This thread should probably become sticky.
I found this … not so ideally coded (with swallowing exceptions being tip of iceberg) and just raw json data provider.
So here is my fork of library for advanced use: https://code.google.com/p/gw2api
Basically since launch, my client has been freezing when chat box text input is active and I am typing message, usually when hitting enter.
Game freezes and stops completelly responding to any input, including alt-tabing or other system keys. It has to be shut down via task manager by killing its process.
It happens fairly rarely, but is quite aggravating when it happens.
Add new finisher type for melee range – “Hit”/“Strike” finisher – which will trigger on melee attacks.
Extra incentive to use melee abilities and stay in close range opposed to staying at range and throwing projectiles, usually they would provide buffs or conditions that help staying at melee range.
Dark – Blindness Condition
Ethereal – Weakness Condition
Fire – Furry Boon
Ice – Chilled Condition
Light – Protection Boon
Lightning – Vigor Boon
Poison – Weakness Condition
Smoke – Blindness Condition
Water – Regeneration Boon
When switching areas, it is pain to be swapping gathering tools so that you do not end up mining Iron with copper pick and end up with ruined chunks.
Also, many nodes are non-descriptive: I can tell that Iron node might require iron pick, but I have no idea what tool do “Frozen Herbs” require without checking out wiki.
I suggest these improvements:
“F” selection of node should be color coded:
- Red when you have no tool equipped or when you have tool that would result in ruined items.
- Current Yellow when you have better than required tool equipped
- Green when you have just right tool
I really hope they will eventually introduce this feature because otherwise it is very hard to find weapons that match my armor dyes.
Guess this is “expansion” grade feature effort-wise.
I think it would be useful if you has better overview of nearby allies even if you are not in party with them:
If you are ungrouped, you could switch party interface to show n closest allies with ability to show only players or players as well as npcs.
Why? To show their health levels, conditions and boons and possibly other info (heart status as for normal party members) – this would be useful for coordination.
Also, some abilities affect only 5 closest allies, so it would be nice to see who exactly will they affect.
Performace: Client alrealdy knows this, so no extra data will be sent (it shows health and condition/boon related animations)
Dailies provide variety of tasks, but they do not really affect economy, i think it would be nice to have:
Salvage 1-3-5 items
Travel 1 times
This would be easily achievable by normal gameplay without having to go out of your way but it could also serve as sink for items – rather than selling on TP or vendoring them, they would be salvaged.
Also, since one map travel would be required for coin, it will encourage to swap areas during gameplay session (if they do not manage to get defeated… cheapskates with perfect gameplay could just use wp in city)
Alternatively, this could be separate from “Play the world” dailies, instead being another set of “Economy” dailies which would also provide mystic coin:
Salvage 3-10-20 items
Craft 5-8-11-15 items
Mystic Forge 1-3-5 items
Sell 1-3-5 items to vendors
Basically, people would very likely to buy cheapest materials, craft some junk on alt (likely just refined wood to planks), salvage what they can and vendor what they can not and then just buy some extra stuff to toss to mystic forge and for salvage.
Ideally, this would make pretty big dent in oversupply of materials as well as items on TP.
And it looks fun to optimize “economy” routine.
While it is way too cost prohibitive to dub all character dialogue with multiple voice actors to give players choice of voice for out characters, there is simple technical solution:
Allow us to adjust postprocessing – pitch, speed of playback, equalizer… Possibly with few presets.
