Ele is certainly my favorite, but it is also the reason I’m gone April 4 for a different game. How a game company can keep around so many broken builds in certain classes so long (and i’ll include the early form of D/D ele) and not see its bad for a game is beyond me.
To be honest, I am fully convinced developers do NOT play their games. There is no way they can and still have some of the skills/traits.
Best of luck to those of you who stay and for any staff ele, even more luck.
Funniest thing and I almost forgot it. We were just talking in map chat today about not seeing an ele playing in WvW in our past 4 matchups. Then we saw a little upleveled ele and none of us could bring ourselves to kill him.

ET, we are beyond pathetic. Seriously, seriously bad play. We don’t deserve to hold onto anything with how bad we are. The past two weeks have been horribly pathetic and I just can’t emphasize enough how bad we are playing.
Tip 1: Build rams when they are placed. They do more damage than you shooting the gate.
Tip 2: Build the cats when they are placed. They do damage to walls, you do NOT. Quit fighting the kitten wall for 2 minutes before using your supply.
Tip 3: Build defensive siege. When a place is being attacked, especially a tower, and 15 of us are defending the commander should NOT have to build all 3 superior arrow carts by himself. That is beyond pathetic and we deserve to lose if you continue doing that.
Tip 4: Learn how to place siege, for the love of god don’t place arrow carts where they can easily be hit, you just use up valuable supply.
Tip 5: Defend!!!!! If you are called to get somewhere, get there. Do not wait until the enemy zerg of 50 arrives and you can’t get in.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s basic common sense. I guess the best I can do is wish you luck, cause we have no skill.
I don’t care about fighting 15 v 50 to 70 all the time, what kitten es me off is the following….
I don’t even bother throwing siege anymore for ET. 4 times this week so far I’ve thrown 15 superior ac’s, ballistas, etc up in highly defensible towers only to have the commanders….take a camp instead of defending or defend a tower that has no supply and no siege (and subsequently lose everything).

This thread is in serious need of more GILKIN.
Let me see if I have this right. Some (not all mind you) people on the server running constant 50-70 man groups against 10-25 people (for a week straight now) are complaining that a small group from another server are taking out their small groups and solos?
LAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
Just making sure I was reading everything right.
Those on Hod who are having issues dying once in a blue moon. Yep you corpse jump, yep your groups gank solos, yep your groups siege stuff needlessly and also throw siege on top of dead bodies, yep you all do the same things; but to a VASTLY larger extent. Just because you, personally, aren’t there doesn’t mean it is not happening. Quit being sore winners already. If your server does it, expect it back from some people.
Yawn.
I beat you all down, end of story. But it’s only because I’m sexy and I know it, and I ain’t afraid to show it. Oh, I work out!
Stay classy TSK (SF) guild <rolls eyes>
Heh, people from ET and ferg still play WvW?
As an old ET commander it wasn’t uneven fights, it wasn’t lack of manpower, it wasn’t the continual beat down…………. it was the trolling
As much as I love ET, it has no one to blame for their situation but themselves. They allowed too many trolls to over run the place so people bailed, as did many of the commanders.
After the transfers, on ET, if you lost one battle, in an entire night, no matter the odds against you it was troll city. You could win 20 encounters in a row, even while out-manned and it meant nothing, because as soon as you lost one lousy fight you got trolled the rest of the night mercilessly. Most of the decent commanders said F that and left or just don’t play anymore.
I’m not welcome at GoM, I have been told so.
Who has been saying that? They obviously aren’t speaking for the whole server. I’m not aware of anyone who “blacklisted” you.
Whispers and map chat, wasn’t anything blacklisting, just suggested my ‘commanding style’ might not fit in. No ill will or malice was intended or at least I didn’t take it that way.
Okay so running 70 v 30 is the suck and exactly what I had hoped to avoid. Unfortunately, that is unlikely now. It is too easy to look great when you don’t have to do anything really spectacular to win.
To me transfer wins to “SF” our opponents is the bore. My questions is would FC or GoM; depending on who turns out the worse of the two servers after a week or two welcome a commander from ET? I do have an unorthodox style and like to use caps while leading so people know what to do (lets face it not everyone uses TS). Anyway let me know as I wouldn’t want to come over and cause issues.
Gilkin, don’t leave ET. You’re my favorite commander. You are one of two or three commanders that if I see in WvW I will run to join immediately. In all honesty I’m not a huge fan of Agg either but I’m sure at some point they’ll get bored and move on to another server. We could really use you when that time came. And if you do leave, it will be a sad day for everyone on ET.
Best of luck with whichever you decide however.
I don’t want to give the impression I don’t like AGG, I have nothing against them at all in any form or fashion. I just like the impossible fight. I loved the 15 v 30 to 50+ odds we use to face from October through to February.
Winning the fights we engaged in were what mattered to me, not overall winning (as there was no chance of that). I don’t like the guaranteed win, and that is where I see ET going. I might be right or wrong in that perspective and I’m sure others will disagree about the ‘guaranteed’ part. However, when I play…at the times I can play…there is no chance of losing; we just field way too many people.
I’m not welcome at GoM, I have been told so. That leaves FC and since they are the bottom tier server in tier 8 that would make it just right for me. Again, nothing against any guild…I just want a challenge, but the times I can play its just face-roll easy, not due to skill per se, just numbers fielded.
In 10 years I have not liked any guild I have ever been in. In fact for years I would never even join guilds. TAC was the first guild and group of people I felt at home among. I will surely miss them.
Well, I’m not really getting why Gilkin is leaving… By the way he’s talking, it’s like ET turned unto the new SF… I didn’t see the 70man zerg he mentioned, unless he’s talking about Agg and FoE offensives (which I tend to avoid for personal reasons)…
But if the game will be more fun for him at FC, I can just wish him good luck because I have nothing against him, except that since his name will become “Ferguson Crossing Invader” he’ll be attacked on sight.
We must not be fighting at the same times because from 6pm eastern to 11pm eastern we now generally have a queue non stop in EB, are taking over stuff in the other BLs and normally have our own capped. Last night we were running 70 people into 30 -35 and people were laughing about it. The same thing we railed SF about, we are now doing.
70 v 30 is wonderful to win and take stuff over, but that isn’t what I like, I don’t enjoy it. To me it is a boring snooze fest. Now things might equal out at other times, but I don’t get to play at those times except on rare occasion for a very limited amount of in game time.
As I said I’ll wait a week to see if it evens out (or if I was even welcome), but I want to lead when things are looking bad (which is the only time I really ever lead), not just when things look good and anyone can lead to victory. Different strokes for different folks.

Excuse me everyone, I was looking for the tier 8: ET/FC/SF server forums………I have mistakenly found the tier 2 forums …..can anyone help me?
People seem to think moving to a new tier will make things better. I have been to almost every single tier in this game. I think people in tier 8 have just been jaded by the long time of being outmanned or in a stale matchup.
Winning or losing means nothing really. SF hasn’t won because they are ‘better’. I will mention and give props to KING at this point though. Anyway, what matters is each individual engagement. Who cares if you lose in points when you win on a fight by fight basis. That should be the goal.
Forget tiers, trust me a good portion of them aren’t any better (and some even worse). Sure there are a few individuals and guilds who are better and more organized (who make up for the lackluster play of the others) in those upper tiers, but on the whole, meh. It still ends up a numbers game and coverage.
What ET needs to focus on is each single fight. Win those fights and who cares about the rest? Have fun and beat your enemies when you can. ET has been outmanned a very large portion since October of last year. Does that mean we didn’t have fun fights, that we didn’t roll our opponents when the odds were against us?
What I am saying is don’t lose yourselves in this recent ‘push’ for players. Do what you can, have fun in the fights you do engage in, and keep working on your strategy and gameplay to make things better.
THANK YOU ANET FOR RUINING OUR SERVER.
So many transfers we now have queues. I have long been outspoken about people wanting transfers to come to our server when people would post it. We had it rough but we had a good place. I didn’t transfer to kaineg because I didn’t want to be on a huge server.
Son of a kitten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I will have to leave the server I enjoyed to go to a bottom tier 8 server once this one sky rockets up. GAH i’m so mad right now.
Who the hell is TLC? That’s a lot of bragging for someone no one knows. Until a couple days ago I was out there commanding a heck of a lot and if I don’t know your guild tag by now, you are pretty much meaningless in WvW as an opponent.
Still trying to figure out why you would use the flame ability of the ram myself. [/quote]
If an enemy ram is in the way and you can’t damage the gate with the ram you are using please hit the 2 skill. You will see why that skill is on the ram. Hitting 3 times right in a row for double damage of the 1 skill is win. Especially when you can then, without cooldown, hit the 1 skill.
We also don’t fight with a guild style mentality, we fight as a server, a legion of one, no matter what the guild tag may be. We raise, defend, and follow command, anyone willing to fight for us. This the people we put on the field, may as well all be in the same guild, even if our tags are different, we are all Eredon Terrace Defenders, and we will fight, to the very last one of us.
Noble sentiment and I wish this was actually true, but while most will do this not all guilds work together or for the good of the server on ET.
This fight is pointless, I’m done commanding. It’s not just the horribly uneven fight that is never going to end; some other commanders I have expressed my opinion to know the reason. I’d ask that none of them or my guild mates to bring it up on the boards. Best of luck all.
First off, no need to bring in tier 8 chest thumping into this thread; completely off topic. We have around 17 other tier 8 threads going.
Don’t go to tier 8 if you want even fights or non zerg fights. That is just how it is. For even fights go to tier 6. If you really want tier 8 and don’t just want to stomp roll people FC is the place you want to go. They seem to have the lowest number of WvW players right now. If you want a bit more leeway ET is the place to go, plus we have exp trains. CHOO CHOO!!!!!!
Here is what you do: I did and still do this on ET in tier 8.
1. Be very vocal.
2. When no commander is on start using caps once something is about to be taken, like MOVING TO PANGLOSS NEXT
3. Be the first to head in the direction you want to go.
4. Some people will give you crap about the caps, ignore them once you lead people to enough EXP they don’t give a crap if you are throwing poo at them, they will follow.
5. Be assertive, but not overly assertive.
6. Get use to absolutely crappy commanders, every server has its share.
In my case I led for about 1.5 months without a tag when I first got to ET. Before long people would follow me even if a commander tag would show up. A couple of the commanders really just started following me after awhile. I even still will lead without my tag on when i’m alting.
Hope you enjoyed the ramrod this weekend SF!
Sincerely,
Tactical Terror (TAC)
We don’t need a celebrity to represent us.
TEAM RAMROD!
It takes less than a second to hit M, look at your map, and see white or orange swords. It is easy to do it even while leading. If you can’t do that you pretty much suck as a commander; if you can’t do it as someone in a zerg who has very little to actually think about and do outside of immediate combat you are pretty bad.
The orange swords at 25 lets you know about what size of force you are facing or going to run into now. It provides a much better scale of what a commander should do to try and combat a tower/keep siege.
My vote is for keeping it exactly as it is now, wtf do you all opposed care, apparently you don’t watch the map anyway.
Man so depressing to wake up and see ET in second place again
just hope FC comes out in force tonight and changes that.
Do you need a hug, bro?
Do not worry, remember with 5 or 6 players ET and FC can face down any number of SF players. It apparently happens all the time. Still trying to be on one of these SF zergs that gets faced down by 10% of their numbers. Maybe I am just so good that all the zergs I happen to run with never lose an outmanned fight?
It was actually a SF guy who said this in another thread, not sure how it became ET now so -1 for idiot trolling. The dude on your server was saying how he and just 4 others ran over 30 ET and does it all the time.
Anyway, real leaders and people are out on the battlefield doing it through actions proving it day in and day out, we don’t have time to fake brag or troll on forums.
Yet here you are.
And there was no bragging or trolling in my post. In fact, nothing I said could even be construed as either. How about a sig, eh?

I think I am the only one on ET that doesn’t want transfers to come in. I don’t need to win each week, I don’t care about ‘winning’. I care about each time I am leading on just kicking my opponents butts. I enjoy trying to figure out how to do that.
I could care less about keeps and towers except for getting people XP and maybe having a good place to just battle at from time to time. I enjoy attacking and taking defended towers and also holding a tower against superior numbers. Both of which, we do, and do well. I enjoy when we kick the crap out of an opponent that shouldn’t lose to us, yet do when numbers are equal or even very lopsided in their favor.
I like rallying the force, sometimes starting small and working into a larger force to compete. That is why I normally don’t start leading until we are really getting our butts kicked. On every server I have been on certain commanders, once things turn bad, disappear so they don’t look as bad. Other commanders, once things turn bad, show up and try to do something about it.
I like to think people enjoy themselves while I’m leading. Being the underdog has its perks. I’d rather win when we shouldn’t than lose when we shouldn’t due to sloppy zergling play.
What’s funny is that a good 85% of the fights I’m a part of in WvW (SF player) generally involves the following:
— Enemies totaling x2-x5 the size of my force
— Both ET and FC attacking just SF locations at all times (because apparently they need two servers to take back 20% of a map for an hour before we take it all back)
— The ET or FC zerg wiping (90% chance)I mean kitten guys, when 4 SF can kill an entire ET zerg (35+) after the wall goes down (with no siege to help), that’s sad. Very sad. And this is not an isolated event, myself and a few others do similar battles (and win) on a daily basis.
And seriously guys, failing 70% of all SM raids when there is an entire server knocking at the northern AND another server at the South-eastern gates … wow.
I’m not saying SF is good (we’re in bottom Tier, so obviously not), we’re just not as bad. Please train your people. Thank you.
EDIT: Forgot to add that I’m impressed with the current change in power in ET, you guys are providing at least some resistance lately. Which cannot be said for FC, sadly.
Gilkin rules…..er wait……
Why would you give up? ET has been face rolled by every single opponent for the past what, about 4.5 months? We haven’t really changed tactics, some of the commanders leveled alts in WvW, bu we have been there.
Here is how you raise your servers morale:
1. Run exp trains. Nothing big go take sentries/camps/dolys. Hit hard hit fast move on.
2. Keep on the move. Doesn’t matter where, if people are moving they think something is getting done.
3. Hit the little areas. Vet worm, vet warg, centaur camp, quaggans, all very easy and fast; lots of exp and you can get some fights at those areas too.
4. Be bold, talk, and let people know what to do. YOU MUST BE VOCAL.
5. Learn names, say hello when you see people come on, make em feel welcome and that they are needed, cause everyone is needed.
Finally, don’t be afraid to switch it up, try some crazy kitten maneuvers, go nuts from time to time, set up siege an hour in advance for what you know will be an incoming zerg eventually, etc.
Most important, make it fun and you can even while outnumbered.
(Gilkin)
Anyone who knows me or has spent even a little time in ET knows I AM NOT QUIET. The one major thing I have seen in all the servers I have been on is lack of proper communication from commanders. This goes from tier 1 to tier 8 and at least 4 other tiers i’ve seen in between.
People get blinders on in WvW, in this game especially. Few actually look at map chat or pay attention to it when red names are anywhere in the vicinity. Few people are on voice chat, even if the server has a TS channel set up.
This is partly Anet’s fault. I have said since beta they needed in game voice chat for squads. That would have improved this game’s PvP 10 fold and many more players would be out in the borderlands.
Commanders if you don’t think you have the time to spell it all out, you do. Now in the upper tiers not so much, but you designate a guildie to do it for you. However, down here in the lower tiers you have to map chat it and say chat it. You have to be up front, leading, so the troops can see what to do and when to do it.
You also need to make good decisions, if you are on the less populated servers, since the margin for error is so slim. Yes, people will end up putting on ignore. Yes, people will call you out in chat. People will not always follow commands either. That is part of the job.
That begs: what do people like? They like to get exp and they like to win. These wins don’t have to be super huge battles. Get some wins going, paint your map a bit and they will come.
Now Lets forget the obvious numbers issues with the non winning servers for a moment and talk about command issues on the servers:
SF: Has it’s problems due to server transfers and the quality of those transfers. It brought the whole tactical playing field of your server down tremendously. Zergles for the loss. You all should not lose a good portion of the battles you end up losing.
FC: I really don’t like to say this, but did a lot of your commanders leave or take a break? There doesn’t appear to be much cohesion at all, except for once in a great while.
ET: We are too busy bickering with each other. Certain commanders/guilds dont get along and I’ve been a part of that to some extent. Some times we click just right; other times there is just too much fighting. THat holds us back tremendously.
Anyway, that’s my take on it.
I wasn’t contacted last night until the bg was blue and we were heading out for the night ;/
edit: I agree some coverages could be better like our aus / EU timezones could use a little filling but for the most part there are a lot of nice people that just need motivation
At the time in question we held the ET overloook, veloka, and mendon, that was it. We didn’t even have the supply camps. That’s why I just go <boggle> sometimes about ET. Why lose one of your only remaining upgraded towers to take…NPC ogres. Anyway, I have a week left and I’m just going to keep my commander tag off until its time to transfer.
Hmm, how many hackers from the other servers have I seen, oh a bunch. How many have a raged about. None.
Anyway, I enjoyed your 30 v 1 at Mendons a little earlier (started out as 9 v 1). I did my best calling out for 20 minutes for anyone to help, but killing npc ogres was too important to our ET guys instead of defending a fully upgraded tower. Thanks to those few who did eventually try to come assist.
Anyway I’ve had some good fights with you all, but as of now this commander is looking for a new server and I guess I have a week to figure out where that will be. Perhaps the blacklisting on ET will eventually stop (our biggest problem) where certain guilds wont help other guilds commanders. Best of luck to you all.

What the hell happened to ET?
We lost a couple guilds (one was big into WvW) and a good leader. They switched servers and I won’t go into why but to be honest from what I was told I completely understand.
After two weeks of total domination there is no reason to post a score for week 3 except to rub it in. We all know Kain fields 2-5 times (sometimes even more) the number of people either of the other two servers can do . Trust me, it had nothing to do with being more highly skilled that got Kain that high score.
Many of you were alright opponents, your server had at least one decent commander. Anyway best of luck. See you all back down here in 3-4 weeks.
I love getting tells from Kain two account players while I am commanding. Having them tell me they are spying my location so they can call their friends in is a pretty big compliment. Especially, since they go on to say it is so they can target me and take me out. Pretty bold, but ANET doesn’t care about that kind of stuff. Anyway, enjoy the game and keep the compliments coming!!!
I am sure kaining will move up next round to tier 7. Apparently they should not be in tier 8 at this point .
So it’s gonna be ET vs HOD vs FC eventually.T7 is very, very even right now. The sides are within 10 thousand of each other. If the system works to find the most fair match ups then I suspect Kaineng is stuck in T8 for now.
Yes, cause our tier loves being out manned 3 – 6 times our number (and many times even more than that) every second on every borderland and eternal. Awesome, lets keep that the same. Especially since Kain just got a couple new big PvP guilds yesterday. Awesome.
Leading can certainly be frustrating. Leading on a low pop server is especially hard, trust me I lead on Eredon where even your low pop server outnumbers us and kain outnumbers us most day 3-6 to 1 at a minimum.
I do have to say though that on Eredon I have only had a couple time where people openly said stuff, most of the time it is the opposite. You get praise even when we die O.o, the hey it was a good try kind of thing. Anyways…..
There are plenty of servers. I had to change servers 6 times to find one I liked. Even leaving friends from other games to find a place I was happy. I’d suggest changing serves, you sound too frustrated to stay and this is a game and not worth the misery.
Nevermind, I’m an idiot. I just found out about the selling fee. I just won’t craft anymore as you can’t put stuff like that on the Ah and make a profit. Crafting to lose money, yay. This should have more notice though as apparently, most every crafter doesn’t know when they are posting items they are going to lose money.
This might be a bug so I’m putting it here.
When you craft an item and put it on the auction house it takes out the posting fee as you put the item on the AH and twice after.
I recently have been crafting the 20 slot gossamer bags. I put them on the AH for 12 gold 14 silver and 99 copper. The posting fee is immediately taken out of my current coins. When the bags sell I only get 10 gold and 69 silver.
Why am I not getting the amount I’ve posted them for when someone buys that? This has happened 4 times now where I’m charged fees both when I put the item on the AH and twice once the item sells.
This has to be a bug.
ET doesn’t even have bots in cursed shores anymore, every camp is always contested, and you are almost always alone in most map areas (even lions arch is a ghost town). Prime-time Friday and Saturday evening I was one of 7 people in the cursed shores area. The group events there are never done and arahs is never open due to no one being around. Heck, it takes several hours to get groups to do fractals (or any other dungeon), unless you are in one of the very few remaining guilds.
This matchup has nothing to do with skill level, it’s numbers plain and simple. You normally have more people rez camping us (with siege…lol) than we can muster if we brought everyone from PvE and PvP together out there.
