One of the strengths of this server is the ability to be extremely hardy and kick bottom when we work as a unit. Have seen us many times snatch victory from the jaws of almost certain defeat. It’s moments like that which make WvW on Gunnars pretty bloody special

So, I guess many have seen the drama thread, and the subsequent trolling, re-trolling and tears etc. Anyway, that’s not what GH is about any more(or what it was about in the first place..)

Guilds have left for their own reasons, that will sort itself out in future match ups, when the two servers meet ( which will be epic )

What happens now for Gunnars? Well now we are in the process of pulling the server together. We have some fantastic leaders and commanders. We have some fantastic players and and guilds as well as still having a huge contingent of ex Prydwen/ Excalibur DAoC guys as always.

There is a gap to fill now, We’re confident that the WvW activity will greatly improve in the coming weeks. We have some fantastic tools available ( forums + unlimited mumble server available for everyone) and some very dedicated people willing to help get the server used to co-ordination.

We do still have a problem covering different time zones and could do with people from GMT 6 to +12 or GMT -4 to -8 timezones to join us. (& GMT1 or 2 based guilds interested in a decent challenge willing to work with some great guilds!)

What we can offer is a new optomistic outlook free of drama, some very tough fighting gmt prime timers to ensure any work done is not thrown away, and a team environment where everyone contributes where they can.

We are a server working to achieve goals for the server rather than for any alliance/guilds/individuals internet reputation.

Take advantage of the free transfers while you can. Server wide events are already being planned to help pull the community together.

Big thank you to all that stuck with LoE and friends in Elona’s BL last night at Cragtop. Fantastic that we could push down to garrison and cap it while Kodash attempted a similar plan at the watergate.

Also loved the cragtop defenses with wall and gate down whilst being outnumbered we still held the keep. Really nice to see some great teamwork in the zones

Rifle or Shotgun?!

Rifle is a bit boring in comparison to pistol/shield or Pistol/pistol to be fair. (WvW perspective)

There’s only the #1 attack that has decent range, #3 tends to be an escape and not a decent dmg ability, 2# is a root, #4 requires close range to be effective and #5 is kind of pointless unless you’re stood on the person you’re trying to hit to get both dmg effects (it should be changed to a single dmg effect on landing imo..)

Pistol/shield or P/P you have far more options at range to hurt things. Sadly the dmg sacrifice and inability to build toughness into a condition build effectively makes wvw as pistol/condition build a painfull experience at times.

wats even more annoying is this guilds who rally at the entrance of a borderland and then get wiped 5 minutes later after wasting 30 queue spots while rallying

So they are better off running 1 at a time to the intelligent battle between Briar and Lake I suppose?

Please explain a better way for people IN GUILDS to group up in the Borderlands, bearing in mind they have to Queue to get in.

Changing Elixirs in Combat.

I see most opposed to the idea don’t understand the random nature of our toolbelt elixir skills.

We’re already penalised by losing weapon stats when we switch to a kit, our ‘buffs’ are largely random and we can’t benefit from weapon sigils while using kits.

I’m not saying to be able to use all buffs at once, but to use one of several with a shared cooldown.

The elixir kit I was thinking more of a 30 pointer for alchemy.

As for Szar, if I wanted one role I’d be playing with the panda’s. Seems you’d be more at home there

Elixirs are our thing as engineers, the sad thing is in WvW you can only ever have 1 or 2 available. Well if you want to be effective in other ways ofc.

I personally run with Grenade kit, Heal Turret/ elixir H (thrown ability CAN be useful but random) Elixir gun and elixir B for speed buff mainly.

Now our elixirs have a cooldown, that shouldn’t change, but we should be able to switch elixirs on the fly to deal with situations as they arise.

If I equip Elixir B and we get jumped as a group, elixir s would be more suitable, or maybe the cond removal elixir or anything apart from B which hase a terrible radius and debatable use in terms of buffs (ok retaliation is probably the most usefull).

I’m not saying we should be able to chain use elixirs but we should have the ability to change to a different elixir in combat.

Maybe make a traited elixir kit that gives all the tool belt skills of the relevant elixirs, it could be the random kit of randomness!!

Anyway, I think having the choice to change elixir in combat would make the class a little bit more interesting in general.

Pistol/Grenade Build?

I think if grenades are your focus then rifle may synergize better than pistols. Simply because power and precision appear to be more beneficial to grenades and rifle, whereas pistols generally benefit more from condition dmg.

I have been P/P until recently when I tried P/S both with condition dmg gear. Works well and pushes some nice dmg esp with piercing. The annoying thing is trying to build in defensive stats.

Difficult to find tough and cond dmg gear, it’s all vitality. The whole point is to be at range and let the conditions do their thing while reduing incoming dmg. P/S worked well but the shield cd’s are too long.

Off-hand weapons: Pistol vs Shield

I guess it depends on how much dmg you wish to dish out? In my experience the weapon dmg bonus from a shield is a huge difference to an offhand pistol.

While I understand the comparison between shield abilities and glue shot (which is a bit rubbish due to the slow travel speed etc) You’re essentially comparing two completely different set ups due to the large dps drop of having a shield compared to a pistol. I would agree glue shot should be reworked. Maybe a snare with a small poison or vulnerability debuff would be more appropriate.

But yeah, shield vs pistol needs to be considered more in terms of playstyle than straight ability comparison.
