It’s not screaming it’s about being a satisfied customer.
I do understand that and you have all rights as a customer to complain about that. But Customer Service and Business Policies do not go together most of the time. Sad but true. However you guys can not base it on laws you somewhere read, or lawsuits that have been somewhere posted and assume that Anet is doing the same thing.
As mentioned so many times, you as the customer have a case if Anet does not refund the Gem Stones, in game not to your credit card. That’s the only contract you guys signed. The contract states that after successful donation you receive a in game currency and in this case its gem stones. There’s nothing else in the contract that requires Anet to do anything else. Now if Anet decides to give you the money back (your credit card) then that’s awesome and outstanding customer support but they are not bound to that by law, policies or any other terms in the contract. Not even the fine print states anything different.
Again the so called product is not yours and never will be, doesn’t matter if you paid real life money, in game money or donkeys for that item. Stop screaming for things you have no rights on lol.
if that’s the case than how did that guy from proudmoore on wow win his case, believe it or not but if their contract they have us agree brakes any rules of said country, a person has the right to sue. and if their not happy with their purchase because of a bait and switch, they have a right to get their money back
That dude sued Blizzard for a breach of security after purchasing a false advertised product that authenticates the player and protects their account and private information.
How did the skin Anet released caused any security issues with your account?
Link the contract that states that you own the right on their copyrighted material and game itself after you donated a specific amount of money to the game itself. I yet have to see that…
Anet advertised a product, and I bought it. I spent $10 of my hard earned money for the 800gems on a student budget. I thought since the holidays are coming up I will treat myself to something small. Now due to the majority gw2 population disliking the new skin, Anet is going “door-to-door” to those who purchased the product and is asking for it “back” (by changing the looks and/or a refund of gems). I do not see why I should give Anet the product back that I paid for with real money. Thus saying what I bought is now mine. What gives you the right to change it for those who are happy with their purchase. If you are going to change it then I do not want the gems, I would want my money back.
Read the whole discussion, especially this page you posted on. You do not have any rights on Anet’s virtual created and copyrighted content. You purchase a license of using the art work. The artwork is and stays Anet’s property and can be modified at any time of the day due to the fact that they hold the COPYRIGHT!
You can however request the gem stones back that you spend on that design since it has been advertised, but only if the skin is 100% removed. That does not mean 100% removed from the Gem Store that means 100% removed from your characters. The removal of the gem stone could be declared as limited sale and the ending date does not even have to be announced. This also does not mean you can request a refund to your credit card, the contract you agree on is based on delivering in game currency, in our case GEM STONES.
Again the so called product is not yours and never will be, doesn’t matter if you paid real life money, in game money or donkeys for that item. Stop screaming for things you have no rights on lol.
I find a lot of newer players that have not been around as South Sun was introduced farming the place for shells. There is a specific Accessory that’s still available and some people rather have those than the ascended gear or other exotic pieces for their characters. Then there are the back pieces that need those shells, some people still want that item as well and yes the inscriptions. Let’s not forget those And on top of all that, we have the people that throughout the year just hoard materials in the hope they get something awesome whenever that event or region returns. In other terms, there’s always a demand on specific items but it’s defiantly not one of the items that get you rich over night or without converting it to something that’s actual more profitable.
anything without flames would be good
Seeing as the set is called “Flamekissed”, I think that’s not a very realistic expectation.
Really, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just took another mediocre light armor set and add flame effects, just like they did with medium and heavy armor.
Burnt rags would be a “Flamekissed” armor if you ask me… world of warcraft cliche armors looks lame. Putting lights and glowing to armor is easier and cheaper than actually reproducing the texture of different fabrics on the same model… that is why we don’t see quality armors as much as this “shiny” armors.
It isn’t easier and it doesn’t take longer, however I doubt that the ultra modern 3d armor you guys are looking for can even be supported by the current game engine, that would explain why we wont see any of those soon.
its so disappointing when I look at skin online….. ooo that’s a nice top…. try it on in game and it comes with a free skirt!
.
I wish it would come with a free skirt or any skirt at all, or even short shorts, hell make it a belt version of shorts/skirt lmao. All i see is coats, coats and did I mention coats yet? Topped with hats that are way to big for anyone’s head…..
Most of the time that event seems like the temple events….. bugged. I farm a lot in South Sun and see nearly every day a group on map chat wondering why it’s not counting. I don’t do the events in there, I plain farm for shells most of the time but I thought I come and mention that Good luck and let’s hope you can get your gear.
I like commenting on the Linden Lab case, which has nothing to do with Anet in first place.
Linden Labs created a platform for established businesses, freelancers and hobby artists. This platform was developed for marketing and advertisement of their current or upcoming products. After a while this game become open to the public and a new era for online games was born. Players and professionals could create their own virtual content and sell it for real life money. There was no in game currency that could be acquired by just “playing” the game. You have to actually donate money or get your money from content you create/rent out etc. It doesn’t have a story line or anything given by the company itself. It’s not an MMO or any sort of so called game.
With that said, of course when it comes to acquiring real life money and income that those companies are bound to specific laws. In this case it’s our California laws since Linden Labs’s Head Quarter is in San Francisco. But as mentioned above, Linden Labs changed their ToS without former notice. This was an issue in itself and led to a lawsuit.
Linden Labs had been sued before, for millions of dollars in fact, because people lost their real life in come. This was not based on someone just donating a few dollars here and there, in fact it wasn’t based on donations at all and wouldn’t have gotten any success in court. It was based on copyright infringement.
Long story short, Anet does not even offer anything similar or close to Linden Labs Platform. Anet offers an MMO and players can’t acquire a real life income by playing the game. Anet also does not offer a Gold to Real Life Money option. Therefore the whole case about LL doesn’t even apply here.
But there could be a case if you really wanted it to happen. That would be based on breach of contract. Now read carefully before screaming for your skins again…
The moment you donate you are entering a contract with Anet/Ncsoft. The contract states that after successful donation you’ll be receiving a in game currency. In our case or in Anet’s case for GW2 that’s Gem Stones.
Again read first! The reason you donated money doesn’t matter. It’s irrelevant in terms of just having donated to get a skin they advertised… We clear on that? alright keep reading….
The Skin itself is Anet’s virtual content and therefore their own property. To no time Anet sells you the copyright of their product. Clear? Awesome, let’s move on… this means that it falls under the virtual content policy that’s different in every state. Anet is allowed to change their content at any time. This would include adding, removing, modifying etc. and you agreed to that as you joined the game. ToS state that clearly and are legal.
However as Anet pulled their own content without immediately reimbursing the gem stones would be the problem here. Anet promised to return gem stones if people do not like the new virtual content, without giving an ETA.
As I mentioned above, Customers that donated money (not the ones that exchanged gold for gem stones in game) have a contract with Anet. The Eta on that is 30 days unless stated in an official new released contract, and signed by it’s customer, within a specific time frame. The 30 days are based on state laws and vary from state to state and in some states they do not apply at all, please keep that in mind.
Again this doesn’t effect the skins or any other virtual content. It’s irrelevant if you like or not like the new skins, or if they even being released. The only legal stand point here, if you really wanted one, is the reimbursement of the Gem Stones. Anet does not have to put money back on your credit card, nor do they have to give you a content. All you signed for were the Gem stones that have been removed after the skin has been pulled from the market.
So I hope we are done with pulling internet cases and laws out of our pockets and trying to threaten Anet with it, thinking you have a case. You do not.
lol at the restaurant comments. What is this, Business Class 101? Might go hand in hand with the graphic design entry class that was scheduled 5 pages prior.
Guy’s Anet is trying to minimize collateral damage overall. I am sure some people will leave and I am sure some people will give up on the Gem store today. In the long run Anet will keep the faith of old and new players alike.
doubt it. Anet better increases the free gw2 copies for that contest by another 5 or 8k. And blocks all new users from the forums
Why should humans only retain the right to keep the skin when in fact they are the ones who complained about it’s existence in the first place? Hypocrite much.
because now they realize what kind of impact that has when it comes to the looks of their human characters. Sometimes people should make up their mind…
It’s amazingly funny to me that after 20 people complaint about the new armor skin they remove it and it’s getting redone. After having input and complaints from around 85% of the fractals community there is still no changes being made. Wonder when the re roll of fractals are gonna happen….
Why did you make this thread if you have 1000+ posts in other thread about hows and whys on the same topic?
because people that complaint about the T3 armor made 140 topics as well. So OP has the right to open a new topic on that too.
I wish the whole Anet team would work like Gaile does. At least you won’t get an arrogant and rude answer from Gaile lol. Hope you get a raise one day..
Hello,
First post here, played since pre-launch and spent a fair amount of money in this game (a few hundreds, actually). Anyway, i’m one of the evil players that bought the Flamekissed armor skin. I did it with 800 gems that i bought for 10,00$.
Now it will be removed from the game (or replaced by something i didn’t pay for). If i read correctly, i’ll be able to get a full refund by contacting support. We’re not talking about the 800 gems, but the 10,00$, right? Because i honnestly don’t care about those gems… but i did care about that skin.
My main concern is : will it happen again? It’s actually the first time in my life that i buy something and it’s “replaced” without my concent after my money was taken away from my wallet. As an adult customer, i’m a bit in shock right now. How can i sincerely put any more money in your gemshop, knowing that my purchase might be temporary or that it might change eventually because someone else isn’t happy with it?
What am i supposed to think about all this?
Anet took a hit and that’s not reversible. Putting a texture on the gem store that was 100% T3 human cultural was the first mistake made. The 2nd mistake was writing an apology that made no sense at all and the 3rd mistake was taking it out of the gem store with the promise of an remake without a set dead line and that people didn’t paid for. Anet lacks to see that the mistake was clearly on their hand and that this should have a better outcome than reimbursing gem stones and removing the content from the store itself.

Yes, there has been a lot of noise about the new Flamekissed armour. A forum explosion, if you will. People wanting answers, naturally. Forum mods have probably been earning overtime – if they were getting paid – dealing with many repeat threads breaking forum rules.
However, Anet have listened, and responded.
People may feel this was not in a timely manner, but let’s take things in perspective. Anet is a company. There are many people that work there, and they would need to discuss and agree upon a solution to the problem at hand. It isn’t up to just one person.
Anet might be doing some things wrong still in many opinions (coughScarletcough) but actions such as this, as well as listening about different colour borders for item rarities in your inventory show they do listen to the community.
So, thanks Anet for listening. We know it can be hard, but while there are things we think you are doing wrong, you are also doing a lot right which doesn’t get mentioned nearly as often.
They didn’t listen, they just realized that other people figured out what they did with the armor itself. Came up with an excuse about “oh we thought we altered our mesh but guess we didn’t” and that’s it. It’s a shame what graphic design has come too the last couple of years.
Thank you so much. Im just wondering, will all 3 armor tiers getting an art rework? or just light flamekissed? Thanks again for taking the time to reply to the community.
only the t3. if you now want the other art work changed, find around 10 people, open 140 topics about that and you might get your wish at the end of the day.
Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.
This is entry level graphic design and 3D modeling. The meshs are 100% identical and haven’t been altered in any way. The texture itself has been altered, yet it wasn’t rendered correctly to the mesh itself, that led to the texture being blurry compared to the original one. So it’s one thing to say, well we screwed up and I apologize but it gets absolute ridiculous when you try making us believe that nobody noticed and only after the complaints came in you realized that.
Edit: I proudly take my upcoming infraction for that.
(edited by slurpey.6014)
this is gw2 and not gw1. if you like the changes made or being made to gw1 go play that game.
If you do not see the obvious connection between the two games, and if you do not accept some constructive criticism made here, you’d better not respond at all if everything that you want to add is “if you don’t like it, go away.” Thanks.
I could care less about the connection. What I do see is people constantly complaining about something and it’s getting old. Just because I don’t share your opinion doesn’t mean I can not put my 2 cents in.
this is gw2 and not gw1. if you like the changes made or being made to gw1 go play that game.
they just added that tome to the tri chest and I think they rather keep it rng to acquire than actually making it available to the public for skill points. I however like the idea since I have plenty of skill points available.
I planned on getting T3 Human for my elementalist human upon reaching level 80, but now i’m going to get it at half the price, plus it’ll even look cooler with the fire on it!
Don’t ruin this for me!
So for all the people who worked hard and paid full price for that armor, they shouldn’t complain because it will ruin it for you? Wow… Just… Wow.
If you buy 1kg of bananas for 20 euro today just to see it in promotion tomorrow in half the price, will you boycott the supermarket, lol
So many delusional people on this board …
That’s pretty much what I was asking last night. I have 4 human characters and all 4 of them are wearing the T3 armor, I have 4 Norn characters and all of them are wearing T2 or T3. I don’t see the problem in it. I would welcome other races being able to wear the norn armor as well. In general there’s not much modification when it comes to the characters. I am just surprised how much drama people stirring up over some freaking armor lol
It’s not just about the cost of the t3 cultural you know. Have you been paying attention to the complaints at all?
Oh trust me, I have paid attention to all 90 topics about T3 armor…. All other complaints are even worse than the “I PAID 119g FOR MY T3 ARMOR AND NOW I CAN GET IT FOR 79g” So let’s keep it at that for this thread.
I think it’s a sarcastic thread.
However, what the complainers fail to understand (no offense if your feelings were hurt by this patch) is that the real human light T3 armor is still unavailable. Fire particle effects make it a different armor set, and not necessarily better (it wouldn’t fit many player character concepts out there.) So if you care about “Exclusivity”, your armor is still as exclusive as ever, and probably better looking than the new, “cheaper” set.
+1 but to be honest the particle effect armor looks much better than the actual T3. But as you mentioned, not everybody likes particles. I do not and I just keep my T3 armor on my characters, but I defiantly don’t mind other races wearing the new armor.
It makes no sense that the skins you pay real money for are one time use yet the ones you get for free are unlimited.
it does make sense since it’s a consumable. Anet wouldn’t make any money if they would make that skin permanent. The moment they would do that, people would scream for account bound as well, since most permanent items in gw2 are marked as that. Do I think it’s a good idea? no but I can see why a company wouldn’t do that and I agree it shouldn’t be that way.

I was thinking about what to get some people for the upcoming holiday season and I realized that one of the nice things about GW2 having no sub fee is that I can give it as a gift and don’t have to worry about guilting someone into a sub fee. This was probably one of the big reasons I never gave anyone WoW as a gift back when that was my MMO of choice.
I would wait a couple of weeks. There will be plenty of new MMO’s you might want to gift
Not looking forward of collecting 25000000000 ugly sweaters for one of the maybe new winters day weapon or skins. But at least we have something to do, right?
25000000000?
Who told you that?
Its 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
sweaters + 100 gold…Count yourself lucky they couldn’t handle any more 9’s…
I got plenty from last year, those 25000000000 would be the ones still needed
as mentioned you could WvW or you can join the champ train in queensdale. 1 hour should give you enough dust for plenty of back pieces lol
Cool, do we get paid bro? Anets already kittening up stuff bad, i’m sure your concept would get hella mashed so it was not copyrighted to you. Whats the ruling 50% difference to avoid copyright?
content has to be modified by 25% to avoid copyright, exception on items that are trademarked. Then that’s a whole different topic we are looking at
I HAVE BEEN PREPARING ALL YEAR FOR THIS!!
SANTA FLOYD IS -MOSTLY- READY FOR WINTERSDAY
(Gotta get one of them wintersday staves)ANYONE ELSE READY?!
Not looking forward of collecting 25000000000 ugly sweaters for one of the maybe new winters day weapon or skins. But at least we have something to do, right?
Well, since so many are extremely angry about the armor skin fiasco with the most recent update where they’ve cheapened and removed the exclusivity of T3 human cultural light armor, one might get the impression that ArenaNet is running low on ideas & creativity or direction for new armor skins to add to the game & gem shop.
I’m creating this thread here for now, because the most people will see it and I want to include as many people as possible in the discussion. The purpose of this thread is to share ideas using art (concept or otherwise), or other pictures to share what you want with the community, and ArenaNet developers alike so that they may potentially draw inspiration from our ideas & also get a good sense of where their player-base stands on the type of looks we want for our characters.
PLEASE keep the discussion civil, and open minded as many of us are bound to have different tastes and opinions so please be respectful
My first contribution is an idea for a mesmer-friendly set using concept art from AION’s bard class.
I am sorry to say this but you accusing Anet of not being creative and I do agree with that to a point, but then you’re posting armor from other games. That has nothing to do with being creative or getting fresh idea’s for upcoming patches. I think that our community can come up with something very nice and stunning that’s not copied and pasted from other games.
it looks good. Let’s hope they are not going to screw this one up too
it’s impossible to be disappointed if you expected nothing. Just saying…
I don’t think that needs any compensation especially with that attitude.
I support the suggestion.

you are not able to craft the fractal capacitor’s, Sclerite Karka Shell, Quiver of a Thousand Arrows and There with Yakkington: A Traveler’s Tale with the new method.
All other back pieces can be crafted, just replace the mist essence with 250 bloodstone dust.
(edited by slurpey.6014)
its the same recipes just replace the mist essences with 250 bloodstone dust… try wiki.
you could get 2 different bags when opening the box. It was random and didn’t made much of a difference. Now they updated those 2 bag option with other bag options that’s available randomly after opening the box. Then they added the chance of scroll of knowledge and tomes of knowledge. After all not much has changed since it’s still random however the “new” loot bags might have a higher chance of getting specific items.
let’s say you buy a new car today. next week that company/manufacturer releases a new version of that car. Now you go back to your dealer and request a trade in because there’s a new version of that car around? Interesting, lemme know how that works out for ya :d
bloodstone dust.
When does the day come that players understand that game content is virtual and not their property. Any company can change, delete, add or whatever their own Virtual Content at any time of the day. Users agreed to that as they signed up for the game or purchased it…
LOL. Coming up on 10 humongous, glaring bugs that they added into the game today. All in two week’s work!
but but but … they did fix 1 or 3 bugs….
anet … learn how to make new content and not dont break the old content… i was trying to get all the tier 3 and now this on gem store? are you serious?
Im feeling such rage at your gem store… hire better people, because the people you got there working know 0
saved you a bunch of gold and you get particle effects on top of that. Sounds to me that’s a much better deal
by now you shoudl know that when Anet gives a date, the date is related to where their main office is. Somewhere in the US. It’s noon-ish there, they have plenty of time to give the patch and still be in time for their deadline.
actually it’s 10:29 am at their office but yea I agree, there’s plenty of time for the update
The updates are normally around noon (pacific time). Haven’t seen it at any other time. Just give it a couple of hours and see what’s going to happen
You clearly don’t know what a concentrated gamer looks like when he/she’s playing and enjoying a game.
I don’t think you need to concentrate while laying on the floor or pressing 1. Guess I am not casual enough for that point of view, sorry…
gotta get people to play the game somehow, right?
speculations and nothing else.
this is gw2 not gw1 last time I checked. If there’s a need of releasing new armor and at the current state there isn’t, then it should be something new, fresh and unique. Give the design team something to do instead of transferring old armor from other games into this one.
I loved the live stream. Funniest thing I’ve seen so far. Lets get a sneak peak of the new fractals, shall we?
1. going into downed state…
happens and not big a deal but being constantly or most of the time in downed state as someone that wants to show a sneak peak is pretty bad.
2. using auto attack
anybody saw this or was it just me that the person only used auto attack and at times skill 3 but not very often tho
3. traps
fun thing to have but again if you like to show how awesome the new instance is, shouldn’t you be the one showing us that and not laying on the floor most of the time?
4. No enthusiasm
I’ve never seen anybody in any gaming company that’s that bored. If you want us to like the new instance and get us all excited then this wasn’t the way to go.
Summon: What did we learn? Nothing. If that’s how they determinate if there are bugs in the instance no wonder most of the things ain’t working right. Thanks for the sneak peak
