The soundtrack kind of bores me. Jeremy Soule has done great work with the Elder Scrolls series, but here doesn’t quite click for me. It may have more to do with how the music is implemented (as suggested here), but I agree that if I am playing other game’s soundtracks than listening to the one in the game I’m playing, that’s a problem. Not a big one, but one that should be addressed effectively at some point.

Like many, after finally playing MF, I enjoyed it generally. It didn’t blow my mind or anything, but there was some fun bits for sure. If they added a dungeon to Southsun, fine.

I just think the big scale, open world battles are more fun. Probably harder to set up on the devs part, but I enjoy them more. I’d rather fight The Claw of Jormag with a massive zerg than do MF any day. And again, that’s not even trying to knock MF. If some Living Stories had dungeon conclusions and others had huge meta event conclusions, I’d be happy.

I would +1 this whole thread if I could.

When Southsun was first added I immediately went to Sparkfly to see if the road west was stilled block and was disappointed to see that it was. Even though it nearly touches Caledon there is no road or portal leading to it there either. It’s just too small. I’m not even sure if it’s bigger than Lion’s Arch. I doubt that more land will be added to it, but kitten would it be nice.

Oh yeah, I’m super excited for this one, and really glad to see it set to be released so early. F&F wore out on me after a while, but I’m confident that Anet is going to take what they learned and The Secret of Southsun will be a good release. Can’t wait for all the new content!

I don’t see why there can’t be a nice mix of permanent and temporary content. Lost Shores added some permanent stuff, obviously, but the story didn’t last. That’s fine, we still have things that were left behind: a new map, and a new dungeon, and that lighthouse is gone.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this patch, and it seems to be proving me right. I’m still bored. It just culminate in a dungeon. No giant boss in a new location or something. No big twists. 5 guys join up and do another dungeon. That dungeon maybe fun, but I don’t think it’ll stick with players as much. Southsun Cove maybe empty and dull right now, but at least it was significant and stands out on the world map. I look forward to when they finally fix it because it’ll make it more of a significant area.

I was hyped for F&F initially, but it’s worn out now. It certainly could have been worse, but it just doesn’t engage me. It’s only their first Living Story, so Anet deserves some slack, I just hope that future Living Stories are more interesting and leave more of an impact. So…no to temporary content that leaves nothing permanent in the game world. Better luck next time.

The world doesn’t really change if new areas and instances are taken back after being presented for a brief time. If the Living Story quests are gone: fine. But the areas they take place in should be kept as a reminder of this particular story.

I assume this thread is just for the story aspect. So far it’s okay. Nothing really spectacular. Both characters are forgettable and the story is too. I don’t care about rewards, I’m happy with just playing my character and seeing all the new stuff.

I like the update though. Seeing new areas appear and the game develop is exciting. I just hope those new areas stay after F&F is over.

I vote for Ritualist (may fave from GW 1), Spiritualist, or Reaper. I wish there was a class that specialized in summoning (more so than the necro). But I guess that’s what the Ritual/Spiritualist would do.

Another reason I don’t like Trahearne; he is sylvari. Yes, this is a valid reason for me to dislike him. The sylvari race in general feels too Mary Sue-ish for me. You would expect, if a new race shows up, that has such high birth rates, that they can outnumber anyone in a few decades, and is completly alien in behavior to all other races, they others would be, well suspicious to say the least. But no, everywhere I go, if it’s Lion’s Arch or Frostgourge Sound, everywhere when they talk about sylvari, it’s always positive. They are appearently the best blacksmiths, because they don’t brag and they are liked by the Kodan because they are in balance.
They simply have no flaw, they are perfectly lawful good and everyone likes them for it. Okay you have the Nightmare Court, but really that’s black and white painting. All other races have morally good, evil and neutral characters and that’s what makes them work as races. The playable sylvari however are always lawful good, the NC always evil. Nothing in between.

I still try to give every Sylvari character a chance, but so far I disliked them all. Sieran for example is annoying and doesn’t really seem to know/care about history, she just likes adventuring (her so called knowledge about the dwarves is very basic). I was glad to see her die on Claw Island, could have taken Trahearne with her though.
Caithe? Oh please, the perfect example of a Mary-Sue if you read Edge of Destiny. And even ingame she is of course the only one who every other member of the group still likes. Killeen from GoA was another generally well liked Sylvari, I didn’t. She had no character, and died as she lived, trying to be as cool as the other protagonists but utterly failing.

And I completely agree. I can’t stand the Sylvari for all the reasons above.

I’d say that Southsun Cove needs more help than Orr does, but I agree that Orr needs work. I’ve seen it suggested that mob populations should be based on how many players are in the zone at the time. I’m sure something like this could be worked out.

I also third the lower respawn rate.

I’d say 2. It was fun, much better than Lost Shores, haven’t seen as many serious complaints. I didn’t do a ton, but I thought fighting the toys in PvE was fun, and it was kind of neat to build snowmen.

I hope the next event doesn’t occur in Lions Arch, though. I think some other location should be tried.

I agree completely on this. The game looks great, but I find that it’s better to observe the environment from a first person perspective than from a third person.

I’d also appreciate it if the character would go transparent when the camera hits a wall. I find that it gets hard to see in close quarters when the game’s camera is shoved up against my character.

Not a big issue, just a small request.
