Remove butt cape and I’ll buy this outfit.
Thank you Santa Charr…twas a pleasant surprise!
Bitterfrost is easily the best place to farm UM atm. Not only can you farm berries on alts, but each chest you open yields 15-20 um. There are perhaps 1-2 dozen chests, not to mention the um you get from the events, which there are many.
I got 10k um for the housing berry node in about 1-2 days of casual playing (I didn’t salvage any berries to get that amount either). No way can you get that in the other 2 zones.
Your Charr looks awesome! Love it!
Personally I’d be ticked off if I got this drop from a BLC. A waste of a “reward” item.
So when we’re not in a seasonal event, you get 3 RNG slots, but during seasonal event you get 2 RNG slots and 1 (in this case) ToT bag?
Yikes, that’s a kick in the junk.
I liked it better when a 4th slot was added for this type of thing rather than removing one of our RNG chances.
Thanks for the warnings. I’ll hold my “customer appreciation” key until next week when I am guaranteed to NOT get a ToT bag in the 1st slot.
I hope they make more zones like Ember Bay in the future. I love having the option to go there to farm karma, unbound magic and petrified wood.
Emphasis on “option”. I don’t do it every day but maybe when I’m winding down for the night I’ll spend 10 minutes (or less) there to do the dailies, and in passing get a boost in the items mentioned above.
When I decided to make my Legendary, it took me a couple days of WvW to complete the track. I’m not a big WvW player, but focusing a little bit of time will get you there. If you coincide that with the dailies you can spend even less time there due to the potions.
Welcome!
I alt a lot so I’m not sure which character I’d consider my “main”, but NECRO is definitely one of my favorites. It gets even better once you can get to the REAPER specialization. I found necro to be fun at low levels cause you can have an army of undead minions at your disposal. Necro has high survivability as well…good tanky class.
I exchange gold for gems sometimes.
I buy gem cards sometimes.
I spend gems when they have sales in the gem store…discounts, not “limited time releases”. Put up discounted sales and I’ll spend cash for gems, especially discounts on bank expansions, additional bags, material storage, ETC. I don’t buy fluff items like minis, mail carriers, or finishers. I have my 3 unlimited harvesting tools, won’t spent a cent on any of those going forward.
When Anet had their month of daily sales, I spent cash. Probably the last time I did…
I always MF 4 rares or 4 exotic weapons (or 3 exotics + mf stone) and have gotten 6 or 7 pre’s over the past year or so. Once I received 2 pre’s within a couple days, then the next came months later.
I’ve received pre’s using both of those scenarios. All I’d suggest is to do that and pray to the RNG gods.
I’ve had pretty good luck with this. Yesterday, (in stacks of 10) I attempted 4 times and got 30 clovers. The other day I think I was around 50% return rate. Maybe just lucky on the RNG?
Same problem. I can log in to the character selection but can’t log in on a character.
I’m calling it now, that guarded circus area is going to be a new Royal Terrace type gem store area.
This is the first thing I thought of…
Love the new map design and repeatable heart concept. Enjoyed the ley line “roller coaster” ride immensely. Really excited about this update!
Agreed. The outfit is pretty nice…won’t consider it with those ghastly shoulders. Same with the previous new outfit, which I don’t recall the name. Outfit is cool but the shoulders ruin it for me.
Fix it please.
Yes please. The clicky click of material promotion is tedious.
/applaud.
Very well done!
GW2 has some of the best gameplay features to me, some of which make other games more “toxic” with the community. I’ve played many MMORPGs but the 2 I’ve played most (outside of GW2) is Lotro and Swtor.
- Instanced nodes (no fighting over resources)
- No mob tapping (no fighting over stolen mob XP/loot)
- Dynamic Level Adjustment! This is huge…most games you walk out of the lower level zones and don’t look back, making returning to them trivial at best.
- Crafting is probably the least intrusive of any MMORPG I’ve played.
- Tasks instead of quests. Auto bestowing and completing “quests” rather than speaking to NPCs before and after completion.
- Beautiful graphics.
The weapons you equip determine whether you are melee or ranged, and all classes have both options.
In other games I tend to prefer ranged classes but Guardian is a good starting class. My first was Ranger and that was a lot of fun too, especially trying to find combat pets in the different zones.
Elementalist is a great ranged class too with lots of AoE attacks. Pretty versatile in that you can quickly switch from attack to healing attunements.
Good luck and welcome to GW2.
Silver fed, doesn’t need discount price
Discounts on…
Storage expander
Shared storage
I might buy keys if they’re discounted.
Probably would buy a discounted Phoenix glider but not full if full priced.
Mesmer, pretty much for the same reason the op stated. I enjoy the complexity, and love dual wielding swords.
I pretty much alt randomly between the other classes but Necro is probably my 2nd favorite.
Is it really this time of the week again already…
you know the time where someone asks the same question with almost the same wording….
Well we also have posts about housing and mounts on the front page again…so I guess it is that time again.
4, been playing since May 2015. All from mystic forge by combining either 4 rares or 4 exotics.
If you get wings make sure it’s on a Norn. The wings are huge and do a great job irritating everyone
TBH I love the copper fed-o-matic. I have it in a shared inventory slot and never have to worry about kits on ANY character. Now with the right-click option to salvage everything of a certain level (or lower), it has enormous value (to me).
One thing I’ll say is with the Anet anniversary closely approaching, you may see discounts and returning items. I am holding my gems until the anniversary sale, because with my luck I’ll buy something now and it’ll be 50% off in a couple weeks.
Look at previous sales to get an idea of what’s possibly on the horizon.

I for one have had the adverse response to those “returning” items. Something I wanted 2 months ago isn’t as appealing anymore once it’s released.
An outfit that I wanted for my sylvari ele is no longer needed because I’m now playing my human necro. Or Caithe’s Bloom no longer appeals to me because I got my hands on a skin in game that I like better. My impulse buying has been stymied by lack of availability of the item.
Being able to sell all green/blue sigils and runes with the sell junk button.
Or have options like the new salvage options.
Sell Junk.
Sell minor runes/sigils.
Sell major runes/sigils.
I saw a suggestion to allow us to to salvage them to nothing…essentially destroy them in our packs in bulk. I’d be okay with that.
Saving builds would be fantastic.
Keyring would be great, even as an upgrade “convenience” feature.
Well five of these will guarantee a ticket obviously but 50 keys should let you get two more keys with scraps or actual drops. Note I said should. You have, according to the math, a 70.2% chance of getting 2 or more. About a 29.3% chance for 1 and a 0.5% of not getting a ticket drop or more than 10 scraps. The math says the average is 2.18 tickets out of 50 keys.
A little more math and that lowers the average cost per ticket by 26.5% or so (4500 gems for 3.18 Vs 4200 for 2.18 on average). We are still talking more than $50€ (1400 gold currently) of gems.
…and have a 99% chance of being greatly disappointed in the drops you get.
Thank you…appreciate the communication on this!
You are still a guardian.
I hope weight restrictions aren’t lifted, because otherwise we’ll probably see more of this:
lol
I agree that the skin restrictions should be lifted. As mentioned above, outfits tossed out the armor weight “look and feel”. My elemental can wear plate armor outfit. My guardian can wear raiment of the lich.
All well and good, but there are technical limitations as to why they can’t “lift” the restrictions. They’d have to redo a major component of the game code in order to do this, which would not be financially beneficial for them
Lotro did this a long time ago…there was a time when your cosmetic armor was limited to the weight designated to your class, but that was changed a few years after release. If a dated game like that can do it, I have faith that this one can. When entering the PvP area characters reverted to their base armor and the skins were not visible.
Although their cosmetic system is superior to GW2 so perhaps it is easier for a game created in 2007 to do this and not one created in 2012
. You could create an outfit (I think you got 2 for free then pay for each additional outfit slot). You can set up several outfits and activate them as you wish, without constantly using transmutation charges.

I agree. I would have bought the outfit in a heartbeat. I don’t want the other stuff, but for some reason they won’t break out the outfit and glider from the pack.
I’ll just hold onto my gems in the mean time.
I have mixed feelings about player housing. My experience from games that actually have housing is that players, in general, rarely use it.
It tends to be a cool place to store your trophies but beyond that they offer no functionality.
Lotro…housing instances are ghost towns. You get personal storage there but with shared storage accessible in towns, there’s no reason to visit your home.
Swtor…pretty much the same.
Asheron’s Call (going waaay back) had the most functionality in that you can hook items that buff you. Items you quest for and are rewarded with can be hooked to provide a small buff to your stats.
AC had the coolest feature in that housing was not instanced. You could stumble across various housing settlements. The other 2 listed above were instanced.
About the only benefit is that Anet could put housing specific items on the gem store as a revenue generator. Both Lotro and Swtor did that. As for usability, I have yet to experience housing that is more than a fluff item.
Just like SHARED INVENTORY slots, they should create SHARED HARVEST SLOTS. I wouldn’t mind paying for this convenience…
I’m sure someone at Anet has already thought of this. Right now people just swap using their bank or shared inventory slots. Selling shared harvest slots is another income generator.
Reading this thread, we understand your questions and want to share a little information: This set is designed to be a special, exclusive set and therefore it’s a little different than most. There are a couple of other interesting factors that you’ll want to know: The set is available for one ticket. It will remain priced at one ticket into the future, so someone who wants it now doesn’t need to be concerned about it becoming unavailable or about it rising in price in the future. Other sets currently available are not account bound, such as the Cavalier Weapon Set which was recently released at a price of 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket and remains at that price now. In addition, we do intend to continue to offer tradeable sets in the future. If you’d like a preview of the new set, go to your bank wardrobe and filter for “Privateer.” We hope this answers your questions, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Why is the set special? Why would we think it’s anything but you testing the waters on how much you can screw over customer before there’s backlash?
It’s special “just because”.
Seeing some truly bad trends with the direction of this game. Getting close to reevaluating where I spend my time and money in the MMORPG world.
It is crazy how high the price is now. It’s unfortunate because I tend to spend more RL money when gem prices are down. I augment my RL money with in game gold exchange, and by doing that I tend to burn through my gems pretty quick. Now with gem exchange so high, I’ve become far more selective on what I buy.
I used to spend $20-$40 per month in RL money but now I’m sitting on 2300 gems that I bought 2+ months ago. Rather than impulse spending on frivolous stuff like keys, I just focus on stuff that I need…or is actually on sale at a reduced price.
This is a horrible fix for something that isn’t a problem in the first place.
This…
How long will the x3 boost to permanent contracts last? I’ve always viewed those items as too expensive for the minor convenience they afford, so it’s nice that their prices are going down.
1% x 3 is only 3%. The original drop rate is not even close to 1%. This isn’t incentive enough for me to even consider wasting my gems on keys.
said it on reddit, will say it again ^^ I think “Incoming!” is a far superior skill name for “Retreat!”.
How about “this is my only sprint skill”? Kinda long but quite appropriate…
I’ve only used the Experimental Rifle, which has been useful. I’m going to check out some of those other items….thanks.
Chaos weapons! Black lion vaults have been reopened for old BL Weapon sets, so I know it’s possible! PLEASE!
I second this one! I’ve purchased a few Chaos skins with gold but many are quite expensive. Give me a reason to use my BL tickets.
I thought u were going to talk about back pieces, I was gonna suggest other animals like a turtle shell back piece
Although it would be interesting to see a gliding turtle
1. Reaper
2. Mesmer
Playing Mesmer lately and really enjoying that class, but I think Reaper is still tops for me.
Hullujah! An angry thread.
About what?
my crappy computer…snip
There I fixed it for ya.
On a serious note, yes it sucks but it’s not truly a game mechanic problem. The chest never disappears, you just log into an instance of the map that you didn’t participate in.
I had issues like this when I first started playing and yes, it’s very frustrating (especially Tequatl). I made sure I joined a group so that way, if I dc’d, I can get back and claim the chest. If I notice a group member dc’d, I make sure I stick around for a bit to give them a path back to the correct instance.
This game tends to be a lot more forgiving than other games, where you dc during a boss fight and you have no recourse to getting credit, even after you reconnect and join the group. The above-mentioned method works, so until you can fix your computer issues (or replace your PC), make sure you join a group. Doesn’t hurt to mention that you have dc issues so hopefully someone sticks around at the end if you crash during the fight.

I’ve monitored the exchange rate for the last 8 months or so, and typically it spikes as new items hit the store, but gradually comes down in a couple days. It simply isn’t coming down.
A few months ago I exchanged at a rate of 65 gold to 400 gems. Recently it hasn’t gotten below 92 gold for 400 gems and tends to stay near 100g for 400 gems.
I suspected that Anet tinkered with the base exchange rate as part of “inflation”. I guess there could be other reasons but I don’t see those reasons as affecting the exchange that much. I’d expect to see a gradual increase but not a spike in a short period that stays near that peak level for several weeks (and counting).
The mini spooky skeleton glows green at night. That’s the only time I notice it’s nighttime.
I would like to see a more distinctive nighttime too.
Parrot wings
Silver/Platinum/Steel
I’d be happy with parrot wings.
Yep that’s my guess. Blue Parrot, Red Parrot, Green Parrot, Yellow Parrot…it’s endless
