infinite transmutation charge 10/10 would buy

if you have infinite everything then 1) things get pretty boring with no interesting rewards and 2) it makes it harder for Anet to make money, so they are forced down other avenues. -

I’ve never purchased, and never will purchase, transmutation charges. I’d actually consider this for the convenience factor so they’d be making more money off of me with a permanent unlock than the current model.

Paying for changing your look is one of my pet peeves in this game, so I use one of the few outfits that I’ve purchased until a character gets to 80, then I transmute my armor once. I sometimes change things up but not often, because I really don’t like having to pay to change my cosmetics.

Why haven't you built a Legendary Weapon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skigorn.7910

skigorn.7910

1. I don’t like grinding.
2. I have never looted a precursor even though I played since pre-release.
3. I like other skins more than most of the Legendaries.
4. Old legendary can be bought, no prestige to own one or two.

This about sums it up for me, except #2. I’ve gotten a few precursors and I’ve only played for a year. The first thought I have when I get a precursor is: “do I sell it and make a bunch of gold, or do I keep it an lose a bunch of gold grinding mats?” I typically sell it within 30 seconds of looting it.

To me it’s a waste of time and gold. I’m not going to spend years grinding for 1 weapon. There’s no fun in that. I prefer the Lotro approach, get your weapon and build it over time. Not every weapon is identical, some are more powerful than others because of the time put into building it.

Don’t use the waypoints if you prefer running from place to place.

Asking them all to be removed IS a bit too much since I’m sure plenty of us prefer using them. Watching your character travel for 5-10 minutes when ever going somewhere isn’t that fun.

Best answer right here. Don’t ask for the game to be reconfigured because you don’t like a feature. Adjust your perspective and playstyle.

I’ve played enough games to know that I abhor slow travel. I played Lotro for many years and they still had (the last time I played several years ago) slow travel between certain locales. There is absolutely no immersion when something takes 5+ minutes to complete and I don’t need to be at the keyboard.

The same goes for crafting in Lotro. I could literally spend hours refining materials. How is that “playing” a game?!?

I’ll add that while BDO looks interesting and may be fun in some respects, knowing that it contains several features that I detest in a game means I’ll never even consider playing it.

You know, just cutting down the exp. required to level up solves all of this without shifting anything else. Do that by 10~12% and you get what you want for the most part. As for the hero challenges … I can’t really say there’s a fix for that.

I think we level up too fast, though. At least from level-to-level. I do not like outleveling zones, despite the level scaling.

This! And that’s just normal game play…add in some crafting and you can really level quickly. I think my first character (about a year ago) took 3 weeks to hit cap, and that’s with no tomes, boosts, etc. I’m on my 8th character now and not a single one so far has taken more than a week or two to get to cap.

I have played many MMORPGs and none have so freely given out XP, nor allow you to hit cap so quickly through normal gameplay.

Yes thank you. I looked forward to this post daily while I’m at work to see what the newest release was.

On that note, I’m thoroughly disappointed by the “sale” provided on the last day. We had 31 days of sales which I took advantage of quite often. On the last day of the “sale” we get dye packs. Seriously?!?! Marketing fail of epic proportions! Of all the things you could put up, you end your “month of sales” on useless dye packs. /headsmack

Level scaling.

Yes I know, we have all gotten used to it but really, go have a look at some other MMOs and their 90%+ deserted zones. Level scaling makes the game about 8 times the size for end game characters.

This is probably my top choice as well. Love the level scaling.

Others…no mob or resource tapping and waypoint system. Mob / resource tapping in other games truly leads to animosity among players. So many times (in other MMO’s) I’ve seen people complaining in general chat that “so-and-so stole my node”. First one there gets it, and people tend to think if they see it, it’s theirs. No problems like that here.

Outfits: How ANet is missing out on sales

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

skigorn.7910

If they make an armor set, it’ll only work on 1/3 of the classes, depending on whether they make it a heavy, medium, or light set. Mixing/matching weight class pieces is a topic that’s been done to death, so I’ll try not to get into it here.

Selling an armor as both an armor and an outfit sounds very confusing, and it’s not great business to confuse your customer. I’m pretty sure they’ve considered the argument you’re suggesting before, when they quit selling new armor skins in favor of outfits. I don’t have access to their sales data, but I don’t think they made that decision on a whim.

They need to do away with armor weights on the cosmetic side of things. There are several outfits that are undoubtedly heavy armor (Balthazar Regalia, Ceremonial Plated, Slayer, Ironclad to name a few) but can be worn by any class. My necro can walk around in Ceremonial Plated which looks the same on my guardian. Why limit us with individual armor pieces?

Still have a bunch of gems left. Waiting for character slots and maybe a decent outfit. Not a fan of Slayer or Monk outfits. I’ll pick up the silver-fed if it comes up.

Extremely rare. I’ve received 2 precursors from the MF over the last 9 months, once by tossing in 4 rare weapons, the other by 3 exotic weapons + 1 MF stone.

I’m constantly tossing weapons into the MF using the combination above, and I think I’d be considered pretty darn lucky getting 2 in that short time.

I would love cloaks (over the shoulder) but assume there would be some serious clipping issues with all the spikey armor out there. Cloaks would need to have the ability to toggle the hood on and off.

Lotro would have hooded/non-hooded capes. If you wanted the same style you needed to buy the hooded and hoodless separately. Hate!

Just don’t make cape backpacks & gliders. We don’t need an army of Superpeople flying around.

Contested Waypoints

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skigorn.7910

skigorn.7910

It’s not about being easy. It’s about having to cover so much terrain just to get back to your team in case you die. And in Maguuma, you can die a lot.

In the core maps, you didn’t need to run TOO far if an event you needed to go back to had its nearest WP marked contested. Look at your example, which is Teq. Most of the time, the WP on the Asura research base is contested. But the next closest ones aren’t that far. It takes a bit of walk, and one of them through some Risen (while the other one has Krait), but it’s not that difficult OR long a run back.

This isn’t about the Meta. This isn’t about asking for an easy time. It’s just asking that we don’t have to spend so much time getting (back) to the places we need to be in.

Why is it when threads like this pop up the automatic response of some players is immediately to call out people on asking it be easy? Reading through the OP’s post, there wasn’t any indication that she wanted her hand held: she just didn’t want to cover so much territory just to get back to the fight.

In fact, if I get her post right, she’s even asking ANet to give us the option to port in via a contested WP into a fight. Right on top of that contested WP. Like Space Marines on a drop pod inbound to a hot zone filled with Tyranids and anticipating every moment of it to help save some Imperial Guardsmen and get some glory for the Emprah.

You know, I’d love that choice.

This is my biggest problem with the new zones. The WPs are few and far between, and the majority can be contested at any given time. Making me run vast distances isn’t challenging, it’s annoying since there can be “more to it” than simply running from point A to point B. There are always elevation gains or losses, meaning I’m running up a spiral or zig zagging my way between those 2 points. Irritating. Annoying. Poor design/mechanics.

Glittering Wings (Dragonfly) in Gem Store

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

skigorn.7910

Saw it was about to buy it but it’s only wings nothing else…

The Dragonfly wings are just a backpack no where on the item does it even mention them being usable for a glider skin.

Why do they even bother making wings that can’t be used as wings at this point it’s just like the butterfly wings yet the bat and angel wings can be used for gliding.

For the record I went with a more insect/bug/arachnid theme on my main still waiting a mail/pick/scythe but at this point I don’t see why we don’t have a glider?

It’ll probably be similar to the black/white wings. 500 gems now, 750 once they add the glider skin to it. The feathered wings were 500 gems initially, now they’re 750 with the additional note of “glider skins”.

im very frustrated because
the maps are stunning
the story is fine
the enemies, weapons, armors – all good to great

but – the pathfinding, complicated maps, hero points and mastery grinding – its incredibly frustrating to me right now….especially cause i feel im running around for 2 hours only to achieve something worth 15 minutes…

and this is really a shame – cause it has so much great and beautiful stuff – but after hours of not finding stuff im ready to throw my keyboard into the screen

I’m on board with this. I’m enjoying some of it, but I’m frustrated more than enjoying it. I find myself unable to complete too many things because of mastery gating. For me it’s around 3/10…maybe 4/10.

This weekend I’d play the new zone until I got too frustrated, then zoned over to SW for a while, or do the Halloween stuff. Back to new zone…frustrated, roll Revenant.

Overall a pretty disappointing experience, and I’m a relatively new player (bought the game in May). I understand why they did what they did. You don’t want an expansion to be a rehash of what we’ve had so far. This expansion gives us fresh new stuff, the problem is the frustration that I’ve experienced.

This is the worst PVE event ever for GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skigorn.7910

skigorn.7910

I’ll preface this by saying that I’ve only been here 3 months and love this game. My experience with the history of this game is extremely limited but…

this is easily the worst event I’ve experienced in any MMO, and I’ve been playing MMORPGs since the late 1990’s.

I wasn’t able to log in until around 7 PM Pacific Time, so I saw all of the negative posts ahead of time. I went into this event dismissing the negativity as “jaded players with high expectations”. I was wrong. This event is horrid. All this is is a tag fest to try to get the Gold medal. A buff/boon is placed on players for participation and no rewards are given until the end. No loot drops, nothing for the 30 minutes of time spent. Unfortunately I dc’d after running all over the place for 22 minutes, only to log into a different map with a different timer and no boon at all.

There has to be a better way to credit players for their efforts rather than placing a disposable boon on them. And it seems that the devs should know this given the dc issues that people (like me) tend to experience.

This truly has been the most unrewarding event I’ve ever experienced.

The only issue I’ve ever had with converting to this model is the gold spammers, and it’s already happening here. I logged into Lion’s Arch this morning and was immediately /w about a site that sells precursors. Ugh. Swtor was inundated with gold spammers, and Bioware was horrible about shutting them down. I hope Anet is more vigilant.

I’ve only been here for 3 months, and bought the game when it was on sale for $15. If it wasn’t for that sale, I wouldn’t have tried this game out. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who passed this game up because they couldn’t try it for free beforehand. With this change I can see some long term players settling in here. Some will come and go but some will stay, and that’s healthy for GW2 in the long term.

This is actually comical seeing people arguing against in combat weapon swap while the OP clearly stated…in the first sentence…OOC aka OUT OF COMBAT. Not sure if people are trolling or just reading half of the title and not the body.

I agree that this would be nice and would accomplish 2 major things.

1. Having to constantly switch to your inventory and equip the items manually. Takes a few seconds but if you go from a staff to scepter/focus you are also managing where you keep your items. I manually move stuff to a slot in my invisible pack every time I switch.

2. Safeguards from accidental “anything”. If they’re “equipped” in your hero panel then you can’t destroy, salvage, etc. Also gives 1-2 pack slots back.

Easiest solution would be to disable the weapon swap function during combat for these 2 professions.

As was stated probably many many times, simply doubling Teq’s HP was not the answer. A +50% boost maybe.

With only 50% more any half decent map would still skip all the turret defense phases.

Therefore making it an AFKfest again.

I’m not sure how Tequatl is an “afk” sort of fight. I look away for 3 seconds and end up dead. Although I am somewhat new, been playing for 2 months…so I could be missing something.

I joined several fights this weekend, all failed. I attempted one later last night (Sunday night) and there may have been 30 people in total there. People are simply leaving early if they see not enough people, or not enough damage being done early in the fight.

Hopefully this is addressed quickly because this is a fun fight, at least it was before they “fixed” it.

I agree that simply doubling the HP is a horrible solution. Anet gives us the “yay we’re lifting the cap on conditions making the players more powerful” then they nullify it (and then some) with the double HP on bosses.

And it’s not just Teq. SB is an obnoxiously long and boring fight, having to knock down portals 6+ times.

10$ "Discount"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skigorn.7910

skigorn.7910

Going forward it seems the offer should be separated into “xpac-only” or “new purchase”.

New purchases pay some value, say $50 for the core game which includes the current Xpac. You don’t want to charge too much as you won’t attract new players.

Upgrades for existing players at a reduced amount, say $35 or $40. At that point they can offer additional “bonuses” in tiers ($35/$65/$95 for instance). This way existing players feel that they’re paying for an expansion and not “re-purchasing” the game.

I recently joined GW2 by purchasing the Deluxe version for $15. I’m sure some people feel slighted about this because they paid $60 a week, a month, a year before. Fact is, that price brought me here. In the days of f2p where you can try a game out before deciding to spend money, it’s hard to swallow a $60 price tag to test something out. I figured for $15 I can’t go wrong…that’s the sub price of many games (or at least close to it).

At this point I have no idea what I’d get for pre-ordering since I’ve only been here for a little over 2 months. I don’t really care…I don’t feel entitled to anything probably because 1) I’m new and 2) I paid very little for the game. Although I’ve already spent $75 on the gem store so I’ve invested in this game beyond my original purchase. Not sure if I’ll pre-order or wait until release, but I will buy HoT at some point.

I’ve played enough games to know that pre-purchases of any xpac tend to bring severe debates, rage quitting (or threatening to), and at least a lot of bantering. This is nothing new to GW2 or Anet.

TBH I expected a revision to their pricing model for HoT because, again, I’ve seen it before. A “token” to show the community that they’re listening and they care. I’ve also seen the opposite where the developers ignore the community and people do in fact leave due to complacency by the company. Anet seems to be involved with this community, which I greatly appreciate. Before coming here I left Swtor mostly because of frustration related to lack of communication/damage control. I’m glad it’s not that way here.
