Freaking out about ascendeds did nothing. Freaking out about Traits has done very little, and freaking out over Scarlet did nothing. What makes you think freaking out over the new player experience is going to do anything?
The changes are here. Anet’s likely response to the criticism will just be “fine-tuning” like what they’ve done with traits.
BTW, what reintroduced bugs?
I’ve been reading this thread and am interested in seeing the CDI’s finally return. But, I have a bit of a tangent: If CDI’s are returning, what about Dolyak Express? They were usually small, but I enjoyed that extra bit of info we got from them.
Three favorite things about LS Season1

Get your positive sentiments out of here! This is a place to complain with as much hyperbole as possible!
I kid. :P The joke was obvious.
1. Speed of Releases. A lot of people hated the 2 week release candence and seemed to make the assumption all content was made in only 2 weeks (which wasn’t the case. It was 4 months or more), but I loved it. Kept me busy and in the game. All season long there was something to look forward to.
2. Variety. Every couple of releases brought something different for the most part. I don’t think I ever knew exactly what to expect before a patch was announced. They didn’t quite follow any set pattern.
3. The Impact. I like that season one’s over, and not just because I thought it was kind of meh. I legitimately enjoy going back to all the areas where stories took place and reflecting on everything that’s happened. There aren’t that many places left behind, but some. I hope season 2 leaves more stuff behind as reminders. Going back to areas like the Nolan Hatchery and finding the marionette’s deactivated body in Lornar’s Pass were really nice reminders of everything that’s happened.
BTW, and because it always bugs me, shouldn’t this be in Living World forum?
Heirloom merchant back for a day or two
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: wookiee.4631
I could see the merchants returning. People wanted Molten Facility back and they got it, sort of. They wanted Crab Toss back and they got it. On the other hand, they asked for Fractured Achievements back and it didn’t happen, and they begged for Labyrinthine Cliffs to stay and it didn’t happen.
Eh, I say it’s like a 50/50 chance of merchants returning or whoever the blade shard merchant is to take belongings and heirlooms.
So either take it or leave.
I choose neither. I’ll play what they release, buy an expansion if they release one, and leave feedback here and hope they listen to improve for the next time.
This thread isn’t even that bad yet. People have been much harsher on the forums in the past.
Weird oversight maybe? O.o
Yeah, it fits well with the current look of LA. I hope they keep using more unique music pieces in the future.
They had Heralds in game. They just said what was going on with whatever the current release was. No one talked to them. With the updated LW UI, I believe the Heralds were considered obsolete and were quietly removed. It would have been nice to have LW UI for this release even in spite of its small size.
They should continue improving communication in-game even for stuff that’s not technically part of the story. But as a general rule, just assume the next release will remove everything from the previous one.
I really disliked that instance. It feels very pointless, it doesn’t leave me with the “ah, the story’s over.” misty-eyed feeling, and it only sort of teases season 2. And it doesn’t answer any questions about Scarlet.
They didn’t have to magically answer all my questions, but it at least could have been salvaged if, for example, Belinda showed up saying something like “Something weird is happening around Fort Vandal! The Seraph are sending me there to check it out soon!” Maybe she says there’s reports of monsters gathering west of Fort Vandal or something? A dialogue like that would interrupt the party and instill the sense of urgency a recently awoken Dragon should evoke.
I sort of see why they’re celebrating, but given that LA is in ruins and thousands are dead, it really does feel out of place without some kind of reminder that there’s bigger things to worry about. Like at the end of the PS where everyone’s like “This is just one victory, we shouldn’t celebrate too much yet, there’s still 4 dragons out there”.
Sorry, but this instance really didn’t go over well for me.
Belinda - wrong character actor *spoiler*

She sort of sounds like Taimi to me. I find Belinda’s voice very annoying. So I guess I’m in the same boat as you.
Where it goes from here….well you’ll just have to wait to find out!
Waiting is for wimps! Everyone speculate like hell!!!! We guessed it right once, we can do it again for the next season!
Maybe she didn’t know his exact location and drilled in LA hoping it would wake him up?

I’m pretty satisfied, but I wish we had a follow up instance after the final instance. Right now there’s no certainty about what was shown in the ending cinematic. I mean, I know that’s it’s heavily implied, but still. Taimi mentions the Dead End, but there’s nothing there. Do we really have to wait another 2 weeks to have a short wrap-up instance?
I got in with Fine version. I think it’s kind of dumb to wall off the instance like that too, but I guess if you beat the event you go there anyway. Don’t know for sure because I was DC’d in the middle of the big Drill fight. I ran over to the unlabeled portal and lo and behold you could just skip that fight if you just want the story.
Too bad you need to make an item. At least it doesn’t require a ton of work if you go for bare minimum though, so I’m not that exasperated about it. Eh. :/
…It better be a freaking huge dragon 5 times the size of Zhaitan with 20 times the health of Tequatl.
And laser canons strapped to it’s wings. And it breathes lava and liquid Overflows! Yeah, that’d be awesome!
That is incorrect I can easily destroy the Quaggans without remorse, and I’m sure there are more players just as willing. As for the Centaur, my battle chariot won’t pull itself.
I’m with you (Hylek, Kodan, Tengu are waaay cooler than Quaggan!), but we might be in a minority. When the inevitable player-backed Quaggan invasion of Tyria finally happens, my hammer and I will back you up!
Still convinced that had she actually tried Scarlet could have made a deadly army with her Centaur/Quaggan Alliance. No player would hurt a Quaggan, even while it’s shoving a battle axe up their nose.
1. I heard that there are plans to add new songs and make current tracks better match their locations, is this true?
2. Will there be a greater mix of songs in the future in general? Like say more battle anthem (ones that are preferably more epic than the current ones).
3. If new regions/zones are added, will they get their own unique songs or would current ones be used?
sigh…the epic saga finally concludes. That ending was a real tear-jerker.
$12.50 Charge for Convenience of Lions Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: wookiee.4631
All the complaining on this gem store/drops naturally anyway item is over not having a slight convenience. Oh, the horror.
Somehow some of us go on playing, completely unaffected by a service offered in so many other locations the loss of its convenience in LA is nearly unnoticed. Adapt, move on. I save my complaints for issues I consider significant.
General Escape from LA Feedback Thread

It’s been a day or two, not a ton of time, but enough for the feel of this controversial release to start to really set in. Though, I wish there was more actual story in addition to all the backstory, which is something I really love about this release. It’s big in scope, which is nice, and it tried something new, also very nice. A lot of people will complain about it being zerg content, but I’m not sure it really is. Yeah there are zergs about, but you can still contribute to the goal of the event by going off on your own, exploring, and finding civilians. All the monsters, players running around, screaming sound effects, and fire really help it make Lion’s Arch feel like a battleground. I also like how Escape from LA has more than just the central location and there are camps, the Vigil Keep got upgraded, which I really hope is permanent even if the services leave, and all kinds of little details surrounding the wreckage of the city in 3 different zones.
In short, Escape from New York was better. HA!
Seriously though, I think it’s an awesome release, the best so far for 2014. And I have high hopes that the finale will be even bigger and better. What do you think?
Disaster! one word to describe this update
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: wookiee.4631
For the patch: Great
For the thread title: Hyperbolic
I love it so far. Don’t care about the overflows, don’t care about the zergs. It’s big scaled and epic. I wish more updates were this size. I guess my only complaint, at this point, is that the story isn’t presented super well, and hunting down all the NPC’s to talk to isn’t as easy as previous two where you were told where to go to get the background, but oh well.
Also I like the cinematic, didn’t look bad to me. I just wish it had more dramatic music. All in all, great so far. I hope the next release is even better.
EDIT: Just a nitpick, but I don’t like the loading screen for Under Attack LA. It’s all blurry and hard to make things out. They’ve done screens like that before, but I really prefer the ones where I can tell what I’m looking at without having to stare at it for an hour.
(edited by wookiee.4631)
I wouldn’t doubt it. Yesterday was President’s day, so they probably didn’t even work. So now they are scrambling today to get it all ready.
Of course, because an entire company would really be that lazy, not work at all, or not work ahead in preparation for the holiday. Very realistic perception of developers’ work ethic you have there.

Why do people think LA will be rebuilt?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: wookiee.4631
The last day dawns for the city of Lion’s Arch.
How would people know to find all the ambient dialogue, the extra little bits that haven’t been found, and to have that last chance to appreciate the map before it’s changed if they had no clue it was going to be changed in the first place? More info in game is great, I agree. Less info on the internet is not.
EDIT: Let’s not repeat TA Aetherpath thing, is all I’m saying.
What do you expect, OP? I’ve heard everything from connecting LA to Tengu to Cantha (the obsession never dies, does it?). I’ve heard people wondering what will be the “new” hub, and it’s been everything from Fort Trinity to Vigil Keep, and even Ascalon Settlement; even Orr. I’ve heard people talk about LA like it’s going to spontaneously disappear. I’ve even seen people compare LA’s invasion to the searing.
I think the new hub, will be Lion’s Arch. It’ll look different, have different ambient dialogue and such, maybe even have events or something, but that’ll be it once this season is over. People can fantasize all they want, but the wishful thinking is kind of incredible. It’s like nothing is without possibility.
LA's demise may break NPC text & heart mail
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: wookiee.4631
I think everyone’s assuming LA will be a rubble pile permanently, which is probably not going to be the case. I don’t think any dev anywhere mentioned it being “gone” for good. If I’m right, then those hearts and dialogue would be generally fine.
A!
I doubt it’ll be rubble for good though. It’d be cool if it was, but not likely. Besides, rebuilding it is a great excuse to redesign part or the entirety of the city. Imo, Lion’s Arch was ugly. Maybe someone at Anet felt the same?
That was frickin’ awesome! Should be worth some of my gems.
Wait, I’m too poor right now. T_T
Ah, look at all the wishful thinking.
Tengu NPC’s might be out and about, but I doubt it’ll go so far as to unlocking the zone. Besides, the Shuttered Gate doesn’t even make sense geographically speaking. The actual Dominion is way west of LA.
I know they said LA would be changing, but who said it would be gone for good? The merchants will be in Fort Marriner Vigil Keep for the next release and probably the one after that. Once Scarlet is done, I bet LA will be back to normal, but with some changes from the invasion. Although, it would be cool if it were totaled and became a regular zone with monsters and stuff, but not likely.
(edited by wookiee.4631)
It’s the same as the Account Issues one. Probably a bug. If not, it’s there to emphasize a potentially gigantic LW release.

Some thoughts:
1. Were they implying that Scarlet’s invasion would be worse than the Cataclysm? I’ve seen the spoilers too, but it can’t be worse than the sinking of an entire city all at once.
2. LA really is the New York City of this world, isn’kitten Everyone is out to destroy it!
3. I hope the changes are permanent, but I’m happy that big things will happen either way.
This patch has a nice big perm. addition for the WvW crowd: Edge of the Mists, a brand new map. It’s a cool one too. One thing I noticed though is that it, like the previous map we got for Lost Shores, has no Vista or skillpoints and for no obvious reason does not count for map completion. Is this something players should just expect from all future maps? If not, why does EotM not count for map completion? Do you think it’s good that EotM doesn’t? Should it become completable in the future?
I’m not happy about it. As annoying as getting everything in WvW can be, it makes no sense for a new zone to lack exploration features that the other maps have. It also leaves me wondering why they released it without those features. I guess it’s not a huge complaint, but something I notice.
Moe, Curly, and Larry. Or Moe, Shemp, and Larry, if you prefer.
Count me in the no to instanced group. The less loading screens I have to get through to get to the boss the better. Also, I like the size and relative anonymity of zergs. If overflows were refined or certain changes were made to help that’d be best. I’d rather most stuff happen out in the game world than in its own little bubble. So…no to instanced, no to clunky overflows.
OP HAS RETURNED!
This is the last day for this release, closing thoughts people?
My opinion hasn’t changed at all. I said Merry Wintersday was one of the best releases of 2013 and I stand by it. Kessex Hills is still all changed and awesome and I still wish the new skills didn’t cost so much. And it’s still fun pelting people with snowballs when I have the chance. I didn’t do a ton of stuff related to Wintersday, but I still enjoyed what I did do. I also just realized that this has been the longest release we’ve ever had: 1 Month and 10 days.
I don’t think anyone but the devs knows for sure right now if an entire two week release will just have 2 bosses. I seriously doubt that’s all they’ll put in the first release.
I wish they’d release a preview page though. At this point, I guess they won’t though.
lol, I don’t see what everyone else is seeing. All I see is a paper with a sketch of a high-heel shoe on it. Probably for the marionette.
Isn’kitten bit early to activate panic mode? I’m uneasy about this thing potentially being put in game, but we won’t know until someone at Anet comments on it.
EDIT: I wish they’d update the swearing filter (and the search function) while they’re working on the forums. >.<
(edited by wookiee.4631)
Apparently they had first person during Beta. I wish they’d put that in the game. Like my first post on these forums was about wanting a first person camera. And I’ll say what I said then, not a major addition, but it’d be nice to have.
1. New Zones
2. New Races
3. New Professions
4. New Skills/Traits (Including weapon skills)
5. Revamped Zones
You know, there used to be a thread that was all about listing player’s most wanted additions and changes. It used to be stickied, but has since been unstickied. If I find it, I’ll link it here.
A question: what makes a JP good? Is it the feeling of satisfaction after finally completing one that is keyboard smashingly annoying, or is it one that just flows really nicely, not too hard or too easy?
I can’t decide. My main being a Charr, JP’s are incredibly frustrating no matter what, but they are so satisfying to complete, doesn’t even matter what’s in the chest at the end.
ArenaNet took a page out of the Micheal Bay’s book of “How Things Should Happen”
Everything explodes on death! (Including explosions)
Even dying plants can explode.
Hey, sometimes explosions can be very satisfying. Even if they make no sense. :P
Yes, the game is awesome, not perfect (what game is?) but awesome. Yes, the forums have an overabundance of exaggerated rants that aren’t even close to constructive. In fact, I wish the mods would crack down much harder on such posts. But what purpose does this thread serve? It’s not constructive either, just flamebait. It’s like the anti-rant thread, which is every bit as bad.
Well at work so I can’t comment on the actual content yet, but as for the rest of it:
2) Content amount is what I would expect for a months worth of LS, but we have to wait 6 weeks before we get something new. Hopefully Wintersday content can keep us occupied till the 21st of January…
That’s the only thing I have doubts about. I don’t know about others, but for me, holiday content won’t keep my attention for long. Of course, there’s still the rest of the game in the meantime.
3) Dual story/arcs at the same time is interesting. Would kinda like to see more of this, but content would need to stay longer (like this one is), depending on the amount of content in that different stories/arcs.
Yeah, It’s the End of Nightmares thing that I think makes this release seem so big. Would love to see more overlap in the future too.
