telling people to stop complaining—you have neither the right nor the power.
Edit: to be clear, I don’t like to pre-order games. I occasionally consider it, but honestly, I know it’s always a ripoff. My issue with HoT pre-order options are threefold. I won’t put them here, since there is obviously a lot of discussion in the megathreads about reasons. I’m just speaking the simple truth here that just because you are a devoted white knight of ArenaNet, that doesn’t mean you get to tell agitated consumers to “shut up.”
(edited by upsdn.5426)
Ok, real world a second: this game came out with 5 slots and 8 classes. Players have either picked a few classes to ignore for years or they have become accustomed to buying slots if they wanted to play all of them. Ok, maybe somepeople wipe a slot from time to time to try something new.
ALL of these strategies are as valid for HoT as they were for the base game so what has changed?
Nothing.
Except that they’re being asked to pay $50 to ignore a class they never had the option of playing before, when they had open character slots. So no, it’s not the same and it won’t ever be the same, no matter how much you or any fanboy pretends it is.
the funny thing is you don’t get the extra copy of the game
Lol. I guess in a way that is funny. “Here’s this product bundle—you get the original plus this other bit!” “Okay, but where’s the original?” “You already had one of those, so we’ll just keep it.”
Oh okay, thanks for just not giving us what’s in the product description. Juxtaposing this with the FAQ edit, it’s obvious how slimy the people in charge have become.
My advice: get out now, before you sink money into the expansion and fall victim to the sunk cost fallacy. (And for those of you who feel you’ve already spent too much on the game to quit at this point: you still can, really. You just have to recognize that any further investment in this product—a product created and marketed in bad faith—is more harmful than quitting now, “while you’re ahead.”
That is to say, you gain nothing by quitting. But you don’t lose as much as you would by continuing to play.
Hi guys,
Because we weren’t getting any real responses on the forums regarding HoT expac having the original game included (and the standard edition being ridiculously high in price) I decided to contact support to find out what their stance on it is so here is the reply I received:
Lance (Guild Wars 2 Support)
Jun 16, 20:19
Hello,
The Standard Edition of the Heart of Thorns Expansion comes with a free Guild Wars 2 Core game for those who do not already own Guild Wars 2. There will not be an available expansion version released that does not include the Core game for a lower price.
Regards,
Lance
Guild Wars 2 Support Team
http://help.guildwars2.com/This feels rather final (and was a very toxic response to this) personally I think my decision not to purchase HoT will stand, I understand that there has been a lot of “Free” content (which is really not free since they are making money off selling the LS releases to new players and the original LS is not something that can be replayed) but $50 is rather overpriced with the released information. This is unlikely to change given the past with Gw2 Devs ability to listen to their players.
In short, I like many will not be pre-purchasing and it is unlikely that I will be buying HoT at all if I have to have an extra copy of the game (being that all my friends have the game and my family does not game lel so it is literally a paperweight) but yo, GW2 not really surprising me at this stage Thumbsup
~Byte
" There will not be an available expansion version released that does not include the Core game for a lower price." Yuuuuuuck. Kittening slimy company. I’m out. Maybe in a year I’ll come back to troll the trading post.
HoT should come with 4 slots, not one! If you are paying as much for the expansion as you did for the original game it should come with a hell of a lot more slots than one!
No, no, the price is fair, deal with it. Pfffffffffffffft, not.
If the fanboys could, they would drown anyone who disagrees with them. I agree with you though.
If I pre-order HoT, I can either get the (dubious) benefit of having a third account, and play HoT content without all of the stuff I’ve kept on my characters all this time. OR I can forfeit the potential benefits of using a third account (legitimate or not…), and “upgrade” one of my extant accounts instead.
Either way, I was stupid to ever play this game.

They could get mad and cancel the expansion due to all the complaining about the price point. It’s a alot of work to make this content and we are getting alot of add ons to the classes if they done it right they should be like re-leveling you class all over again basically making it like adding alot of classes. So Anet thank you, but treat us fairly let us play the Revenant at launch and for the love of Jim Bob talk to the people and don’t tell them everything about the expansion but let them know there is more than you are telling us.
Oh no! I hope ANet doesn’t get mad at us for complaining! The words you’re using, there’s no way you’re spending your own money—surely your pre-order was paid for by your parents. You have no concept of what it means to be purchasing a product with currency you earned.
Once you pay the hard-earned cash price for a product, you do not owe gratitude to the merchant. Get off of your knees.

With all the topics created since the HoT pre-order release came out, I don’t see how some of you are still trying to make light of this. Let’s revise the problems with this pre-release on HoT:
- Newcomers get the game AND the expansion for 50$. That’s 50$ for the expansion and the core game for free. That’s 5 slots to try out the Revenant, and for 25-50$ more, they get ANOTHER slot plus a few extras. Existing players attempting to buy the standard package do NOT get the opportunity to even use the new class, even though they’ve mentioned considering it back then.
- 50$ for an expansion. Now here is where we have lines drawn: on one side, you have people stating the price is reasonable, and on the other, you have people claiming that it’s too much for what it offers. Now, I will say 50$ for an expansion is fine, but as the base price? That’s close to the price of the original game, with far less content! Where’s the logic in that?
- Heart of Thorns isn’t even finished. Let me repeat that.
Heart. Of. Thorns. Isn’t. Even. Finished.
They’ve just gotten you to pre-order an expansion that, first of all, isn’t even complete, and secondly, doesn’t even have a release date. For all you know, you could’ve simply paid for nothing but the extra items they included in the package. To those of you that have money and bought it, good for you. You have access to the Beta of an unfinished, uncertain expansion that is essentially the original game with less content, but no worries. I’m sure those extra toys you’ve gotten along will keep your mind away from that thought.
Please don’t defend this action with ‘Be grateful we don’t pay subscription fees for all the content they’ve handed to us’. We don’t owe Arenanet for that. We paid for the game, and we support its business model by using real money to buy things in the Gem Store. We’re glad they’ve given us free content over the years, but that doesn’t justify the price they’re asking for on an expansion with far less content. You can’t giveaway free things and then suddenly decide to charge for new content at a much higher price so you can get compensation for all that you’ve previously offered.
I honestly don’t know whose idea this was, and Paul’s little comment made it far worse than it should’ve been. All I know that this will not end well either way for Arenanet. Making changes now to benefit the veteran players will cause those who’ve pre-ordered the expansion at the current price to demand some sort of refund or compensation, and not making any changes will cause a loss of many veteran players who feel that they’ve been tricked.
Love the game, but not at all satisfied with this situation.
TL;DR I’m not buying the expansion as it is now, and there’s nothing I can do but wait. If no changes happen, and they continue down the road like this, I’m out. One whiny player out of their way will benefit the entire community, right? And no, you cannot have my things.
Thanks for reading. If I’m wrong, I’d love for it to be cleared up.
Agree, +1. You didn’t cover all the bases but this is a decent summary of one issue. It’s all very simple. Anyone who claims not to understand it is being willfully ignorant; anyone who aggressively ridicules it is arrogant and a little tiny bit fascist.
I could spend my time chest farming for 800 gems. I could cease all my current in-game objectives for this “oh so amazing” privilege of gaining access to the revenant, because, apparently, churning €40-50 won’t be enough. I could, but I won’t waste my time in a game that treats me as an exploitable idiot.
This, right here. So sick of seeing fanboys/fangirls/fan-otherkin saying “hurr durr you don’t have to pay for a character slot, you can turn gold into gems which is easy if you’re not a stupid casual hurr durr.” Yeah, like I’m going to spend my time joylessly grinding $10-worth of gold for a character slot. What’s more efficient: doing my job for 7-8 times that per hour, and using one hour’s pay to get a character slot? Or spending multiple hours to grind the gold?
I’m not stupid for choosing to unlock character slots with gems rather than grind the gold. On the other hand, I was stupid to ever play this game in the first place, apparently.
I keep shaking my head at myself. It’s a child’s toy. Why did I play in the first place?

Seriously, there’s some real crazy entitlement on some of these threads. Some “doesn’t understand the basics of the adult world” level entitlement.
Complaining is not the same thing as entitlement (and you’re misusing this word, btw—look it up and figure out the difference). The fact that you think a difference in valuation is “entitlement” just tells us that you’re arrogant and you think your opinion matters more than everyone else’s.
Why are you so bothered that other consumers are complaining about the pricing of a product? You can continue using the product at the current offer prices. You aren’t ANet or NCSoft, and you should feel no obligation to reply to anyone complaining. If you can do nothing to influence the thing being complained about, then you don’t have to say anything.
Don’t try to invalidate other people’s complaints by ridiculing them.

Here’s what most likely happened:
Anet DID plan to make the expansion as a separate purchase from the core game. So they did all these sales so that people would get the game and naturally upgrade to the expansion.
But one day, some marketing or business development guy thought to himself: “If we made the core game FREE with the expansion, that would lure in even more players.” So he makes the core game come free with the expansion, because hell, why not? Of course, they probably failed to consider that a lot of people would be kitten over this, but eh, sometimes that happens.
So kittenty situation, but I don’t think Anet meant any malice.Stay out of adjudicating or lawmaking anywhere ever. “I don’t think x meant any malice, despite how malicious what they did seems. Probably some stupid person decided it might work and they went along with it.”
That’s really poor judgment on your part.
Yes, I’m speculating since I’m not in a law court. Jail me for it!
My point is that you’d be awful at it. Not that you should be great at it. Nonetheless, if you’d be awful at it (and judging from the relative likelihood of the situation you describe, you would), then you should stay out of it.
That’s all. Nothing more and nothing less than what I said. No jail necessary.

Give option to buy only expansion with a godkitten free character slot for the hours and bugtesting we did in your game or I swear personally I’m gonna make so much trouble that game will be empty and nobody will play it.
I’m with you on the only expansion + character slot, but my main reactions to this comment were nervous amusement (if there is such a thing) and extreme curiosity. I wonder if any one person actually has the power to do such a thing. Does such a person play this game? The rational part of my mind says “probably not” but then again… I mean, Machiavell, come on, you’re not connected to one of the Borgias, right?
Many of my guildies have been playing for 2-4months.
Even if they did get a refund, they wouldn’t want to lose ALL their progress after spending so much time leveling characters to 80, getting fractal levels up etc…Never was it even hinted that you could only buy the expansion and core game together.
I’m not even sure any game has ever done a mistake like this?
They’ll find a way to take care of players who’ve been playing 2-4 months or whatever. If they started after HoT was announced, chances are they’ll get a discount on HoT. But that’s only because of the FAQ thing, which is actually embarrassing and has some blatant sliminess. The rest of us, meanwhile, will still pay full price. And a whole bunch of fanboys will say “yeah see hurr durr that’s fair.”
The fanboys/fangirls like to say things like “you paid for x and you got x, you are not entitled to y.” In their minds, voicing an opinion = “crying,” and only they have the magic power to decide who is “entitled” to what. That is, you are not entitled to complain, but they are entitled to tell you that your opinion is invalid.
Good luck!

For those that missed the E3 stream on guild halls, just the guild hall content alone I would have payed $50 this is going to be amazing. Stop complaining about the price and whether new players get the core game free and watch this.
I disagree. It’s not worth it.
The standard $49.99 edition does not include an extra character slot. If you want to create a new character, and have already used all of your character slots, you can buy either of the other editions of HoT (Deluxe for $74.99, or Ultimate for $99.99), OR you can buy the standard edition of HoT and then purchase an additional character slot for 800 gems ($10 USD) from the Gem Store.
Good luck!
I am confused, as it seems like a very un-Anet thing to do to force old players to pay more resources (cash/gems/gold) to play something that they actually paid for. Guild Wars expansions always came with 2 extra character slots to ensure all players will have the chance to create characters with the 2 new professions introduced with the expansion, and philosophically that made sense.
But if I am going to buy HOT and then be told I can’t access the new profession because I haven’t bought a new character slot, that seems like a cash grab. Anet pls confirm this.
They have already confirmed this, unfortunately.
If you want to play the expansion, you can pay $49.99 for the standard expansion, and then buy another character slot from the gem store for 800 gems ($10 USD), if you have already used all of your original slots.
Another option is, you can pay $74.99 for the Deluxe Edition or $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition of HoT, each of which includes exactly one additional character slot.
Keep in mind that no matter what, you can use all of your original characters in the expansion, or delete an old character to make room for a new character. Good luck!

The sliminess is what bothers us. You’re deflecting.
Thats actually what I meant when he said cold hard economics, that was kittening awful. That did NOTHING to you know, actually solve the problem. It was an awful thing to do, and really messed up. That made me more angry than anything, that the developers would begin taunting angry users about a fair argument?
I’m glad you’re here responding. It was hard for me to read his comment to you. I’ve made my fair share of stupid purchases (not too many, but a few), and felt stupid about them. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone essentially laugh at me about something stupid that I purchased from them. I felt violated by that joke.
I’m actually downloading Final Fantasy XIV right now. You know, it hurts, it hurts bad. I played gw1, I went through an adventure where the company supported the loyalty of the player, now, it seems to be gone. Forsake this land, for now anyways. I’ll of course pop in to play with my friends in GW2, but, unless they make an actual answer, and not just mock their users, then, they aren’t getting as friggin dime out of me.
I imagine the ongoing HoM issue didn’t help your feelings on this. I know they’re working on it and it takes time to fix stuff, and they’ve been trying to get balance changes and new content ready—nonetheless, I know a lot of GW1 veterans are upset. (I’m not a GW1 vet).

I realize a lot of you are upset because you also recently bought the core game and it is a lot of money. But, consider this as well, most of the content ANET has been giving us over the past 3 years has been free (outside of the gem store). ANET isn’t a subscription based MMO they make all their money off buying the game and the gem store. Yet, they still gave us all of living world season 1-2 for free as it launched. Sure you had to buy for it later if you missed the updates, but it is still a lot of content they could have been having us pay for along the way.
Incorrect. Anyone who bought the game recently will only have LS Season 2 if they pay gems for it. You only got it for free if you logged in during the 2-week window of the episode’s release.

In case no one got the joke… I was pointing out that there are bugs in the core game (included for free in HoT!) that have never really been fixed, that have been present since launch (in one guise or another) and do not seem to be getting a fix very soon. Bugs that impact achievements and the economy (Sam, I’m looking at you).
Before you pay $50-$100 for new content, ask yourself: is ArenaNet going to deliver a fully functional product later, if I pay them today?
In deciding the answer to that question, it might help you to consider the related question, “Has ArenaNet delivered a fully functional product in the core game I paid for 3 years ago?” (Sure, bugs happen and it takes time to fix them. But three years for delivery is a bit sloppy.)
Thats actually what I meant when he said cold hard economics, that was kittening awful. That did NOTHING to you know, actually solve the problem. It was an awful thing to do, and really messed up. Everyones angry, and I agree with them.
Old players SHOULD GET SOMETHING if they’re paying for the base game, and the expansion, when a new player only has to pay for the base game.
I payed 40 dollars for this game.
Now, I need to pay another 50, and someone who hasn’t bought the game only has to pay 50.
Show your support with your wallet, people, DO NOT BUY THIS EXPANSION if you you feel this isn’t right. Bad business is bad business. I love GW, I have been a fan of it for years, but this is low as hell, and its mostly because they’re bagging on the original players. If it was 50 dollars, and it gave things to Original players to make up for it, like a character slot, the extras, ect, then i’d be fine, but, this is just scummy. People say its the cold world of economics, but economics ain’t always right. Vote with your wallet.
After seeing seeing John Smith’s sarcastic response in a thread about the bundling, and after seeing the FAQ revision mere hours ago, I already decided not to buy the xpack.
I feel so stupid. It bothers me so much I’m still on the forums wondering how I could be so stupid for buying this game in the first place. The warning signs were all there: in-app purchases (so to speak), gambling, number-pushing, and flashing lights. These are all the design strategies of video poker, and we’re all just junkies.

The Expansion is applied to your account you already have, you needn’t a second account.
The Pricing on the game is irrelevant in terms of the Vanilla game being included FOR FREE. with or without the game included the Expansion pack is $50.Please stop complaining over a cup of milk half empty. Or at the very least explain with real factual reason why it upsets you, I’m more then willing to put a word in to the developers. but not your constant banter.
Please stop complaining about people complaining. “Constant banter” is hardly something to tell people to stop doing on a forum.
So it’s ridiculous (and arrogant) to tell someone that they are acting “entitled” when they complain that the odd bundling/1-key/pricing isn’t fair.
Each individual decides what they consider to be fair price or not fair price. It’s how we decide whether something is worth buying or not.
Your opinion differs? You’re free to say so. But it’s ludicrous to say that anyone who disagrees with you is “acting entitled.” It’s really strange that you believe they are not entitled to complain.

Here’s why it doesn’t matter what the price is:
- Pre-order sales are a bad business practice to support. Any person who has played games for long enough should know better at this point. Since this is a game that is digitally delivered, there aren’t limited numbers of copies. Don’t support pre-ordering, as it is an inherently anti-consumer practice.
(…)
TL ; DR : Preorder price doesn’t matter because you shouldn’t preorder.
This, 100%. I said this earlier while playing. One of those things about U.S. consumers I will never understand is their eagerness to give money early for a product they won’t see until later. In many cases, they pay much more to “pre-order” than they would pay by purchasing the same product on the launch date. (Usually there is some kind of nominal “perq” that comes with the pre-order, but let’s be realistic: it’s just there to make you feel like the pre-order is worth it. If you feel that way, then they succeeded in manipulating you and you are a typical consumer. cough $50 worth of gems cough)

be grateful
Gratitude has nothing to do with it. They’re selling something, and I’m buying or not buying it. No one needs to be grateful, and anyone complaining is not being ungrateful. The attitude of your post is misguided.

Be happy that you aren’t paying $$$ every month AND $50 for an expansion. I think $50 is a reasonable price and is in no way greedy.
Nuff said
Other people are entitled to feel unhappy about the price of a product, and entitled to complain about it. Your opinion does not invalidate theirs. You feel it’s fair, and they don’t feel it’s fair. Their complaining will not interfere with your usual usage of the website—you can still pre-order the expansion from the site store or the Gem Store.

I for one can’t blame the op. And the community of this game clearly isn’t any more comprehensive as the one of wow. It seems whenever you present your fans with an even bigger pile of dirt as the last time, they will even say it tastes better than last time. I bought every collector edition of gw and also laid down 180 bucks for the collectors edition of gw2. For this expansion, I’m willing to give 0. If the content is as stale as the living story content, yes even season 2 was sub-par, then it deserves no money from me at all. With a game where the only new weapons are just skins in the store and the only good thing is fractals 35+ I’m not going to invest in its future any longer. Good luck arenanet.
PS: no trolls, you can’t get my stuff either.
I’m with you. The arrogance of the vocal fanboy/fangirl segment of this community is incredible. They’ll ridicule anyone who complains, and repeat the same 2-3 lines in response. It’s amazing. There’s no good reason for them to try to suppress others’ opinions by ridiculing them, yet they do it nonetheless. What do they get out of it? Do they feel insecurity when people complain, and need to aggressively invalidate others’ opinions in order to feel justified in their purchases?
Some of them respond with “I’m buying the ultimate edition for $100 right now! It’s fair!” as if this says it all. Unbelievable.

LOL they absolutely just edited the FAQ. This is what it said before:
“Q: Do I have to own Guild Wars 2 to play the expansion?
A: Yes. Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is an expansion to Guild Wars 2 and not a stand-alone campaign, and therefore it requires the base game to play.”How long until we start talking about a bait-and-switch?
Yikes! I remembered reading this, but I didn’t put two and two together for some reason. When I first saw the HoT today, my thoughts were more like “What the… seriously? When there is open world content of the original game that has been broken since launch? Yeah right, fool me once.” It didn’t occur to me to compare this to the information they previously gave.
Earlier, seeing John Smith’s sarcastic response in a thread about the bundling, I felt like an idiot for playing this game. This little bit of history revisionism with the FAQ makes me feel so much worse. The flashing lights and in-game gambling, etc., should all have been red flags. This game is glorified video poker. Yes, yes, it has more moving parts. But the design principles are the same.
